Muslim Extremists Get a Pass on Hate Crimes

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:25 AM

One of the first casualties of political correctness is the fundamental principle of equality before the law — as we see in multiculti Britainistan, which demonstrates once again the injustice of hate crimes legislation:

Police will be ordered not to charge Muslim extremists in many hate crime cases — to stop them becoming more militant. …
Examples of crimes to which a blind eye may be turned include incitement to religious hatred … critics warned that the move could mean Islamic radicals being give the freedom to encourage violence.

These racist critics fail to understand that when you punish Muslims for hate crimes, it only makes them more hateful. Whereas if you punish Britons for hate crimes, it makes them realize how shameful they are for not embracing dhimmitude.

The move follows an updated Home Office counter-terrorism strategy announced earlier this year. The new strategy urges preventative measures to win round potential extremists instead of arrest and prosecution.

Obviously exempting Muslims from "borderline" hate crimes that would get a white guy thrown in jail, thereby encouraging the spread of homicidal radicalism, is a key component to "preventative measures" against terror.

Past attempts to win over potential Muslim radicals have frequently run into controversy. Millions of pounds have been pledged to fund Muslim groups, drawing claims that they are receiving special treatment.

Muslims receive special treatment from the moonbat establishment at everyone else's expense? To even suggest it borders on a hate crime.

Britain's quislings once again assist in the conquest.

MSNBC Wants Glenn Beck Fired

Glenn Beck has been touching some nerves. The leftist freaks at MSNBC, not content to denounce him as a racist, are screeching that he must be fired for noticing that their Moonbat Messiah really is a racist. From First Read:

What's most amazing about this episode is that what Beck said isn't a fireable or even a SUSPENDABLE offense by his bosses. There was a time when outrageous rants like this would actually cost the ranters their jobs.

$60 Billion for Zero Green Jobs

Van Jones, a communist and black nationalist, is Comrade Obama's Green Jobs Czar. How many green jobs has he produced so far? Exactly none. Even Newsreek has stopped snuffling Obama's coattails long enough to raise an eyebrow:

President Obama devoted nearly $60 billion of his stimulus package to building a new green-based economy rich in renewable energy and strategies to cut carbon. But despite the price tag, not one green job yet exists.

It turns out no one even knows what a green job is. At least they didn't spend the $60 billion on avant-garde porn.

Van Jones promises to figure out what a green job is soon.

Roseanne Barr's Reenactment of the Holocaust

What do you get when a left-wing magazine catering to self-hating Jews features one of the most unhinged moonbats in Hollywood? This:

From Heeb's bizarre puff piece on the shrill leftist Roseanne Barr, who thinks she might be the reincarnation of Hitler:

As the "Domestic Goddess" dons the famous moustache, transforming into "Domestic Goddess Hitler," I notice that she's beginning to have fun. She nails the Fuehrer's facial expressions with twisted glee, and as she takes the burnt gingerbread "Jew Cookies" out of the oven it occurs to me that Barr may be the last celebrity utterly incapable of giving a {EXPLETIVE DELETED} …
When the photographer suggests that we pose together for a quick snapshot, I put my arm around this slightly eccentric drinker and pot smoker who gets off on dressing like a Nazi, and it dawns on me: I adore her. No-touching protocol be damned, I lean in to plant a kiss on her cheek, and, to my surprise, she turns toward me and puckers her lips. The nerves I'm feeling now are of a completely different variety.

If you can make sense of this insanity, you can probably explain how Hamas' choice for President got 77% of the Jewish vote.

Roseanne is Jewish, and regards Israel as a "Nazi state."

How Reckless Overspending Might Lead to Treason

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:25 AM

If true, this would meet any reasonable definition of treason:

The fact that China's share of U.S. treasuries not known, but is estimated to be over a trillion dollars, has many economists worried. If the country were to seek the U.S. guarantees on these bonds, there is very real possibility that an economic collapse would result that would be even more devastating than the Great Depression.
Meanwhile … the Chinese military is attempting to develop its own version of the stealth bomber but lacks the necessary technology to do so.
During the G20 Summit, President Obama spoke to Chinese Premier Hu Jintao. At this time, Mr. Hu suggested that if the U.S. provided relevant military technology, that the Chinese government would forgive some U.S. debt.
According to insiders, there is much turmoil in the Department of the Defense over Obama's suggestion that they sell the blueprints for the B-2 Spirit stealth bomber. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates has openly opposed the President's plan. As a result, Gates was asked to resign as Defense secretary if he does not wish to get the ball rolling.

This obviously requires confirmation, but it can't be denied that the massive debt Obama has been running up seriously compromises our national security.

Stimulus Loot Funds Avant-Garde Pornography

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:19 AM

We know that the vast fortune our liberal rulers have been flinging to the four winds hasn't created jobs, so where has it all gone? Fox News managed to track down $80 million:

The National Endowment for the Arts may be spending some of the money it received from the Recovery and Reinvestment Act to fund nude simulated-sex dances, Saturday night "pervert" revues and the airing of pornographic horror films at art houses in San Francisco. …
A few of their more risque choices have some taxpayer advocates hot under the collar, including a $50,000 infusion for the Frameline film house, which recently screened Thundercrack, "the world's only underground kinky art porno horror film, complete with four men, three women and a gorilla."

While the economy swirls down the drain because investors can't get cash, $25,000 of our money went to

help fund the weekly production of "Perverts Put Out" at San Francisco's CounterPULSE, whose "long-running pansexual performance series" invites guests to "join your fellow pervs for some explicit, twisted fun."

NEA spokeswoman Victoria Hutter crows with pride:

Our review process is very comprehensive — we take great care with applicants and with grantees. It's a thorough, rigorous process that they all go through, and we're proud of the projects that we've been able to support.

Degenerate bureauweenies must take particular pride in having shoveled $25,000 at "The Symmetry Project," a dance show that depicts "the sharing of a central axis, [as] spine, mouth, genitals, face, and anus reveal their interconnectedness and centrality in embodied experience."

In the flesh — and there's a lot of it — it amounts to two people writhing naked on the floor, a government-funded tango in the altogether.

According to Luis R. Cancel, director of cultural affairs for the San Francisco Arts Council, this perverted garbage will "generate revenue while enriching people's lives."

If it really did generate revenue, it wouldn't require a bailout. In a culture that has been plunging headlong into degeneracy, you would think porn would be one industry that could turn a profit. But of course, Big Government only subsidizes porn so pretentious and weird that no one wants to look at it.

Dan Rather Wants News Media Run by Comrade Obama

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:25 AM

Disgraced left-wing propagandist Dan Rather, whose illustrious career imploded when he tried to torpedo W's reelection with last minute lies about his National Guard service backed up by forged documents, is calling upon Comrade Obama to bail out the dinosaur media that he so risibly personifies.

As if the relationship between the Obama Administration and the news media weren't cozy enough already, former "CBS Evening News" anchor Dan Rather is calling on President Obama to "make recommendations" for the media on how to survive the economic downturn.
Rather spoke at the Aspen Institute in Aspen, Colo. on July 28 and addressed challenges to the news industry, which he described as challenges to the "very survival of American democracy," and insisted the president should step in.
"I personally encourage the president to establish a White House commission on public media," Rather said, according to the July 29 Aspen Daily News.
According to the story, Rather said "corporate and political influence" on newsrooms had damaged the industry and was cause for concern.
"A truly free and independent press is the red beating heart of democracy and freedom," Rather said in an interview. "This is not something just for journalists to be concerned about, and the loss of jobs and the loss of newspapers, and the diminution of the American press' traditional role of being the watchdog on power. This is something every citizen should be concerned about."

By "truly free and independent," he means controlled by his fellow leftists in the government, and propped up with money expropriated by force.

The absurdity of advocating a Chavez-style government takeover of the news media in the name of preserving democracy shouldn't be lost even on idiots — Blather himself apparently excepted.

Market Dries Up for US Debt

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:44 AM

Apparently this never occurred to the profligate fools in Congress who go along with Obama's deliberately disastrous Cloward-Piven economic policy, but there are limits to how much the government can borrow:

The U.S. Treasury sold $39 billion in five-year debt Wednesday in an auction that drew poor demand, raising worries over the cost of financing the government's burgeoning budget deficit. … Under the weight of the ballooning deficit, the government has raised auction volumes and analysts now wonder whether the strain on the market is showing.
…dealers drove an unexpectedly hard bargain to raise yields, and lower prices, to buy the bonds. Ultimately, this could raise interest rates throughout the economy at a faster rate than might be appropriate given the lingering effects of the worst recession in decades. …
The government plans to issue $2 trillion in new bonds this year to finance economic and financial rescues.
Treasury auctions have come under particularly close scrutiny since investors began to question the longevity of the United States' prized AAA credit rating back in May.

Thanks to the leadership moonbats have seen fit to inflict on this country, we are on our way to the second-class status of a debtor nation that can't pay its bills. But that's okay; if the ChiComs won't lend us any more money, we can just crank up the printing presses even faster — or maybe add zeroes to the currency, like they do in Zimbabwe. Home Depot Recruits Children as Homosexual Props

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:44 AM

Time to locate the nearest Lowe's. From

According to the Nashville Gay Pride website, Home Depot gave over $5,000 to be a major sponsor of its 2009 Gay Pride Festival in June. But simply financing the event wasn't enough for the big box chain.
Home Depot also signed on as a vendor, conducting kid's craft workshops for children via a special booth set up just for them.
To this end, Home Depot is basically encouraging the attendance of children at events which openly expose them to transvestites, cross-dressers, and homosexual activities.
Unfortunately, Home Depot's participation in the Nashville Pride Festival doesn't stand alone. It has also sponsored kid's booths at other gay events in Atlanta, Kansas City, Durham, Portland, and San Diego.

To get an idea of what goes on at some "Gay Pride" events, I refer those with extremely strong stomachs to Zombie's coverage of Up Your Alley. Exposing children to this level of depravity ought to be good for an express ticket to the inner circle of hell.

Here We Go Again With Racial Profiling

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:41 AM

As intended, Comrade Obama's prime time assault on the police for doing their job despite the flak they get from jerks like his friend Skip Gates has brought the issue of "racial profiling" back into the news. Heather MacDonald injects a little sanity into the moonbattery:

[G]iven black crime rates, proactive urban policing will inevitably produce disparate stop and arrest rates. In New York, for example, blacks commit about 82 percent of all shootings, though they are 24 percent of the population; whites commit less than 1 percent of shootings, though they are 35 percent of the population.
Such disparities — which are typical of violent crime across the country — mean that when the police are searching for a gun suspect, they will almost never be stopping whites based on a victim identification, but will disproportionately be questioning blacks. As long as crime rates remain as unevenly distributed racially as they are, police activity will be as well.

No one benefits more from proactive policing than the minorities race-baiters like Obama pretend to champion. But liberal racism isn't about helping minorities. It's about reducing them to farm animals that can be milked for their votes.

Ian Plimer Takes the Long View on the Global Warming Hoax

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:53 AM

The drones who choose to believe in the global warming farce take the short view. But not geology professor Ian Plimer of Adelaide University in his book Earth — Global Warming: The Missing Science.

Plimer presents the proposition that anthropogenic global warming is little more than a con trick on the public perpetrated by fundamentalist environmentalists and callously adopted by politicians and government officials who love nothing more than an issue that causes public anxiety.
While environmentalists for the most part draw their conclusions based on climate information gathered in the last few hundred years, geologists, Plimer says, have a time frame stretching back many thousands of millions of years.
The dynamic and changing character of the Earth's climate has always been known by geologists. These changes are cyclical and random, he says. They are not caused or significantly affected by human behaviour.
Polar ice, for example, has been present on the Earth for less than 20 per cent of geological time, Plimer writes. Plus, animal extinctions are an entirely normal part of the Earth's evolution. …
Plimer gets especially upset about carbon dioxide, its role in Earth's daily life and the supposed effects on climate of human manufacture of the gas. He says atmospheric carbon dioxide is now at the lowest levels it has been for 500 million years, and that atmospheric carbon dioxide is only 0.001 per cent of the total amount of the chemical held in the oceans, surface rocks, soils and various life forms. Indeed, Plimer says carbon dioxide is not a pollutant, but a plant food. Plants eat carbon dioxide and excrete oxygen. Human activity, he says, contributes only the tiniest fraction to even the atmospheric presence of carbon dioxide.
There is no problem with global warming, Plimer says repeatedly. He points out that for humans periods of global warming have been times of abundance when civilization made leaps forward. Ice ages, in contrast, have been times when human development slowed or even declined.

If only it really were getting warmer — instead of colder.

Obama's Science Czar: Babies Aren't Human Until They've Been Socialized

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:17 AM

A large part of the horror of abortion lies in the monstrous presumption of liberals declaring that human life begins not at conception, but whenever they say it does. Maybe that's six weeks, maybe six months. Maybe it's years. Obama's Science Czar John Holdren (the guy who wanted to put a sterilizing agent in our drinking water) gives us an idea of how slippery this slope can get. From his book Human Ecology: Problems and Solutions, via Patterico's Pontifications:

The fetus, given the opportunity to develop properly before birth, and given the essential early socializing experiences and sufficient nourishing food during the crucial early years after birth, will ultimately develop into a human being.

We knew that human fetuses aren't human, according to liberal ideology. Now we learn that they remain nonhuman even after they are born, until such a time as priests of The State like Holdren deem them to have been sufficiently socialized.

Genocide has long been used by progressives to advance their objectives. Violating his pact with Stalin put Hitler out of favor, but Margaret Sanger — who openly advocated industrial-scale abortion as a form of social engineering — is still a hero to our rulers.

If they can kill babies, who wouldn't they kill? Their only restraint is their squeamishness, which they overcome with bogus euphemisms (CHOICE!) and by yelling inane bumper sticker slogans (SAFE LEGAL AND RARE!) loudly enough to drown out thought. Once you turn against God, conscience isn't a factor.

Still not human.

No Laughing at Doctor Obama

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:25 AM

In light of the catastrophic consequences it will inevitably have regarding the cost, quality, and accessibility of healthcare, ObamaCare is no laughing matter. But that's not why a doctor got in big trouble for passing along this harmless and widely circulated joke:

St. Petersburg neurosurgeon David McKalip has been active in the resistance to Obama's planned seizure of the healthcare industry. But no longer, now that it's been learned that he forwarded the picture above, incurring the establishment's sanctimonious wrath.

The absurd incident perfectly illustrates how Comrade Obama's special skin color — which got him into office in the first place — is exploited to help him ram through a socialist agenda that virtually no one outside the media agrees with. An opponent of Marxist healthcare has been removed from the battlefield.

McKalip is withdrawing himself, at least temporarily, from the public eye, canceling interviews that were scheduled regarding health care reform, and removing himself from prominent positions, such as those with the American Medical Association and the Pinellas County Medical Association.
Other people can take up the anti-government stance on health care he has been espousing, he said. For him to continue speaking publicly, after the dust-up over the Obama picture, would serve as a distraction.

Once the media was able to connect his name to the picture, McKalip was toast.

