Media Sycophant: Obama Stammers Because He Is a Genius

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:27 PM

The Obamunist media has its work cut out for it, trying to prop up the misperception that the garden variety left-wing punk it installed in the White House is actually a great thinker. This becomes especially difficult when he isn't reading someone else's thoughts off a teleprompter. Meghan Daum of La Times offers her best effort:

It's not that Obama can't speak clearly. It's that he employs the intellectual stammer. Not to be confused with a stutter, which the president decidedly does not have, the intellectual stammer signals a brain that is moving so fast that the mouth can't keep up. The stammer is commonly found among university professors, characters in Woody Allen movies and public thinkers of the sort that might appear on C-SPAN but not CNN. …
Obama's problem is not that he's an intellectual (for the sake of argument let's define it as someone who is scholarly, broadly informed and distinguished as a thinker). It's that he sounds like an intellectual. Unlike other presumed political brainiacs — Bill Clinton or Newt Gingrich, for example — he isn't able to bury his ideas behind a folksy regional accent or good-old-boy affectations when he wants to.

Or even to stop stammering. Ms. Dumb admits that he occasionally tries to talk like a black guy who didn't grow up with a silver coke spoon up his nose — and fails.

By speaking as though he hails from everywhere, he ends up being from nowhere. The result is that people look at him and see not a Hawaiian or a Chicagoan or even a black man, but a university man.

That is, a pointy-headed, out of touch elitist like those who put the turtle on his post. But back to the stammering:

Of course, the president enables that stigma by stammering his way through town hall meetings and other public dialogues as though they were philosophy lectures. Irritating? Sure. But inarticulate? Sorry, folks, but you'll have to find another adjective.

Okay, how about one of these: faltering, maundering, unintelligible, tongue-tied, disjointed, confused, flummoxed, incoherent, clueless, witless, muddled, flabbergasted…

The One exhibits his philosophical collegiate intellectualisticness.

Teenage Girl Stoned to Death by Muslims in Ukraine

Posted by Dave Blount at 3:15 PM

Let's check in with the Religion of Peace, to see if it's still stuck in the Stone Age:

A teenage Muslim girl was stoned to death under 'Sharia law' after taking part in a beauty contest in Ukraine.
Katya Koren, 19, was found dead in a village in the Crimea region near her home.
Friends said she liked wearing fashionable clothes and had come seventh in a beauty contest.
Her battered body was buried in a forest and was found a week after she disappeared.
Police have opened a murder investigation and are looking into claims that three Muslim youths killed her, claiming her death was justified under Islam.
One of the three - named as 16-year-old Bihal Gaziev - is under arrest and told police that Katya had 'violated the laws of Sharia'. Gaziev has said he has no regrets about her death.

Still stuck, all right — just as our rulers are still stuck on insisting we regard this savage cult as a legitimate religion.

Churched Fined $100 per Branch for Pruning Trees

Posted by Dave Blount at 1:18 PM

Communism is a totalitarian system under which there is no liberty whatsoever because there is no private property. Here's an example of how an authoritarian regime might use the absence of property rights to put the screws to disapproved activities like Christian worship:

Every two to three years, Eddie Sales trims and prunes the crape myrtles at his church, Albemarle Road Presbyterian Church.
But this year, the city of Charlotte cited the church for improperly pruning its trees.
"We always keep our trees trimmed back because you don't want to worry about them hanging down in the way," said Sales, a church member.
The church was fined $100 per branch cut for excessive pruning, bringing the violation to $4,000.
"I just couldn't believe it when I heard about it," Sales said. "We trim our trees back every three years all over our property, and this is the first time we have been fined."
The fine will be dropped if the church replaces each of the improperly pruned trees, said Tom Johnson, senior urban forester for city of Charlotte Land Development Division.

Sounds like a local nursery made a wise political donation.

This is how someone who needs to trim a tree can stay in Big Brother's good graces:

Individuals who would like to trim their trees should call the city foresters to receive a free permit to conduct the landscape work.

Free? How generous. I wonder how long that will last.

Foresters will then meet with the person receiving the permit and give instructions on how to properly trim their trees, Johnson said.
The state Division of Forestry recommends that anyone trimming trees should be certified by the National Horticulture Board, but certification is not required to receive a permit.

Yet. Before long you'll have to belong to the National Manicure Board to get a permit to trim your own toenails.

In a free country, it would be none of the government's business how a church pruned its trees, because the trees would belong to the church. But in the USSA, they belong to the government, like everything else. Otherwise how could bureaucrats dictate how they must be pruned?

Why Sesame Street Needs to Be Government Subsidized

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:51 AM

Why is it so important to moonbats that kiddy shows like Sesame Street be coercively financed and government controlled via the Corporation for Public Broadcasting? So they can install their ideology in impressionable minds by pushing television's liberal bias into overdrive:

Sesame Street has previously been accused of being left wing. In 2009 an episode mocked Fox News. The segment showed the character of Oscar as a reporter for the Grouch News Network and had a viewer telling him: "From now on I am watching 'Pox' News. Now there is a trashy news show."

More on Sesame Street's one-way route to indoctrination:

[Primetime Propaganda author Ben] Shapiro quotes Mike Dann, one of Sesame Street's founding executives, saying it "was not made for the sophisticated or the middle class." Using the premise, the team worked in all sorts of messages, including Grover breaking bread with a hippie and Oscar the grouch who was supposed to address "conflicts arising from racial and ethnic diversity." Dann also admitted he used the program in the wake of 9/11 to highlight peaceful alternatives to war.
"Sesame Street tried to tackle divorce, tackled 'peaceful conflict resolution' in the aftermath of 9/11 and had [gay actor] Neil Patrick Harris on the show playing the subtly-named 'fairy shoeperson'," writes Shapiro, according to THR.
The news may not be surprising considering the left's recent use of the show's cuddly character, Elmo. The furry, red puppet has been used to trumpet free internet, lament job loss, and even plug Michelle Obama's child nutrition bill.

It's bad enough that at least 95% of television programming has a pernicious left-wing bias. That people who don't even own televisions should be compelled to pay for it is intolerable.

More on the Money Sent Down the National Science Foundation Rat Hole

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:20 AM

As the country careens toward bankruptcy, stratospheric taxes and a $14 trillion debt smother the economy, and hyperinflation threatens to wipe out our savings due to Big Government printing increasingly worthless currency to cover its never-ending spending binge, the National Science Foundation provides examples of what our liberal rulers have been trading our future for:

• $80,000 study on why the same teams always dominate March Madness;
• $315,000 study suggesting playing FarmVille on Facebook helps adults develop and maintain relationships;
• $1 million for an analysis of how quickly parents respond to trendy baby names;
• $50,000 to produce and publicize amateur songs about science, including a rap called "Money 4 Drugz," and a misleading song titled "Biogas is a Gas, Gas, Gas";
• $2 million to figure out that people who often post pictures on the internet from the same location at the same time are usually friends; and
• $581,000 on whether online dating site users are racist.

Then there is the mismanagement:

• Hundreds of millions of dollars lost to ineffective contracting;
• $1.7 billion in unspent funds sitting in expired, undisbursed grant accounts;
• At least $3 million in excessive travel funds;
• A lack of accountability or program metrics to evaluate expenditures;
• Inappropriate staff behavior including porn surfing and Jello wrestling and skinny-dipping at NSF-operated facilities in Antarctica.

Much of the lunacy is duplicated by others among the 15 federal departments, 12 independent agencies, and 72 subagencies that perform R&D for Big Government.

