Oregon's State Climatologist George Taylor to Be Fired For Choosing Science Over Moonbattery

War on Weather Kool-Aid guzzlers often ask why many scientists would claim people cause global warming if it isn't true. The case of George Taylor illustrates the answer.

Since 1991, Taylor has held the title of Oregon's State Climatologist. The problem is, he takes climatology more seriously than he takes the state, and refuses to go along with the herd regarding global warming dogma. He is not willing to renounce the fact that temperature fluctuations are the result of natural climate cycles, not politically incorrect sins against Gaia.

Naturally bureaucrats will not let this arrogance go unpunished. Governor Ted Kulongoski wants to replace Taylor with a political hack appointed by himself. According to Kulongoski, the state needs to present a consistent position, science be damned:

I just think there has to be somebody that says, "this is the state position on this."

Unfortunately there are plenty of career-minded "scientists" who will be more than happy to parrot the state position, whatever politics dictate it to be.

George Taylor: more guts than many.

Isn't this where those 18,000 signatures rejecting global warming came from??

"Somebody that says, This is the state position on scientific issue X..."

I guess Kulongoski is the new Kim Jong Il.

I mean, I thought this was the United States of America. Not North Korea. Or the former Soviet Union. Or the medieval Papal States (think Galileo).

While I do think Governor Ted Kulongoski is a twit on this issue, the post here implies that George Taylor is getting fired for his alleged climatolocigal heresy (at least as I'm reading it). According to the article linked (again, as I'm reading it) Taylor holds a position at Oregon State University, which coined the title "state climatologist" to describe his position. The governor appears to be trying to create an official position within the state government of "state climatologist" as a tame parrot for his political position, not trying to fire Taylor and replace him with a talking head. Either way, the guv is still a tool.

Sounds like Kulongoski is forming a state-sponsered religion to me. When a washed-up politician (Gore) with an axe to grind goes hollywood over this, then surely it shouts "politics" vs. bona fide science to all who know of it. Don't think as many folks are going to be hoodwinked over this as was originally suspected, but it doesn't matter, since pit-bitch Pelosi and her congress will be reigning 'til Kingdom come...literally.

The bad thing is that the democrat voters will swallow what this gov says, and anything else that's thrown at them.

The gov will get his way, not because it's right, but because the mindset of the people that elected him, pelosi, and others is that anything their side says is right, and anything the enemy (republicans) say is wrong. Truth be damned.
