Global Warming Looters' Bonanza

Every cloud has a silver lining for someone. If a terrible plague were to wipe out the human race, rats and cockroaches would be well situated to take over the planet. Similarly, trial lawyers stand to make a fortune on the global warming insanity neo-Marxists are using to finish off the economy. As always, a large portion of the loot will be kicked back to the Democrat Party, to ensure that the system remains dysfunctionally corrupt.

Self-proclaimed victims of global warming or those who "expect to suffer" from it — from beachfront property owners to asthmatics — for the first time would be able to sue the federal government or private businesses over greenhouse gas emissions under a little-noticed provision slipped into the House climate bill. …
Under the House bill, if a judge rules against the government, new rules would have to be drafted to alleviate the problems associated with climate change. If a judge rules against a company, the company would have to purchase additional "carbon emission allowances" through a cap-and-trade program that is to be created by Congress.
The measure sets grounds for anyone "who has suffered, or reasonably expects to suffer, a harm attributable, in whole or in part," to government inaction to file a "citizen suit." The term "harm" is broadly defined as "any effect of air pollution (including climate change), currently occurring or at risk of occurring."

"Victims" will be entitled to collect up to $1.5 million apiece. Since global warming is a fantasy, anything can be blamed on it. Too bad for lawyers they didn't think of looting the public treasury over the misdeeds of demons during the Middle Ages.

The "green jobs" we've been promised are likely to consist of mowing the expansive lawns of trial lawyers, who as parasites are among the few that actually benefit from moonbattery.

Speaking of rats, look who's behind the bill.

On a tip from The MaryHunter.

There are laws in this universe that not even liberals can change. Gravity. The speed of light. The consequence of a parasite killing its host. Entropy. It is a long list. There is one law that will surely get these bastards and their progeny--the law of diminishing returns. When it no longer pays to try, those who produce won't.

I'll be suing Chairman 0 for victimizing me with his 1,300 lbs CO2 pizzas.

where do I sign up for mine?

because AGW is going to turn Minnesota into a semi-arid desert I will have to completely relandscape my yard, I figure a cool million should cover it along with the cost of replacing my scorched siding

Henry: and everybody who has both a mansion or three and a plane.

Ah, the law of unintended consequences that liberals can never ever see, because they can't think things through. Chuck, I'm a northerner too. I'm going to need to install central air for me and my poor lower-income tenants, as well as the landscaping you mention. I'll graciously settle for a million as well.

As an asthmatic myself, I'd like to sue the government for removing the CFC propellant from my rescue inhaler. It is now fairly useless for rescue and all due to the ridiculous notion that cfc's in asthma inhalers are hurting the ozone layer.

Posted by: the bronx girl at April 10, 2009 11:49 AM

Bronx girl,

You don't know the funny part! The aluminum industry produces some unknown quantity on the order of 2,000 to 3,000 metric tons/year of fluorinated gases many of which are every bit as bad for ozone as what was in your inhaler. You could fill every inhaler everybody on the planet could use for a life time and not even affect the total that this industry puts out--it would be like adding or subtracting the weight of a fly landing on a destroyer and making a comment about how much deeper it sinks or higher it floats.

I'm convinced that rat-faced Henry Waxman has been hell-bent on ruining peoples live simply because he's angry that he was cursed to have to go through life with a pig nose.

Let's not have this defeatist talk. Can we change the laws of physics? Yes We Can! We just need to mobilize Soros & Co. ACORN, Code Pink, Algore, Keith Olbermann, Barbra Streisand, and all the other usual suspects.

Now we all need to clap our hands together, just like when we saved Tinkerbell so many years ago... /liberal "thought" processes

Posted by: Jay Guevara at April 10, 2009 12:41 PM

Bronx Girl,
You should start a "Green" movement to get your CFC back. Because pound for pound ozone is 3000x more efficient as a "greenhouse" gas than the dreaded (and no doubt invented by a Republican) CO2 molecule.

So using CFC in your inhaler "saves the planet."

I've linked to your post with a quotation from a collection of articles titled Politics of Global Warming

It is about the control of energy used by the population

It is about control of the Life Style of the population

It is about control of reproduction of the population

First I agree with BronxGirl - the inhalers are useless. But second when the government takes over health care and other businesses, and manufacturing, and everything else the only silver lining is NO MORE personal injury and class action lawyers. You think they'll be able to sue the government? HA! Plus, there are not enough jobs for them to go around in government. That's one upside anyway.

Two phrases with which I love to antagonize the chicken-little crowd are to them as salt on a slug.
"volcanic ash" and "solar flares."

Liberal hat OF:

I believe in global warming and that the tempature increase of three... no, six... no, ten... no, twelve degrees by the year 2100 will cause the polar ice caps to melt and raise the sea levels eighteen inches... no, two feet... no, three feet... no, twenty meters... no, twenty four feet.

What good is having all the money in the world if there is nothing to buy with it?

Posted by: James McEnanly at April 10, 2009 7:20 PM

This is such a pile of crap from a legal point of view. They are proposing to award millions without a showing of either damages or causation. We truly live in Crazytown.
And Jesus, will you look at the nose on that guy?

Green and greedy the only green these moonbat eco-freaks want is all that illgotten cash THE VULTURES AND SHARKS ARE GATHERING IN WASHINGTON D.C.(DISTRICT of CRINIMALS)

Van. I'm sure I posted a link to the law firms that were lined up and ready to pursue this path of litigation (probabally around 12 months ago).

I have to go back and search on that one.

I do know that one of the biggest firms waiting to pounce was from Chicago.

Posted by: Oiao at April 10, 2009 9:40 PM

So THAT'S why the inhaler doesn't deliver the same blast as it used to - they took out the effective propellant! Bastards...

I hear you. But I think people like Waxman know this would help to destroy the current energy industry. That's the real goal. These people think our way of life is just a given no mater what they do. Since there are already laws on the books where a person that actually suffers harm from another party can sue for damages it doesn't have anything to do with harm. Once they've destroyed the energy industry they'll probably claim that the free market hasn't worked and so, the energy industry needs to be nationalized.

Why is this unspeakable lawlessness only now in the last 3 months, being done OPENLY and to GLOWING PRAISE from the media? CLOWARD-PIVEN IN ACTION, and I'm not even kidding. Please post about this - tying up the fed gov't with impossible spending demands, tying up courts and police and businesses with eviction processes in order to destroy all private property rights and enact socialism? Instead of rioting, they are merely openly flouting the law in a manner that can **actually** destroy the republic and the foundation of the country - read it and weep:

Posted by: Anniee451 at April 11, 2009 11:05 AM

Waxman calls himself a servant of the people.
Thats a laugh. They all just think they can take and take and nothing will happen to them. Right up until the time some angry mob puts a noose around their collective necks and hangs them in the Capitol rotunda. Marie Antoinette didn't learn until someone separated her brain from her body with a really sharp argument. I really think it will come to that. They won't stop until they are stopped forcibly. The sad part is, many innocent people will lose their lives simply by being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Posted by: gordo at April 12, 2009 12:30 AM

I suggest that these people have finally stepped beyond their intellect and have made a grave error. What happens if some of these law suits are actually heard by an honest judge whom asks these loonies to actually prove their hair brained theory? The wheels will fall off of their religion. ALGORE will appear naked before the masses. And we will wise up and get ready for the colder climate that is on the way.