Within hours, the Florida Medical Association denounced what McKalip had done in a statement posted Thursday on its Web site and the organization called on him to apologize.
"The Florida Medical Association is an organization with a zero tolerance for racist or discriminatory behavior," the statement said "As such, we do not condone the circulation of what has been described by the press as a racist depiction of President Obama by David McKalip, M.D. […yadda yadda yadda…] The Florida Medical Association is disappointed by Dr. McKalip's actions and urges Dr. McKalip to extend President Obama an apology for this egregious deed."

Egregious, for crying out loud.

I'm guessing that if ObamaCare passes, McKalip won't have to wait until he's 65 to start being denied healthcare.

ObamaCare Will Rid Us of Useless Eaters

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:19 AM

The defeat of Nazi Germany was a big setback for the progressive cause, but under Chairman Zero, it's making up ground fast. A key player in his bid to seize control of the healthcare industry is Ezekiel Emanuel, brother of top teleprompter programmer Rahm "Dead Fish" Emanuel. Ezekiel

wants doctors to look beyond the needs of their patients and consider social justice, such as whether the money could be better spent on somebody else.
Many doctors are horrified by this notion; they'll tell you that a doctor's job is to achieve social justice one patient at a time.
Emanuel, however, believes that "communitarianism" should guide decisions on who gets care. He says medical care should be reserved for the non-disabled, not given to those "who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens … An obvious example is not guaranteeing health services to patients with dementia" (Hastings Center Report, Nov.-Dec. '96).
Translation: Don't give much care to a grandmother with Parkinson's or a child with cerebral palsy.

Here's how Ezekiel defends denying healthcare to the elderly:

Unlike allocation by sex or race, allocation by age is not invidious discrimination; every person lives through different life stages rather than being a single age. Even if 25-year-olds receive priority over 65-year-olds, everyone who is 65 years now was previously 25 years (Lancet, Jan. 31).

You had your chance to be young. Now you're done paying taxes so die already.

Welcome to Logan's Run.

Emanuel has found a final solution to old age.

And now police fear the bizarre trend will spread to the UK and the rest of Europe.
Eco-friendly Smart cars are small enough to be picked up by just a few people and dumped into the Dutch capital's canals, reports De Telegraaf newspaper.
One victim Casper de Jong was woken by police after they found his Smart floating in the waterway outside his apartment.
Mr de Jong said: "Several weeks ago the same thing happened to my companion's Smart. Both cars were a complete write-off."

At least it's better to have your goofy Smart car tossed into the drink than to be in it during a collision with a real car.

Maybe not the smartest thing to drive.

A Horror Film Unfolding

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:48 AM

There's more to ObamaCare than skyrocketing taxes, waiting lists, rationing, and substandard care. A takeover of the healthcare system by left-wing bureaucrats will also mean more of this:

A New York nurse claims she was forced to choose between her religious convictions and her job when Mount Sinai Hospital ordered her to assist in a late-term abortion against her will.
The hospital even exaggerated the patient's condition and claimed the woman could die if the nurse, a devout Catholic, did not follow orders, the nurse alleges in a lawsuit.
"It felt like a horror film unfolding," said Catherina Cenzon-DeCarlo, 35, who claims she has had gruesome nightmares and hasn't been able to sleep since the May 24 incident.

Yes, that's exactly how the Obamunist push to Stalinize healthcare feels. The guy who voted to deny medical care to children who are born alive after attempted abortions could soon be dictating every detail of how hospitals are run.

Skip Gates Takes the Stage

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:47 PM

Just how nuts are the communists and black supremacist maniacs Comrade Obama has run with all his life? This video of his pal Henry "Skip" Gates offers another clue:

What a surprise: He loves race quotas, and hates the South so much he doesn't even like to fly over North Carolina. Skip sure sticks it to that Uncle Tom Clarence Thomas! Dropping the N-bomb really establishes his authenticity, doesn't it?

Here's how the great Ivy League professor characterizes the 1994 Contract With America:

Newt Gingrich and company, that contract for America is serious. You know what those guys have said? "All right, somehow, while we were asleep, all you white women and all you black people got into the middle class. We're not sure how it happened, but the first thing we're gonna do is we're gonna shake the tree and any of y'all can't hold on, y'all are going back. And the second thing, we're gonna set up barriers, so that no more of you all can get in here."

How constructive. Thanks to the Affirmative Action he so adores, this obnoxious, irresponsible, half-witted, lying jackass passes for a Harvard professor now. Worst still, he is a friend of our President and a member of the inner circle of our ruling class.

The Swamp That Produced Henry Gates — and Obama

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:41 AM

Comrade Obama's friendship with Harvard's highly paid professional racist Henry Louis Gates has offered another chilling look into the milieu that produced our Community Activist in Chief. Regarding Gates' associations:

Since 1991, Gates has been teaching African American studies at Harvard, where he serves as the director of the W. E. B. Du Bois Institute for African and African American Research. De Bois, an American civil rights activist, sociologist, historian and author, was an avowed communist… In 1927 he infamously traveled to the USSR, where he called the Soviet system "the most hopeful vehicle for the world." …
Du Bois joined the Communist Party USA in 1961. He emigrated to Ghana, where he became a naturalized citizen, living in the country's socialist police state. Two years later, the Communist Party named its new youth group the W.E.B. DuBois Clubs.
Serving as director for the Harvard institute immortalizing Du Bois, Gates cultivated black radicals to his race studies department, most prominently bringing in Cornel West, a controversial adviser on Louis Farrakhan's Million Man March with close ties to socialist and black extremist groups. West is a declared personal friend of Farrakhan. … Gates authored two books with West, a long-time member and honorary chair of the Democrat Socialists of America. West served on the black advisory board of Obama's presidential campaign.
From a young age, West proclaimed he admired "the sincere black militancy of Malcolm X, the defiant rage of the Black Panther Party … and the livid black [liberation] theology of James Cone."

What a coincidence: the viciously racist, Marxist diatribes of this same James Cone also inspired Jeremiah Wright, who was Obama's spiritual mentor for 20 years before getting thrown under the bus out of political expediency.

The radical anti-American, anti-liberty, anti-Caucasian movement that spawned The Anointed One is a small world, fortunately.

Gates with yet another unsavory associate.

Meditation-Powered Cell Phone

We don't need fossil fuels or nuclear power. We can run our economy on alternative energy. For example, there's a cell phone powered by meditation:

From Industrial Designer Clara Zamboni from the University of Buenos Aires comes this handheld meditation power converter. Imagine Bruce Lee, trapped in the three-door-room after his nun-chuck fight on the island, just sitting there, meditating on his next move. He could have totally been charging his cellphone while he was just chillin! Twiddling thumb.
Using Nonogenerators, (link kindly provided by Clara Zamboni*), this device called Lotus is able to convert the energy you create by spinning its thumb pad into energy your cell phone can use as power. Lately keeping an eye on the polls is a guilty pleasure. It makes me feel like a vulture watching a lost hiker stagger through the desert under a blistering sun. But I can't help indulging. After dipping even lower over the weekend, Comrade Obama's approval index is currently -10 per Rasmussen:

Chairman Zero's numbers don't look quite as bad if you believe a poll done over a week ago by his enthusiastic enablers at the Washington Post. Yet even there we see this:

Conservatives now beat liberals by a nearly 2:1 margin, and we're only beginning to feel the disastrous effects of putting a Marxist in charge of the government. Obama will do for the conservative movement what he's already done for gun sales and Rush Limbaugh's audience.

Defacing the Bible as Taxpayer-Funded Art

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:37 AM

It would be nice to think that moonbats are merely misguided. Many are, but at the core of their ideology, we find something very different from honest error. Vicious hatred of everything sacred is no accident:

A publicly funded exhibition is encouraging people to deface the Bible in the name of art — and visitors have responded with abuse and obscenity.
The show includes a video of a woman ripping pages from the Bible and stuffing them into her bra, knickers and mouth.
The open Bible is a central part of 'Made in God's Image,' an exhibition at the Gallery of Modern Art in Glasgow. By the book is a container of pens and a notice saying: "If you feel you have been excluded from the Bible, please write your way back into it."
The exhibit, Untitled 2009, was proposed by the Metropolitan Community Church, which said that the idea was to reclaim the Bible as a sacred text. But to the horror of many Christians, including the community church, visitors have daubed its pages with comments such as "This is all sexist pish, so disregard it all." A contributor wrote on the first page of Genesis: "I am Bi, Female & Proud. I want no god who is disappointed in this."
The Church of Scotland expressed concern, the Roman Catholic Church called the exhibit infantile, and a Christian lawyers' group said that the exhibition was symptomatic of a broken and lawless society.

What it is symptomatic of is moonbattery, the same godless corrosion that has destroyed Britain and rendered its fetid remnants so broken and lawless.

The exhibition has been created by the artists Anthony Schrag and David Malone, in association with organizations representing gay Christians and Muslims. Mr Schrag, the gallery's artist in residence, said that he did not believe in God, but that his research for the show had underlined his respect for people of faith.

Gay Christians and Muslims. These organizations ought to branch out and represent all "Christians and Muslims" who are proud to wallow in forms of depravity explicitly condemned by the religions they mock.

The community church, which celebrates "racial, cultural, linguistic, sexual, gender and theological diversity," had suggested the "interactive" Bible and pens and Mr Schrag, 34, said he had been intrigued.

Naturally bureaucrats regarded this project as a suitable rat hole to pour taxpayer money down.

ObamaCare Bill Uses Forbidden Term "Retarded"

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:18 AM

Now we know no one in Congress actually read the healthcare Stalinization bill they're trying to ram through for Comrade Obama's eager signature. On page 389 (massive PDF), it actually uses the term "mentally retarded." According to the bizarre but rigidly enforced linguistic rules of political correctness, that's almost as bad as calling someone from China a "Chinaman."

Using taxpayer money to crush a baby's skull and suck its brains out for being suspected of having mental deficiencies is fine, according to liberals, but calling it retarded? That's insensitive.

Michael Savage Was Banned From Britain to Meet Non-Muslim Quota

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:04 AM

Now we know why conservative talk show host Michael Savage has been banned from entering Britain. Turns out they have an informal quota for non-Muslims on the no-entry list. No, I'm not kidding:

Emails written by Home Office officials privately acknowledged the ban on Mr Savage would provide 'balance' to a list dominated by Muslims - and linked the decision to Gordon Brown and Foreign Secretary David Miliband. …
Mr Savage, who had not even applied for entry to Britain, claimed his name had been 'plucked out of a hat' because he was 'controversial and white'. He has since served a £100,000 libel writ on Ms Smith, who announced his ban on television.
Now, correspondence released under Freedom of Information legislation suggests the banning of Mr Savage, whose real name is Michael Weiner, was based on a party political calculation made at the highest level of Government. …
The documents include a draft recommendation, marked 'Restricted', saying: 'We will want to ensure that the names disclosed reflect the broad range of cases and are not all Islamic extremists.'
A further email confirmed the decision was approved at the highest level of Government, saying: 'HO [Home Office] intend to include Weiner in their quarterly stats… Both the FS [Foreign Secretary] and PM [Prime Minister] are firmly behind listing and naming such people.'
One civil servant, again unnamed, counselled caution, saying: 'I think we could be accused of duplicity in naming him' - without explaining why - and even added that 'the fact that he is homophobic does help'.

Since Islam is and has always been rabidly hostile to Christianity, Judaism, and Western Civilization, the only way liberals can compel themselves to condemn it is from the point of view of moral relativism. They'll admit Islamic terrorists want to reduce London to a smoking ruin if they can put that on equal footing with the Jewish Michael Savage failing to endorse the homosexual agenda.

Next the bean-counting liberals will impose their quotas in the courts. Every time a Muslim is arrested for blowing up a bus, they'll throw a Christian in jail for having politically incorrect thoughts regarding the difference between right and wrong.

Why Healthcare Costs Keep Rising, and ObamaCare Would Make Them Rise Faster

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:33 PM

One reason medical costs keep rising is the ongoing looting bonanza by slimy John Edwards-type trial lawyers. But an even greater problem is our rulers' refusal to stem the tide of illegal colonists from the Third World that is literally sweeping our country away. Some testimony from Carol Plato, the director of corporate business services for Martin Memorial Medical Center in Stuart, Florida:

Under ObamaCare, free medical care will be provided to anyone who walks across our unguarded border and demands it. A Republican attempt to restrict free care for illegals was shot down.

The cost of providing free medical care to the entire Third World is obviously unsustainable. It's supposed to be. We are witnessing an application of the Cloward-Piven strategy, which is well-known among community activist types like Obama. The idea is to overload the government with more expenses than it can possibly handle, resulting in the collapse of our economy — paving the way for communism.

If Obama is not stopped, we will soon be waiting in line all day for stale bread, just like they did in the first Soviet Union. Medical care? In the Soviet Union I, it usually consisted of a bottle of vodka to numb the pain. But of course, progressives disapprove of alcohol, and socialized medicine would provide an excellent excuse to ban it again (or tax it beyond the reach of normal Americans), this time on health grounds.

Let's get the weekend off to the right start with a little good news. Despite the relentless barrage of propaganda from the liberal establishment media that got him into power, people are waking up regarding our Community Activist in Chief.

At the height of the hype in January, the Moonbat Messiah's approval index (strongly approve minus strongly disapprove) was +30. Now look at it:

You'll note that after only 6 months in office, Comrade Obama's approval index stands at -8. Total approval/disapproval, which lags because it includes people less likely to follow politics closely, has him already in the negative, 49%/51%.

Good thing for our "post-racial" president that he gets 97% approval from blacks. But even that might not last:

While most African-American voters (56%) still say the country is heading in the right direction, that's down seven points over the past week. Only 28% of white voters agree, showing no change from the previous survey. A quarter (25%) of all other voters says the country is headed in the right direction this week, down three points.

Sorry, media. You can fool some of the people some of the time, but it takes a special kind of arrogance to feed them a cow patty and tell them it's prime rib. Not too many will be asking for seconds.

As this whole farce comes unraveled, some in the media will go down with the Titanic, in the belief that The Anointed One is too big to fail. Others, in an attempt to salvage some credibility, will climb aboard the lifeboats by reporting objectively for a change. That's when BHO's numbers will go into a tailspin.

Why Shrillary Could Lose Her Job

Shrillary is a phony, corrupt, authoritarian, left-wing statist whom I used to regard as the closest thing in Washington to pure evil. But that was before Comrade Obama and his Politburo came to town. Check out why she may soon get canned:

[L]ate last week, the Los Angeles Times acquired a statement from White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel stating that Secretary Clinton was on 'thin ice.' Most troubling to the White House have been several statements pertaining to US foreign policy which were not cleared by the White House. One was a statement in which Clinton stated that she "hoped democracy would triumph" in Iran.