Don't be too sure that a private company would never waste money so irresponsibly. Under Obamanomics, making a profit is no longer necessary or even desirable, so long as you have pull in Washington. The more incompetent the management, the bigger the bailout.

Weather Clown Bill Nye Claims Global Warming Caused Tornadoes

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:55 AM

It wasn't easy, but Bill Nye "The Science Guy" has managed to exploit the death and destruction caused by tornadoes recently by blaming them on the discredited global warming hoax during an appearance on Fox News.

"Well, it is very difficult to connect tornado to climate change," Nye said. "They are small evens relative to the other big picture. But I will tell you this — last 11 years are the warmest 11 years on record, since the 1800s. And there is 4 percent more water vapor in the atmosphere than has been in the past. … When you get that much extra heat and water vapor in the air, you are going to have more storms."

Where does Bill Lie come up with "facts" like the last 11 years being the 11 warmest on record? Ask his proctologist.

"Notice that the floods that are probably connected to the tornadoes," he said. "These floods — there is no Katrina or Rita, it just rain rained. When water vapor changed from a liquid to a vapor it gives up heat high in the atmosphere, or medium height in the atmosphere. And that heat up there makes it churn up more and that leads to more storms. Now, people have talked about this for years and everybody, this is serious business. The tornado is very difficult to mathematically connect to climate change. But the rains and extra warmth in the atmosphere, the extra water in the atmosphere, those are the facts. That's the real deal."

Just as Joke Biden announced that it is patriotic to pay higher taxes, Lie proclaims that patriotic Americans will want to take the lead in combating the imaginary global warming crisis if they don't want to be punished with more tornadoes.

Rupert Murdoch told us he would use his media holdings to propagandize on behalf of the global warming farce. Bill Nye's clownish presence on Fox News suggests that he meant it.

Moonbat Tech: Pedal Power

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:27 AM

Now that Germany has turned its back on modern technology by renouncing nuclear energy, it will need an alternative. Germans certainly won't want to molest the polar bears by falling back on fossil fuels. Fortunately, there is pedal power.

If we boost the research on pedal powered technology - trying to make up for seven decades of lost opportunities - and steer it in the right direction, pedals and cranks could make an important contribution to running a post-carbon society that maintains many of the comforts of a modern life. The possibilities of pedal power largely exceed the use of the bicycle.
One way to solve the large energy losses of pedal power generators is not to produce electricity at all but power devices mechanically, whenever possible.

An example is the Fender Blender:

Other pedal-powered devices include "water pumps, grinders, threshers, tile makers, nut shellers, washing machines and blenders," not to mention washing machines, soap blenders, and apple grinders. Admittedly there is a downside:

One obvious disadvantage of designing a pedal powered machine for every application in the household, farm or workshop is that you need a lot of space. Furthermore, designing a pedal power unit for every tool might become labour-intensive, costly and energy-intensive.

No kidding. But not to worry — moonbat scientists have invented the Dynapod:

The Dynapod could drive pumps, corn grinders, winnowing machines, forge blowers, grinding machines, drilling machines, potter's wheels, paint sprayers, crop dusting equipment, cassave graters, coffee pulpers, grain hullers, fibre decorticators, threshers, balers, band saws, tire pumps and sewing machines.

We will still need some electricity, to light up the toxic mercury-filled curlicue light bulbs Big Government is mandating. That's where pedal power plants come in:

Who needs nuclear energy or fossil fuels? With a global edict imposing pedal power on all activities, the carbon era will be behind us forever.

Now Chocolate Is Racist

Posted by Dave Blount at 2:39 PM

Anyone who thought that electing someone president mainly on the basis of being part black would end the constant caterwauling from perpetually aggrieved persons of politically correct lineage was sorely mistaken. Even a zillionaire socialist supermodel like Naomi Campbell can still fall prey to racist chocolate:

Campbell revealed she is considering "every option available" after Cadbury, owned by the US giant Kraft, refused to pull the ad campaign, which ran in newspapers last week: "I am shocked. It's upsetting to be described as chocolate, not just for me, but for all black women and black people. I do not find any humour in this. It is insulting and hurtful."
The model's mother, Valerie Morris, backed her daughter, saying: "I'm deeply upset by this racist advert. Do these people think they can insult black people and we just take it? This is the 21st century, not the 1950s. Shame on Cadbury."
Disgust at the ad prompted members of the public to complain to the campaign group Operation Black Vote (OBV), which has called for Cadbury to apologise. OBV's Simon Woolley said that without an apology, the "only recourse black people have is not to buy its chocolate". He has written to the American civil rights activists Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to ask them to mobilise the country's Afro-American population. "I want them to know what their parent company is doing in Europe. I've asked them to support us."

The completely innocuous ad apparently didn't even run in this country. Nor is it still running:

A spokesperson for Cadbury insisted that the campaign was "a light-hearted take on the social pretensions of Cadbury Dairy Milk Bliss". He added later, however, that the campaign was "no longer in circulation… we have no plans to repeat the campaign."

Cadbury can thank Ms. Campbell for confirming that she really is a prima donna. We can thank Cadbury for not issuing the standard obsequious apology.

If we keep moving, they'll keep pushing. There is literally nothing too absurd for grievance mongers to refrain from being offended over as a means of bullying the rest of us.

Enough already.

Religious Freedom Lives to See Another Memorial Day in Houston

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:58 AM

Excellent news on Memorial Day: VA bureauweenies have dropped demands that ministers keep references to Christianity out of their prayers.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Fred Hindrichs told federal District Judge Lynn Hughes that the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs will not demand that Memorial Day prayers at Houston National Cemetery Monday be as non-denominational as possible.

The term non-denominational used to mean not specifically Protestant or Catholic. Now it means purged of anything that might remind our left-wing lawyer overlords of the Christian faith. But for this Memorial Day, Christianity is not officially banned.

"(The agency) will let the prayer go on this Monday," Hindrichs told Hughes.
The change of heart came one day after the judge granted the Rev. Scott Rainey a temporary restraining order against the agency after officials told the pastor to edit his prayer to make it as general and non-denominational as possible. Rainey's prayer, submitted for review at the agency's request included the recitation of the Lord's Prayer and thanked Jesus Christ, the Christian savior, in closing.

This victory for religious freedom didn't come without a fight.

Rainey filed a lawsuit against the agency Thursday, claiming the government was censoring his speech and asked the judge to stop the agency from doing so.

What's left of our liberty will be snuffed out the instant we let liberals get away with it. Those we remember today did their duty overseas; we owe it to their memories to hold up our end here at home, so that their sacrifices will not be in vain.

Un-non-denominational crosses.

Obama Finally Makes It to Joplin

It was thoughtful of the Moonbat Messiah to only take a week to get around to visiting the devastation in Joplin. But couldn't he have refrained from disrespectfully chomping on gum during the memorial service?

Georgetown Denizens Sign Petition to Ban Conservative Sites

Remember the college students (and apparently faculty) who were filmed signing a petition to ban conservatives from TV and radio, even while mouthing platitudes in support of the First Amendment? It wasn't a fluke. Who do you suppose would sign something like this:

Nobel Laureate Denounces Freedom of Information on Behalf of Global Warming Hoax

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:36 PM

This tells you all you need to know about a scientific establishment utterly corrupted by government money and liberal elite moonbattery: a Nobel laureate wants freedom of information laws repealed because they inconvenience global warming hoaxers.

Freedom of information laws are being misused to harass scientists and should be re-examined by the government, according to the president of the Royal Society.
Nobel laureate Sir Paul Nurse told the Guardian that some climate scientists were being targeted by organised campaigns of requests for data and other research materials, aimed at intimidating them and slowing down research.

