Obama Thanksgiving Speech

Posted by Van Helsing at November 26, 2010 8:45 AM

Since the Manchurian Moonbat was probably busy playing golf or bowing to foreign dictators, Sarah Palin thoughtfully wrote a Thanksgiving speech on his behalf, stitched together out of a few of his gaffes:

My fellow Americans in all 57 states, the time has changed for come. With our country founded more than 20 centuries ago, we have much to celebrate – from the FBI’s 100 days to the reforms that bring greater inefficiencies to our health care system. We know that countries like Europe are willing to stand with us in our fight to halt the rise of privacy, and Israel is a strong friend of Israel’s. And let’s face it, everybody knows that it makes no sense that you send a kid to the emergency room for a treatable illness like asthma and they end up taking up a hospital bed. It costs, when, if you, they just gave, you gave them treatment early, and they got some treatment, and ah, a breathalyzer, or an inhalator. I mean, not a breathalyzer, ah, I don’t know what the term is in Austrian for that…

Just think of the fun the media could have with these stumbles if a Republican made them.

Naturally Van Helsing ignores the fact that Palin calls these "all too human slips of the tongue." He also ignores why Palin posted this.

If you click on the Sarah Palin link you can see what inspired this silliness. Palin is providing cover for her own gaff: "Obviously, we gotta stand with our North Korean allies,"

Posted by: lao at November 26, 2010 9:11 AM

Did you see her on that horrible TV show clubbing those poor fish to death? That's what she wants to do to gays and minorities! Any woman who would willing bludgeon a living creature has no business being president! We need a strong woman like Michelle The Wookie Obama who will send out stormtroopers to do it instead!

You worry about Obama not being "articulate" Teddy Boy? Ok, let's look at the context of Palin's little gaffe:

“Well, North Korea, this is stemming from I think, a greater problem when we’re all, you know, sittin’ around askin’, ‘Oh, no, what are we gonna do,’ and we’re not having a lotta faith that the White House is gonna come out with a strong enough policy to sanction what it is North Korea is gonna do, so this speaks to a bigger picture that certainly scares me in terms of our national security policy, but obviously some stand with our North Korean allies we’re bound to by freedom; we’re also bound by prudence to stand with our South Korean allies. And to my North Korea, well, we’re not gonna reward bad behavior and we’re not gonna walk away and we do need to press China to do more to improve pressure on North Korea.”

Posted by: lao at November 26, 2010 9:51 AM

but obviously some stand with our North Korean allies we’re bound to by freedom

Some -who?- stand with our allies who are also allies of North Korea -who are they?-

China is standing with North Korea. We're not allies with China but we're not enemies.

So much for trying to make sense of a story with only Lao's clip. Here's "the gaffe" Sarah made AND EXPLAINED:

If the media had bothered to actually listen to all of my remarks on Glenn Beck’s radio show, they would have noticed that I refer to South Korea as our ally throughout, that I corrected myself seconds after my slip-of-the-tongue, and that I made it abundantly clear that pressure should be put on China to restrict energy exports to the North Korean regime. The media could even have done due diligence and checked my previous statements on the subject, which have always been consistent, and in fact even ahead of the curve. But why let the facts get in the way of a good story? (And for that matter, why not just make up stories out of thin air – like the totally false hard news story which has run for three days now reporting that I lobbied the producers of “Dancing with the Stars” to cast a former Senate candidate on their show. That lie is further clear proof that the media completely makes things up without doing even rudimentary fact-checking.)

Posted by: TrickleUpPolitics at November 26, 2010 10:18 AM

Funny how one minor Sarah Palin gaffe is all over the media, but Obama's regular stupidity is pointedly ignored. Remember, "I hate to disappoint you, Mr. President. But, I'm Chinese." How much media coverage did that get compared to Sarah Palin's one slip of the tongue?

Posted by: GoY at November 26, 2010 10:25 AM

Well then, feel free to bother "to actually listen" to her remarks.

You can enjoy the articulate audio here.

Palin didn't correct herself, she was corrected by Beck.

Here's a more accurate transcript:

Beck: Sarah you said, you said in the last few days that you are considering a run for President? And uh...polls show that you would...probably win the Republican nomination. How would you handle a situation like just developed in..in North Korea?

Palin: “Well, North Korea, uh...this is stemming from I think, a..a greater problem when we’re all, sittin’ around askin’, ‘Oh, no, what are we gonna do,’ and we’re not having a lotta faith that the White House is gonna come out with a strong enough policy to um, sanction what it is North Korea is gonna do, so this speaks to a bigger picture here that certainly scares me in terms of our national security policy, but, obviously some stand with our North Korean allies we’re bound to by...by treaty...