Police Dismayed by Obama's Race-Baiting

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:33 AM

It may be disgraceful and absurd that the President of the United States would make a point of publicly siding with professional racist Henry Louis Gates Jr., who deliberately got himself arrested by badgering cops, but it is entirely consistent with the race-obsessed, ultra-left milieu that produced our Community Organizer in Chief. However, that doesn't mean the police have to like it:

Many police officers across the country have a message for President Barack Obama: Get all the facts before criticizing one of our own. Obama's public criticism that Cambridge officers "acted stupidly" when they arrested black Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. could make it harder for police to work with people of color, some officers said Thursday.
It could even set back the progress in race relations that helped Obama become the nation's first African-American president, they said.
"What we don't need is public safety officials across the country second-guessing themselves," said David Holway, president of the International Brotherhood of Police Officers, which represents 15,000 public safety officials around the country. "The president's alienated public safety officers across the country with his comments."

Even while admitting that he didn't know what happened, Obama denounced the police as racist for asking a suspected burglar to show his ID despite his politically sacred skin color. This is particularly rich considering not only that Gates is a highly paid professional bigot, but that Obama himself made his hatred of Caucasians a matter of public record in Dreams of My Father. Chairman Zero won't stand up for America when facing foreign dictators, but he does stand by his disgraceful comments.

You can't blame cops for not being terribly fond of Barack O'Bigot. But that's okay, because soon he will have his own personal law enforcement spread throughout the country, according to Dr. Laurie Roth:

Just this week I was talking to a high level contact who had just talked with a member of the Homeland Security Dept. They revealed to him that Obama is planning to nationalize every security force that currently guards any military structure and all 800,000 Government buildings. Currently these buildings and facilities have been guarded by private security companies … not when Obama is through. This will immediately put thousands of security companies and hundreds of thousands of workers out of business.
Hundreds of thousands more jobs of private security companies will be gone but even more chilling, Obama will have a national police force, peppered through out the country, in every city where there are any Government buildings or military sites of any kind. The question every American, liberal, conservative, black or white should be asking is WHY does Obama plan to have a national police and security force?

The answer: as the tragicomedy of this Marxist punk's presidency comes unraveled, law enforcement will be called upon to enforce orders that would make normal cops balk. You can't say Comrade Obama didn't warn us in advance.

obama fascist
Chairman Zero doesn't need normal cops. He'll lead his own.

Scientists Confirm That Global Warming Is a Lie

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:28 AM

A peer-reviewed article in the Journal of Geophysical Research confirms what anyone who isn't drunk on Kool-Aid has already figured out: fluctuations in the climate are not caused by capitalism. Via Climate Depot:

According to this study little or none of the late 20th century global warming and cooling can be attributed to human activity.
The research, by Chris de Freitas, a climate scientist at the University of Auckland in New Zealand, John McLean (Melbourne) and Bob Carter (James Cook University), finds that the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is a key indicator of global atmospheric temperatures seven months later. As an additional influence, intermittent volcanic activity injects cooling aerosols into the atmosphere and produces significant cooling.
"The surge in global temperatures since 1977 can be attributed to a 1976 climate shift in the Pacific Ocean that made warming El Niño conditions more likely than they were over the previous 30 years and cooling La Niña conditions less likely" says corresponding author de Freitas.
"We have shown that internal global climate-system variability accounts for at least 80% of the observed global climate variation over the past half-century. It may even be more if the period of influence of major volcanoes can be more clearly identified and the corresponding data excluded from the analysis."

Fluctuations in solar activity account for most of what El Niño and volcanoes don't. Even if CO2 has any effect at all, the vast majority of it is generated naturally. The likely effect of all human activity is effectively zero — difficult as it may be for liberals to accept that the weather could escape their regulations.

Bob Carter, one of four scientists who has recently questioned the justification for the proposed Australian emissions trading scheme, says that this paper has significant consequences for public climate policy.
"The close relationship between ENSO and global temperature, as described in the paper, leaves little room for any warming driven by human carbon dioxide emissions. The available data indicate that future global temperatures will continue to change primarily in response to ENSO cycling, volcanic activity and solar changes."
"Our paper confirms what many scientists already know: which is that no scientific justification exists for emissions regulation, and that, irrespective of the severity of the cuts proposed, ETS (emission trading scheme) will exert no measurable effect on future climate."

But I'm sure grasping hucksters like Al Gore know much better.

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:06 PM

Nothing could be more American than hot dogs. So naturally, progressives oppose them.

First they told us that hot dogs could make us choke. Bureauweenies called for warning labels, a first step toward a ban.

Then they went after them on the grounds that hot dogs oppress animals. Moonbats tried to end the hallowed tradition of Dodger Dogs at ballgames in Los Angeles.

Next, they shrieked that hot dogs cause cancer. They're still at it:

Hot dogs may be as American as baseball and apple pie, but an anti-meat advocacy group says they're hazardous to your health and should carry warning labels.
The group, called the Cancer Project, wants to force hot dog makers to use warning labels. An offshoot of a pro-vegetarian organization, the Cancer Project filed a lawsuit Wednesday in Superior Court in Newark on behalf of three New Jersey residents.

If this doesn't work, it will soon be revealed that hot dogs are racist.

Obama Sides With Nutty Professor

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:37 AM

The wheels must be coming loose on Comrade Obama's farcical presidency, because out comes the race card.

The police officer who arrested a Harvard professor for disorderly conduct said Thursday he wants President Obama, who is the educator's friend, to butt out of the incident.
Cambridge, Mass., Sgt. James Crowley arrested Henry Louis Gates Jr. in his home last week after he responded to a report of two black men attempting to break in to Gates' home.
It turned out that Gates, head of Harvard's W.E.B. Du Bois Institute for African and African American Research, had broken into his own home after being unable to find his keys upon his return from a trip to China.
Asked about the incident, Obama, who is friends with the professor and documentary filmmaker, told reporters at a Wednesday night press conference that he didn't know all the facts. But he said, "the Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home."

Proof? Like Gates' identification? But when the police asked to see it, Obama's friend started shrieking about racism, which is how he makes his comfy living at Harvard.

Gates also screamed abusive epithets directed at Crowley's mother. Keep in mind that at the time, the cops did not know who he was. You would think he'd be grateful that the police were there to investigate two guys with backpacks breaking into his house, considering that it had been broken into before (per the police report).

Imagine being a cop and having to deal with elitist vermin like Gates, who think that neither laws nor the rules of common courtesy apply to them because they are "oppressed" and therefore higher beings.

From all this, Dear Leader concludes:

Race remains a factor in the society.

I wonder why Chairman Zero would step into this sordid incident just as his Stalinized healthcare debacle is starting to tank. Look for more race-oriented stories to attract his attention as opportunities to distract ours, as the Post Turtle in Chief's panic deepens. Being black got him into this mess, maybe it can get him out…

Page 472 Lines 14-17 PAYMENT TO COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATION. 1 monthly payment to a community-based organization. (Like ACORN?)

There's plenty more. See for yourself: PDF.

This bill would drive unemployment, taxes, and the deficit through the stratosphere. It would turn hospitals into the DMV, dramatically reduce our access to healthcare, let bureaucratic slime decide when it's time for us to die, and guarantee that no one in his right mind goes to medical school. As for the damage this would do to individual liberty — let's just say that any doubts about the Moonbat Messiah being a socialist have been put to rest.

If this nightmare bill isn't Obama's Waterloo, then it's America's.

Daniel Suelo, Hippie Caveman

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:39 AM

Who's the bigger moonbat: a middle-aged hippie who lives in a cave, or the poodles who glorify his mental illness in a glossy magazine? You decide:

Daniel Suelo lives in a cave. Unlike the average American — wallowing in credit-card debt, clinging to a mortgage, terrified of the next downsizing at the office — he isn't worried about the economic crisis. That's because he figured out that the best way to stay solvent is to never be solvent in the first place. Nine years ago, in the autumn of 2000, Suelo decided to stop using money. He just quit it, like a bad drug habit.

Suelo lives by Dumpster diving in nearby Moab, Utah and eating bugs and roadkill. He does not use soap. Among the hardships he endures in the name of moonbattery are mice crawling all over him at night. But he doesn't mind, because "It's their cave too." He has a degree in anthropology from Ward Churchill's University of Colorado.

He tried being a useless bum in Asia; but he came to realize it would be more meaningful to be a useless bum here:

By 1999, he was living in a Buddhist monastery in Thailand — he had saved just enough money for the flight. From there, he made his way to India, where he found himself in good company among the sadhus, the revered ascetics who go penniless for their gods. Numbering as many as 5 million, the sadhus can be found wandering roads and forests across the subcontinent, seeking enlightenment in self-abnegation. "I wanted to be a sadhu," Suelo says. "But what good would it do for me to be a sadhu in India? A true test of faith would be to return to one of the most materialistic, money-worshipping nations on earth and be a sadhu there. To be a vagabond in America, a bum, and make an art of it — the idea enchanted me."

After another 3 1/2 years of Obamanomics, Suelo's lifestyle is likely to catch on.

A moonbat in his cave.

Cass Sunstein: Yet Another Wacky Totalitarian Czar

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:37 AM

What a coincidence — another one of Chairman Zero's "Czars" just happens to be a totalitarian screwball. Cass Sunstein is the Moonbat Messiah's pick for Regulatory Czar. Considering the mountains of extraneous regulations that accrue in the District of Criminals with each passing day, he'll have many opportunities to apply his ideology. Knowledge Is Power introduces us to his point of view.

Sunstain believes in "libertarian paternalism." This phrase means that statists plan to do to the word libertarian what they did to the word liberal. Here's how Buttstain explains it:

The idea of libertarian paternalism might seem to be an oxymoron, but it is both possible and legitimate for private and public institutions to affect behavior while also respecting freedom of choice. Often people's preferences are ill-formed, and their choices will inevitably be influenced by default rules, framing effects, and starting points. In these circumstances, a form of paternalism cannot be avoided. Equipped with an understanding of behavioral findings of bounded rationality and bounded self-control, libertarian paternalists should attempt to steer people's choices in welfare-promoting directions without eliminating freedom of choice. It is also possible to show how a libertarian paternalist might select among the possible options and to assess how much choice to offer.

In other words, our authoritarian masters will be "libertarian" by letting us decide if we want our cot on the left side of the cell or the right side.

Cass gets even wackier:

[R]epresentatives of animals should be able to bring private suits to ensure that anticruelty and related laws are actually enforced. Of course, any animals would be represented by human beings, just like any other litigant who lacks ordinary (human) competence; for example, the interests of children are protected by prosecutors, and also by trustees and guardians in private litigation brought on children's behalf. … If getting rid of the idea that animals are property is helpful in reducing suffering, then we should get rid of the idea that animals are property.

If the government is going to treat citizens like farm animals, why shouldn't animals be treated like citizens? Sorry, hunters!

This sounds especially ominous:

The cruel and abusive practices generally involved in contemporary farming are largely unregulated at the state level.

Now might be a good time to start stockpiling food. Maybe next week's crisis requiring immediate draconian legislation will be animal oppression, solvable only by federal seizure of all farms. Something similar kept Stalin in power for a generation.

Unsurprisingly, Ass doesn't like the Internet:

We hardly need to imagine a world, however, in which people and institutions are being harmed by the rapid spread of damaging falsehoods via the Internet. We live in that world. What might be done to reduce the harm?

Let me guess: Regulate online communication.

Sure enough, Sunstein thinks bloggers should be held punishable for anything any commenter says that can't be proven to be true. FDR killed the Tenth Amendment; this Ivy League cockroach might help Chairman Zero do the same to the First.

What could be more humiliating than this twerp's loafer on our faces?

Comrade Obama Accuses Doctors of Basing All Decisions on Profits

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:54 AM

Chairman Zero may have the moonbats running the AMA behind him, but as for most doctors — I doubt it. Yesterday's coma-inducing attempt to save healthcare Stalinization isn't going to help. Here's Comrade Obama explaining why clueless, power-drunk bureauweenies like himself should be making medical decisions instead of qualified physicians:

So if they're looking and you come in and you've got a bad sore throat or your child has a bad sore throat or has repeated sore throats, the doctor may look at the reimbursement system and say to himself, "You know what? I make a lot more money if I take this kid's tonsils out."
Now, that may be the right thing to do, but I'd rather have that doctor making those decisions just based on whether you really need your kid's tonsils out or whether it might make more sense just to change — maybe they have allergies.

According to the ideology Obama has kept himself immersed in since the regrettable day he was conceived, those who oppose authoritarian collectivism only care about profits and are therefore bad. Maybe Doc will have the kid's leg amputated too, just to have something else to put on the bill.

I'm almost beginning to pity the dupes who voted for this Marxist clown. How they must despise themselves.

Post Turtle Panics at Waterloo

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:32 AM

It looks like the Post Turtle in Chief is already giving way to panic:

A telling episode recounted by Senate Finance ranking member Charles Grassley reveals the Obama administration might be more worried than they are letting on that a Republican senator's comparison of the healthcare overhaul to Waterloo might be dangerously close to the truth. …
"Let's just lay everything on the table," Grassley said. "A Democrat congressman last week told me after a conversation with the president that the president had trouble in the House of Representatives, and it wasn't going to pass if there weren't some changes made … and the president says, 'You're going to destroy my presidency.' "

It's all about his presidency. As far as the long-term havoc his ultra-left agenda will wreak, The Anointed One couldn't care less. Fortunately, this sick farce will soon bog down into nothing more disastrous than Jimmy Carter II, as even Democrats wake up to the magnitude of the mistake that was made last November, and dig in their heels at this punk's attempts to reduce America to a second Soviet Union as a tribute to his absurd ego.

The new presidential theme song.

ObamaCare Would Impose Race Preferences on Medical Schools

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:59 AM

Surprise — Democrats' arrogant bid to Stalinize the healthcare system includes race preferences:

Under the Democrats' health care bill, if a medical school wants to increase its chances of receiving many different kinds of grants and contracts from the federal government, it should have a demonstrated record of training individuals who are from underrepresented minority groups. This is because the Democrats' health care bill requires the Secretary of Health and Human Services to give preference to the entities that have demonstrated such a record in the awarding of these contracts to medical schools and other institutions.
The bill does not state what would qualify as a "demonstrated record", so we can expect medical schools and the other entities to do whatever they think they can get away with to train as many "individuals who are from underrepresented minority groups" as they think they might need to have a better "demonstrated record" in this regard than other entities competing for the grants and contracts. The Democrats' health care bill creates a very significant financial incentive for medical schools and other entities to lower admission standards for "individuals who are from underrepresented minority groups" if that is what it takes to have the winning "demonstrated record".

If you live long enough to get through to a doctor under ObamaCare, you'd better hope it's a white one; that's the only way you'll know the doctor is actually qualified, and wasn't shoved through the system to meet racial quotas.

Affirmative Action worked so well in selecting our current president, why not apply it to the doctors Big Government will select on your behalf?

Soon we'll have "post-racial" medical care.

Toilet Paper Tax

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:30 AM

If liberals want more of something, they use our money to subsidize it — for example, windmills, unions, and poverty. When they want less of something, they tax it. That's why Oregon Rep. Earl Blumenauer's proposed Water Resources Protection Act taxes toilet paper, which as Cheryl Crone informs us, is deemed hurtful to the planet.

The act imposes a "3% excise tax on items disposed of in wastewater, such as toothpaste, cosmetics, toilet paper and cooking oil [because these] products wind up in the water stream."

