Racist Reid: Sincere Apology or Desparate Act of a Loser?

Posted by The MaryHunter at January 10, 2010 12:35 PM

The apology by Harry "The Undertaker" Reid for his minor outbreak of liberal racism will be praised by Democrats and the Elitist Left as having ushered forth from pure and sincere motives. Whom are we to judge Reid's motives? Let's look at the timing.

It sure seems that Reid's words only made news this weekend in an effort to preempt his political enemies, who would surely make hay of his having "N-worded" The Anointed One, once the story broke on Monday with publication of the 2008 campaign book "Game Change".

Indeed, Racist Reid's motives seem all too clear:

Reid, facing a tough 2010 re-election bid, needs the White House's help if he wants to keep his seat. Obama's administration has dispatched officials on dozens of trips to buoy his bid and Obama has raised money for his campaign.
Recognizing the threat, Reid's apologies also played to his home state: "Moreover, throughout my career, from efforts to integrate the Las Vegas strip and the gaming industry to opposing radical judges and promoting diversity in the Senate, I have worked hard to advance issues."
Even before his ill-considered remarks were reported, a new survey released Saturday by the Las Vegas Review Journal showed Reid continuing to earn poor polling numbers. In the poll, by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research, Reid trailed former state Republican party chairwoman Sue Lowden by 10 percentage points, 50 percent to 40 percent, and also lagging behind two other opponents. More than half of Nevadans had an unfavorable opinion of Reid. Just 33 percent of respondents held a favorable opinion.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D) can not only get away with a "Negro" comment about The Anointed One, but go for over a year without apologizing -- AND remain in the Senate Democrat leadership. Former Senate Minority Leader Trent Lott (R) can mea culpa up one side and down the other for innocently praising one of his venerable senate colleagues (without using an N-word, mind you) and he is driven to resign his leadership post. The sheer hypocrisy of the Democrats (who will not call for Reid's resignation, you read it here first) is only overshadowed by the unadulterated cynicism of Reid's "apology."

At least we won't have to worry much after this November, when the good folk of Nevada will send Racist Reid back to his sleazy Nevada land deals as a private citizen.