Beck: (interrupting) South Korean (unintelligible)

Palin: Yeah, and we’re also bound by prudence to stand with our, our South Korean allies yes. And uh, you know to...to remind North Korea, well, we’re not gonna reward bad behavior and we’re not gonna walk away and we do need to press China to do more to improve pressure on North Korea.”

Posted by: lao at November 26, 2010 10:36 AM

Palin didn't correct herself, she was corrected by Beck.

And Obama's gaffe about "My Muslim faith" was corrected by George Stephanopoulus.

In order to be intellectually honest, lao must declare himself to believe Obama is a Muslim. Or, he must admit he is a flaming hypocrite.

But, he'll more likely try to weasel out of admitting that which he has just been blatantly demonstrated to be.

There are verbal fumbles by someone that does the right thing, and verbal fumbles by someone that wouldn't do the right thing if someone was holding a gun to the head of his wookie wife. At least Palin isn't pretending to be an intellectual. She's genuine. People respect that.

Oh dear. When you have to say "at least" as a preface to a comment about your favorite politician, you know you are in trouble.

People respect that Palin couldn't possibly "pretend to be an intellectual"?

Posted by: lao at November 26, 2010 11:25 AM

Transcript? We've seen the video. He said it. Snuffleupagus corrected him, circled the wagons to protect "the won". It was one of those, whaddya call it, "freudian slips", innit? It was orders of magnitude more significant than stumbling over north & south when you're, you know, talking about NORTH and SOUTH Korea.

Posted by: Mr Evilwrench at November 26, 2010 11:27 AM

The thing is, you have to seriously believe that Sarah Palin honestly believed North Korea was a US Ally for this to be any kind of a ding on her. And in the context of the rest of the interview, it's clear that she does not. But the left is so desperate to validate their perception of her as intellectually inferior, that they make a whole meal out of this nothing-burger.

And, of course, lao lacks even the smallest scintilla of integrity, else he would admit this. And, as predicted, he tries (and fails) to weasel out of the hypocritical double-standard he set for himself.

Posted by: GoY at November 26, 2010 11:32 AM

Posted by: Alpha Maser at November 26, 2010 11:44 AM

Lao,

Palin is genuine, and does not claim to be smarter than the masses.

Obama is just an ordinary black guy, everyone knows it, even you so called intellectuals on the left. You just don't want to admit that you were sold a big, smelly, steaming pile of shit.

How does it taste?

Posted by: h.( the racist) at November 26, 2010 11:52 AM

Why are you stooping to the level of the liberals? If you were a real conservative and not some tea-bag moron, you'd realize that stooping to the level of liberals is childish and makes you look just as dumb as them. I'm for true conservatives in 2012, not pretenders and hypocrites like you.

Yardsale, I heard about Palin's gaff a few days ago, and, unlike Moonbattery's constant moaning about "57 states", I saw the mistake for what it was, a minor stumble. The only reason I mentioned it here is because Van deliberately left it out.

Ignore her stumble, and read what she had to say or, better yet, listen to her. Can you seriously imagine Palin "pressuring" the Chinese to deal with North Korea?

As for "muslim faith" you are the one utterly lacking in integrity.

OBAMA: Let’s not play games. What I was suggesting — you’re absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith. And you’re absolutely right that that has not come–

STEPHANOPOULOS: Christian faith.

OBAMA: — my Christian faith. Well, what I’m saying is that he hasn’t suggested–

STEPHANOPOULOS: Has connections, right.

OBAMA: — that I’m a Muslim. And I think that his campaign’s upper echelons have not, either.

Stephanopoulos thought he was correcting Obama when he was in fact interrupting what Obama was trying to say. His interjection threw Obama off for a second until he just talked over him to say that McCain and the upper echelons of his campaign have not suggested Obama is a Muslim. That suggestion is left to the flakes on websites like Moonbattery.

Turn the statement around, does this make any sense whatsoever?

OBAMA: Let’s not play games. What I was suggesting — you’re absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Christian faith. And you’re absolutely right that that has not come–

Why would Obama mention McCain not talking about his Christian faith? Obama meant to say "muslim faith" but not because he was acknowledging he's a muslim. Use your noggin.

Posted by: lao at November 26, 2010 12:56 PM

Um. Yeah. How many RPMs do you think you can work up? No, McCain didn't because he was a total puss, not because it isn't true. zero, in a rare moment of candor, in other words unintentionally, let the cat out of the bag, and you lot are left holding it. Yeah, I have contempt for pigslam, and for its adherents, but even moreso for liars. zero was born a diaperhead, was brought up as one, and doesn't present any reason to think he's not still one. Yeah, I know what he "says", but what does he do? What he says doesn't mean much. It never has.

Posted by: Mr Evilwrench at November 26, 2010 1:10 PM

Evilwrench - always desperate to make something out of nothing.

Read the statement as though, what you call, "the freudian slip", didn't happen. Make sense? Nope.