Water-based beverages are hit with a 4¢ per container tax, because Blumenauer has figured out where the drinks go after you guzzle them: into flush toilets — despised by progressives as symbols of civilization. Here's what our moonbat rulers will soon have us doing with our waste instead:

Benedict Arlen Discovers the Wages of Treacherous Moonbattery

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:00 AM

One of many Democrat casualties of the 2010 bloodbath will be the pathetic turncoat Arlen Specter. He recently betrayed those who voted for him by switching parties while in office. Here's how it's working out for him:

Republican challenger Pat Toomey has moved into a virtual tie with Democratic U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter in a bid for the senator's seat in 2010, according to the Quinnipiac University poll released this morning.
Among voters polled in Pennsylvania, Mr. Specter holds a slight edge, 45 to 44 percent.

This slight edge will turn into a massive rout as information seeps past the MSM gatekeepers, and voters become more aware of what Democrats have been trying to do to this country in the way of grossly unsustainable spending, Tax and Charade wrist-slitting, and healthcare Stalinization. Less than 3 months ago, Specter had a 20 point lead.

Sphincter is likely to hold his 55%-23% advantage over Joe Sestak, his challenger for the dubious honor of the Dem nomination. He'll get on the ballot, but the Senate will finally be rid of him. As for his switching parties: all's well that ends well.

Unconstitutional Honduran Referendum Was Rigged, MSM Silent

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:17 AM

It isn't just our leftist government that has been squarely behind Manuel Zelaya in his bid to reduce Honduras to a communist dictatorship. As you'll recall, the thug serving as president (Zelaya, not Obama) was run out of town on a rail when he declared there would be a national referendum on repealing term limits, so that he could stay in office forever like his role model Hugo Chavez. In addition to being unconstitutional, the referendum was rigged — not that you would ever get that information from our liberal establishment press, which is sympathetic to Zelaya's authoritarian objectives.

Good thing we have Pajamas Media:

Last Friday, July 17, the Honduran newspaper La Tribuna published a story detailing the Honduran government's seizure of 45 government-owned computers found hidden in a building adjacent to the presidential palace formally occupied by the deposed President Manuel "Mel" Zelaya. According to the Honduran authorities these computers contained the results of the referendum Zelaya was fervently trying to push through. When the authorities examined those results, they found that the Honduran people had overwhelmingly voted in favor of having a constitutional convention.
This would open the door and allow Zelaya to change the constitution, removing the one-term limit on presidents strictly stipulated by the document. It is similar to what his friend and mentor, Hugo Chavez, did in Venezuela, and Zelaya figured it would work for him, too.
The only problem with these results was that the plebiscite vote never took place.
On the day Zelaya and his supporters were planning to conduct the referendum, he was arrested in the early morning hours and flown to exile in Costa Rica. The voting results found on those computers were all contrived to indicate a predetermined outcome. Considering the extremely volatile situation in Honduras, the news of this alleged fraud, if found to be true, would change the entire dynamic of this crisis. However, all throughout Friday and later into the weekend, even though various Spanish-language news outlets in Nicaragua, Argentina, and Spain had reported on this very significant development, there was no mention of it at all by the English-speaking mainstream media. … The truth is that this bombshell discovery was very inconvenient to a mainstream media that had already decided to take the side of the deposed Honduran president.

That both our government and our media would put their weight behind a goon like Zelaya in what amounts to an attempted communist coup should chill your blood. America has always stood for liberty, and has sacrificed a great deal of its blood for that cause. But Hopey Change means that for now, the USA is on the side of darkness.

More of Our Money for Abortionists in "Pro-Life" Farce

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:29 AM

It may never be known whether George Orwell predicted modern Democrats, or Democrats used 1984 and Animal Farm as instruction manuals. In either case, Dems have taken the Orwellian practice of calling things the opposite of what they are to the point of self-parody. The latest knee-slapper: a bill shoveling more of our money at the abortion industry is being sold as "pro-life":

A former leader for one of the nation's largest pro-abortion groups and a congressman who abandoned his pro-life views to such a large extent that a pro-life group kicked him off its advisory board are introducing a new bill that will be touted as pro-life legislation.
However, the Reducing the Need for Abortions Initiative, expected to be introduced in the House of Representatives this week, is a bailout for the abortion industry.
Rep. Rosa DeLauro, a Connecticut Democrat who is a former NARAL staffer, and Rep. Tim Ryan, an Ohio Democrat whom Democrats for Life of America recently kicked off its board, are behind the bill.
The legislation is nothing new as Ryan and DeLauro took a Democrats for Life initiative and changed it so much that it sent millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion business.

If liberals didn't know that abortion is evil, they wouldn't hide behind absurdly inaccurate euphemisms like "choice" — as if any child would choose to be murdered by its mother. Maybe there's hope for them, if at least they realize that their objectives are sufficiently abhorrent to require so much subterfuge.

Defense Workers Losing Their Jobs Due to Obama's Pacifist Agenda

There is one thing our moonbat rulers don't like spending money on: our security. North Korea hasn't even nuked us yet, and already we're feeling the effects of Comrade Obama's hostility to missile defense:

Boeing is laying off about 130 employees in Huntsville in response to proposed cuts and changes in the 2010 defense budget.
The layoffs are largely in the Ground-based Midcourse Defense program, according to Tony Jones, Boeing vice president and Huntsville site executive. GMD accounts for about 1,300 of the company's more than 3,200 workers here, he said, and for about 600 jobs with others. …
In a statement, Boeing said layoff notices will be issued to about 250 employees working in GMD at various locations, including Alabama, Alaska, California and Colorado. … The cuts are part of 1,000 jobs Boeing's Integrated Defense Systems said this week it plans to eliminate at various locations because of changes in defense spending.

Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman are also getting hit.

Wild Horses Couldn't Drag Them Away From Their Spending Spree

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:13 AM

Wasting gargantuan sums of money that it will take us generations to repay isn't as easy as it sounds. Our liberal rulers have had to use their imaginations to flush so much away so quickly. The clever wild horse welfare bill will burn up the better part of a $billion:

The bill would provide 700 million dollars for the "Restore Our American Mustangs Act" for a horse census every two years and "enhanced contraception" or birth control for horses.

In typical Orwellian fashion, the mustangs are being "restored" by having their numbers reduced. Mark Stein reports that the bill also calls for government bureaucrats to inspect the homes of anyone willing to adopt a mustang, possibly requiring a new Federal Burro of Investigation. As Stein concludes:

In 1971, the United States Congress recognized mustangs as "living symbols of the historic and pioneer spirit of the West." And surely nothing captures the essence of the "pioneer spirit" than living on welfare in a federal care facility while being showered with government contraceptives. Welcome to America in the gelded age.

The cost of the program is well over $10,000 per horse. But like the exploited workhorse Boxer in Animal Farm, the American taxpayer just keeps trudging obediently forward, while our porcine ruling class arrogantly squanders the wealth created by our labor.

ObamaCare to Provide Free Healthcare for Illegal Aliens

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:24 AM

It should come as no surprise that ObamaCare will mean we taxpayers get to buy free healthcare for millions of illegal aliens:

On Friday, Democrats moved one step closer to giving free health insurance to the nation's estimated 12 million illegal aliens when they successfully defeated a Republican-backed amendment, offered by Rep. Dean Heller, R-Nev., that would have prevented illegal aliens from receiving government-subsidized health care under the proposed plan backed by House Democrats and President Barack Obama.

The actual number of illegals lining up to suck our country dry is probably much higher than 12 million, and will hardly be reduced when we hang out a sign reading FREE MEDICAL CARE. As for the will of the people,

A recent Rasmussen Reports poll found that an overwhelming 80 percent of Americans oppose covering illegals in any public health care bill.

So much for representative government. In case you thought our rulers are the least concerned with what we want:

One of the ironies of the proposed legislation is that it would fine American citizens who opt not to purchase insurance coverage, but would exempt illegals from such fines.

First, the government allows millions of Third-World peasants to illegally colonize our country. Second, it refuses to kick them out. Third, it forces us to buy them all free health care at a cost our economy simply cannot sustain during a recession. Fourth will be the coup de grâce: "immigration reform," aka amnesty, intended to ensure a permanent socialist majority.

But those deals might not last much longer; as an insurance data-analysis firm points out, the insurance industry could be losing big because of this. … Hybrid drivers typically drive farther, get more tickets, and have significantly more expensive insurance claims.

Life insurance companies must be losing out too, considering what death traps these rolling beer cans tend to be.

ATF Discards Second and Tenth Amendments

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:50 AM

As Tennessee and Montana have recently learned, the Second and Tenth Amendments are trumped by the whims of ATF bureauweenies. From an ATF open letter to all Tennessee federal firearms licensees:

The passage of the Tennessee Firearms Freedom Act, H.B. 1796, 106th Leg. (Tenn. 2009) 1796 ("Act"), effective June 19, 2009, has generated questions from industry members as to how this State law may affect them while engaged in a firearms business activity. The Act purports to exempt personal firearms, firearms accessories, and ammunition manufactured in the State, and which remain in the State, from most Federal firearms laws and regulations. However, because the Act conflicts with Federal firearms laws and regulations, Federal law supersedes the Act, and all provisions of the Gun Control Act and the National Firearms Act, and their corresponding regulations, continue to apply.

Montana received a very similar letter:

The passage of the Montana Firearms Freedom Act, Montana House Bill 246 ("Act"), effective October 1, 2009, has generated questions from industry members as to how this State law may affect them while engaged in a firearms business activity.

The Second Amendment to the US Constitution:

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

The Tenth Amendment:

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

The ATF is under the control of the Justice Department, which in turn is run by the pro-terrorist Eric Holder. How would Holder reconcile the letters and amendments above? He doesn't have to, because he regards us as a nation of cowards.

The Downside of Apollo 11

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:12 AM

A lot of airtime has been appropriately devoted to the historic accomplishment of 40 years ago, when Americans became the first to walk on the moon. What could be more symbolic of the greatness of a country that believes in itself and strives to overcome all challenges, rather than wallowing in victim mentality and self-recrimination?

Unfortunately, there was one downside to this giant leap for mankind. As arguably the biggest news story in our planet's history, it drowned out coverage of a degenerate Senator who killed a young girl.

On July 18, 1969, two days before Apollo 11 touched down on the moon, an evidently drunken Ted Kennedy drove his mom's Olds 88 into the drink, leaving young Mary Jo Kopechne inside to drown. Though he had ample opportunity to pull her from the car, and to call emergency services, he did not report the incident until the next day, after he had a chance to talk with his lawyer and friends about how to deal with Mary Jo's inconvenient corpse.

Meanwhile, fishermen had discovered the submerged Oldsmobile. A diver was called, who found the dead girl's body in a spot where an air bubble would have formed. He concluded:

Had I received a call within five to ten minutes of the accident occurring, and was able, as I was the following morning, to be at the victim's side within twenty-five minutes of receiving the call, in such event there is a strong possibility that she would have been alive on removal from the submerged car.

In short, the sleazy Senator was clearly guilty of manslaughter. Given the media attention you would expect from such a sensational case, this should have been enough to end his political career, even in Massachusetts. But possibly due in part to the excitement of Apollo 11, the appalling incident never sufficiently penetrated the public consciousness. The drunken, irresponsible, self-centered killer went on to become what his fellow moonbats sometimes describe as "The Conscience of the Senate."

Will Texas Follow California Down the Drain?

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:22 AM

Even as moonbattery pulls our country under, belief in the traditional American values of liberty and self-reliance have created a business-friendly environment allowing Texas to buck the economic gloom.

The Economist recently did an article comparing the Lone Star State with progressive California. One state has an unemployment rate well above the national average, teeters on the brink of insolvency, and is watching taxpayers escape in droves. The other's unemployment rate is 2.3 points below average; it runs a budget surplus, and is drawing refugees from other states at a rate of 150,000 people a year. This is why a van rental costs about three times as much for a one-way trip from Los Angeles to Houston as the other way around.

What lesson has the Dallas Boring Snooze drawn from this? The obvious: Texas should be more like California:

Texas' demographics are changing, and pretending the low-tax, low-spend model will work forever would be as unwise as the opposite approach, which brought California to its knees. … The policy leaders we send to Austin (and Washington) must carefully thread the needle between maintaining the go-go business climate that drives our overall prosperity (current recession notwithstanding) and more reasonable spending on education and quality-of-life issues, like health care.

In other words, Mexico is colonizing Texas, just like it did to California. Soon the Democrats will be in control, so break out the checkbook, get ready for tax hikes, and start looking around for the next state to escape to.

Iran Continues to Rise Up Against Tyranny

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:45 AM

Just in case the Obamunist media forgets to mention it, the Moonbat Messiah's colleague Mad Mahmoud Ahmadinejad continues to face brave opposition:

Iranian pro-opposition protesters clashed with police Friday on the streets of Tehran in the first major rally since the end of last-month's post-election tensions.
Iranian police detained at least 15 people and used tear gas and batons to disperse opposition supporters outside Tehran University, a witness said. …
The opposition is seeking to show their movement remains vibrant even after the crackdown put down huge anti-government protests that erupted after Iran's disputed June 12 presidential election.
… Hard-liners made traditional chants of death to America, while opposition supporters countered with death to Russia — a reference to [the] government's ties to Moscow.

Meanwhile, Chairman Zero has been over in Russia promising to disarm, and has nothing much to say about the heroes standing up against the unhinged terrorist dictator with whom he wants to meet with no preconditions.

When the time comes, I hope we'll show as much courage.

Bailout Recipients Were Major Donors to Obama

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:21 AM

In light of the $billions of our money Comrade Obama has showered down upon high-living, crony capitalist parasites, this list should come as no surprise. The top contributors to Obama's campaign, via

For once, Goldman Sachs made a good investment. For less than $1,000,000 in campaign cash, it was handed over $20 billion of our money. Citigroup did better still: it has received over $45 billion of our money, for a paltry $700,000 bribe. No wonder it's in a position to pay out such generous bonuses, as is Goldman Sachs.

Of course, there's another price that has to be paid by bailout recipients. They have to allow the Obamunist media to pillory them as examples of the horrors of capitalism. No Fishing at Sea Kitten State Beach

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:20 AM

No matter how bad things get under Comrade Obama, at least we have PETA for comic relief. The latest word in their campaign to have fish renamed "sea kittens" so that we'll feel too guilty to eat them:

PETA sent a letter to California State Parks Director Ruth Coleman on Wednesday offering to pay to keep Pescadero State Beach open, but only if it is renamed Sea Kitten State Beach.
Pescadero State Beach is among the 219 state parks slated for closure under Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's plan to close a $26.3 billion deficit.
The term "sea kitten" is an effort to evoke the same sympathy for fish that people feel for cats and dogs, according to PETA Manager of Campaigns Lindsay Rajt.
"Pescadero means 'the place to fish,' so we thought by renaming it 'Sea Kitten State Beach' we could make it the place for fish instead of fishing," she said. …
Asked if not renaming the beach to include the term "sea kitten" is a deal breaker, Rajt said: "It would be." Although if the state agreed to prohibit fishing at the beach in return for funds, PETA "would perhaps consider it," she said.

Maybe liberals would stop killing their own children if we call them "womb kittens."