The result, according to Sir Wetnurse, "is that senior people in government and senior scientists close to government are basically just using the telephone again" rather than using emails, which if made public could reveal that they have been colluding in deliberate misinformation.

Educrats Ban the Color White

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:17 AM

Short of making Caucasians into soap and lampshades, it's hard to see how politically correct educrats could take their absurd ideology any further than a California high school has by suspending students for wearing white clothes:

Soquel High Senior Mikey Donnelly wore a white t-shirt for his senior class photo Tuesday. About 10 of his friends did the same. That decision may seem harmless. But Soquel High suspended Donnelly for three days because of it.
Donnelly said the school told him people were offended and intimidated by his group, claiming they're a white supremacist gang.

Not all of the alleged white supremacists are even white.

"I feel disrespected," says Soquel High Senior David Mine.
Mine also wore a white t-shirt and was also suspended. He's missing out on finals and that could jeopardize his graduation.
"I'm Asian," says Mine. "I don't see how I can be a white supremacist."

As for the educrats in charge:

Soquel High Principal Ken Lawrence-Emanuel was very tight-lipped about it, saying students' punishments are confidential. But told me the school got several complaints about a white pride group on campus.
"Safety is always first at Soquel High," says Lawrence-Emanuel. "We want to make sure we do everything we can to keep people from feeling and being safe on campus."

If that's what he really said, Lawrence-Hyphen-Emanuel has been doing a bang-up job. Students will feel and be anything but safe on a campus run by authoritarian lunatics.

Educrats have no problem with black supremacists or militantly racist La Raza types. But as the wise say: it isn't about race, it's about culture. Obliterating ours and replacing it with something oppressive and insane is the duty of public schools.

As Country Goes Broke, National Science Foundation Wastes Fortunes on Absurdities

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:10 AM

Even as taxes and debt choke the economy, and our savings are inflated toward oblivion by government printing presses churning out increasingly worthless currency to pay the bills, our liberal overlords continue to spend in a frenzy. Since they regard spending other people's money as an end in itself, minds that in a free country might be applied toward scientific achievement are instead devoted to finding ever more creative ways to waste our wealth at the execrable National Science Foundation:

The Senate's top waste watcher, in a new report Thursday, said taxpayer money has gone to funding jello wrestling in the Antarctic, to testing the exercise ability of shrimp on a treadmill and to a laundry-folding robot — all funded by the National Science Foundation.
Sen. Tom Coburn, Oklahoma Republican, said he identified more than $3 billion in mismanagement at NSF, ranging from questionable studies to exorbitant operating costs, and in some cases the agency duplicates the operations of other agencies. …
"There is little, if any, obvious scientific benefit to some NSF projects, such as a YouTube rap video, a review of event ticket prices on, a 'robot hoedown and rodeo,' or a virtual recreation of the 1964/65 New York World's Fair," Mr. Coburn wrote to taxpayers in introducing the 73-page report, which has more than 350 footnotes. …
Mr. Coburn, in his report, said audits of NSF show it regularly fails to meet management goals. One audit, from 2005, found almost half of the reports the agency is required to file were either submitted either late, or never submitted.
The senator has clashed with NSF before. In 2009, he wrote legislation to eliminate NSF's funding for political science research, arguing that political commentary is available for free on cable news networks already.

Someone get that news to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. But at least the NSF doesn't have PBS and NPR to inflict its political "science" on the public who pays for it.

Readers of the prophetic Atlas Shrugged will recall that possibly the novel's worst villain is Robert Stadler, the once great scientist who is reviled by all the positive characters for selling out to become head of the State Science Institute. In the end he is killed by an evil population-control device that was created in his formerly illustrious name. But at least he stays out of the Jell-O.

Barney Frank Admits He Helped Pervert Sex Partner Into Fannie Mae Post

Posted by Dave Blount at 2:02 PM

I wonder if this is what Nancy Pelosi had in mind when she used to shriek about a culture of corruption:

U.S. Rep. Barney Frank admitted he helped his [homosexual] ex-lover land a lucrative post with Fannie Mae in the early 1990s while the Newton Democrat was on a committee that regulated the lending giant — but he called questions of a potential ethical conflict "nonsense." …
Frank said he helped his former longtime companion, Herb Moses, land a job at Fannie Mae in 1991 after Moses graduated with a master's degree in business administration from Dartmouth College.

Moses lived with Frank in the District of Criminals at the time.

Readers will recall that the collapse of the bloated government-sponsored enterprise Fannie Mae was key to setting off the financial collapse of 2008, from which we still haven't recovered, and if Democrats have their way, never will.

Even New York Slimes reporters can smell the decomposing rat:

Frank's assistance in helping Moses land the job was first reported in a new book about the fiscal meltdown by Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times [NYT] reporter Gretchen Morgensen.
In an interview Tuesday on WBUR's "Fresh Air," Morgensen said Frank "was very aggressive and really tough on those who were testifying in Congress about reining in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac" during hearings after Moses was hired. She said Fannie Mae "rolled out the red carpet" for Moses as part of a strategy to curry favor with Frank and other members of the Financial Services Committee.
Morgensen also noted that members of the committee raked in tens of thousands in campaign donations from Fannie and Freddie execs, including Frank, who received $42,000 in contributions from 1989 through 2008.
Frank denied he turned a blind eye to Fannie until after the 2008 mortgage meltdown. He says he criticized the Bush administration's policies on government-backed lenders in 2004 and backed legislation to deal with lending concerns in 2006 but was thwarted by the GOP-controlled Congress.

As usual, reality is the diametric opposite of what Demorrhoids tell us. Bush and McCain both tried to rein in Fannie and Freddie to prevent the meltdown; Bonnie Fwank was instrumental in stopping them:

New York Times Denounces Cap on Stratospheric Property Taxes

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:21 AM

If you doubt that liberals are actually communists, ask yourself at what point they would stop raising taxes. The answer is never, as the New York Times confirms by denouncing a cap on the astronomical property taxes that have driven Yours Truly and many thousands of others out of the Empire State. Not even Andrew Cuomo — who helped bring on the 2008 collapse by forcing banks to make race-based loans — is pushing the Fabian socialist envelope fast enough to suit the agenda-setters at the Slimes.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature have already adopted a state budget that drastically cuts funds to schools and local communities — cuts that were far deeper than needed to balance the budget because of Mr. Cuomo's indefensible refusal to extend a tax surcharge on New York's wealthiest residents. Now they want to adopt a cheap political tool — a 2 percent property tax cap — that would only further devastate communities around the state that can least afford it.

Only by the bizarre antilogic of the liberal intelligentsia does desperately needed tax relief "devastate communities." Cuomo is denounced for lacking "the courage to argue the case for more taxes," without which some towns might have to close senior centers.

Meanwhile, back in reality, bankruptcy is looming. A lefty like Cuomo would not be talking about tax caps if the state of the state weren't dire.

Soap Ad Commits Thought Crime

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:26 AM

Totalitarian political correctness has burrowed so deeply into self-parody that liberals soiled themselves over this ad:

Mail Online reports that "critics are in a lather over the ad, accusing Dove of implied — and albeit unintentional — racism."

According to Dove,

'All three women are intended to demonstrate the "after" product benefit. We do not condone any activity or imagery that intentionally insults any audience.'

However, racism doesn't have to be actual; it only has to be perceived. With a little practice, moonbats can perceive it almost everywhere.

