IRS Puts Tax Lien on Hanoi John Kerry's 2004 Campaign

Even in the Era of Hopey Change, there is occasionally news that brings a smile to your face:

The Internal Revenue Service has filed a tax lien seeking more than $800,000 from Sen. John Kerry's 2004 presidential campaign, escalating a dispute over payroll taxes that the lawmaker's office blames on faulty government paperwork. …
The IRS filed the lien in the District of Columbia earlier this year, claiming that a previous attempt to collect the money was unsuccessful. "We have made a demand for payment of this liability, but it remains unpaid," the tax filing stated.
The IRS is taking action more than a year after the campaign closed its books and sent nearly $200,000 in leftover presidential campaign money to Mr. Kerry's Senate election fund.

Skerry says he already paid the taxes. Tell it to the bureaucracy, Jean François!

Having married into hundreds of $millions, Hanoi John has plenty of money. But he may not be able to pay the taxes even if he's willing to; because he accepted public money for his fortunately unsuccessful presidential campaign, there are limits to how much of his wife's cash he can put into it — even to pay bills years after it's gone defunct.

Maybe the IRS can put a lien on his Senate seat.

And Kerry wants to put the health care system in government hands?

Jesus H. Christ, does any well-to-do pay his taxes? Or do they just spend all their time seeking justification to raise mine?

Don't they know he's a Democrat? They all get their penalties and interest forgiven.

yes, but he is a potential threat to Obama's second term. So under the bus for him.....
(it's a slim threat, but why take chances?)

This isn't a criminal issue, its an Democratic Party accounting issue. Nobody is going to jail! Nobody is going to pay any fines. Calm down.

Kerry was in Viet Nam? Live & learn!!

I think the tax payment went to the Obama campaign as an attempt to buy the Secretary of State nomination. (He said it was a contribution)
