Morning Briefs: Stuff You May Have Already Read Somewhere Else

Posted by Gregory of Yardale at November 23, 2009 5:17 AM

Good Morning Campers, Good Morning Perpetually Indignant Leftist People,

Item Number One: Senator Granny Clampett --- I mean, Harry Reid --- has declared that if the giant turd of a health care bill working its way through the senate becomes law, Americans will become immortal!

Today we vote whether to even discuss one of the greatest issues of our generation - indeed, one of the greatest issues this body has ever face: whether this nation will finally guarantee its people the right to live free from the fear of illness and death, which can be prevented by decent health care for all .

Delusions of grandeur much? So, if we can get immortality for $1 Trillion, how much will it cost for us to transform into beings of pure energy?

Item Number Two:
Maybe some of you saw the (wretched) series finale of Battlestar Galactica, in which the crew lands on prehistoric Earth and Dr. Cottle determines that the primitive proto-humans that inhabit the planet have at least some crude, minimal level of civilization by observing that they bury their dead.

New Mogadishu, the most liberal city in America, fails at even that basic level of civilized behavior.

Item Number Three: Reports that Senate Whore Mary "Nutgobbler" Landrieu sold out her vote on ObamaCare for $100 Million were inaccurate. It was actually $300 Million. Senator Nutgobbler is thanking her pimp, Big Daddy Reid, by holding a fundraiser for him.

And now, the stinger. If only James T. Kirk had met Mary Landrieu.

whether this nation will finally guarantee its people the right to live free from the fear of illness and death, which can be prevented by decent health care for all .

More and more this health care plan comes across like a deal with the Devil. "Sign here, and you'll live forever and never have to fear. The price? Oh, it's trivial..."

Oh well, never mind...

BSG finale was awful. Destroying the fleet and allowing Base Star full of Cylons to remain in operation that could one day return to wipe them out? Who thought of that stupid plot element? Reminds me of the lefty plot to have America disarm and be exposed to malevolent Communists (the Cyclons, they are both robots).

Also, the notion that a technologically advanced culture was going to give it up to become agrarian... never mind the fact the there were no real 'crops' to even be grown 150,000 years ago. The development of corn, wheat, and other staples required millennia of human intervention.

Detroit: The Crown Jewel of Leftist Socio-Economic Policy.

What was amazing in the BSG finale was that a few characters decide that the colonists should scrap all their spaceships and technology and settle a world with literally what they can carry, and tens of thousands of colonists agree.

My guess is that 90% of them were dead within the first five years of settling Earth.

Detroit is full of Obama voters who lined up to get Obama money. When asked where the money was coming from, none of them could say. One said it's Obama's money, he's the president. I guess for them it is true since none of them pay taxes.

Evil Otto, the colonists who died within the first five years were the progressive idiots who wanted to "get back to the land". Survival of the fittest.

Landrieu is an idiot. If Louisiana really needs $300M, why is she tying it to an albatross bill? In fact, Louisiana doesn't need it, she just wants something to campaign on next time. Good luck with that. After the senate bill fails to pass, she can explain the failure to deliver the promised $300M during her next campaign.

One more thing...I love where Landrieu says that her vote for cloture doesn't mean she'll vote in favor of the final bill. So we're to believe she would vote down the $100M she fought so hard to get?

Free from the fear of death?
Some policy.

A bit off-topic (But YOU brought it up).
A Star Trek fan made a study for his site showing that when Capt Kirk got laid, fewer or NO "redshirts" died!
