Kennedy Successfully Tilts at Windmills

It looks like a wind farm project in Nantucket Sound is going to be killed, thanks in part to the powerful Massachusetts Senator known as Chappaquiddick Ted.

The project would call for 130 wind turbines to be erected near the resort islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Due to the strong and consistent winds in the area, these windmills could generate over 400 megawatts, enough for 400,000 homes on Cape Code and nearby islands.

But the turbines would be planted in Pumpkinhead Ted's favorite yachting grounds, and on a clear day could even be visible from the Kennedy compound six miles away in Hyannisport — thus the opposition.

That's okay, there are other ways to generate energy. Too bad Kennedy opposes them. A few lowlights from his voting record:

  • Voted YES on disallowing an oil leasing program in Alaska's ANWR. (Nov 2005)
  • Voted YES on reducing oil usage by 40% by 2025 (instead of 5%). (Jun 2005)
  • Voted YES on banning drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. (Mar 2005)
  • Voted NO on Bush Administration Energy Policy. (Jul 2003)
  • Voted YES on removing consideration of drilling ANWR from budget bill. (Mar 2003)
  • Voted NO on drilling ANWR on national security grounds. (Apr 2002)
  • Voted NO on preserving budget for ANWR oil drilling. (Apr 2000)
  • Voted NO on approving a nuclear waste repository. (Apr 1997)

Fortunately that still leaves the pixie dust Kennedy uses to power his limousines.

So, will Teddy Poo have to pay higher energy bills now? How about the voters? Oh, and those cherished alternative energy sources for which all liberals whine?

You'd think that his constituents might be a bit concerned that their Senior Senator is putting *omagosh* his own interests above theirs.

Nice list of choice Teddy votes too, btw.

No, MaryHunter, with all his hot air I imagine he heats his house quite well. As for the Democrats in Massachusetts, they're zombies who'll vote for him no matter what.

How can one state give us TWO great senators, Kennedy and Kerry?

So then my new design for a car that runs on baby seals and spotted owl feathers is out of the question then?

If you designed a car that ran on spotted owl feathers, and which was cheaper than oil, you can virtually guatantee that the spotted owl will become the most numerous bird in the entire world because of all the breeding programs that would be created to produce more feathers.

As a comparison; we slaughter millions of cows every year for food, but they certainly aren't in danger of extinction.
