Item #3: The Murders the Media Don't Cover

As Mark Steyn points out, the MFM ... who claim to be staunchly opposed to violence against women and "hate crimes" ... make an exception for Islamic Honor killings. One Canadian radio host has even suggested that honor killers be shown leniency because murdering women is a cultural norm for Muslims.

John Oakley is seriously entertaining the question of whether Canadian judges should give those who commit "honour" killings a break because they have different "cultural practices" and may not be aware of our norms and laws; defence attorney Lawrence Ben-Eliezer thinks judges should take these differences into consideration because we have "multiculturalism".

I guess it's no more stupid than our American legal custom of letting murderers walk free because a cop once used the n-word.

Steyn goes on to point out that the MFM has a huge blind spot when it comes to covering Islamic Honor Killings by contrasting the New York Times coverage of the Matthew Shepard "hate crime" (311 stories) with their coverage of the Aasiya Hassan honor killing (1 story). Matthew Shepard's murder ... which was less a hate crime than a cautionary example of why it's a bad idea to leave a bar with people you don't know to have sex and use drugs ... not only received saturation news coverage, but also led to plays, movies, songs... Laws were passed in his name. He became a victim-martyr in the secular left roll of victim-saints.

But dead Muslim women? Meh, who cares? It's just part of their culture.