Posted by: lao at November 26, 2010 1:15 PM

Listen Lao, you unspeakable diversionist you.
You and others have sold Obama as intelligent, knowledgeable, great speaker etc till even supporters are sick of hearing about it. THAT is the point of the clip. He is not.
It is a waste of time to bring on a tu quoque diversion, and find out when others have done something vaguely similar.
And these were not slips of the tongue - 10,000 dead instead of 12, mispronounce Corps man, countries like Europe, are pure ignorance.
No wonder he has sealed his scholastic record. The only reason for it is that it reveals what a poor quality intelligence he has.

Posted by: lao at November 26, 2010 1:31 PM

Better than the ones you deserve, certainly. Of course the statement doesn't make sense without the freudian slip. It's the freudian slip that makes the statement make sense. Heck, the freudian slip is the statement here. Does it cause physical pain to be such a dumbass, or are you just oblivious?

Posted by: Mr Evilwrench at November 26, 2010 2:35 PM

Context matters when talking about one of Dear Leader Obama's many, many gaffes, but not when smearing Sarah Palin for a relatively rare slip of the tongue.

Posted by: Joe at November 26, 2010 3:03 PM

Um Evilwrench, let me walk you through this...slowly.

You maintain that Obama didn't mean to use the words "muslim faith" when he spoke. Using those words is, what you call, the "freudian slip".

So, (think carefully now), if he didn't make that "slip", he would have said "Christian faith". Got that?

Now, look at my post of 12:56. Does using the words "Christian faith" make any sense? Sorry. It doesn't.

Look at the entire transcript (and video) that I linked. There is an entire line of conversation about FOX (and others) spreading the muslim faith line and that is what Obama is responding to.

Obama meant to say "muslim faith" because he was talking about some on the right, (not McCain) making that accusation. "Muslim faith" was not a slip, it was deliberate.

As for the delusions of the latest sock puppet - see my post at 9:51.

laosy do you seriously contend that this jackwagon would work things out that deeply beforehand? Nevermind, of course you do. The thing is, he's not that bright. He keeps doing the opposite of the right thing, and making blatant errors, even when he's ON the teleprompter. You can take one of his lame gaffes totally out of context and recast it as some sort of masterful intellectual ploy. That's funny. I'd more readily believe Sarah could do something like that. At least, in the context of "party like it's 1773" it wouldn't be inconceivable.

Evilwrench your willingness to cling to unreality must inspire others around here.

You are laughably trying to claim that Obama admitted he was Muslim. He did nothing of the sort.

What' did Obama have to "work out deeply"? You are the one claiming he said "my muslim faith" by mistake.

Obama said FOX News and some Republican commentators, (not McCain or "his campaign's upper echelons") had suggested he had Muslim connections.

What I think is fair to say is that, coming out of the Republican camp, there have been efforts to suggest that perhaps I’m not who I say I am when it comes to my faith — something which I find deeply offensive, and that has been going on for a pretty long time.

Long indeed on Moonbattery, where "Obama" and "Muslim" are not only regularly linked but regularly demonized.

Posted by: lao at November 26, 2010 8:15 PM

"Long indeed on Moonbattery, where "Obama" and "Muslim" are not only regularly linked but regularly demonized."

If only Obama's actions would ever reveal how wrong we are.

Obama can recite muslim prayers, his eyes light up when he reminisces about attending his childhood maktab.... and he has yet to attend church services as President. (Easter egg stunts on the WH lawn only count for idiots like you, lao)

"For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when He comes in His glory, and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels."

IF BHO were indeed Christian, he would attend church, saving Gibbs et al the ineffectual snowjob, and let actions speak for themselves.

Ooops. They have been. For years.

Posted by: Jimbo at November 27, 2010 4:05 PM

I responded to another thread with the following copy and paste. It speaks volumes (in a real and educated world);

I can give Palin a pass on her gaffe. She later responded with calling it an "all too human slips-of-the-tongue". I can go along with that as typos and misspeaks happen.

But then again, credibility of the speaker comes to mind. Steve Benen of The Washington Monthly made an interesting comment; "If Sen. Richard Lugar (R-Ind.) had misspoken while urging support for New START and referenced "Soviets," it wouldn't be much of a news story -- no one seriously believes Lugar is ignorant about counter-proliferation and Russian nuclear policy."

Now, let's stroll back to 2008 during her VP run. Palin said she didn't know "why North and South Korea were separate countries." Later, according John Heilemann, McCain campaign aides confirmed that Palin "didn't really understand why there was a North Korea and a South Korea." (http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0110/31335.html)

So while I'll give Palin the benefit of the doubt that she's educated herself on foreign countries and simply got her north and south mixed up, gaffes from people of intelligence are understood and dismissed with a chuckle while gaffes from people with a history of embarrassing ignorance raises eyebrows.
