Israeli Aggression

Despite all the menacing Hopey Change in the air, some things remain the same. This cartoon is from 1956:

On a tip from mandible claw.

could anything be more true?

i'm reminded of all the verses in the bible related to dividing israel and how those who partake in such ventures are brought low.

psalms 122:6

wouldn't it be a great thing if the USA and a few other nations said something like:

"We recognive the right of Isreal to defend itself and we support Isreal with what ever actions it needs to take to stop these attacks.".

Take no further questions, offer no more comment.

Then close down the UN in NYC and make it a Sams Club.

The cartoon misses the part where the settler goes and kills all of the Arab's family leading to a death ratio of 100:1.

Yeah, I know: people are a little too squeemish for that sort of thing. It's always nice when you can turn a conflict that ends up with thousands and thousands of innocent dead children into a cartoon instead. I mean, hey - it's just politics. It's fun.

Posted by: pan at February 13, 2009 11:59 AM

What do you think we do now, bjd? We give Israel BILLIONS of no strings attached (i.e., keep building settlements in the WB) military aid EVERY YEAR and never intervene when they act militarily.

What more should we do? Some of these military operations are necessary for Israel's survival, granted, but what should the US do when they happen? Do some sort of blood dance? Encourage them kill EVERY Palestinian?

Please, be specific about what else we should do.

Posted by: pan at February 13, 2009 12:03 PM

So the launching of rockets daily at schools, hospitals, and homes of those in Isreal is OK but when a TERRORIST (say it with me pan, it's not hard, T-E-R-R-O-R-I-S-T) group HIDES behind behind women and children and they get hit it's bad. How about this, DO NOT HIDE BEHIND WOMEN AND CHILDREN!!!

Yes we do support Isreal but we ALWAYS state that Isreal needs to use restraint. (Do we really want to go into how we fund TERRORIST too?)

If Mexico was lobbing missles into this country because THEY think California belongs to them (as much as I'd like to let them have parts of it back) would Isreal say to us, "You must use restraint", and more importantly if they did say that would we listen?

Even with the obamessiah in office I would expect him to secure first, talk second.

We should increase our support by not trying to play both sides of the coin. Let them suffer the effects caused by their actions. We shouldn't say to Isreal, "OK but don't hurt them too much".

We should get out of the way totally, and if they need more: equipment, soilders, or anything else, make it available to them.

It will NEVER stop UNTILL Isreal solves it. They don't need the US or anybody else in the world telling them how to fight their war. You win the peace by killing those that are trying to kill you.

A reply from the statistic on the Daily Telegraph:

A poll commissioned by the ADL shows that 33% of Europeans blame the Jews for the financial meltdown. A mind-boggling 74% Spaniards think so; another 2/3 of Spaniards think that Jews are more loyal to Israel than to their home countries.

Good that Americans don't resort to anti-Semitic bigotry when it comes to the financial meltdown. Who needs Jews when got an even wussier group of people handy:

Anti-Semitic bigotry is as big a problem in Europe now as it was in the 1930s but try not to play the holier than thou card.

Posted by: George Miller at February 13, 2009 3:33 PM

The harming of Civilians, children included on both sides especially is very bad.
However, Israel shows restraint for months, with up to 80 random rocket attacks a day, before it pays back in one fell swoop with its superior military.
What does Hamas, Hezbollah etc. expect. They know what is going to happen and then its the same old looney western propaganda machine condemning them, with a few reluctant voices acknowledging that it is bitterly acceptable.
The same pattern time and time again.
The surrounding Muslims, Arab or otherwise have to accept that there is one Country in the Middle of 22 that is about the size of Wales and not one of them. Why should they have gotten such a majority of the pie and what do they have to complain about as Jews, Christians and more were there long before them?!
The only solution to this is a concerted Muslim acceptance that they have to absorb the palestinian Moslems that are not prepared to capitulate to a non-Muslim Property in their midst.
It is not for anyone else to back off, when they have the Lion's share of the Middle east including oil rich Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States.
If they did not have Israel to forever blame, who would it be, cause you can bet your bottom dollar it would be someone.
Given any and the mildest excuses all they want to do is fight, maim and kill.
Nobody else is like that to such a degree.
There are only two solutions
Israel packs up and integrates into the rest of the civilised world
The Palestinians pack up and integrate into the rest of the Moslem world
Heads or Tails
Personally I think the hoggers of Middle Eastern lands ought to back off and be satisfied with their 22 Countries' worth. The West should keep its satellite
Heads or Tails.
However, its not up to me, just one of millions of opinions!

It really is remarkable how little has changed in over 50 years.

And if that region survives another 50 years it will still be Arabs attacking Israel and getting upset when Israel fights back. The Arabs/Muslims are truly vile people.

Posted by: Cartman at February 13, 2009 9:32 PM

Cartman said it. Nothing has changed.

Right is wrong and wrong is right.

Ask any silly liberal. If it were up to them they'd switch gravity. It was Global warming then climate change and now global cooling. Anything to have control. They (liberals) would kill us if they could. Just like Pol Pot killed everyone wearing glasses (the educated). Control is everything to liberals.