Lumps of Cells That Learn and Remember

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:04 AM

Possibly the scariest thing about moonbats is that they are morally capable of killing their own babies. People who can have their own children's skulls crushed and brains sucked out for the sake of convenience aren't going to have a problem doing even worse things to you. To quote Mother Teresa:

I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child — a direct killing of the innocent child — murder by the mother herself. And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? … Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching the people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want.

Of course, an enlightened progressive would regard Mother Teresa as a superstitious savage. The cosmopolitan thinker realizes that it only looks like a baby — actually, it's just a lump of cells up until we say it's a baby. But as we now learn, it's a lump of cells with memories:

The unborn have memories, according to medical researchers who used sound and vibration stimulation, combined with sonography, to reveal that the human fetus displays short-term memory from at least 30 weeks gestation — or about two months before they are born.
"In addition, results indicated that 34-week-old fetuses are able to store information and retrieve it four weeks later," said the research, which was released Wednesday.

It's also been proven that an unborn child can recognize its mother's voice.

The more technology teaches us about the unborn, the more obvious it becomes that those who pretend they aren't human beings are the savages.

Not regarded as human by our liberal rulers.

Dissent Silenced in Congress

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:06 AM

Under a rule written by Thomas Jefferson, bills going through the House of Representatives are to be publicly posted for 3 days before they can be voted on. But like so many other fundamental features of this country, this rule seems unlikely to survive Hopey Change. Well aware that few people would support her radical left agenda if they knew what were in the bills she's been ramming down our throats until after it's too late, Nazi Pelousy has ignored the 3-day rule on the following bills:

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act - The Obama Stimulus
The Children's Health Insurance Program Reauthorization (SCHIP)
The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act
The Omnibus Public Land Management Act of 2009
The Omnibus Appropriations Act of 2009
The AIG Bonus Tax Act
The Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2009
The American Clean Energy and Security Act/National Cap-and-Trade Energy Tax

What are the odds we'll have 3 days to preview ObamaCare before they bring it down on our heads?

Technically, we do not yet have single party rule. But Rep. John Carter (R-TX) explains what happened when Republicans tried to object to the Democrats' heavy-handedness:

Monday night Democrats voted to shut down the U.S. House Representatives rather than allow a handful of Republican Congressmen to speak on the floor. What could have been so offensive or frightening about our discourse that Speaker Pelosi felt she had to protect her party by gagging free speech in the House?
In fact, we had planned to speak on the lack of transparency of the House since Democrats took control. We had planned to criticize Speaker Pelosi for repeatedly denying Members, the media, and the public to right to read legislation before it was voted on. We were set to discuss House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer's statement last week that if his Members were required to read the Democrats' healthcare reform package before it was voted on, it would fail.

The rising tide of left-wing scum that has engulfed the White House and Congress is washing away our constitutional republic. Unless we take back control of the government soon, we will be the last generation of Americans to live like Americans. The cataclysmic election last November was historic, all right.

Succeeding where Hitler and Tojo failed.

ObamaCare Bans Private Insurance

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:41 AM

There's a reason Democrats try to ram their massive bills through quickly before anyone can read them. Look what someone found in the upcoming ObamaCare legislation:

It didn't take long to run into an "uh-oh" moment when reading the House's "health care for all Americans" bill. Right there on Page 16 is a provision making individual private medical insurance illegal.
When we first saw the paragraph Tuesday, just after the 1,018-page document was released, we thought we surely must be misreading it. So we sought help from the House Ways and Means Committee.
It turns out we were right: The provision would indeed outlaw individual private coverage. Under the Orwellian header of "Protecting The Choice To Keep Current Coverage," the "Limitation On New Enrollment" section of the bill clearly states:
"Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day" of the year the legislation becomes law.
So we can all keep our coverage, just as promised — with, of course, exceptions: Those who currently have private individual coverage won't be able to change it. Nor will those who leave a company to work for themselves be free to buy individual plans from private carriers.

Similarly, you can have Christian churches under Islamic law. You just can't repair them or build any new ones.

Government health insurance would eventually destroy free market insurance anyway. What private company could hold out against a competitor that gets to write all the rules, and that doesn't have to be profitable, because it has an endless supply of other people's (and other generations') money? But our socialist rulers are anything but patient.

Social Security Bureauweenies Party Hardy on Your Dime at Posh Resort

As Big Government prepares to replace the world's finest healthcare system with another massive, dysfunctional, unsustainable entitlement, Social Security teeters on the verge of bankruptcy. Whatever happened to the $billions upon $billions that have been stolen from workers and shoveled into this sinkhole since the dark days of FDR? Here's a clue:

PHOENIX — A Social Security Administration motivational management conference held at a high-end Valley resort last week cost $700,000, the SSA told the ABC15 Investigators.
Costs for the conference at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa included airfare, hotel entertainment, dancers, motivational speakers, and food, an administration official said.

The bureauweenies did more than eat, drink, dance, and gamble on your retirement dime:

The SSA provided ABC15 with a list of courses provided at the conference, which included "Techniques to Empower You," "Mentoring the Generations," and "Emotional Intelligence."

Since this is the government, there was also at least one forum devoted to "diversity." Unsurprisingly…

…the information provided by the SSA did not mention an after-hours casino trip, family members staying at the hotel, or the 20-minute dance party ABC15 observed.

Pressed to explain himself,

Social Security Regional Commissioner Peter Spencer told ABC News that staff members needed to learn how to reduce stress because of a growing number of death threats made against them.

Let me guess: all the bureauweenies of color found nooses hanging on their doorknobs.

Think how stressed these parasites will feel when they see us coming with long overdue torches and pitchforks — almost as stressed as people whose retirement funds are in the hands of the government.

Deployment Orders Mysteriously Rescinded

I was skeptical about the claims of Comrade Obama's relatives that he was born in Kenya, which would make him ineligible to carry out his catastrophic farce of a presidency. But it is certainly curious that he will go to any length rather than release his birth certificate.

When Army Reserve major Stefan Frederick Cook refused a deployment to Afghanistan on the grounds that he would not be privy to Geneva Convention protections if he let someone who is not qualified to serve as president send him into combat in a foreign land, instead of the court martial you might expect, Cook had his deployment orders rescinded.

Yet another example of moonbats showing their respect for the military:

As the last strains of "The Star-Spangled Banner" faded before the annual Army-Navy basketball game at West Point, Nick Mottern took off his jacket and revealed his T-shirt. It bore the letter "Q." His seven friends standing alongside him in the next-to-last row of the Holleder Center took off their jackets and shirts, uncovering their T-shirts.
They stood silently, each wearing a shirt emblazoned with lettering that when put together spelled out "U.S. Out of Iraq."

After refusing to cover the shirts, they were escorted out, yelling fifth column slogans as they left. They were banned from West Point for 5 years.

It may be easy and free to host your site on Blogger, but as with most free things, the price is too high. Blogger is owned by Google, which is not above imposing its moonbat ideology — most recently by throwing up roadblocks in front of MassResistance on behalf of the militant homosexual agenda.

Here's what readers have been getting when they go to MassResistance's Blogger-hosted blog:

What's so "objectionable" about MassResistance? It objects to the way the radical homosexual agenda has been rammed down the throats of the people of Massachusetts.

WND gives other examples of Google's lack of evenhandedness:

• Issuing a statement publicly opposing Proposition 8, California voters' attempt to constitutionally define marriage as between one man and one woman
• Restricting Christian advertising on the issue of abortion, until a lawsuit compelled Google to amend its policy
• Rejecting an ad for a book critical of Bill and Hillary Clinton while continuing to accept anti-Bush themes
• Rejecting ads critical of Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., while continuing to run attack ads against former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas
• Allowing the communist Chinese government to have the search engine block "objectionable" search terms such as "democracy"
Ignoring major American patriotic and religious holidays, while honoring Remembrance Day in Australia, Canada, Ireland and the United Kingdom, the Chinese New Year, Valentine's Day, Halloween and other observances.

Wisely, MassResistance is moving its blog to a new host. Blogger sites tend to look cheesy anyway.

Free Money for Minority Broadcasters

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:48 AM

Despite the extreme arrogance of the Dems' blitzkrieg to impose socialism on America, they've backed off on the Fairness Doctrine, because the public is all too aware that it is anything but fair. But there are other ways to skin a cat, such as closing down radio stations in the name of "diversity" because the owners have too light a complexion. Minority owned stations — less likely to air Rush and Sean no matter what the public wants — will have full federal backing. It's starting already:

A group of minority broadcasters asked Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner Monday for financial assistance akin to the aid that has been extended to the financial and auto industries. …
The broadcasters appeal follows a proposal sent in May to Mr. Geithner by a group of influential House members asking for a minority broadcaster support program, bridge funding, or government-backed loans.
The House letter was signed by House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D., S.C.) and a group of key committee chairmen, including Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D., Mass.) Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charles Rangel (D., N.Y.) and Oversight Committee Chairman Edolphus Towns, (D., N.Y.).

We're used to the government stealing our money and using it to play favorites in what was once a free market. But here's the ominous part:

Research from the Internet advocacy group Free Press says minorities own just 7.7% of full power commercial radio stations and 3.2% of full power commercial TV stations.
Minority broadcast ownership also is an issue important to Federal Communications Commission Commissioner Michael Copps, who was acting chairman of the agency earlier this year.

Look for radio stations to be licensed on a racial basis in the future. Equal representation based on race would be as absurd in media ownership as it would be in the NBA. But then, equality won't be good enough, because some animals are more equal than others — namely those who have been "historically underrepresented." It's all part of our new "post-racial politics."

Green Jobs Czar Van Jones Is a Communist and Black Nationalist

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:01 PM

John Holdren — the guy who wanted to put a sterilizing agent in our water supply and is now in charge of federal science policy — is hardly the only dangerous radical to attain "Czar" status in the Obama regime. NewsBusters reports:

The administration's "Green Jobs" czar, Van Jones, has a "very checkered past" deep-rooted in radical politics, including black nationalism, anarchism, and communism. The broadcast network newscasts have mostly failed to report on Mr. Jones's past political affiliations which are lock-step with the network's downplay of coverage regarding President Obama's associations with the former radical and terrorist William Ayers during the election.

Jones is a San Francisco extremist who admits to having been "radicalized in jail." Phil Kerpen of Americans for Prosperity draws the clear parallel between Jones' communist and environmentalist advocacy:

I think it's pretty instructive what his past is… it's the same sort of philosophy, the idea that government ought to be reordering society in accordance with some utopian vision that failed with communism and socialism, and will fail with this green jobs idea.

Jones views environmental activism as a means to advance the ultra-left's Orwellian notion of "justice." He has referred to himself not only as a "communist," but as a "rowdy black nationalist."

What kind of "Czars" did you think would be appointed by someone whose worldview was molded by Frank Marshall Davis, Jeremiah Wright, and Bill Ayers?

Our country is now being run by people who have made a godless religion out of hating everything it stands for. Unsurprisingly, they are destroying it before our eyes.

Another evil kook evades Congressional approval by becoming a "Czar."

An Alternative to Ford

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:40 AM

Of course, there are alternatives to the one truly American car company. From an anonymous email:

Hey everybody, Al Gore was right and we really need to get with the program and support ALL these new enviromental regulations. I realized it was just LAME to have an SUV so I got rid of that ugly "planet killer" and used your tax money to get some new weel's!!
Everybody keeps talking about how rotten the economy is but I'm doing AWSOME!!
I just got my BRAND NEW car that's aproved by Obama, and made by GM (Government Motors) to meet all those cool C.A.F.E. standards that Californias have decided we need to go by. With the new Cap & Trade driving up the cost of gas, electricity and costing more American job's I'm not worried!!
The gas milage is tremendous and the chick's… They dig this eco freinly stuff!!!!

Why to Buy Ford

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:31 AM

Now that the Obamunist blob has engulfed GM and Chrysler, there is only one real American car company. It even has the best commercials:

When FDR was imposing all manner of authoritarian moonbattery to prolong the Great Depression, businesses were strong-armed into displaying the Blue Eagle, which meant they had knuckled under to a long list of exceedingly intrusive government demands regarding operation, production levels, prices, working conditions, et cetera. FDR and his thugocracy did all they could to discourage people from doing business with anyone who failed to climb aboard the Blue Eagle bandwagon.

The symbol was prominently displayed at GM and Chrysler dealerships, but at Ford dealerships, it was nowhere to be seen. Henry Ford derided the Blue Eagle as "Roosevelt's buzzard," and refused to allow bureauweenies to tell him how to run his company.

Today, Ford is the only Big Three company to resist "bailout" nationalization. Maybe there's only been one truly American car company all along.

Todd Curry Follow-up

Remember Todd Curry, the guy who wriggled out of appropriate punishment for shooting 13-year-old Anthony Tucker in the face by pulling out the absurd insanity defense? A little follow-up:

Todd Curry shot and killed his girlfriend's son in Palmyra [Maine] three years ago. He's been at a state psychiatric hospital for the past couple of years. Now he'll be allowed to leave the grounds for supervised visits.
According to testimony given Monday, Curry has made extraordinary progress in the past six months at Riverview Psychiatric Facility compared to his earlier behavior.

Anthony Tucker may still be dead, but the important thing is that his killer feels much better now. Authorities consider the murder excusable because Curry claims he "heard a voice in his head saying he needed to kill someone in the house in order to save the world." Bleats Assistant Attorney General Lisa Marchese:

It's important to remember that when people are committed under an NCR [Not Criminally Responsible] to Riverview that the idea is rehabilitation, and going back into society. So this was an appropriate first step for that.

How any step toward letting a mad dog loose only a couple of years after he murdered a child could be called "appropriate" is something only a liberal could comprehend.

NHS Encourages Teens to Have Sex Twice a Week

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:07 AM

In a single boner, Britain's National Health Service demonstrates why government should have as little as possible to do with both education and healthcare, as well as why the once great nation is circling the drain:

NHS chiefs have been slammed after telling school children: "An orgasm a day keeps the doctor away."
A controversial leaflet — titled Pleasure — has been handed out to parents, teachers and youth workers in a bid to modernise sex education.
It highlights the health benefits of frequent action between the sheets and suggests teens have a "right" to a sex life.
The leaflet says: "Health promotion experts advocate five portions of fruit and veg a day and 30 minutes' physical activity three times a week.
"What about sex or masturbation twice a week?"
The pamphlet was drawn up by NHS Sheffield. Steve Slack, director of its HIV and sexual health clinic, said properly informed teens had as much right to physical relationships as adults.

Private Food Bank Feeds Pennsylvania Bureauweenies

Big Government is so overextended and inept that it can't even write the paychecks for the cushy union jobs that make it run. Fortunately, there are still private food banks to step in to prevent the Zimbabwe-style starvation that would surely otherwise result if bureauweenies have to skip a paycheck:

The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank says it's gearing up services to accommodate state workers who are affected by the budget impasse.
Starting July 20, state workers can call the food bank, 717-564-1700, and alert them about needing a box of food. … State workers will need to bring their state ID badges to pick up their boxes.