Fortunately Dove is off the hook, because Sad Hill News has politically corrected the ad:

Obama Boasts He Is Destroying Second Amendment "Under the Radar"

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:24 AM

The statist agenda has never been achieved until the public has been disarmed, because in the end, anyone worthy of being called human will rebel against socialism. Like other aspects of Obamunism so radical as to provoke open revolt, the campaign to repeal the crucial Second Amendment is going "under the radar" — to quote the Manchurian Moonbat himself:

On March 30, the 30th anniversary of the assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan, Jim Brady, who sustained a debilitating head wound in the attack, and his wife, Sarah, came to Capitol Hill to push for a ban on the controversial "large magazines." Brady, for whom the law requiring background checks on handgun purchasers is named, then met with White House press secretary Jay Carney. During the meeting, President Obama dropped in and, according to Sarah Brady, brought up the issue of gun control, "to fill us in that it was very much on his agenda," she said.
"I just want you to know that we are working on it," Brady recalled the president telling them. "We have to go through a few processes, but under the radar."

These "processes" will be regulatory, imposed by faceless, unelected apparatchiks and ignored by the complicit media. That's how freedom is killed: quietly, gradually, furtively.

Obama Regime Threatens to Cut Off Texas Air Traffic

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:01 AM

Remember when moonbats promised us that Barack Hussein Obama would unite the country? Instead, he has virtually declared war on any part of it unlikely to support his collectivist agenda, siding with a hostile foreign power against Arizona, preventing Boeing from building planes in South Carolina, giving wildfire aid to Mexico while denying it to Texas, and now threatening to turn Texas into a no fly zone:

Lobbying against pending legislation in the Texas legislature which would criminalize any searches conducted without probable cause, U.S. Attorney John E. Murphy sent a letter to a few high-ranking members of Texas' government warning against promoting the bill and threatening a complete closure of all flights to and from the state.
"If HR [sic] 1937 were enacted, the federal government would likely seek an emergency stay of the statute," Murphy wrote. "Unless or until such a stay were granted, TSA would likely be required to cancel any flight or series of flights for which it could not ensure the safety of passengers and crew."
No doubt written with the threatening intent one reads into it, Murphy added: "We urge that you consider the ramifications of this bill before casting your vote."
Previous to the federal government's threat, the Texas legislature had considered the ramifications of the bill. More importantly, they were responding to a clear need to uphold the Fourth Amendment and ensure that each person enjoys the right "to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures" — a right which the U.S. Constitution mandates "shall not be violated."

Behind the happy-face facade propped up by the media that installed it in power, the Obama Regime has been taking its Chicago-style single-party politics to extremes of treacherous thuggery that real Americans are unlikely to tolerate indefinitely. People in "Flyover Country" are catching on that the federal leviathan is not our friend. When Texans are asked to bail out insolvent blue states like California and Illinois, which clearly have no intention of getting their profligate spending under control, we're going to get less united still.

How to Shop for Donuts in Fundamentally Transformed America

Posted by Dave Blount at 3:04 PM

As America consigns itself to a slide toward savagery in the name of Hope & Change, store owners are afraid to talk to reporters lest their businesses be targeted by flash mobs of feral youths:

Security footage from a Manhattan Dunkin' Donuts shows a group of youths climbing on counters, throwing chairs and throwing tables in a violent attack on workers.
It happened at the Dunkin' Donuts on Christopher Street in Greenwich Village. A $2,000 hot chocolate machine was reportedly destroyed in the attack.
Similar attacks have targeted other stores in the neighborhood in the previous weeks.
The video shows one of the teens throwing a chair and then running up to grab a donut.
A few of the attackers also grabbed drinks out of a refrigerator near the door, and they all quickly ran from the store.
Some businesses and even residents recently have complained about violence in the area. Most of the business owners didn't want to give their names for fear of retribution.

The alternative to civilization is constant fear. Liberals have tricked us into turning our backs on civilization, so get used to being afraid.

Speaking of fear, the one transgression that is still punished effectively is thought crime, so be sure not to think anything racist about these occurrences. Gateway Pundit issues a warning:

Apparently, it's racist to note that all of the youths involved in the attack were black just like the flashmob that attacked the Milwaukee Mayfair Mall in January, the mob that attacked a Dupont Circle store in Washington DC in April, and the flashmob that ransacked a Las Vegas convenience store in early May.

The Frankenstein monster of perpetually aggrieved blacks who have been brainwashed into considering themselves entitled to anything and everything is breaking loose from the liberal social engineering laboratory. Since it's racist to examine the nature of these crimes, don't expect to see them solved, much less prevented.

Oil-Rich Venezuela Suffers From Energy Crisis

As the great countermoonbat Milton Friedman observed,

"If you put the federal government in charge of the Sahara Desert, in 5 years there'd be a shortage of sand."

What would happen if you put a socialist of similar stripe in charge of Venezuela, a founding member of OPEC that is floating on oil? Naturally, the result would be an energy shortage:

Venezuela will ration power again this year, planning steps similar to those taken in 2010 amid an energy crisis, Electricity Minister Ali Rodriguez said.
"We're going to reapply the measures we applied in Caracas last year nationwide, which punishes the wasting of electricity and encourages energy savings," Rodriguez said in an interview on state television….

Obama's Tornado Math

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:13 AM

Ignoring the death and devastation in the Heartland so that he can make a pageant of his ineptitude in Britain is especially objectionable when you consider Comrade Obama's own math when it comes to tornadoes. Remember this 2007 story?

Barack Obama, caught up in the fervor of a campaign speech Tuesday, drastically overstated the Kansas tornadoes death toll, saying 10,000 had died.
The death toll was 12.
"In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died — an entire town destroyed," the Democratic presidential candidate said in a speech to 500 people packed into a sweltering Richmond art studio for a fundraiser.
Obama mentioned the disaster in Greensburg, Kan., in saying he had been told by the office of Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius that the state's National Guard had been depleted by its commitment to the Iraq War. …
During his speech, Obama stirred the crowd as he often does by skewering President Bush over the unpopular war and noting that he opposed it from the outset.

That was back when Obama opposed war in the Middle East. Since then he has kept the old ones going and started a new war in Libya, for reasons he hasn't deigned to share with us.

Let's do the math. If 10 deaths equal 10,000, then 125 deaths (so far in Joplin alone) equal 125,000 — the equivalent of every man, woman, and child in Hartford, Connecticut. Isn't there something a president should be doing other than adopting a phony accent, botching toasts, and writing the wrong year in guest books on the other side of the world?

Recall that W was skewered for not immediately flying into a hurricane during Katrina. Nobody is asking The Anointed One to fly into a tornado — just to make an appearance in Joplin as soon as possible and pretend to be president of all Americans, not just the welfare class and the liberal elite. But as Kanye West won't say, Barack Hussein Obama doesn't care about normal Americans.

Denmark Bans Another Food

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:02 AM

If you want to see the future of American cuisine under ever-encroaching soft totalitarianism, have a look at Denmark, where they have just banned a British delicacy called Marmite:

The strongly flavoured dark brown spread made from brewer's yeast has joined Rice Crispies, Shreddies, Horlicks and Ovaltine prohibited in Denmark under legislation forbidding the sale of food products with added vitamins as threat to public health.
Many well known breakfast cereal and drink brands have already been banned or taken off supermarket shelves after Danish legislation in 2004 restricted foods fortified with extra vitamins or minerals.
But Marmite had escaped notice as an exotic import for a small number of ex-pats until the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration telephoned Abigail's, a Copenhagen shop selling British food, to ban the famous yeast spread.
"I don't eat it myself, I don't like it but Marmite was one of our best selling products. Not a day goes by without someone coming in and asking for it," said Marianne Ørum, the shop owner.
"All the English people here are shaking their heads in disbelief and say that it is insane. I agree but it is the law. It's becoming impossible to run a business in this country. We are not allowed to do anything anymore. It is the way Denmark is going."

