Government Motors Lobbying Expenditures Shoot Into Stratosphere

By now most of us are familiar with the process by which Democrats and public sector unions enrich each other at everyone else's expense. Democrats see that the unions get all the money they want, even if they have to borrow it from the communist Chinese and leave our grandchildren with the bill. In return, unions funnel much of the money back to Dems as campaign contributions. Now that Comrade Obama has partially nationalized the auto industry, the same principle is at play, as Big Government illustrates with this graphic:


GM can afford to "lobby" (i.e., bribe) our rulers with buckets of money, because it's our money. They have to spend it on bribes instead of building better cars, or bureaucrats won't keep the pipeline open between our bank accounts and their coffers.

Socialism is a particularly malignant form of systematized corruption. Freedom works. Corruption doesn't. For evidence, you can go back a few years to the USSR, or forward a few years to the USSA.