Hugs as Healthcare

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:54 AM

There's no way we can pay for ObamaCare; the numbers just don't add up. But who cares? The important thing is to create the impression that our rulers are seizing control of the healthcare industry, inevitably consigning millions to the misery of rationed substandard care, not because they are greedy for still more power but because they are gushing with empathy.

Regina Benjamin, Obama's pick for Surgeon General, fits perfectly with the liberal approach to healthcare. A U.S. Snooze of Last Resort puff piece reports on her practice in rural Alabama:

Back in Bayou La Batre, no one gets turned away at the clinic for being short on cash; patients pay however they can. "We get shrimp, oysters," [Benjamin's 78-year-old staff nurse Nell] Stoddard says. "Mostly just love." The doctor and her staff reciprocate, dispensing hugs as an essential ingredient of high-quality healthcare.

If only a sensation of gooey warmth could make cancer go away — or balance budgets.

Nationalized Healthcare Uncovers "Racists"

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:01 AM

In case you're not overloaded with reasons to oppose socialized medicine, here's one more: When government controls healthcare, you could be branded as a "racist" for wanting a doctor who speaks the native language. From progressive Sweden:

A woman has reported a hospital in western Sweden to national authorities after discovering she and her husband had been described as racists in their son's medical records. …
Three years ago, when the son was five months old, the woman rushed the boy to the hospital in an ambulance. At the hospital, they encountered a foreign doctor whom the woman was unable to understand. She asked to see a Swedish-speaking doctor, and her request was granted.
When she recently requested her son's medical journal, she read that she and her husband had were described as racists in the notations.

CNN African Interview Deviates From Script

Obama Nominee Sees Nothing Wrong With Taliban Oppression

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:15 AM

The Taliban created a hell on earth in Afghanistan, a hell that reached across the world to strike America on 9/11. It was a world without freedom, in which political opponents were butchered and women were treated worse than dogs. Yet Glyn Davies, whom Comrade Obama has appointed as US envoy to the International Atomic Energy Agency, could find "nothing objectionable" about it. A report from November, 2001 gives a hint as to his attitude toward Islamic extremists:

The day after the Taliban seized Kabul in September 1996, the State Department spokesman, Glyn Davies, encountered tough questions from American reporters.
Victorious in a brutal fight against rival factions, the Taliban claimed power after castrating and killing former President Najibullah and hanging the corpses of him and his brother from a post at the entrance to the presidential palace.
Mr. Davies reported the events matter-of-factly and told reporters the United States saw "nothing objectionable" about the Taliban imposing its strict interpretation of Islamic law.

In his new position, Davies will be responsible for making sure that nuclear weapons don't fall into the hands of the sort of people he can't find anything objectionable about.

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:54 AM

Prince Chucklehead has again demonstrated the link between inbreeding and mental retardation by proclaiming that we have only 96 months to save the world by plunging the West into economic ruin in the name of the polar bears.

Capitalism and consumerism have brought the world to the brink of economic and environmental collapse, the Prince of Wales has warned in a grandstand speech which set out his concerns for the future of the planet.
The heir to the throne told an audience of industrialists and environmentalists at St James's Palace last night that he had calculated that we have just 96 months left to save the world.
And in a searing indictment on capitalist society, Charles said we can no longer afford consumerism and that the "age of convenience" was over.

John Holdren, the deranged totalitarian in charge of national science policy, isn't the only moonbat who dreams of subverting American sovereignty in favor of a "planetary regime." Al Gore also sees eco-fanaticism as a means to impose "global governance":

"I bring you good news from the U.S., "Gore said on July 7, 2009 in Oxford at the Smith School World Forum on Enterprise and the Environment, sponsored by UK Times.
"Just two weeks ago, the House of Representatives passed the Waxman-Markey climate bill," Gore said, noting it was "very much a step in the right direction." President Obama has pushed for the passage of the bill in the Senate and attended a G8 summit this week where he agreed to attempt to keep the Earth's temperatures from rising more than 2 degrees C.
Gore touted the Congressional climate bill, claiming it "will dramatically increase the prospects for success" in combating what he sees as the "crisis" of man-made global warming.
"But it is the awareness itself that will drive the change and one of the ways it will drive the change is through global governance…"

Obama's Science Czar John Holdren Considered Putting Sterilants in Our Drinking Water

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:29 PM

To undermine the balance of powers that guards against tyranny, Comrade Obama has been appointing "Czars" who do not have to answer to Congress. To get an idea of the brand of apparatchik that gets appointed Czar by our Community Activist in Chief, let's review the opinions of the new Science Czar, John Holdren. Below are a few quotations from Ecoscience, which he coauthored with Paul and Anne Ehrlich, via Zombietime:

On forced abortions:

Indeed, it has been concluded that compulsory population-control laws, even including laws requiring compulsory abortion, could be sustained under the existing Constitution if the population crisis became sufficiently severe to endanger the society.

On government confiscation of babies:

One way to carry out this disapproval might be to insist that all illegitimate babies be put up for adoption — especially those born to minors, who generally are not capable of caring properly for a child alone. … It would even be possible to require pregnant single women to marry or have abortions, perhaps as an alternative to placement for adoption, depending on the society.

On targeted involuntary sterilization:

The development of a long-term sterilizing capsule that could be implanted under the skin and removed when pregnancy is desired opens additional possibilities for coercive fertility control. The capsule could be implanted at puberty and might be removable, with official permission, for a limited number of births.

On mass involuntary sterilization:

Adding a sterilant to drinking water or staple foods is a suggestion that seems to horrify people more than most proposals for involuntary fertility control. Indeed, this would pose some very difficult political, legal, and social questions, to say nothing of the technical problems. No such sterilant exists today, nor does one appear to be under development. To be acceptable, such a substance would have to meet some rather stiff requirements: it must be uniformly effective, despite widely varying doses received by individuals, and despite varying degrees of fertility and sensitivity among individuals; it must be free of dangerous or unpleasant side effects; and it must have no effect on members of the opposite sex, children, old people, pets, or livestock.

We wouldn't want livestock to be affected while we're snuffing out the human race. What would PETA say?

On government dictating family size:

In today's world, however, the number of children in a family is a matter of profound public concern. The law regulates other highly personal matters. For example, no one may lawfully have more than one spouse at a time. Why should the law not be able to prevent a person from having more than two children?

Don't want to kill your baby? Then you're a racist:

Another related issue that seems to encourage a pronatalist attitude in many people is the question of the differential reproduction of social or ethnic groups. Many people seem to be possessed by fear that their group may be outbred by other groups. … Obviously, if everyone tries to outbreed everyone else, the result will be catastrophe for all.

On the ultimate liberal dream — a planetary totalitarian state:

Perhaps those agencies, combined with UNEP and the United Nations population agencies, might eventually be developed into a Planetary Regime — sort of an international superagency for population, resources, and environment. Such a comprehensive Planetary Regime could control the development, administration, conservation, and distribution of all natural resources, renewable or nonrenewable…
The Planetary Regime might be given responsibility for determining the optimum population for the world and for each region and for arbitrating various countries' shares within their regional limits.

On surrendering national sovereignty to the international Gestapo:

If this could be accomplished, security might be provided by an armed international organization, a global analogue of a police force. Many people have recognized this as a goal, but the way to reach it remains obscure in a world where factionalism seems, if anything, to be increasing. The first step necessarily involves partial surrender of sovereignty to an international organization.

Other progressives brought hell to earth in Germany, Russia, and China. But radical environmentalism has laid the groundwork for nightmarish extremes of totalitarianism undreamt of by Hitler, Stalin, or Mao.

Satanic freaks like Holdren are now running the USA. It would be impossible to overstate the danger we face.

No one would call John Holdren a "pronatalist."

Sestak has said that he will challenge Specter, who has the backing of President Obama and party leaders, for the Democratic Senate nomination next year. Specter, a longtime Republican, switched his party registration to Democrat this year.

The reason Sphincter did so was that he knew his treasonous and contemptible support for the Moonbat Messiah's Porkulus outrage made it unlikely he would win the Republican nomination, whereas Sestak changed his affiliation from Independent before he first ran for Congress, which is hardly the same thing as going over to the enemy when you're already a Senator.

By allowing government to metastasize wildly during flush economic times, states have set themselves up for an unavoidable crash, now that the economy is slowing down. ABC News lists the 10 in biggest trouble, along with their budget gaps as a percentage of their overall budgets:

California: $53.7 billion shortfall or 58 percent of its budget
Arizona: $4 billion shortfall or 41 percent of its budget
Nevada: $1.2 billion or 38 percent of its budget
Illinois: $9.2 billion or 33 percent of its budget
New York: $17.9 billion or 32 percent of its budget
Alaska: $1.35 billion shortfall or 30 percent of its budget
New Jersey: $8.8 billion or 30 percent of its budget
Oregon: $4.2 billion or 29 percent of its budget
Vermont: $278 million or 25 percent of its budget
Washington: $3.6 billion or 23 percent of its budget
Connecticut: $4.1 billion or 23 percent of its budget

You'll notice that almost all are blue states.

One exception is Arizona, which is suffering severely as an inevitable consequence of the profligate spending spree by former Democrat governor Janet "Crappy Nappy" Napolitano, aka "Uncle Mort." Fittingly, Uncle Mort now works in the District of Criminals, serving an administration that is doing the same thing to the country that she did to her state.

Don't fret, bankrupt states. The feds will bail you out. Then when the federal government follows California et al. into insolvency, the entire economy will collapse, and we won't have to worry anymore, because the government will step in and take care of everything, just like in the Soviet Union.

Arizona owes it all to Uncle Mort.

Put Nothing in Writing, Ever

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:58 AM

Obama's ultra-radical Climate Czarina — who makes money on carbon offsets, and who didn't bother to read the Tax and Charade monstrosity — sums up his administration's conception of "transparency":

Carol Browner, former Clinton administration EPA head and current Obama White House climate czar, instructed auto industry execs "to put nothing in writing, ever" regarding secret negotiations she orchestrated regarding a deal to increase federal Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards.
Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-WI, is demanding a congressional investigation of Browner's conduct in the CAFE talks, saying in a letter to Rep. Henry Waxman, D-CA, that Browner "intended to leave little or no documentation of the deliberations that lead to stringent new CAFE standards."
Federal law requires officials to preserve documents concerning significant policy decisions, so instructing participants in a policy negotiation concerning a major federal policy change could be viewed as a criminal act.

The Marxists who control the government are perfectly aware that the vast majority of Americans would oppose what they are doing to this country, were people to know the gory details. They also know that history will not judge them favorably if they are successful in their objective: to snuff out mankind's last best hope.

Patriots Put the Kibosh on Spectacle

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:44 AM

The silent majority needs to speak up if it doesn't want to get steamrolled by the radical left, which is now running the government. Fortunately, the Tea Party movement marks a whole new mindset among patriots. Here's an encouraging report:

On July 9, 2009 sent their orgs to the Federal Bldg in downtown Raleigh, NC to hold a rally in support of Socialized Healthcare. The Federal Building site was chosen because it is the location of Senator Hagan's Raleigh office.
The goal was to give speeches, wave a few signs, chant a few chants, garner media attention and convince Kay Hagan that represents the people of North Carolina.
They Failed.
Their speakers had to yell at the top of their lungs to be heard — their voices were drowned out by patriots. Bystanders and passer-bys had to stand on tip-toes to see their signs — they were surrounded by the signs of patriots. There were no MoveOn chants — if Kay Hagan was watching, she heard only the chants of the Tea Party: "One Term Hagan, One Term Hagan, One Term Hagan."

Tea Partiers outnumbered the Marxists 3 to 1. There was no way Big Media could spin this to advance its socialist agenda, so there was no coverage. MoveOn's little spectacle bombed; the moonbats had to crawl away through the throngs of patriots with their tails between their legs.

Another Chance for Chairman Zero to Get It Right on Iran

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:21 PM

Iran is boiling over again:

Thousands of protesters streamed down avenues of the Iranian capital Thursday, chanting "death to the dictator" and defying security forces who fired tear gas and charged with batons, witnesses said.
Iranian authorities had promised tough action to prevent the marches, which supporters of opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi have been planning for days in Internet messages. Heavy police forces deployed at key points in the city ahead of the marches, and Tehran's governor vowed to smash anyone who heeded the demonstration calls.
In some places, police struck hard. Security forces chased after protesters, beating them with clubs on Valiasr Street, Tehran's biggest north-south avenue, witnesses said.

As his prompt and unconditional support for the attempted communist takeover in Honduras proves, our Dear Leader is no longer opposed to "meddling" by taking sides. Let's see how long it takes him this time to figure out whose side he's supposed to be on.

Obamanomics Employment Opportunities

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:37 AM

I was skeptical when our leftist rulers promised to create jobs by imposing suffocating regulations on businesses and flushing $trillions of dollars down welfare programs, crony capitalism bailouts, industry nationalization, and ludicrous pork projects. But it turns out that Obamanomics has produced some job opportunities after all.

Following a link from the Recovery Act Opportunities page at, we find that the Porkulus Package has produced a staggering 63 job openings.

Why, that's probably a whole government job for every 100,000 jobs that will be destroyed as the taxes Obama's spree will necessitate force businesses to shrivel up and die. Thanks, Big Government!

Rule by moonbats has produced even more job opportunities for those with politically favored skin tones. In New York:

During the first five months of this year, with the Senate under the control of its first African-American majority leader, Smith, top Democrats bemoaned the lack of minority Senate staffers.
But instead of trying to recruit new hires, they fired nearly 200 almost exclusively white workers and replaced them with a large number of minority employees, many of whom were seen by their fellow workers to be unskilled at their new jobs.
The move produced severe racial tensions, made worse by the fact that, as a high-level Democratic staffer confided, "We've been told to only hire minorities.''

Maybe our rulers are testing us, to see just what it would take to make us rebel.

Comrade Obama's approval index now stands at -8:

That's a drop of 38 points since January 22. When Strongly Disapprove hits 100%, he will have united America as promised.

As the hype wears off, people are starting to figure out that his sacred skin tone doesn't obligate them to approve of an arrogant punk who is systematically destroying our country.

Imagine what the approval index will be if he actually gets his Tax and Charade bill through the Senate, and it produces the intended effects of launching energy costs and unemployment through the stratosphere.

Greenpeace Moonbats Defile Mount Rushmore

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:29 AM

You would have thought moonbats had already defaced the nation sufficiently by putting an arrogant, Marxist community activist in the White House. But no:

Greenpeace activists were arrested Wednesday for scaling Mount Rushmore and hanging a banner next to the carved face of Abraham Lincoln urging President Barack Obama to get tough on climate change. …
"Doing what it takes to solve global warming demands real political courage," Greenpeace USA deputy campaigns director Carroll Muffett said in a statement.

Little Miss Muffett needn't worry — Comrade Obama has been eager to use the global warming hoax as a pretext to cripple the economy, putting millions more in a state of government dependency. With Big Media behind him, it will hardly take courage. No doubt she knows that; the spectacle was intended to create the impression that "the people" want Chairman Zero to consign us to economic ruin on behalf of the polar bears.