As New York's nanny state dictator Michael Bloomberg constantly reminds us with his bizarre jihads against basic food staples like salt, it's the way the whole Western World is going. Once bureaucrats have gotten away with claiming authority over what we eat, they will incrementally ban everything imaginable until we are left gnawing on bark like North Koreans.

This is why it is crucial to never yield a single inch to liberal control freaks.

Yet another triumph for soft tyranny.

Obama Botches Toast to Queen

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:02 AM

As tornadoes lay waste to the Heartland, President Chalaque's 2008 British Isles Comedy of Errors Tour plodded onward yesterday with a cloddish botching of a toast to the Queen. When the Moonbat Messiah gave the cue for the orchestra to start playing "God Save the Queen," but then continued to yammer, even ABC News couldn't help but snicker.

"Ladies and gentlemen please stand with me and raise your glasses as I propose a toast," the president said, putting down his note cards and grabbing his glass. "To her majesty the Queen."
The president paused, the guests stood, and the orchestra prepared to play.
But the president wasn't done speaking.
"The vitality —" the president said before the orchestra began.
Then the familiar tune — you might know it better as "My Country 'Tis of Thee" — started up.
The president kept going: " — of the special relationship between our peoples and for the words of Shakespeare to this blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England," the president said as the awkward moment played out.
The Queen looked ahead as the UK anthem played.
"To the Queen," the president finally said.
He lifted his glass to her, she smiled a bit uncomfortably.
But because the song was playing, no one drank from his or her glass, including the president, who put his glass down on the table.

This after libs tried to tell us that George W. Bush was an embarrassment.

If he wasn't so relentlessly hostile to our British friends, you could almost feel sorry for the guy. Obviously he is in over his head.

Leave it to straight-talking Congressman Allen West (R-FL) to sum up the Obama Regime's Jeremiah Wright-inspired policy toward our ally Israel in one word: malicious.

South Florida Congressman Allen West accused President Obama of "nefarious and malicious intent" when calling for Israel to accept pre-1967 borders as part of a Middle East peace settlement.
While many of Israel's advocates opposed the president's stance, West, a Plantation Republican and tea party stalwart, delivered the most withering criticism.

The media can get away with calling West a "Plantation Republican" because he lives in Plantation, Florida.

"America has a president who lacks moral courage and integrity when it comes to America's long-standing relationship with Israel," West concluded in a weekly wrapup message sent to "fellow patriots."
"I cannot attribute this incompetent statement to naïveté, but rather to conscious, nefarious, and malicious intent," he added.
"Yes, I am very aware these words and the statement I released will be carried forward all across America, and possibly beyond — and yes they are strong words. However, it is time that someone rose up to speak the truth."

That it is. Those rare few in politics who have the courage to do so will be rewarded by the voters.

Barack Hussein O'Clueless Doesn't Know What Year It Is

Now I understand why he's goofing around in Europe instead of getting his tail to Joplin and acting like a president. In the Moonbat Messiah's alternate reality, it's still 2008; half the public still thinks he's the cat's meow, and the deadliest tornado since 1953 hasn't happened yet:

2008 was a good year for Barack Obama. He won the election and became the first black president, after all. And even though it's now 2011, it seems 2008 is still at the forefront of Obama's mind. See, while on his state visit in London today, Obama signed the guest book at the famed Westminster Abbey, but he didn't date it May 24, 2011 — instead he put "24 May 2008".

Judicial Oligarchs Force New Jersey to Pour Fortune Into Government Schools

Posted by Dave Blount at 3:31 PM

What if we were able to elect honest patriots with enough backbone to stand up to entrenched special interests and enact the radical reduction in government spending that is unquestionably necessary to prevent the impending economic catastrophe? The liberal courts would step in:

In a widely anticipated decision, the New Jersey Supreme Court ordered the state to spend an additional $500 million on public education in poor districts next year.

For the radical left and the courts it controls, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is barely a speed bump.

Christie had argued that the state's current fiscal woes made it impossible to spend the full amount required by the funding formula approved by the court in 2009.
Still, the majority opinion written by Associate Justice Jaynee LaVecchia said Christie's cuts to education spending have been "consequential and significant" and must be rolled back. …
The Newark-based Education Law Center, which brought the lawsuit against the state, argued that the cuts violated the state's constitutional requirement to provide a "thorough and efficient system of free public schools." In response, the Christie administration said the state doesn't have enough money to spend more on schools and argued that the court should not inject itself into the budget-making process. Conservatives including Christie have fiercely criticized the court's actions over the years, saying justices have mistakenly treated more funding as a cure-all for poor districts' education woes.

However, this isn't about education anymore. Even a liberal could see that pouring money we don't have down public school rat holes until the government becomes insolvent won't increase math skills.

When push comes to shove, the separation of powers goes out the window, and liberals rely on judicial oligarchs to ram through their malignant agenda. They have done it again and again, so don't expect them to stop now that the Cloward-Piven dream of using government spending to induce economic collapse — paving the way for a totalitarian managed economy — is so close to fruition.

He blames us for what happened to his grandfather during Mau Mau. He doesn't believe in the Special Relationship. Are we honestly supposed to believe in that during the subsequent year in office, Obama has since acquired such wisdom and insight that he suddenly realises how special we are?
Of course he hasn't. Obama is just doing now what all bullies and losers start doing when they realise how unpopular they are and that everyone is abandoning them. They suck up to anybody and everybody. They whore themselves piteously before enemies they once considered beneath their contempt. Fain will they fill their bellies with husks that swine eat — but which no man will give them: and serve them jolly well right, too!
By all means let us enjoy watching Obama smarm and grovel and ingratiate himself like some presidential Uriah Heep. But for heaven's sake let us never give him the benefit of the doubt. He's a cold fish and would certainly never show any mercy towards us were the roles to be reversed.

Carter Praises His Own Appalling Behavior as Ex-President

Historians may argue over whether Jimmy Carter was the worst pre-Obama president, but given the openly treasonous antics that won him the Nobel Peace Prize from America-hating European leftists, his assistance in developing North Korea's nuclear arsenal, and pro-terrorist lies that disgusted his own Carter Center staff into quitting, everyone can agree that he has been the worst ex-president — everyone, that is, except Carter himself. Another Call to Free Johnny Taliban

Now that Obama I mean Osama bin Laden is dead, the Marin County moonbats who produced Johnny Taliban are joining the LA Slimes in demanding the apple of their eye be released. The NY Slimes predictably offers a soapbox from which Frank Lindh makes his case:

On the evening of May 1, we learned that Osama bin Laden had been killed. The following dawn, I left my house in the Bay Area to catch a bus to Oakland International Airport. I flew to Indianapolis for a scheduled visit with my son, John Walker Lindh, at the federal prison in Terre Haute, Ind.
I love my son. I enjoy our periodic visits and our weekly telephone calls, but this visit felt different. "If Bin Laden is dead," I kept thinking, "why can't John come home?"

Like other Muslims, Johnny Taliban is a put-upon victim of the insensitive Bush Regime. He went to Afghanistan to fight for the Taliban, but who could blame him, considering that the Northern Alliance resistance was "brutal"? He took part in the Mazar-i-Sharif prison camp uprising that produced the first American combat casualty in Afghanistan, CIA agent Mike Spann. But it's not like he killed Spann with his own hands.

They used to shoot traitors who fought for the enemy against American forces. But instead Johnny Taliban was sentenced to 20 years of three hots and a cot on our dime. Dad thinks that's too stiff.

