Barack Obama, Capitalist

Our great socialist leader can play any game and win — even capitalism:

On February 22, 2005, Barack Obama, a U.S. Senator at the time, placed a trade on a tiny biotechnology company out of Oregon. The biotech company's name is AVI Biopharma.
Records show that Obama purchased tiny AVI Biopharma just above $2 a share.
AVI Biopharma is a biotech that's been around for years. It develops drugs intended for the use to treat infectious diseases... some of which the Department of Homeland Security have deemed "bioterrorism" viruses like West Nile, Dengue fever, SARS and Ebola.

However, the company had been around since 1980, and had never brought a single drug to market. Yet guided by his preternatural capitalistic savvy, Chairman Zero bought the stock. By some remarkable coincidence…

8 months after Obama bought the stock, the company was awarded a $28 million contract from the federal government to research treatments against biological warfare or a bioterrorism attack.
AVI Biopharma spiked in price… and days after the announcement, Obama sold his shares and booked a 73% profit.

Reminds you of Shrillary, doesn't it? No wonder our socialist rulers think all money is easy money, to be redistributed on a whim. For them, it is easy.

So that's why he looks so insufferably pleased with himself.

On a tip from Kevin R.

O our dear leader is used inside information to cheat the system. But look at his smile!!! Its such an awesome smile!

That's why he thinks all business execs are crooks getting rich on insider information - because thats what he does and then he projects his unethical behavior on everyone else.

I don't suppose anyone is going to try to press any real charges on him for this?

No seriously, isn't that insider trading? I believe that is illegal. It certainly was when Michael Moore so eloquently examined the correlation between Bushitler and Big Oil.

Or was that different because it wasn't "for the children"...

That smile is creepy. It looks like he wants to buy my children.

Damn nice white teeth for a smoker......
He still looks like the Anti-Christ to me.

You know, I always liked the movie "V for Vendetta"... great story, if you just do a little mental finagling and think of the fascist overlord government as left-wing. It actually makes more sense that way. Seeing this reminds me of the story line in "V" about a manufactured crisis that happens to make the manufacturers of that crisis rich to boot.

I'm no conspiracy kook, but it'd be interesting to look a little further behind this particular curtain.

Read the book, Hiram... it was ten times better than the movie.

Quote: "One of the companies was a biotech concern [AVI Biopharma--ed] that was starting to develop a drug to treat avian flu. In March 2005, two weeks after buying about $5,000 of its shares, Mr. Obama took the lead in a legislative push for more federal spending to battle the disease."

The other company was working on combating Avian Flu as well.

From the NY TIMES in '07. (I guess when they were still backing Hillary at that time.)

Actually, I'm wrong. Skyterra was for something else.

In fairness, guys, I don't fault Obama for this one.

No reason to think this is insider trading. Bioterrorism and SBIR grants are outside the purview of individual Senators. So I give him a skip on this one.

"Two weeks after buying about $5,000 of its shares, Mr. Obama took the lead in a legislative push for more FEDERAL spending to battle the disease."

Two days after they got a $28m FEDERAL contract to battle the disease, and stock price soars, he sells.

This is a timeline that will be fleshed out before too long, according to the tealeaves I read in the Gypsy caravan.