Patriotic Family Attacked for Being White in Non-Hate Crime

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:01 AM

As part of its blitzkrieg to impose the entire radical left agenda before people figure out what the media has tricked them into voting for, the Obamination regime has been pushing more "hate crime" legislation. Needless to say, this doesn't count as a hate crime:

Akron police say they aren't ready to call it a hate crime …
But to Marty Marshall, his wife and two kids, it seems pretty clear.
It came after a family night of celebrating America and freedom with a fireworks show at Firestone Stadium. Marshall, his family and two friends were gathered outside a friend's home in South Akron.
Out of nowhere, the six were attacked by dozens of teenage boys, who shouted ''This is our world'' and ''This is a black world'' as they confronted Marshall and his family.
The Marshalls, who are white, say the crowd of teens who attacked them and two friends June 27 on Girard Street numbered close to 50. The teens were all black.

Marshall spent five nights in the critical care unit with a concussion and multiple bruises to his head and eye. The construction worker is now on the line for $thousands in medical bills.

Good thing he didn't inflict any damage in return. Then he would have the added expense of defending himself from hate crime charges. As it is, "the case is not being classified as a racial hate crime."

Woman Marries Dog

Wondering what's next after homosexual marriage? The answer:

A Ghanaian woman has married her dog because it has qualities she had seen only in her late father.
Emily Mabou, 29, of Aburi, married the 18-month-old dog in a ceremony attended by a traditional priest and local, curious villagers, reports the Daily Dose. …
In the ceremony, the priest warned villagers not to mock the wedding, but to "rejoice with her as she has found happiness at last".
Asked how she intends to raise children with her new husband, Ms Mabou said simply: "We will adopt."

That's how gays do it.

Al Gore invoked the spirit of Winston Churchill yesterday when he urged political leaders to follow the example of Britain's wartime leader in the battle against climate change.
The former US Vice-President accused governments around the world of exploiting ignorance about the dangers of global warming to avoid taking difficult decisions.
Speaking in Oxford at the Smith School World Forum on Enterprise and the Environment, sponsored by The Times, Mr Gore said: "Winston Churchill aroused this nation in heroic fashion to save civilisation in World War Two. Sinking, Sinking…

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:43 AM

Of all the lame reasons for supporting the absurd candidacy of Barack Hussein Obama for President, possibly the most preposterous was that this underqualified, ultra-left extremist would "unite us." Unsurprisingly, he has done the opposite.

According to Rasmussen, 37% strongly disapprove of the Moonbat Messiah, despite the relentless media campaign on his behalf, and the psychological ju-jitsu by which our rulers have subconsciously convinced many of us that we are "racists" if we oppose him. Strongly approve gets 32% and crumbling, leaving only 31% who haven't yet been politically polarized after a mere 6 months.

The hard left may have overplayed its hand by installing an actual communist in the White House. His demented policies could succeed at destroying America and replacing it with a half-starved socialist slave state. But if they don't, the backlash should rid us of moonbattery for generations. Resolved, That the House of Representatives
(1) recognizes Michael Jackson as a global humanitarian and a noted leader in the fight against worldwide hunger and medical crises; and
(2) celebrates Michael Jackson as an accomplished contributor to the worlds of arts and entertainment, scientific advances in the treatment of HIV/AIDS, and global food security.

Presumably the bill does not include anything about his contribution to advancing the spread of HIV/AIDS to children, by doing more to normalize pederasty than NAMBLA could in a century.

Applied Obamunism in Shreveport

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:57 AM

You don't have to go to Detroit for a preview of America's statist Third World future. Shreveport, Louisiana offers a glimpse:

Just ask Shreveport resident Robert Baillio, who got pulled over for having two pro-gun bumper stickers on the back of his truck — and had his gun confiscated.
While the officer who pulled him over says Baillio failed to use his turn signal, the only questions he had for Baillio concerned guns: Whether he had a gun, where the gun was, and if he was a member of the NRA. No requests for a driver's license, proof of insurance, or vehicle registration — and no discussion of a turn signal.
Accordingly, Baillio told the officer the truth, which led the police officer to search his car without permission and confiscate his gun.
However, not only does Louisiana law allow residents to drive with loaded weapons in their vehicles, but Mr. Baillio possessed a concealed carry license!
What does such behavior demonstrate, other than transparent political profiling — going so far as to use the infamous Department of Homeland Security report on "Americans of a rightwing persuasion" as a how-to guidebook, no less?
Mr. Baillio made no secret of his political affiliations: An American flag centers a wide flourish of pro-freedom stickers and decals on his back windshield.
In fact, when Baillio asked the officer if everyone he pulls over gets the same treatment, the officer said no and pointed to the back of his truck.
Baillio phoned Mayor Glover to complain about this "suspension of rights" only to find that his city's morbidly obese "commander in chief" was elated at the story: According to Glover, Baillio got "served well, protected well, and even got a consideration that maybe [he] should not have gotten."

At this rate we'll soon look back nostalgically at the days when guys like Baillio only had their guns confiscated, instead of disappearing into reeducation camps.

Yet creepier still is the paroxysm of worship he has inspired, now that his degenerate lifestyle has resulted in his death:

Banana Coffins

For anyone who doubts that the environmental movement is completely bananas:

Casket makers catering to natural burials have offered biodegradable coffins made of such materials as recycled newspapers or cardboard. Ecoffins USA, based in Montrose, Colo., is selling caskets made of banana sheaves.
They take six months to two years to biodegrade.
Marketing director Joanna Passarelli says the company sold $40,000 worth of banana-sheaf or bamboo coffins to funeral homes last year. …
Passarelli contends the bamboo and banana coffins, made in Asia, are better for the environment than the cremation process.
Her interest in ecofriendly coffins grew after her son's school showed the movie "An Inconvenient Truth" in which Al Gore warns of climate change. Her son came home wondering why he should bother with homework if the world would be destroyed.
"I said if everybody did one little thing it would have a snowball effect," she said.

Here we have the environmental craze in a nutshell: morbid, delusional, smugly self-righteous, and extravagantly wacky. I wonder if the Chicoms snicker while they build us our banana sheaf ecoffins.

Moonbats Respond to Tea Parties

Hundreds of thousands honored the essence of Independence Day Saturday by taking a stand against government tyranny at more than 2,000 Tea Parties. But not everyone was moved by this timely surge of American spirit. Here's how Google reported the events:

Maybe they meant "marked" instead of "marred," but made a Freudian typo. The referenced video doesn't use the word "mar":

Apparently getting some heat, Google changed the headline to a much more appropriate "Tea Party protests rock America on July 4th." We'll see if Dear Leader goes back and changes his policy toward the Tea Parties:

A classified memo written by the President, in which he instructs Press Secretary Robert Gibbs on how to address questions concerning so called Tea Parties, has been leaked to the public.
The document, dated April 13, details President Obama's instructions on how Gibbs should respond to questions asked by reporters. In it, the President tells Gibbs to downplay the importance of "social events that are aimed at undermining [the President's] plan to fix the economy."
President Obama also instructs Gibbs to "not answer any questions regarding these gatherings directly," writing that they are "idiotic" in their aims to curb government spending.

Obama Paper Proposes "Social Justice" as Alternative to Military Security

A relic of Comrade Obama's college days missed the memory hole. In a treatise entitled "Breaking the War Mentality," he seems to propose nuclear disarmament through social justice. If I can make any sense of his pretentious poppycock, his strategy is: if you confiscate Whitey's money and flush it down welfare programs, he won't have any left to defend the country from communists. A lowlight, via The Corner:

Generally, the narrow focus of the [Nuclear] Freeze movement as well as academic discussions of first versus second strike capabilities, suit the military-industrial interests, as they continue adding to their billion dollar erector sets. When Peter Tosh sings that "everybody's asking for peace, but nobody's asking for justice," one is forced to wonder whether disarmament or arms control issues, severed from economic and political issues, might be another instance of focusing on the symptoms of a problem instead of the disease itself.

Reconquistadors Celebrate "Farce of July"

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:39 PM

While patriots honored Independence Day with Tea Parties Saturday, militant moonbats celebrated the Farce of July:

This annual all-day concert and street fair is held on Cesar Chavez Avenue in East Los Angeles— the heart of the barrio.
The event is sponsored by the Aztlan Underground to uphold the claim that the Southwest portion of the United States had been stolen from Mexicans and Mexican Americans by Yankee colonialists under the leadership of U.S. President James K. Polk.
Members of the Aztlan Movement and La Raza (of which Supreme Council nominee Sotomayor is a national director) seek to annex California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and southern Colorado into a new nation: Republica del Norte, "the Republic of the North."
Sounds like a far-fetched idea save for the fact that the 56% of Mexicans and Mexican Americans, according to a Zogby poll, favor the reconquista.
The creation of a "Hispanic Homeland," Charles Truxillo, professor, University of New Mexico, maintains, is "an inevitability" that should be brought into being "by any means necessary."
But the "reconquista" won't end with territorial occupation and secession. The final plan for the La Raza movement includes the ethnic cleansing of Americans of European, African, and Asian descent out of "Aztlan."

Immigrants used to assimilate into the melting pot. But now we have multiculturalism.

Democrats had best be careful; if their plans to help Mexico colonize the Southwest work too well, it might split off from the USA, costing them millions of votes and defeating the whole purpose. But of course, that would make the Reconquistadors ineligible for food stamps, so it isn't likely to happen.

Alcee Hastings Paves the Way for Concentration Camps

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:18 AM

Nancy Pelosi was unable to install disgraced former judge Alcee Hastings — who was impeached for bribery and perjury, and then hit a further low by cochairing Shrillary's presidential campaign — as Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee. But that doesn't mean this felonious Congresscritter (D-FL) hasn't been busily participating in the destruction of our country.

An amendment to a bill swiftly moving through the US Congress will allow the Obama Administration's Attorney General to classify Americans as domestic terrorists if they are pro-life, pro-gun and anti-big government.
Impeached Florida judge — now a Democrat Party member of the House of Representatives — Rep. Alcee Hastings introduced what some claim is a disturbing piece of legislation. Hasting's amendment calls for the Attorney General to have discretion over who is called a terrorist and what groups will be treated as terrorist groups.

Imagine the irony of patriots being denounced as terrorists by the scuttling cockroach Holder, the best friend of any real terrorist.

"This is arguably one of the worst pieces of legislation to come down the pike in a long, long time. In essence Attorney General Eric Holder — a Bill Clinton retread — will have the discretion to label Americans terrorists. Hastings is a dangerous man and should be forced to resign from congress. He's also proposed the creation of "emergency camps" that are nothing more than prisons," warns political strategist Mike Baker.
"This amendment is part and parcel of the trend in this country to suppress dissent by patriots by calling them domestic terrorists," he added.

The trend was given a major boost by Comrade Obama's preposterous choice for head of Homeland Security:

In an unclassified report entitled "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment," Secretary for Homeland Security Janet Napolitano and her agency included the following description of "extremists:"
"Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration."

If "terrorists" are defined as those who believe in states rights, border defense, the Second Amendment, and/or the sanctity of human life, the government will need new facilities to house them all. Hastings is on top of it:

Rep. Alcee Hastings also introduced what many say is another disturbing piece of legislation. That new bill calls for the Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano to build at least six facilities that can be designated as "emergency centers. Hastings' rationale for such facilities is to gather and "house" civilians on what are basically detention centers guarded by armed soldiers or paramilitary troops.
The House bill (HR 645) — National Emergency Centers Establishment Act — is not even on the radar of members of the elite media. According to critics of the plan, if passed the government will create camps or centers that by their nature restrict the activities of US citizens herded into them.

In the near future, voicing opposition to the radical left agenda being rammed down our country's throat could land you in a concentration camp. Now's a good time to start resisting what liberals are doing to this country, because it won't be getting any easier.

Independence Day Tea Party Gala Extravaganza

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:23 AM

Interest in politics bottoms out this time of year. People are in vacation mode, and elections are far away. Despite this and the scorching heat in some parts of the country, the Independence Day Tea Parties were a great success. Hundreds of thousands turned out at over 2,000 rallies in all 50 states. Even some mainstream media outlets have been forced to admit that the movement is significant and growing.

If the power-mad statists infesting Washington do succeed at destroying America and replacing it with a wretched, half-starved socialist slave state, it won't be without resistance.

Our Greater New Orleans Tea Party went to Baton Rouge to participate in their Independence Day event at the state capitol. It was 99 in the shade, but a good crowd of 1,000–1,500 showed up. Among the speakers was Gisela Chavalier, a naturalized American citizen, native to Cuba. She told her story — of growing up as Cuba moved from democracy to socialism to communism — and warned about the signs she sees here of the same path. Very moving — and downright scary. …
There were LOTS of young families there, kids running all over the capitol lawn and rolling down grassy hills, and at least one dog — ours — who weighed in on the healthcare issue.

Some Animals Are Less Equal Than Others

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:34 AM

Under Hopey Change, some animals are less equal than others — namely Christians and Caucasians.

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder says a homosexual activist who is attacked following a Christian minister's sermon about homosexuality would be protected by a proposed new federal law, but a minister attacked by a homosexual wouldn't be.

Gabbles Holder, a pro-terrorist lowlife who regards America as "a nation of cowards":

Well, the statute would not — would not necessarily cover that. We're talking about crimes that have a historic basis. Groups who have been targeted for violence as a result of the color of their skin, their sexual orientation, that is what this statute tends — is designed to cover. We don't have the indication that the attack was motivated by a person's desire to strike at somebody who was in one of these protected groups. That would not be covered by the statute.

Black on white violence is 7.5 times higher than white on black violence. But that's in the real world, so it has no bearing on the bizarre laws imposed by the kakistocracy to punish us for being normal Americans.

Equal protection under the law went out of style. It has been discarded in favor of moonbattery.

We're less equal because we're not oppressed like our rulers.

Under Obama Regime, America Now Backs Tyranny Against Liberty

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:55 AM

Possibly the most shameful and heartbreaking aspect of the Obama presidency is that until it is finally over, America — which has sacrificed so much blood around the world in defense of liberty — is now on the side of tyranny.

When Hugo Chavez wannabe Manuel Zelaya tried to set himself up as a socialist dictator in Honduras, he was thankfully slapped back into place by Hondurans who want to continue to live in a democracy. Shockingly, the same Comrade Obama who didn't want to get involved by speaking out against Ahmadinejad's thugs shooting women in the streets of Iran came out promptly and strongly on the side of Zelaya. The liberal media that installed Obama in office has unsurprisingly followed suit, by ignoring the story or by mischaracterizing it as a military coup, despite the legislative and judiciary branches acting in unanimous opposition to Zelaya's unconstitutional attempt to do away with term limits.

