Chuck Schumer Calls for Suppression of Conservative Speech

If you need only one reason to get to the polls and vote straight ticket Republican, let it be the Orwellian "Fairness Doctrine," which Democrats may soon have the leverage to impose, with the deliberate purpose of silencing talk radio by regulating it to death. Here's Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) taunting Fox News on the topic:

I think we should all be fair and balanced, don't you?

Under the Unfairness Doctrine, all political speech will be "fair and balanced," as determined by left-leaning bureaucrats. Otherwise it will be deemed criminal — in America, the country thousands of heroes have died to keep free.

Chucky Schmucky goes further:

The very same people who don't want the Fairness Doctrine want the FCC [Federal Communications Commission] to limit pornography on the air. I am for that… But you can't say government hands off in one area to a commercial enterprise but you are allowed to intervene in another. That's not consistent.

Apparently the odious PBS propagandist Bill Moyers isn't the only one who regards conservative radio as "political pornography."

Should they manage to pass this I hope conservatives launch an all out counter offensive against NPR. Then go after the Daily Show. Throw in The View and get rid of one of the liberal hags and bring in another easy on the eyes conservative. Then go after every left leaning gay rights, pro-abortion radio station on the west coast.

That's if they can ever convince the Supreme Court that FCC regulations trump the First Amendment 'No Law' clause.

year 2006 "Berlusconi is Prime Minister of Italy; he is the country's richest man, and his business empire includes a 35.5 percent stake in Mediaset, the television company he founded in 1995 and on whose station he was appearing. Through that ownership and his political control of public TV, Berlusconi holds sway over six of Italy's seven main TV channels, which together command 87 percent of the viewing audience."

Now thats more like it... why shouldn't the person with the most money have the greatest control over what people see, hear and eventually think.... them europeans ain't so surrender monkey after all

Fez, the term "Surrender Monkeys" is only used to describe the French (Taken from an episode of "The Simpsons" in which, in the wake of a teacher's strike, Groundskeeper Willy teaches the school's French class), not the Italians. It might not even apply to the French that much anymore, either, since Sarkozy seems to be a pretty good guy for the most part.

You can bet the "Fairness Doctrine" wont be applied to CBS, ABC, CNN, NBC and especially CNBC (99% liberal).

The funny part is that most of the wealthy supported Obama. They know they can shelter there vast fortunes in Swiss Banks or the Cayman Island or some place like that. And they move businesses offshore to evade higher taxes here in the US and will likely change their main address to another country. The rest of us cant do that, so we get stuck paying the taxes.

Fez says....you do realize, surrender monkey=socialist=communist=fascist=Obama=people who will take your guns etc etc. ...its all blurred together for everyone who isnt far right of center here in MoonBatVille.

But how about that Berlusconi?

I believe the French are quite fed up with Sarkozy... check it out
