Brace Yourselves for the Next Lefty Attack Poll

Posted by Gregory of Yardale at March 23, 2010 3:20 PM

Harris is about to release a poll that a lot of progressive left douchebags are going to point to and say... "See, the teabaggers are crazy! Crazy I tell you. Hey, don't bogart that!" I would bet that the methodology of this poll was skewed to get the desired result, Harris is pretty notorious for that. But I'd like to walk through some of the "shocking" conclusions and comment, just to get ahead of the curve.

67 percent of Republicans (and 40 percent of Americans overall) believe that Obama is a socialist.

That is not an unreasonable conclusion to draw. Obama was mentored by hardcore radical leftists like Bill Ayers, Frank Marshall, and Jeremiah Wright. The man has, de facto if not de jure, nationalized health care, two auto companies, several banks. He is on track to nationalize student loans, and also seeks, via cap and trade, to nationalize the energy industry. One can argue that massive federal intrusion and regulation isn't technically socialism, just the way Clinton argued that getting a hummer from an intern wasn't technically sex.

57 percent of Republicans (32 percent overall) believe that Obama is a Muslim.

There are hints that support the idea that Obama was Muslim, at least for a time, e.g. His ability to recite the call to prayer flawlessly. But my feeling, from talking to other wingnuts, is that this is a less of a deal than the left makes out to be; the same way the left is way more hung up on homosexuality than we are.

Personally, I believe the only thing Obama worships is himself.

45 percent of Republicans (25 percent overall) agree with the Birthers in their belief that Obama was "not born in the United States and so is not eligible to be president."

Obama could resolve this controversy in two seconds by releasing his real birth certificate. He's spent how many hundreds of thousands to prevent that? It is logical to conclude he is hiding something. (Personally, I think he's hiding something *else,* in his college records most likely. But he definitely finds it politically useful to keep this controversy going.) This does matter to the right because we are, broadly speaking, law and order kind of people. Whereas the left is more "whatever you feel like, baby." We on the right want everyone to follow the rules. The left believes rules are things other people should follow.

38 percent of Republicans (20 percent overall) say that Obama is "doing many of the things that Hitler did."

Huge rallies under party symbols --- Check. Scapegoating a group of people for a failing economy --- Check. Use of the state to propagandize himself and his party --- Check. Did Hitler use a Teleprompter? I'm not sure. He was known for giving emotionally charged speeches. But obviously Zero hasn't started exterminating folk --- so Hitler comparisons should be off-limits.

But who are the left to talk about Hitler comparisons anyway?

Scariest of all, 24 percent of Republicans (14 percent overall) say that Obama "may be the Antichrist."

Dude, Biblically speaking, *any* political leader could be the Anti-Christ. And once again, who are the left to point fingers?

This poll was constructed with two purposes in mind. First, to marginalize legitimate critics of Obama by characterising "all" critics as nuts. Just suppose some nutcase really did scream a racial epithet at John Lewis; would that make the underlying objections to the Health Care Takeover any less legitimate? No, and we can't let these tactics from the left get us off our game.

Second, the poll will allow Bammy to play the victim card like the whiny little biyatch he is. (Why didn't they poll on the question, is Obama a whining little biyatch? That would be interesting.) What we have to keep in focus, keep insisting on, is that we are fighting bad socialist policies. We would be fighting them even if Obama were a white Christian evangelical. If Mike Huckabee was running the country to bankruptcy and nationalizing vast sectors of the economy, we'd be fighting him just as hard. That's the thing to keep in mind.