Now that Bin Laden is dead, I hope President Obama, and the American people, can find it in their hearts to release John, and let him come home.

No doubt this argument will resonate with the Obama Misadministration, which has already officially ended the War on Terror by forbidding use of the term.

Obesity Pill for Unborn Babies

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:52 AM

The absurd war on childhood obesity, whereby children are drugged if they won't sit placidly in front of the TV, then forced to live on Brussels sprouts if they put on weight, has been escalated:

Dr. Hassan Shehata wants to keep potentially pudgy babies from tipping the scales too high at birth, which can expose them — and their moms — to serious complications and lifelong problems.
The solution, he believes, is to give the pregnant, obese women the popular diabetes drug metformin — even though the expectant mothers don't actually have the disease. …
Shehata hopes to show that fewer babies born to women who take the drug will have high birth weights — 10 pounds or more — which lands them in the 90th percentile for weight and effectively brands them as obese.

Long-term effects on the babies, in particular their livers, are unknown. But hey, a fetus is just a blob of protoplasm anyway, right libs?

Here's an idea. If you don't want your kids to be fat, give them baseball gloves instead of video games for their birthdays.

His gigantic bomb-proof General Motors Cadillac, with eight-inch thick armour-plating on its door, didn't even make it as far as the road outside the embassy.

Supremes Order California to Let Criminals Loose

Posted by Dave Blount at 1:16 PM

Flapping their bat-like black robes, the supreme oligarchs inflict another ruling:

The Supreme Court has endorsed a court order requiring California to cut its prison population by thousands of inmates to improve health care for those who remain behind bars.
The court said in a 5-4 decision Monday that the reduction is "required by the Constitution" to correct longstanding violations of inmates' rights.

One way to relieve overcrowding would be to expedite the decades-long process of executing murderers. Another would be to stop providing free goodies for illegal aliens, spending the money instead on legitimate functions of the state such as prisons.

But in a world run by moonbats, the decree could only mean the release of dangerous criminals in the name of their imaginary "rights." In contrast, the real right of law abiding citizens to be secure in their persons continues to be ignored by our do-gooder rulers.

Polar Bear Population Remains Stable

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:35 AM

As deadly carbon levels continue to rise due to our slowness in submitting to a medieval subsistence existence imposed on a global level by a socialist oligarchy, let's check in on the plight of the imperiled polar bears:

The Polar Bear Specialist Group of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the organization of scientists that has attempted to monitor the global polar bear population since the 1960s, has issued a report indicating that there was no change in the overall global polar bear population in the most recent four-year period studied.
"The total number of polar bears is still thought to be between 20,000 and 25,000," the group said in a press release published together with a report on the proceedings of its 15th meeting.
20,000 to 25,000 polar bears worldwide is exactly the same population estimate the group made following its 14th international meeting.

However, just because the population of these human-hunting monsters is regrettably not going down is no reason for bureaucrats to refrain from destroying the economy on their behalf.

In 2008, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service declared the polar bear a threatened species under the U.S. Endangered Species Act. The declaration was not based on an actual decline in the polar bear population but on the government's conclusion that future declines in Arctic sea ice will reduce the bear's habitat and put it at risk.

That is, actual numbers don't matter, because they can be replaced by fanciful suppositions about what might happen in the future if harmless and ubiquitous CO2 isn't rigorously suppressed.

Progressive Parents Raise Genderless Baby

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:07 AM

What moonbattery has done to politics, art, music, and most every other facet of Western Civilization it is also doing to parenting. Kathy Witterick and her husband David Stocker are taking the next progressive step into our deconstructed postmodern future by raising a genderless child:

While there's nothing ambiguous about Storm's genitalia, they aren't telling anyone whether their third child is a boy or a girl.
The only people who know are Storm's brothers, Jazz, 5, and Kio, 2, a close family friend and the two midwives who helped deliver the baby in a birthing pool at their Toronto home on New Year's Day.

According to Stocker, it's "obnoxious" for parents to chose their children's gender, as if the choice weren't made at conception by biological reality.

Storm won't be the first kid in the family to grow up with serious issues resulting from progressive parenting.

Jazz and Kio have picked out their own clothes in the boys and girls sections of stores since they were 18 months old. Just this week, Jazz unearthed a pink dress at Value Village, which he loves because it "really poofs out at the bottom. It feels so nice." The boys decide whether to cut their hair or let it grow. …
The boys are encouraged to challenge how they're expected to look and act based on their sex.

The Stocker/Witterick klan are true progressives, who spend their vacations "learning about the revolution" in Cuba and allegedly chatting with leftist Zapatistas in Mexico, although they don't speak Spanish.

Guess what Stocker does for a living?

Stocker teaches at City View Alternative, a tiny school west of Dufferin Grove Park, with four teachers and about 60 Grade 7 and 8 students whose lessons are framed by social-justice issues around class, race and gender.

Witterick doesn't work, but has given workshops to teachers in "violence prevention" — whatever that means in the context of outer-fringe moonbattery.

As for their own children's education,

Witterick practices unschooling, an offshoot of home-schooling centred on the belief that learning should be driven by a child's curiosity. There are no report cards, no textbooks and no tests. For unschoolers, learning is about exploring and asking questions, "not something that happens by rote from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays in a building with a group of same-age people, planned, implemented and assessed by someone else," says Witterick.

Fortunately the kids won't need to learn the three R's to serve as props for their parents' liberal ideology.

Jazz — soft-spoken, with a slight frame and curious brown eyes — keeps his hair long, preferring to wear it in three braids, two in the front and one in the back, even though both his parents have close-cropped hair. His favourite colour is pink, although his parents don't own a piece of pink clothing between them. He loves to paint his fingernails and wears a sparkly pink stud in one ear, despite the fact his parents wear no nail polish or jewelry.

The wording above is meant to absolve the parents of turning the poor kid into a social engineering project. But Jazz seems to be aware that he has been made into a freak:

Jazz was old enough for school last September, but chose to stay home. "When we would go and visit programs, people — children and adults — would immediately react with Jazz over his gender," says Witterick, adding the conversation would gravitate to his choice of pink or his hairstyle.
That's mostly why he doesn't want to go to school. When asked if it upsets him, he nods, but doesn't say more.
Instead he grabs a handmade portfolio filled with his drawings and poems. In its pages is a booklet written under his pseudonym, the "Gender Explorer." In purple and pink lettering, adorned with butterflies, it reads: "Help girls do boy things. Help boys do girl things. Let your kid be whoever they are!"

No wonder they let him decide whether he wants to go to school. The "Gender Explorer" is clearly a very precocious 5-year-old — unless we've got another Autum Ashante on our hands.

As for the moonbat mom and dad accepting any responsibility for the train wreck they are making of their children's psyches:

"We spend more time than we should providing explanations for why we do things this way," says Witterick. "I regret that (Jazz) has to discuss his gender before people ask him meaningful questions about what he does and sees in this world, but I don't think I am responsible for that — the culture that narrowly defines what he should do, wear and look like is."

That is, it's all the fault of normal people for not being militant weirdos.

The one in pigtails is a boy. The other, who knows?

