USA Team Plays at Home in Front of Hostile Foreign Crowd

Posted by Dave Blount at June 27, 2011 11:00 AM

Writing for the Los Angeles Times means putting smiley-faced spin on anything politically correct — even the US soccer team facing an obnoxiously hostile crowd on what is still technically American territory:

On a balmy early Saturday summer evening, the U.S soccer team played for a prestigious championship in a U.S. stadium … and was smothered in boos.
Its fans were vastly outnumbered. Its goalkeeper was bathed in a chanted obscenity. Even its national anthem was filled with the blowing of air horns and bouncing of beach balls.
Most of these hostile visitors didn't live in another country. Most, in fact, were not visitors at all, many of them being U.S. residents whose lives are here but whose sporting souls remain elsewhere.

The USA was the visiting team in its own country because it was playing Mexico in Reconquista-ravaged southern California.

"Obviously ... the support that Mexico has on the night like tonight makes it a home game for them," said U.S. Coach Bob Bradley, choosing his words carefully. "It's part of something we have to deal with on the night."

Bill Plaschke of La Times had to choose his words carefully too, to make the growing multiculti discord that is beginning to tear the country apart sound like a good thing:

How many places are so diverse that it could fill football stadiums with folks whose roots are somewhere else? How many places offer such a freedom of speech that someone can display an American flag on their porch one day and cheer against the flag the next?

Every day is the 4th of July in the barrio, with Old Glory flying from the porches.

I hated it, but I loved it. I was felt as if I was in a strange place, and yet I felt right at home.
Certainly, for the U.S. team, it undoubtedly stinks. But then, well, to be honest, the team stinks.

He sums up the appalling scene as "messy, and mangled, and beautiful."

The first two words describe the chaos that is beginning to unfold. The last one doesn't.

"...many of them being U.S. residents whose lives are here..."

Residents, not citizens...New code words to describe illegal aliens ???

Just what America always needed; TWO angry/greivance obssessed minority classes that refuse to acknowledge themselves as American and live by the mantra of "my race and what I want first". Thanks Teddy K! Thanks Obama!

Who cares? It's not like this was an American sport.

Hale, I think you've rather missed the point.

Obviously the people commenting here so far don't live in L.A.

Now by hell and by GOD you listen up. We've got 75 percent of a county...a very very LARGE county...that hate the U.S., whose allegiance is to a foreign country, who refuse to assimilate, who game the system, breed like flies and who (to put it kindly) dislike white people.

We have tens of thousands of gang members. Those gang members have parents and brothers and sisters and uncles and cousins. Do they turn them in? Do they lift ONE GODDAMN FINGER to stop them? NO! But OOOOH MY, all the weeping and bullshit when some 9 year old gets caught in the crossfire.

No, we're in a war...a fight for our lives and culture...and guess what? Every time some bleeding heart progressive yells "racist" they are helping KILL YOU. KILL YOUR KIDS. KILL YOUR CULTURE AND WAY OF LIFE. Rest assured the Mexicans ain't gonna give up their culture. THEY can be racist. THEY can murder. THEY can take over AND WE HAVE TO SAY "THANK YOU".

Wise up in your town before it becomes So Cal. We must fight back against all these "one way" discrimination and "hate crime" laws. THEY ONLY APPLY TO WHITE PEOPLE.

This is when imbedded agents go to the Mexican cheerleaders and ask to see their green cards. ROFL Boy to be sitting there with a USCIS badge. I'll bet I could singlehandedly empty out that entire arena.

Posted by: AndyPandy at June 27, 2011 12:49 PM

Do you know what kind of people fly a flag belonging to another country while physically located inside the borders of a different country? Invaders. Think medieval warfare for a sec, you take the other guys castle and you claim it as yours by raising your flag over it.
Not a huge philosophical difference between cheering for a foreign team over the one of the host country.

This isn't new - it happens every time US plays Mexico in LA - has for years and years. The US gave up sovereignty over LA decades ago. They're letting the blacks and hispanics duke it out.

LA, as with Detroit, Peoria, and most other liberal enclaves of immorality, where it is against the law to hold a minority responsible for their actions, aren't worth saving.

Ahhhh... smell the rotting fruits of liberalism? It's the odor of the dead. Pretty much makes you want to puke, huh?

Soccer is lefty, gay, and un-American. One reason lefties love it is because it requires no prosperity - just a ball and a third world dirt patch. Another is because it is the antithesis of mom, apple pie, and baseball.

I wondered how it would work out for moonbats to embrace a sport like soccer that fosters strong nationalism within its various host countries. Now I know - lefties with US citizenship (can't really call them Americans) end up supporting the nationalism of other nations. On American soil.

I'm equally offended by anyone playing soccer for any reason at the Rose Bowl.

Soccer is a gentleman's game played by thugs.

Rugby is a thug's game played by gentlemen.

why is it that moonbats that post here are called anonymous? oh I know why, they don't want to be found and rode out on a rail.

All the billboards in English out here in this former paradise known as Southern California are quickly being replaced with rat people language, so if you're an American, you can''t read anything anymore. Advertisers aren't even trying to sell their products to Americans anymore because the rat people have outnumbered us and they've got gringo's money in the form of WIC and EBT cards.

If you're an American: Obey the law or pay up the ass until you can't feed your family.

If you're a rat man: No license? No registration? No insurance? No problem, senior! You get to go to the front of the line because you need an interpreter.

Sure glad soccer is such a gay, girlie sport. Otherwise, I might have watched it and got angry.

I am not a moonbat, but I do like soccer. In high school I played soccer at a high level and it was more demanding than football. Likewise my daughter currently plays and it is far more demanding than volleyball or basketball. That having been said it may be a favorite sport of the loony left, but then again so is sex and I'll bet most of us enjoy that. I am not defending lefties in any way, but demeaning a sport that requires skill, stamina, speed, accuracy and the ability to make lightening fast decisions is infantile.

The truth is the US national team has been treated HORRIBLY in many Latin American countries FOR YEARS. Often, they are pelted with ziplok bags filled with urine as they enter the arenas.

This is a reflection of the SCUMBAGS that inhabit these countries. Did you forget Calderone's visit to Congress? Then how would you expect the riif-raff from meheeko to act?!

They all come here for FREE EVERYTHING because they can. You all know who is responsible for that and what it would take to change it.

PS Mexico actually has a good team. G DosSantos is one of the best strikers playing today.

To Anon who says I'm in "rare, paranoid form" (and who I'm assuming is white), c'mon out to So Cal. Let's go to the barrio about one in the morning and you can explain to the vato that's ready to cut your face open about "hate crime" stats.

F*ckin' progressives. They live in a little room with statistics and talking points. If they ever met REAL life face to face......well, it wouldn't be pretty.

What a pendejo!

It's time to wall of Mexifornia a la Escape from LA. It's also time to make the US/Mexican border a free fire zone.

I cant believe it. its one thing to cheer on your country of origin, it's beyond disgusting to disparage another. Visiting country teams here in Oz get cheered by locals and visitors respect and stand for our anthem.
My God, what has happened to you?
You are so indifferent that you sidetrack into the merits about soccer.
