Chavez Forbids Criticism

Hugo Chavez has again demonstrated his devotion to liberty by forbidding visitors from criticizing his government. Bellowed the Left's latest heartthrob:

How long are we going to allow a person, from any country in the world, to come to our own house to say there's a dictatorship here, that the President is a tyrant, and no one does anything about it?

It's a good thing for Chavez the USA doesn't have laws like this, or he would have been in hot water for the childish insults he directed at President Bush at the UN last year, and on friendly soil in Harlem.

Venezuela's media isn't allowed to criticize the government either. Radio Caracas Television has been driven off the air, and Venevision has knuckled under, replacing critical coverage with state-sanctioned propaganda. The only remaining opposition media is Globovision, which is currently under investigation.

Better at dishing it out than taking it.

My Lord he is a pest. If ever there was a guy that needed to be overthrown by a secret CIA coup, this nutcast would be the one. And why again do WE allow people to come to OUR country and insult it??

I understand your sentiments, Chris, but hope that that doesn't happen. If it does, the leftists will claim everything was great and getting greater, and then this populist hero was overthrown (see Allende).

I'd rather he just ran Venezuela into the ground, as he's now doing, until everyone agrees he's made a mess through following socialist policies, and he gets overthrown by his own people. Sort of the Ceausescu model, rather than the Allende one. No one blubs for Ceausescu, not even leftists.

I was only 1/3 serious Jay, and I agree-the best way to defeat leftists is to let them destroy themselves, unless they become a real threat to us by allowing Red China to build nuclear sites or missile bases there or something-then he must go.
