Global Cooling

Anyone who buys into the global warming farce must have forgotten the global cooling panic shoved down our throats in the 70s.

The more the lies change, the more the moonbattery stays the same.

On a tip from J.

I've posted this before but it's the daily chart of observed polar ice levels from the International Arctic Research Center and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, from 2002 to today:

“I believe the central parts of the [EPA] chart are that U.S. action alone will not impact world CO2 levels,” Administrator Jackson said.

Could we be wrong about global warming?

'Nature not man responsible for recent global warming...little or none of late 20th century warming and cooling can be attributed to humans'

Posted by: J at July 26, 2009 10:52 AM

I just goes to show that a lot of people have to be brought to the complete and utter brink of stupidity before rational thought can kick back in and stop them from actually stepping off the cliff. Mind you, plenty of these idiots will still step of the cliff with their eyes wide shut...

3,000 record low temps in July.

Sounds like global warming to me.

Lyle the biggist amount of HOT AIR is comming from the mouths of AL GORE and the jerks from GREENPEACE

Posted by: SPURWING PLOVER at July 26, 2009 11:44 AM

That last quote really points it all out: Follow the money.

Posted by: Henry at July 26, 2009 11:46 AM

The really interesting part is that the left posited exactly the same solution for both global warming and global cooling; destroy capitalism.

Posted by: V the K at July 26, 2009 11:47 AM

It's even more funny, expanding upon VtheK, is that they attribute the exact same "causes" of "global warming" as they did to "global cooling."

They don't know their ass from a hole in the ground.

Hopefully Hollywood and the Goracles can tell us how many SUVs we need to purchase and how long we need to run them to get it warm again. I mean we control the climate with these things don't we?

Why do liberals want to wreck our economy?!

Posted by: WillF at July 26, 2009 12:53 PM

Why do liberals want to wreck our economy?!

So they can replace it with their wacko vision of a Utopian socialist/communist government.

We are not that far away before liberals/progressives start claiming that the Constitution didn't work, and needs to be discarded and rewritten with their bizarro world vision.

Watch for it.

The planet is not unstable... the alarmists are.

Posted by: RICH at July 26, 2009 1:24 PM

Why do liberals want to wreck our economy?!
Excellent question

The answer actually has to do with psychology.
Because our economy is fundamentally made up of free and independent men, liberals, compacted and dependent, will always fall behind.

So in order to keep up, liberals in grasping for ankles, try to trip their betters.

Here's a concrete example: Put a 100 crabs in a barrel; call them liberals.
Some could escape the barrel by crawling up and over each other until the brim is reached.
But they never go higher than 2 crabs up.
Reason is, when one crab stands on another, a third will grab him and pull him down.

Thus no one crab ever prevails and escapes the barrel and all eventually die.
Oh also, crabs have absolutely no sense of humor about their situation.

The problem is that it looks like it is going to get very cold very fast. It doesn't matter who says it is getting warm or who says it is getting cold. Right--wrong, what's the difference when it comes down to a very very cold time that lasts, as far as we are concerned, forever? There will be some satisfaction, I suppose, in watching the turn about and reversal. But, it will be like winning a wrestling match with a hand grenade. It will not be as satisfying as it might have been.

The problem is that it looks like it is going to get very cold very fast.

No it doesn't.

Check that thing we orbit around--hear anything a little funny about it lately? It decides--your opinion--my opinion--they don't matter! It is the one thing humans can't influence and it looks like it is going to do something we won't like at all. If all that changes quickly and it goes back to normal, then we are back to the old opinion game. But that thing up there can make all of our chatter pretty meaningless if it keeps going the way it has been for the last two years.

Posted by: SnowSnake at July 26, 2009 7:40 PM

Snowsnake, are you talking about that strange sun spot that suddenly appeared and was doing the exact opposite it was supposed to do?

Posted by: Dave at July 26, 2009 7:45 PM

Yeah. Sunspots. The lack thereof. We had a couple show up for a few days and they were almost gone before the sun rotated them out of sight. There hasn't been any since. There haven't been many this year and they keep lowering the number of spots expected at maximum in 2013 and they keep delaying the expected time. That maximum is getting later and lower with each passing week with no spots. A couple of glee hoppers jumped on the two or three spots early in July and declared victory all over the internet and the media even as the sun spots faded away--it takes lots of spots over a period of months to get the numbers up to a point where they would be even normal. Solar Cycle 24 is getting very interesting and we are maybe on our way to a minimum past a Dalton and maybe a Maunder. Buy a parka or move south. Don't try to farm in the northern part of the country or Canada--she's a comin! Check the SOHO site and look at the archived MDI Continuum (that's what shows the spots)--you can compare blowups of sun and its spots or lack for different days and different times and even run a slide show. Go back to the time of the previous max and you'll see what it looks like when there are spots--now there are just a couple of dark pixels in what looks like a picture of an orange. The dark pixels never move as the sun rotates. Spots do. Anyway, that's the way it has looked for a couple hundred days since this time last year.

Every glacier in the world is smaller than it once was. All the world is growing warmer,

Evidently AGW is a lot older than I thought.

^^ What's the bet they pass cap and trade anyway?

Posted by: mandible claw at July 27, 2009 12:55 AM

The world's glaciers are not shrinking at least not as much as Gore's credibility. Here are a few clips--but if you want more just search a little--of course you can find some stuff that is just not true because it is being generated by the same people who can make money off cap and trade or a career off pandering to them. But like a sun without spots, a mountain of ice that is growing gets pretty hard to ignore when it starts crushing villages and blocking harbors. Opinions that it is shrinking start to look pretty silly when the damn thing is right there and getting closer. The ships delivering supplies in Antartica used to be able to get 10 miles closer, they look at all that ice and say, "What the hell is going on with this global warming?"

"Let’s ignore the East Antarctic Ice
Sheet, which covers almost five million square miles, and is growing. Growing! The East Antarctic Ice Sheet is
almost 100 times bigger than all of the rest of the world's
glaciers put together, which means that 90 percent of the world’s glaciers are growing.

"Hubbard Glacier is defying the global paradigm of valley or mountain glacier shrinkage and retreat in response to global climate warming. Hubbard Glacier is the largest of eight calving glaciers in Alaska that are currently increasing in total mass and advancing. All of these glaciers calve into the sea, are at the heads of long fiords, have undergone retreats during the last 1,000 years, calve over relatively shallow submarine moraines, and have unusually small ablation areas compared to their accumulation areas."

"One of Greenland’s largest glaciers has already doubled its rate of advance, moving forward at the rate of 12 kilometers (7.2 miles) per year." To see a transcript of the documentary, go to

"Perito Moreno Glacier, the largest glacier in Argentina, is growing. Pio XI Glacier, the largest glacier in Chile, is growing. Glaciers are growing on Mt. Logan, the tallest mountain in Canada. Glaciers are growing on Mt. Blanc, the tallest mountain in France."

"Glaciers (230 of them) are growing in the Western Himalayas. Glaciers are growing in Norway. Recently, all 50 glaciers in New Zealand were growing. Glaciers in Greenland are growing thicker. And contrary to what we’ve being told, the Antarctic Ice Sheet is growing, not shrinking."

Sunspots, minimums, maximums, warming, cooling....
I just got an education. Thanks. I think I'll stay in Florida and drag out my winter coat. Whaddaya wanna bet Owlgore has his place set up on the equator!

Posted by: JoeShmoe at July 27, 2009 9:19 AM

Glaciers have been shrinking since the last ice age. The Great Lakes were formed by retreating glaciers.

Dig that global warming.
