President Obama Takes Decisive Action on Afghanistan and Deficit Reduction

Posted by Gregory of Yardale at October 26, 2009 8:18 AM

Just kidding. Actually, while Americans were dying in Afghanistan and Iran was weaseling out of his nuclear deal, PBO he went out this weekend and played golf again. (Will Michael Moore make a snarky reference to Obama playing golf in a time of crisis in some future film highly critical of the leftist Democrat president? Magic 8 Ball says, "Don't Bet On it.")

But this golf game was remarkable for two reasons. First, as two of Moonbattery's clever and handsome regulars (SK and Ted) have noted, this game ties Obama with GW Bush for the number of golf games played in office. The progressive left thought Bush playing golf or vacationing was a telling indicator of his laziness and indifference to national concerns. In contrast, when PBO golfs or jets off to Martha's Vineyard, the progressive left treats as a well-earned break from a hard-working president. Whatever.

Second, this golf game demonstrates PBO taking decisive action in response to a serious national issue. PBO has dithered over sending reinforcements to/retreating from Afghanistan (where 14 more Americans died this weekend and whose president is questioning whether the USA is a reliable ally), and he has been completely deaf to criticism from the right about his massive deficits and expansion of government. But when feminists criticize him for not having enough girls in his scrimmages and golf outings, he snaps right into line.

President Obama was criticized by women’s advocates and liberal bloggers for hosting a high-level basketball game with no female players... The debate about the all-male game has become a nagging concern for a White House that has battled an impression dating to the campaign that Obama’s closest advisers form a boys’ club and that he is too frequently in the company of only men - not just when playing sports, but when making big decisions.

So, for his latest golf outing, he made sure he invited a woman, and made sure news cameras were there to see it.

What has America done to earn leadership such as this?

Maybe Code Pink should shout at him for the war then. bring our boys and girls home or send more there to help out!

What did America do to deserve this president? A lot, I think, starting in the 1960's, when college curricula changed and that change has now infused K-12 education as well. We teach a history that denigrates American culture and values and emphasizes America's mistakes (usually ignoring their historical contexts). We value youth and style over experience and substance. We are fed news primarily in one of two forms... soundbites or opinion masquerading as fact. We have bought into the myth that only liberals can be intellectuals and cultural leaders. This last has been particularly damaging.

We live in an extraordinarily discouraging time, and one can only hope that as the lefty boomers retire from the academy that a new phase of scholarly pursuit will ensue, and that the interpretations of America we've had shoved down our throats for the last 40 years will be tossed out the window as a new generation of scholars seeks tenure.

The far left has been patient and persistent infiltrating both our colleges and universities and mainstream media over the last 40 years. The younger generation of Americans who are buying into their propaganda, as evidenced by the election of Obama and turning complete control of the Congress over to the Democrats, are going to pay a terrible price for the brainwashing so many of them have so willingly accepted. They are watching the destruction of their future take place before their eyes and don't have a clue. How do I know? I teach college students every day.

Yaaaawwwnnn! Jerry that is some of the worst drivel I have ever read. The topic was on Afghanistan and golfing, not education. However, while I agree with Monnbattery's and Michael Moore's criticisms of Presidents off golfing during war time, you fail to mention that Bush spent more time on vacation than any other President.

As for the education system, you guys tend to blame liberals, yet neo-cons do not want to teach, therefore kids get the truth and not some glossed over bs about America's history. While I love this country, we have done some pretty bad things.

Ghost of Wellstone, you entirely miss the point which is not shocking. The devil is in the details that liberals demand that we over look and demand that we look at when it suits their purposes.

Let's take your example:
"You love this country that has done some pretty bad things."

Do you think that is anything but a passive-aggressive way that to say that you only approve of this country when it is doing what progressives think it should?

Let's take your phrase and apply it to my wife, please. "Honey, I love you thought you have done some pretty bad things." In that context, would you take the phrase as a loving phrase or a phrase meant to manipulating my wife into feeling guilty as to do more of what I, with emphasis, want her to do.

Ghost of Wellstone, at no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this blog is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Wellie, you diversionary apparatchik, the story is that Obama is fiddling while Rome burns and ended plainly with the question "What has America done to earn leadership such as this?"
Jerry was responding to the question.
If your real reason for comment was that Jerry was off-topic there was no need to criticise his remarks - this merely exposed your lack of class.

Since when does a Socialist (paid) whore and unborn baby killer like GoW have anything approaching class, Jim?

Posted by: SK at October 26, 2009 2:59 PM

Leave GoW alone people. It's not his fault that he is stupid. He went thru a horrible abortion attempt and he survived. Blame his retarded parents for aborting him wrong.

When the going gets tough the liberal go golfing

Posted by: SPURWING PLOVER at October 26, 2009 9:12 PM

First, To smooth things over with the liberal bloggers and female advocates, perhaps Chairman Teleprompter should have a pickup game of hoops with him and some his cabinet members or czars and invite, say the White House Press members. (Of course any Fox News correspondents would not be invited). It could be a classic game of "shirts versus skins." Oooh, maybe not, a disturbing image just popped into my mind--Helen Thomas playing as a "skin." For those of you eating lunch or have just finished eating lunch, my humble and sincere apoligies.

Second: Ghost, ..."Bush spent more time on vacation than any other President." Okay, you posted it. Prove it. Exactly how many times did he go on vacation during his eight years as president? How many days? Where? What did he do while on each of these vacations? Please provide verifiable proof and at least three refereces where the rest of us can check the facts for ourselves.

Someone is keeping track of the number of rounds of golf played. Obambi just checked in at number 24 rounds of golf. Twenty four in nine months. A little bit of math: at that rate in four years equals about 127 rounds of golf. Let's make it round number of 130--a few extra rounds thrown in for good measure.

Now, enlighten us with one of your well always thought out and perpetually intellegent resposes. We are all waiting.