Massive Fine for Selling Rabbits

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:02 AM

John and Judy Dollarhite of Nixa, Missouri used to raise rabbits for extra spending money. They should have signed up for food stamps instead. Our federal overlords do not take kindly to entrepreneurism. After harassment by the USDA reminiscent of K's tribulations in The Trial, the Dollarhites — who took good care of the animals, complied with all applicable state laws, and never sold them across state lines — were hit with a bizarre and massive fine:

Recently, the Dollarhites received a "Certified Mail Return Receipt" letter (dated April 19, 2011) from the USDA informing them that they had broken the law and must pay USDA a fine of $90,643. Their crime? Violating violating 9 C.F.R. § 2.1 (a) (1): Selling more than $500 worth of rabbits in a calendar year. …
Based on an average price per rabbit sold being $10.45, the fine comes out to more than $206 per rabbit. In addition, the letter contains the following statement:
APHIS [Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service] laws and regulations provide for administrative and criminal penalties to enforce these regulatory requirements, including civil penalties of up to $10,000 for each of the violations documented in our investigation.
If the threat contained in the letter is to be believed, the family could be fined as much as $10,000 per rabbit beyond the first 50 bunnies that netted the family its first $500. Do the math (390 rabbits x $10,000 each) and, if they don't pay the initial fine, they could face additional fines totaling $3.9 million.

This is why the Constitution used to have a Tenth Amendment. Consider America fundamentally transformed.

The feds come down on bunny sales.

South Park Jihadi Worked for Obama Campaign

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:50 AM

What kind of kook would have worked to turn our country over to an anti-American Marxist Islamophile? American Muslim Zachary Chesser gives an idea:

The radicalized knucklehead convicted of threatening the lives of the "South Park" creators signed up as a volunteer for Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign, but by the time Election Day arrived he had concluded it would be a violation of Islamic law to vote in the U.S. election, according to court records.
Wannabe jihadi Zachary Chesser, 21, was sentenced earlier this year to 25 years in federal prison following his guilty plea to making the "South Park" threats as well as providing material support to terrorists (in this case the Somali guerilla group Al-Shabaab).

Chesser threatened to kill Matt Stone and Trey Parker because he didn't like a South Park episode that featured Mohammed in a bear suit.

He might have stayed out of trouble if the Moonbat Messiah had rewarded his service by making him a czar. Chesser would fit right in with militant lunatics like John Holdren, Cass Sunstein, Van Jones, Mark Lloyd, et al. How about Islamic Blasphemy Suppression Czar?

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:12 AM

America is not just a matter of geographical boundaries. It is an idea, and moonbattery can snuff it out within a generation. Watch as college students sign a petition to ban conservatives from the airwaves, even while mouthing platitudes regarding their support for freedom of speech:

Not one of these blinkered totalitarians is an American in any meaningful sense.

References to the "spewing of hatred" confirm that these pod people haven't listened to Rush or Glenn Beck. To listen to the conservative point of view or even to become aware of what it is would be an unacceptable threat to liberal orthodoxy. Bibi and the Punk

One of these young men grew up to be a great world leader, presenting the face of Western Civilization to its barbaric enemies. The other never did grow up:

Barry Hussein thought it would be cute to pander to Muslims by demanding Israel's suicide while Netanyahu was on a plane for Washington. Unfortunately for Mullah Obama, soon after that plane touched down, he got his scrawny rear end handed to him.

In front of the assembled media in the Oval Office, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Friday bluntly rejected President Obama's call a day earlier for Israel to use its pre-1967 borders as the negotiating baseline for a peace deal with the Palestinians.
"While Israel is prepared to make generous compromises for peace, it cannot go back to the 1967 lines," Mr. Netanyahu said, addressing Mr. Obama rather than speaking to the assembled reporters and photographers. "These lines are indefensible. For there to be peace, the Palestinians will have to accept some basic realities."

Unless Obama and everyone around him are certifiable idiots, it was pure malevolence to demand that Israel pull back to pre-1967 borders, abandoning key holy sites in East Jerusalem and making the country geographically indefensible from the enemies surrounding it. Even if it were conceivable that Israel would make these concessions to terrorists who will never be satisfied so long as Israel exists, only a moron would make them before the bargaining had begun.

The Manchurian Moonbat must have been paying attention during his 20 years in the pews of the rabidly anti-Semitic and anti-Israel Jeremiah Wright after all.

Meanwhile, self-hating American Jews who value moonbattery even above their continued existence will still support the Jew-hating Islamophile in the White House:

The National Jewish Democratic Council issued a statement saying it was "laughable" to suggest Mr. Obama's pronouncement was any different from the policies of Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton.

Although it may be too much to hope for leadership of Netanyahu's quality given our current political field, sooner or later we will put an adult in the White House. Then maybe we can try a peace plan that might actually work — like this one: Palestinians knock off the terror attacks immediately and completely, or any country giving them free money will be regarded as at war with Israel and its ally the United States.

If that doesn't work, there's always carpet bombing. Muslim terrorists aren't playing around. If we don't start fighting now while we still have the upper hand, the entire world is going to be the Gaza Strip.

Wising Up

Despite the ruin liberals have made of the education establishment, young people are still learning some valuable lessons:

A recent informal survey of 500 post-grads primarily between the ages of 22 and 28 — 83 percent of whom voted for President Barack Obama in 2008 — found just 27 percent of Obama's previous youth supporters plan to vote for him again, The Daily Caller reports. That's a drop of almost 60 points.
In contrast, of those who voted for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in 2008, a vast majority — 80 percent — said they would vote GOP again. An 80 percent majority of those newly disillusioned by Obama said they would consider voting for a Republican in 2012, too.
Why the change? Probably that first paycheck — or the lack thereof.

When parent-financed playtime ends, the grim reality of Obamanomics hits home. The gooey warm feeling some got from voting for the left-wing black guy with no qualifications isn't going to pay the rent.

ObamaCare Backer AARP Gets Exemption From ObamaCare

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:39 AM

You might have wondered how the American Association of Retired Persons could throw its money and influence behind ObamaCare. True like most establishment associations it is run by moonbats, but it still has to look out for the interests of retirees or there's no point to its existence — and ObamaCare is about as friendly to seniors as Obama's foreign policy is to Israel. Now comes the explanation — supporting ObamaCare earned the AARP an exemption from it:

The Daily Caller has learned that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) rate review rules, which it finalized on Thursday, exempt "Medigap" policy providers, like the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), from oversight when such providers increase payment rates for their supplemental insurance plans.
Insurance providers who aren't exempt from Obamacare's rate review rules are required to publicly release and explain some health care payment rate increases.
The AARP is the nation's biggest seller of Medigap policies, or supplemental healthcare plans that add onto what Medicare won't cover for seniors. The senior citizens interest group advocated for Obamacare to include an attack on Medigap policies' biggest competitor, Medicare Advantage.

As Big Government metastasizes, corruption spreads with it. The technical term for this process is Obamunism.

NASA's New Mission: Left-Wing Propaganda Targeting Children

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:36 AM

What does NASA do with our money now that Obama has pulled the plug on space exploration? Its new primary mission is to help Muslims feel good about themselves for their imaginary technological accomplishments, but another important objective is to brainwash gullible children with anti-human leftist ideology:

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Web site network includes "Climate Kids: NASA's Eyes on the Earth," which use cartoons, games, and other activities to teach children about man-made global warming and climate change.

A sample of the appalling content:

One of the features on the children's pages is a "Climate Tales" cartoon, "Adventures on a Changing Planet: Will our heroes ever find their way home?"
The cartoon features a polar bear and a fish. In the cartoon, some of the following dialogue occurs:
"Hey, it looks like your ice is melting," the fish says.
"I had to swim for miles to find a chunk of ice to climb onto," says the bear. "If I don't get to rest once in a while I won't have enough energy to hunt my next meal."
"All the ice is melting," the bear says.
After being transported to the South American rain forest, the fish and the polar bear meet a monkey.
"Where did all the trees go?" the bear asks.
"Funny story," the monkey says. "The humans cut them down and burned them."
"And now it's a trash dump," says the bear.
The monkey informs the bear that the humans tried to grow crops and "it didn't take long for the humans to use all the rest of the life in the soil."

