Canada Clamps Down on Carpooling

Under moonbattery, creative entrepreneurship must always be punished by bureaucrats, even if it advances politically correct objectives. A case in point is an outfit called PickupPal, which has hoped to capitalize on the enviromentalism fad, as well as the $zillions governments have spent on carpooling lanes, by helping people to get together to carpool.

Canadian bus companies didn't like it, so they called in bureaucrats to break the competition's kneecaps by taking PickupPal to court. Carpoolers in Ontario are required to obey various meaningless restrictions, such as traveling together only to and from work. PickupPal has been fined CA$11,000 for its nefarious activities.

That will teach these money-grubbers for displaying initiative. Under moonbattery, subjects are to look at their shoes as they shuffle mindlessly forward. Do as you're told, and the government will see to all of your needs. Remember, if it isn't mandatory, it's probably forbidden.

On a tip from Steve.

Well want to save the planet and lower emissions and all that...but only if the cost is to the tax payer. If someone (such as a bus company or God forbid the GOVERNMENT) loses money, then WHOA! Don't worry about the environment! Just pass a law ensuring that those bucks keep on a'rollin' in.

And to think, AlGore is going to be our new "Environmental Czar".

Yay! Hat tip for me!!!

This story is insane. Apparently, when you enter government, your brain immediately goes into a mode where it actively searches out new areas that need legislation.

Think about it. Someone actually had to sit down and think the thought that you can only carpool to and from work, and within a single province, and that the same person has to drive.

If you morons would just get in line and LISTEN, we wouldn't have so many problems.

You just don't understand the the virtue of bureaucracy.

You can't win, you can't break even, you can't even quit the game.
