Penn State Investigates Michael Mann for Global Warming Fraud

Posted by Dave Blount at January 12, 2010 12:23 PM

Michael Mann — the charlatan who invented Al Gore's discredited hockey stick graph — is finally facing an inquiry into the propaganda he has been passing off as research. I would say he's going to be in the hot seat, except that the seat may only be comfortably warm, since his fellow government teat-suckers in Penn State's ivory tower aren't necessarily motivated to reveal the full extent of this Nittany Liar's pseudo-scientific misconduct.

[T]he initial probe involves a committee of just three, all of whom are Penn State employees with a clear interest in preserving the reputation of a university ranked ninth in the nation in receiving government research and development grants. It may raise some eyebrows to know that no outsiders will monitor the proceedings.
The stakes couldn't be higher. The perception of integrity in the climate research community will likely determine whether trillions of dollars are pumped into less-developed nations in the form of virtual reparations to atone for 150 years of unequal occupation of the so-called "carbon space" by more prosperous nations.

In addition to dreaming up the bogus hockey stick graph,

Mann also received email from Phil Jones, director of the University of East Anglia's Climate Research Unit, in which Jones appeared to suggest he had used a "trick" to "hide the decline" in global average temperatures. Another Jones note asks Mann to delete emails that were the target of a Freedom Of Information Act request.

The inquiry will be conducted by just three educrats. If they figure out that this is too big to sweep under the rug for the sake of keeping our money pouring into their pockets via Big Government, there will be a full investigation run by five tenured professors who have "no conflicts of interest and are competent to evaluate the issues objectively." Yeah right.

Even if their buddy Mann isn't treated to a whitewash, don't expect revelations into his fraudulence to make the evening news.

Funding agencies that channel public dollars to Mann's research would receive the report of the investigation committee's findings and any disciplinary action … but the circle of knowledge could end there.

But then, I doubt the liberal establishment media would find this newsworthy anyway.

Michael Mann performs his hit single Hide the Decline.

On a tip from Edward.