That cartoon would realy go for the radical eco-freaks since his nasty neighbor was trying to cut down the tree

Thank you, Pan.

I don't want my tax dollars continuing to support this idiotic savagery.

I'm an American. My loyalty is to America.

I find this cartoon to be, well a cartoon.
I guess I'll look elsewhere for insights on the Mideast and the Arab/Israeli conflict.

Its my understanding that there were arabs, muslims jews, and christians all living in the land that then became Israel. The entire Mideast was redrawn by the Allies after WW2.

So that farmer in the cartoon is on land that has a history and I want that history to not just be swept aside.

Don't pretend you know everything about it and have god like certainty of all the facts. That would be something easy to discredit and dismiss as slanted, biased, and hardly a fair and balanced.

Pan: do some reading of international law, on culpability for civilian deaths incurred in a counterattack to an attack launched from a civilian area. Hint: it's not the counterattacker who is culpable. As for settlements in the West Bank - please do enlighten us on what that has to do with current debate on Israeli military operations, since the cartoon is puite clearly posted in reference to the recent operation in the unoccupied Gaza Strip.

Posted by: Mandible Claw at February 15, 2009 11:04 AM

Fine Aaht: there are around 2 million Arabs living in Israel, one fifth of the population. They have each and every right that Jewish Israelis do; There are an approximately equitalent proportion of Knesset members who are Arabic and, in fact, Israel for a brief period had an Arabic Prime Minister not too long ago. I challenge you to find another country in the Middle East that extends such courtesies to its Jewish population.

Posted by: Mandible Claw at February 15, 2009 11:13 AM

Hashfanatic: who do you think it was that facilitated the Iran weapons sales during the embassy hostage crisis? Israelis have risked their lives to protect American interests-can you say the same of Americans? By the way, please do compare the 'aid' figures with Israeli purchases of military hardware from the US. And look up the 'Golan' Hummers the US were using - it ain't one way and if it is, on balance, more Israeli lives have been risked, more shekels per capita spent, than vice versa

I just wrote a post but it appears its been withheld by a script. I'll be back to see if it appears. Maybe a change of IP address is the reason. . .

I guess I hear too much about israeli apartheid to just take your word for it Mandible Claw, but thanks for the thoughtful reply I hope mine gets posted eventually.

I guess I hear too much about israeli apartheid to just take your word for it Mandible Claw

If you read too much about "Israeli apartheid" then you are reading in the wrong place.

As I said: Around 20% of Israelis are Arabs, and have each and every single right that Israeli Jews have, nor are they restricted or separated in any way from the populace.

No need to take my word for it, that information is readily available in any encyclopedia.

Israel should reclaim 1 sq km of the land they have been surrendering to the terrorists each time another bomb or missile is used. They should jam every palestinian radio and television transmission, and broadcast a continuous repeating message stating that until the palestinian people themselves kill every member of Hamas, palestinian lands will continue to get smaller and smaller until there is nothing left at all for them.

Posted by: Robert at February 16, 2009 7:34 AM

Dear Pan;

The Muslims are blood thirsty monsters. The Palestinians want the war. They want to kill or drive out all the Jews in the Holy Land.

Israel should give them General Shermans war. Scorched earth, kill as many Palestinians as possible until they are all gone or are really interested in peace.

There is no political solution when one of the sides are nothing but blood thirsty Muslim animals!

True insanity is when you continue to do the same thing and expect a different result. The haters of Jews will not win, but their mentality is somewhere back in time and they must let their children be free of this foolish hatred or more generations will suffer.

Dear Pan:

If you read the Hamas press releases that plainly state their reasons for launching rockets into Israel you will find that each and every rocket was fired with the intent of killing Israeli citizens.

If you read the Israeli press releases that give their reasons for launching rockets and mortar attacks into Gaza you will find that each and every attack was launched with the intended purpose of killing members of Hamas.

Can you give me a single reason why Israel should be censured just because their aim was better?

Posted by: otpu at February 16, 2009 10:46 AM

I do wonder why the Israelis put up with this nonsense. No American president, not even Jimmy Carter, would have accepted missiles being launched to land randomly on American soil. If the Canadians had been launching rockets on us from Toronto, well, Canada would be demolished.

I don't think 1 sq km per missile is the right way to do it because thats too calm and logical. Its too reminiscent of LBJ's trying to send a message with B-52's. What is needed is fear and trembling on the part of the terrorists.

I keep getting my comments withheld by this script

It says it is to block malicious comments from new posters. Seems sort of suspect that this is my second post to get bounced but others have posted fine.

Changing user name, trying again.

Original post, first part

Mandible claw, thanks for reiterating your arguments, as I stated I have a post that was not posted full of links to examples of israeli apartheid. Do not focus on Arabs to the exclusion of Muslims and Christian Palestinians who you claim have the same rights as any israeli.

You suggestions to consult an encyclopedia is not a good one. I would feel that news reports would be acceptable and up to date.

If you are open to the idea that Israel might be practicing apartheid, than don't look in the "right" place, look in the places where that information is and then decide if you think it has merit.
