CBS News Keeps Searching for the Bottom

Don't let the antics of the pathetically delusional Mary Mapes distract you from the lunatics who haven't yet been canned from the network that gave us both the tinfoil-hat–wearing Walter Cronkite and the propagandizing buffoon known simply as the Dan. NewsBusters reports on a milestone in tastelessness achieved by Bruce Rheins, the producer behind CBS's coverage of the Michael Jackson trial, who has marketed a wine under the brand "Jesus Juice." The logo apparently represents a cross between Jesus Christ and Michael Jackson.

As you'll recall, "Jesus Juice" is allegedly what the King of Pop called the wine he plied little kids with before raping them.

Rheins' wife got the marketing campaign running while Jackson's child molestation case was still in court. They made Jesus Juice t-shirts and other items too. As NewsBusters observes:

Rheins's marketing of Jesus Juice wine (and apparel) raises some troubling journalistic issues since he was attempting to profit from a story which he was personally covering for the "CBS Evening News."

Once word of Rheins' assault on professionalism — not to mention taste — began to circulate, he went into backpedaling mode. The Jesus Juice merchandise is now gone from his and his wife's websites. Explains Rheins:

My wife and I are hobby winemakers. We made a few bottles for friends. We never wanted to sell it. We only trademarked it because we didn't want other people to try to make money off it.

Yet Rheins had been selling all sorts of Jesus Juice junk on CafePress.com, including wall clocks and coffee mugs. Yes, this is the same CafePress.com that censored t-shirts that were insufficiently respectful toward the bloodthirsty sociopath Che Guevara.

Where do you suppose Christians get the idea that the liberal Democrats running the news media have no respect for their religion? At least we can be thankful that for the most part, Christianity is only ridiculed; people don't get 3-year jail terms for passing out Bibles like they do in communist China.

You ever find yourself hoping that fundies are right, and some people are due for a good long roast in the lake of fire?

I expect to see massive rioting with many deaths by offended Christians. That's how you're supposed to react when someone offends your religion, right?

I personally am going to chop someone's head off and send the video to all the major christian broadcasting networks, along with a voice-over denouncing... something...

Don't forget to dub some kind of Christian music in the background to make it more official and ominous.

And open teh video with some symbol that will be recognizable as a sign of your jiha...er, what do you call it?