Hondurans don't appreciate it. Via Flopping Aces:

Comrade Obama's Birth Certificate for Sale on eBay

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:19 AM

We may finally have a chance to see Chairman Zero's birth certificate:

A seller claiming to have a certified copy of Barack Obama's birth certificate issued in a Mombasa, Kenya, hospital in 1961 is back up on eBay telling her story. Six previous times the posts have been removed. …
The seller claims in the latest post on eBay that the birth certificate contains the name of Obama's mother and father, the name of the physician present, along with a signature, and that it is "an exact copy of the original 1961 Mombasa hospital birth certificate. Includes 2009 embossed seal of the hospital in Mombasa. Contains a 2009 signature from staff that issued this copy with embossed seal."
It also allegedly includes a "right footprint." …
The seller explained previously that Kenyans had boasted Barack Obama II was born in the Coast Provincial Hospital in Mombasa at 7:24 p.m. Aug. 4, 1961, which correlates to speculation that has existed over the president's birthplace since prior to his election. …
Complicating the situation is Obama's decision to spend sums estimated in the hundreds of thousands of dollars to avoid releasing a state birth certificate that would put to rest all of the questions.

Having been born in Kenya as many believe would make Obama ineligible to be president. But then, being a Marxist with no serious qualifications for the office ought to make him ineligible too.

If a copy of BHO's birth certificate fetches a good price, it could start a whole new industry:

WND has reported that … the documentation not yet available for Obama includes his kindergarten records, his Punahou school records, his Occidental College records, his Columbia University records, his Columbia thesis, his Harvard Law School records, his Harvard Law Review articles, his scholarly articles from the University of Chicago, his passport, his medical records, his files from his years as an Illinois state senator, his Illinois State Bar Association records, any baptism records, and his adoption records.

Chairman Zero's term for keeping all these records from the public is "transparency."

Disney Accused of Promoting Heteronormativity

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:07 AM

Disney is in for it now. It's been accused by academics of failing to promote sexual perversion in its movies for children:

Researchers at the University of Michigan have concluded that the love stories told in classic Disney and other G-rated children's films — such as the Little Mermaid — are partially to blame for the pervasiveness of what they label "heteronormativity."
"Despite the assumption that children's media are free of sexual content, our analyses suggest that these media depict a rich and pervasive heterosexual landscape," wrote researchers Emily Kazyak and Karin Martin, in a report published in the latest issue of the Sociologists for Women in Society (SWS) publication Gender & Society.
Kazyak and Martin said they studied the role of heterosexual relationships in several of the highest-grossing G-rated films between 1990-2005.
The results, say the researchers, illustrate two ways that the children's films "construct heterosexuality": through "depictions of hetero-romantic love as exceptional, powerful, transformative, and magical," and "depictions of interactions between gendered bodies in which the sexiness of feminine characters is subjected to the gaze of masculine characters."
"Characters in love are surrounded by music, flowers, candles, magic, fire, balloons, fancy dresses, dim lights, dancing and elaborate dinners," the researchers observed. "Fireflies, butterflies, sunsets, wind and the beauty and power of nature often provide the setting for — and a link to the naturalness of — hetero-romantic love."

Conclude the scholars:

These films provide powerful portraits of a multifaceted and pervasive heterosexuality that likely facilitates the reproduction of heteronormativity.

Just when you thought that Hopey Change put any sort of normativity behind us forever. Apparently the solution is to ply children with homoerotic propaganda.

By the way, University of Michigan is a state-funded school. Taxpayers are forced to finance the corrosive depravity that passes for research.

An academic, seen at top right, is enraged by Disney's heteronormativity.

Go Galt: Call in Conservative

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:35 AM

Tea Party Nation is calling on conservatives to go Galt on July 30:

On July 30th, Conservatives are "Going Galt". On that date, we are asking Conservatives all across the nation to "Call in Conservative". On July 30th, Conservatives will not work, we will not buy. Instead, we will spend time with our families and friends. We will show President Obama and Congress who REALLY drives this economy. For more information on "A Day Without Conservatives , contact Judson Phillips at

Anthony Martin loves the idea:

This is major news … a protest with teeth. Unlike the Tea Parties, which I supported and continue to support, this particular protest goes a step further. Conservatives will show the nation what it would be like if we simply did not work or spend our money. …
But government has pushed the citizens to this point. For now, this is a peaceful but firm protest to show Washington and 'progressives' that they can no longer expect us to simply roll over and play dead as they ram a socialist agenda down our throats. There are more of us than there are of them. We can shut this country down if we so choose.
… the burning issue at hand is taking the country back from Chicago thugs, charlatans, crooks, liars, and a Congress that is run by incompetent boobs who are just as corrupt as the gang at the White House.
We are now presented with a major opportunity to make a difference and force Washington to sit up and take notice of our deep discontent.

Whether people will participate remains to be seen. Expecting conservatives not to work is like expecting birds to stay in their nests all day and not fly around. Work is what conservatives do, just like expropriate the wealth created by that work is what liberals do. But desperate times do call for new measures.

The Paracité

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:01 AM

It's hard to believe the Paracité wasn't designed by Government Motors. The name of it even sounds like "parasite" — and what could be more parasitical than GM, now that it exists not to build cars but to funnel taxpayer money into the UAW's coffers?

Many of us park our cars at the railway station and then catch the local train to work or wherever it is that we have to go. Building on this theory is the Paracité, a single person commuter car that plans on putting the car itself on the rail tracks. Generally there is a 5 miles free space between two trains on a regular railway track. This free space and time can be utilized by these commuter cars to get people going on to their destinations. Essentially just hop into Paracité and drive up to the station and skip the train and wait for your turn; use the tracks till your destination and then drive off in it for the remainder of the journey.

The Paracité comes with a retractable arm that lets it balance on the railroad tracks. Hopefully there is also an ejector seat to use if a train comes. I wonder if the guys who have to clean up the wreckage afterward qualify as having "green jobs."

Moonbats Burn Marine's Flags

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:32 AM

Our progressive friends have gotten off to an early start celebrating the Fourth of July. In normally civilized Far North Dallas:

When Ed Jordan hung two flags from his front porch, one for his country and one for the Marine Corps he once served in, he thought no one would take issue with his gesture to honor the troops during the Fourth of July.
He returned home from an errand Monday morning to find the flags burned, their cinders scattered amid his azaleas.
The 70-year-old veteran was shocked when police told him that a flag at another house in his quiet neighborhood just north of Valley View Mall was also incinerated. …
"When I was on active duty, the flag always meant something to me," he said. "I'd always take pride when I saw it flying in civilian areas."
How others could take offense at the same sight was beyond his understanding.
"When you damage something that so many have died for, the symbol it represents, that, to me, is intolerable," he said.

The word "intolerable" also describes the prevalence of the ideology that inspires these incidents.

You would think that putting a socialist punk in the White House – the ultimate desecration of everything patriots hold sacred — would leave moonbats satisfied. But a cancer isn't satisfied until the patient dies – unless a way is found to cure it.

Jim Inhofe: Cap and Tax Is Dead, Despite Clown

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:06 AM

Our current government is so historically awful that it's tempting to fantasize about tarring, feathering, and running each and every member of Congress out of the District of Criminals on a rail. But there are few who don't deserve it. A prime example is Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK), who has been denouncing global warming as a hoax since the days when only a few had the guts to raise doubts in the face of the establishment's thuggish "consensus."

Here's what he has to say about the Tax and Charade suicide pact that the hard left got through the House — and about the obnoxious second-rate comedian who was allowed to ACORN his way into the Senate:

Inhofe said the much-anticipated conclusion of a Senate race in Minnesota that will give Democrats the 60 votes needed to overcome Republican filibusters would not be enough to save the climate change bill.
"I'll tell you what a lot of people are thinking, and that is it looks like things are going to be over and we are going to get the clown from Minnesota,'' he said.
"They are not going to get more than 35 votes.''
Asked if he was referring to Al Franken as the clown from Minnesota, Inhofe confirmed he was.
"I didn't mean to be disrespectful. I don't know the guy, but … for a living he is a clown,'' the senator said.
"That's what he does for a living.''

No doubt that's what he will continue to do for a living for the next six years, until Minnesotans have a chance to dislodge him from office.

How refreshing to hear a politician call a clown a clown. With enough countermoonbats like Inhofe, we could get this country back on track in no time.

Jim Inhofe does not suffer clowns gladly.

Bureaucrats Plan to Track How Far We Drive

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:47 AM

Bureaucratic micromanagers are now planning devices that will be coercively installed in our cars so they can keep track of how many miles we travel and tax us accordingly.

The idea of shifting to a by-the-mile tax has been discussed for years, but it now appears to be getting more serious attention. A federal commission, after a two-year study, concluded earlier this year that the road tax was the "best path forward" to keep revenues flowing to highway and transportation projects, and could be an important new tool to help manage traffic and relieve congestion.

By "relieve congestion" they mean make it so expensive to drive that people just stay home, where the government will be using special thermostats to keep track of whether we're overusing our AC.

Knowing much better than we do how we should live our lives and spend our money, there is nothing Big Government won't regulate and tax.

Lost at Sea

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:23 AM

The only problem with coastline is that some foul flotsam can wash up from the sea.

The Israeli navy took control of a boat that violated an Israeli blockade and crossed into Gazan waters Tuesday, the Israel Defense Forces said, while a Gaza group said the ship was carrying humanitarian aid, a former U.S. congresswoman and a Nobel laureate.
The boat's crew included former U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinney, according to the Free Gaza Movement, a human rights group that sent the boat it calls "Spirit of Humanity" from Cyprus.
Along with McKinney, who served six terms in the House of Representatives from Georgia and was the Green Party's presidential nominee in 2008, Israeli authorities took 20 people into custody, the group said.
Also aboard, the group said, was Mairead Maguire, who co-founded a group that worked for peace in Northern Ireland. Maguire and co-founder Betty Williams received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1977 for their work.

Betty Williams is a peace activist known for repeatedly shrieking about her desire to kill President Bush.

IDF said the Israeli navy contacted the boat, which it called the Arion, while it was still at sea and warned the crew they would not be allowed to enter Gazan waters "because of security risks in the area and the existing naval blockade."
Disregarding all warnings, the boat entered Gazan coastal waters, IDF said. An Israeli navy force intercepted, boarded and took control of the boat, directing it toward Ashdod, Israel, IDF said.
The boat's crew, the military said, would "be handed over to the proper authorities."

The proper authorities have donned their white coats, taken up their butterfly nets, and set off from Bellevue to collect their new wards.

Following California Over the Edge

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:48 AM

Healthcare isn't the only area where progressive California offers us a preview of our Obamunist future. The Land of Fruits and Nuts also shows us where his energy policies will lead:

While promoting his new cap-and-trade energy tax bill, which passed the U.S. House last week, President Obama revealed in a White House address on Monday his model for the nation's economy — California. "In the late 1970s, the state of California enacted tougher energy-efficiency policies," Obama said, noting that the state and its residents use less energy today per capita than the national average. "Think about that," he said, "California producing jobs, their economy keeping pace with the rest of the country and yet they've been able to maintain their energy usage in a much lower level than the rest of the country."
Obama might want to rethink his choice of a model state because it is easy to understand how California has curbed its energy use. Between 2000 and 2007, before the current recession, the state shed nearly 21 percent of its manufacturing jobs, driving down its industrial electrical consumption by 21 percent. California's industrial users pay electric rates twice as high as their Midwestern counterparts — which helps explain why so much heavy industry has fled the state. In addition to alienating its industry, California has also curbed energy use through exorbitant residential electric rates (50 percent higher than the national average) and massive net out-migration. Between 2005 and 2007, 2.14 million Californians moved to other states, while only 1.44 million people from elsewhere moved to the Golden State, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Don't be surprised when the 2010 Census finds even more people leaving to escape California's 11.5 percent unemployment. And, as jobs and residents fled California, its tax revenues have declined, while its politicians went on a spending binge, creating a severe budget crisis.

If Cap and Tax makes it through the Senate, Comrade Obama will sign it triumphantly, imposing California-style eco-insanity on the entire nation.

It will work a little differently on the national level. Instead of jobs leaving the state, they will leave the country. The Heritage Foundation forecasts 1.15 million jobs lost per year if the Dems push it through.

On the positive side, there will be more jobs in China, India, and Mexico. Since these countries can't afford the luxury of making environmentalism a priority, the result will be more pollution than if the jobs had stayed here — defeating the supposed purpose of the entire bill. But if the real purpose is to put millions of Americans out of work, increasing their dependence on Big Government, Cap and Tax ought to succeed spectacularly.

Census Cheating Already Underway in Detroit

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:13 AM

Why should the Left wait until 2010 to start fudging numbers on the Census to help advance their agenda? In America's most liberal city, they're at it already:

Eight of 10 Michigan communities experiencing the largest population drops between 2007 and 2008 census estimates are in Wayne County, and the fall may be due in part to a push to bolster numbers for Detroit, officials say.
The Census Bureau estimated Detroit's population at 912,062 for the year ending July 2008, a drop of only 0.5% since July 2007. But the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments estimates Detroit's population at about 831,000 as of April 2009 — about 81,000 fewer people.
Detroit officials protested the city's census estimate in 2006 and got a population boost as a result. At the same time, remaining communities apparently had to account for a larger proportion of Wayne County's drop.
"It's not directly at the expense of those other communities, although it does sort of work out that way," said Greg Harper, U.S. Census Bureau demographer.
Wayne County's July 2008 population was 2,061,162, down 31,725 from 2007. Every Wayne community has lost population in the census since Detroit's correction, something those familiar with population trends doubt.

Why pretend these people live in a largely empty city, instead of the suburbs?

State and federal money to communities, most notably federal Community Development Block Grant funds, are based on population.

So is Congressional representation. This is why Comrade Obama yanked control of the Census away from the Commerce Department, and handed it over to one of the guys who program his teleprompter.

We now live in a country where no one can believe official figures from the government.

California Offers ObamaCare Preview

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:54 AM

California continues to blaze a trail into our glorious socialist future:

A Superior Court judge in Sacramento County has rejected arguments that pending budget cuts to eliminate adult Medi-Cal dental benefits offered by low-income community and rural clinics violated federal law.
Judge Timothy Frawley, in a ruling made public Wednesday, said the Legislature was within its rights when it voted in February to save the state money by cutting adult Denti-Cal benefits, along with other benefits including podiatry and optometry, effective July 1.

Interested-Participant comments:

Apparently, health care decision-makers blew right past any thoughts of rationing the benefits and opted to make them simply disappear completely.

After Obama nationalizes healthcare, think how much money the government will save by leaving us to pull out our own teeth with pliers, like they do in Britain. If that doesn't fill up the multi-$trillion budget gap, bureauweenies can deny medical care to anyone over 70. Then anyone over 65. Then anyone over 60…

To demonstrate his reverence for their lifestyle, Comrade Obama has expanded federal benefits to homosexual "partners." He has asked Congress to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act, so that holy matrimony may be officially blasphemed on behalf of the gay agenda. He has called for allowing open homosexuality in the military, which in addition to opening the door to endless discrimination lawsuits, should do almost as much for morale as soldiers having to regard a community activist as Commander in Chief. He has announced his commitment to allowing more homosexuals with HIV into the country, so that they may spread their politically sacred disease among the population. Most alarmingly of all, he says he is working on "an employee nondiscrimination bill and a hate crimes bill" that will assure that unlike most of us gays cannot be fired and that they will be officially regarded as more equal than others before the law.

Too bad guys who are attracted to women don't form a political lobby. With our numbers, maybe we could make Chairman Zero pander to us too. The first demand: no more discriminating against normal people by granting special privileges to deviants.
