Moonbats Crusade to Raise Your Power Bill

Are your energy bills too low? Not to worry — New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer — evidently the state's next governor — is on the case, leading a moonbat crusade to force the federal government to smother power plants with even more draconian regulations in the name of combating global warming.

Other progressive states that have chirped in with "me too" include the usual suspects: California, Massachusetts, Oregon, Vermont, etc. Also participating in the suit are the cities of New York and Washington, and some of the powerful environmental groups that we can thank for high gas prices, namely Environmental Defense, Natural Resources Defense Council, and Sierra Club.

The EPA argues that the law does not authorize it to regulate emissions to reduce global warming. It also points out that there is insufficient data to support such regulation. In other words, why cripple the economy when we don't even know that global warming is real, much less that CO2 emissions have any effect on it?

However, that sort of reasoning is unlikely to sway a fellow like Spitzer, who may hope to ride his left-wing crusades all the way to the White House.

Try to get used to Spitzer's face; you might be seeing a lot of it.

I was at EPA in Washington during the time we were hyper-regulating power companies and others over acid rain.

And yet, at the same time we were forcing massive changes to power generating facilities, we had studies which questioned the validity of the premises upon which the regulations were based.

At the same time we forced tens of billions to be spent to address the issue, many many millions of Americans died of various cancers. Had we taken a portion of the money we spent to enforce the hyper regulation of power plants on treating cancer, we could have saved many tens of thousands of lives.
