most excellent depictions!

Hey, did anybody call in sick today at anyone's work? As far as I know, nobody here did. I feel sorry for any straight who is legitimately sick today.

Anyway, I guess we'll have to do without some hairdressers, interior decorators, and florists today.

A trite cartoon implying that homosexuality poses an indelible argument against the theory of evolution and natural selection represents the kind of juvenile ignorance that liberals look for to deride conservative politics and ideas.
And because evolution represents a fundamental law of nature, a kick to Darwin by conservatives provides good ammunition.

This should be removed.

karin - i'll be interested to see how this little protest goes!

This morning in my (nameless) workplace, one of our television anchors called out today to participate. No real suprise there- he's very open about it. What is suprising is the other gay anchor that DID come to work today. Nobody questioned him, but we know now that he is (even if nothing more than pecuniarily) inclined to come and fulfill his job obligations regardless. Apparently making a statement is less important than paying one.

Fiberal, I object to anyone saying "this should be removed" on the internet, not without EXTREMELY good cause. What, are you Henry Waxman or Upchuck Schumer?

Muff, in my smallish town, our morning anchor is also gay, and so is our mayor. They were both at work. Our mayor actually leans a bit right-ish, and is quite grown up about his gay-ness.

If I were managing your television station, I would not take kindly to the anchor who called in. Even though anchors are just playing pretend dress-up as "journalists" they should still play the part and not wear their agendas on their sleeves. I have standards though.

so,, where can I get the bumperstickers??

Posted by: Eric at December 10, 2008 11:48 AM

Karin

To be specific for you: 'removed from this site'.
I don't care what's on the internet. But it doesn't help conservatives to flagrantly associate with (even if presented in a cutesy manner) positions completely at odds with scientific fact.

That's as much of a weakenss as liberal conspiratorialists who see black helicopters.

There was a religious sect in Russia during the 1800's who believed in castration (frequently self mutilation). They were called the Skoptsy. History records that they died out.

I've kind of wondered if the body piercing self-mutilating freaks in San Francisco ever got religious why they wouldn't go this route.

Government Declares New Crime: “Food Hoarding”

Ohio authorities stormed a farm house in LaGange Monday, December 1, to execute a search warrant, holding the Jacqueline and John Stowers and their son and young grandchildren at gunpoint for nine hours.

During the raid the Ohio Department of Agriculture and police confiscated over ten thousand dollars worth of food, computers and cell phones.

The Stowers’ crime? They run a private, members-only food co-op.

Some good news: here.

And, Fiberal (or anonymous, or whatever your name is) You are worse than unclear. Who cares anyway? Go have a beer.

Simple formula for you:

Homosexual + Homosexual = Genes become extinct in one generation

Worse torture used by EU is okay because, well, the EU is not America

But this is where the second salient aspect of the echr Gäfgen ruling is especially relevant. For while the echr found that the Frankfurt police’s treatment of Gäfgen did constitute “inhuman treatment,” it accepted the Frankfurt District Court’s judgment that under the circumstances this treatment did not warrant punishment.

The Court found that mere threats of violence, if they are not carried out, do not as such constitute torture.
The compassion shown for the perpetrators in the Frankfurt court’s judgment is striking. In adumbrating the “massively extenuating circumstances” that on its view militated against the application of sanction, it notes that “for both of the accused, it was exclusively and urgently a matter of saving the child’s life.” It is “also to be taken into account,” the Court adds a bit further on, “that g’s [Gäfgen’s] provocative and unscrupulous manner of answering questions had strained the nerves of the investigators to the breaking point (aufs äußerste strapazierte). Trained in law, he knew how to formulate and present his responses, so that they constantly produced doubts, hopes, and disappointments and provided no certainty.” “Moreover,” the Court continues, “the situation was extraordinarily chaotic. The police personnel had been on duty overtime. They were worn out and tired. The accused E. [Ennigkeit] had worked through the night and the accused D. [Daschner] had only slept for a few hours. The overwrought sensibilities of the accused substantially reduces their guilt, since they lowered their inhibitions to acting. Neither man could take any more. Furthermore, both of them had led irreproachable lives up to that point.” And so on.12

One may well wonder whether the accusers of Donald Rumsfeld and other Pentagon officials would be prepared to acknowledge “massively extenuating circumstances” in their cases. But if the desire to save the life of an eleven-year-old boy is an extenuating circumstance, how can the desire to prevent a follow-on attack to 9/11 and to save potentially thousands of innocent lives not be one? And if the difficulty involved in questioning a wily and arrogant 27-year-old student who has been “trained in law” is an extenuating circumstance, how can the difficulty involved in questioning an evasive and potentially dangerous al Qaeda operative who has been trained in operational security measures not be one?

Hussein's no-mentioning middle name allowed again

Hurray! Everyone can now relax and use Barack Obama's middle name, Hussein. It is no longer racist to do so. The Chicago Tribune reports that the PEOTUS plans to "reboot America's image" and use his middle name when he sworn in. Ever the opportunist, he is packaging a self-serving political maneuver as a service to America:

"I think we've got a unique opportunity to reboot America's image around the world and also in the Muslim world in particular,'' Obama said Tuesday, promising an "unrelenting" desire to "create a relationship of mutual respect and partnership in countries and with peoples of good will who want their citizens and ours to prosper together."

The world, he said, "is ready for that message."
