Even Condi Admits That Biofuels Cause Food Prices to Soar

Taking a break from her evenhanded efforts to feed Israel to the Islamic crocodile, Condi Rice admits the obvious: the disastrous biofuel boondoggle is driving food prices through the stratosphere:

Setting aside farmland to produce biofuels like ethanol may be partly to blame for driving up world food prices, US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Monday.
"There has been apparently some effect, unintended consequence from the alternative fuels effort," Rice told a meeting in Washington when asked for the US government's view on skyrocketing food prices.
"Although we believe that while biofuels continue to be an extremely important piece of the alternative energy picture, obviously we want to make sure that it is not having an adverse affect," she said.

This from an administration that has gone out of its way to prop up biofuels, with the help of $billions looted from taxpayers.

How much misery will the next solution to the imaginary climate change crisis cause?

On a tip from mega.

Even the Time magazine I read today while waiting for a haircut (way against my better judgment) in its April 8 edition calls ethanol an "ecologic and economic disaster." Burning through a barrel of oil to make a barrel of ethanol with 70% the fuel efficiency of gasoline is abject idiocy, when you add in all the emissions that burning ethanol generates. But just as with global warming and all the other green Kool-aid du jour larks, you can't tell them anything until it goes down like the Hindenburg. The MSM and their moonbat minions will just shrug and move on to the next exercise in rank stupidity. And so it goes.

I agree that ethanol is not the answer. There have been many new developments in solar energy including solar spray on cells which are exciting. US cities are also getting caught up on mass transit.

Moonbattery,

BioFuels are not a liberal or a conservative issue. It is an American issue, one that will make America strong.

Corn-based ethanol has become a viable and popular fuel, both for cleaner air and to stretch our planet’s fuel supplies.

And it's American grown. And distributed by ADM.

There are many uses for corn. ADM promotes all of them. Please do not make this a political issue.

"unintended consequence from the alternative fuels effort"

Condi's entire government tenure is a case study in "unintended consequences". I cannot think of a human being, at any point in time, ever, who was more consistently blindsighted by consequences that were unintended and unanticipated and unexpected and unplanned for. Condi, here is a way to not be blindsighted again - just assume that whatever you touch will turn to shit, and work from there.

Did anyone else see the premier of the "Carrier" series last night? Great stuff.

One sequence showed a new recruit being interviewed, and was asked "Who is the Secretary of Defense?"

Long pause. L-o-n-g p-a-u-s-e.

"Uh. Cunnilingus Rice?"

How is it that the country most likely to do battle with the United States in the coming decades is afraid of dolls? Seriously, can't we just kick their asses or something.

Actually, it sounds to me like all we need to do is load a few planes with Barbie, Ken, and GI Joe dolls and drop em over Iran. It should be enough to put them into a state of emergency for years!!!!