Under Americans, the purpose of NASA was to raise mankind to new heights through the advancement of technology. Under moonbats, its purpose is to retard technology — even including agriculture — so that the world might go back to jungle.

Cartoonishly heavy-handed, but this NASA propaganda might work on kids.

Obama Gas Station

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:35 AM

If moonbats work their usual rehabilitative magic through their control of the information establishment, the Moonbat Messiah will be remembered not as a bumbling communist who disgraced the country, dismantled its economy, spent it into ruin, and stabbed its allies in the back. If they could spin the depression-extending FDR and even the fascistic Woodrow Wilson into heroes, anything's possible. If America survives, we'll one day pick up our mail at the Barack Hussein Obama Post Office and send our kids to be indoctrinated at Barack Hussein Obama High. It's starting already in Columbia, South Carolina:

Two gas stations sit at the corner of Columbia's North Main Street and Prescott Road, the El Cheapo and another station with a new name — Obama.
"I see more people come in excited with the name," said owner Sam Alhanik, who got the idea from a friend who created an Obama Gas Station in Michigan.
Alhanik has only owned this station for two months. Although born in Yemen, he says he supports America's president. "It's the first president of black people," he said. "It's our president. We like him."
He says he's seen a boom in business since changing the name, one that has sparked quite the competition with the station across the street. Before our interview, the price at the Obama station was $3.59 for a gallon of regular. The price at El Cheapo $3.54.

How fitting that the gas would cost more at the Obama station, considering that its namesake has been deliberately driving prices toward the stratosphere.

Our vestigial remnants of capitalism temporarily brought the price down to meet the competition, but in the long run energy prices will be rising for everyone as part of our "fundamental transformation."

Prices brought to you by Barack Hussein himself.

Olive Stone Whitewashes Imperial Japanese in Front of Their Victims

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:34 AM

Oliver Stone doesn't love only communists. Any enemy of America can earn his affection — even the demonic Imperial Japanese. In Singapore, which knows a little on that topic, Stone revealed that he is working on a 10-part defamation of America to be called The Untold History of the United States.

In the series, which he calls "the most important thing I have ever done", he will give us his unique take on pivotal events like World War II and the Cold War.
Known for being hysterically outspoken and politically on the left, he has made a career of portraying the United States establishment — from Presidents to the intelligence services — as murderous villains….
Mr Stone is keen to keep the exact details of the "History of the World, according to Oliver Stone" under wraps but he does suggest that it will re-examine the likes of the Japanese in WWII and Russian tyrant Joseph Stalin more sympathetically than ever before.
He tells the audience: "The Japanese were recognised, often hailed as liberators in Asia of these European colonies." …
Liberators? It is bizarre, if not downright offensive, that Mr Stone chooses Singapore — where it is thought the Japanese murdered as many as 50,000 Chinese in just a few short years — to talk up the merits of the invading army. … The Japanese took torture and murder to industrious levels, shooting, beheading and burning alive thousands of locals and British prisoners of war.

Not even the infamously bloodthirsty Imperial Japanese could top Stalin, who murdered by the tens of millions, and who will also receive a reverent whitewash. Like the progressive intelligentsia he personifies, Stone is not merely deluded and flaky, but wicked. The explicit purpose of his films is to extol evil and malign good.

As Big Government and unions corrode our education system into a crumbling babysitting service, it has fallen upon Hollywood to rewrite history for the next generation. George Orwell wisely observed that

Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.

The present is controlled by the liberal ruling class, led by malevolent vermin like Oliver Stone.

All public school teachers know that they are expected to use their position to promote politically correct ideology, but even in the Age of Obama they can get in trouble for pushing the envelope too far too fast. When a kid at the Cesar Chavez Middle School in Waco allegedly used the forbidden N-word "or something similar" in a private conversation with his Caucasian teacher Roberta Buck, this is how he was punished:

Buck then reportedly … relayed that information to her predominantly African American class (78.26%).
"She did not physically cause harm to the student, but from the arrest affidavit you can see what she said led to the student being struck by other students and that's totally unacceptable," Waco ISD spokesman Dale Caffey said.
The warrant goes on to say that Buck gave the class permission to hit the student who made the comment.
That's exactly what his classmates reportedly did in the hallway after class. Buck supposedly didn't stop her students from hitting the teen in head, back and shoulders. All while he covered his head and tried to protect himself.

Once again we see that moonbattery is not about promoting racial harmony. Quite the reverse.

Good Night and Good Riddance, Katie Cupcake

You would have thought that up was the only way to go for CBS News when it dumped the disgraced propagandist Dan Blather, who had been nailed for using blatantly fake documents to discredit George W. Bush just before the 2004 election. Yet CBS managed to dig itself deeper still by replacing the back-bencher temporary stand-in Bob Schieffer with a cutie-pie parody of a partisan journalist, Katie Couric. The farce ends tonight.

Thursday, May 19, marks Katie Couric's last night at the anchor desk of the CBS Evening News. …
CBS had been in third place for years under Dan Rather and Schieffer, but the slide worsened after Couric took over. By August 2010, the CBS Evening News was recording its lowest ratings ever — fewer than 5 million viewers.
Under Dan Rather, the CBS Evening News was the poster-child of liberal media bias, with the broadcast's reputation suffering its worst hit after Rather's almost-comical attempt to sabotage President Bush's 2004 re-election. Couric's years at NBC's Today, however, were marked by a similar liberal tilt that made her a questionable choice to rebuild the damaged network. In the end, the reputed $15 million per year that CBS spent on its new star was just money down the drain.

Lowlights from Katydidn't's embarrassing tenure:

Next on Liberal Agenda: Taking Voting Rights From Seniors

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:53 AM

Many seniors have figured out that ObamaCare will mean power-drunk statists condemning them to death because it isn't financially sensible for Big Government to spend money keeping people alive who are mostly done paying taxes. This is likely to hurt the Democrat Party with a growing sector of the population. But as with all problems caused by liberal solutions, they have a solution for this too — take voting rights away from the elderly:

America should implement age weighted voting to make voting more objective and fair, and give the young more power, because the consequences of political decisions will affect them the longest. Age weighted voting would restore power to twenty and thirty year olds, where it resided before the advent of medical science. With the aid of computers, it would be easy to give everyone a Voting Score, just like we all have a credit score.

The Voting Score would be weighted not only to reward the young for their political naiveté, but to compensate for the shiftlessness that characterizes the extended adolescence of today's 20-somethings:

It is a well-known fact that older voters vote more frequently, so this factor would compensate for the apathy of youth. For example, each vote by a twenty year old would count as 20 votes (in a primary of course) to compensate for the fact that only 5% of twenty year olds vote in primaries (where most political decisions are actually made). Different factors would be applied to general elections.

The Washington Post's appalling Ezra Klein gives an idea of what these "different factors" might be. Seniors won't be the only ones to be disenfranchised if moonbats have their way:

If your response to this is that it's crazy and offensive, that all American adults are equal and so is their vote, you might want to familiarize yourself with the U.S. Senate, where a Wyoming resident's vote is worth almost 70 times as much as a Californian's, or the electoral college, where the presidency could be won by a candidate who loses the popular vote 4:1.

The Senate and Electoral College were designed to keep states with large populations like California and New York from imposing their will on the rest of the country. Both of these states are on the verge of bankruptcy as a result of being ruled by socialists who are running out of other people's money.

More from young Ezra, the moonbat boy wonder:

All of which is to say, we already reweight voting in this country. But we do it to give residents from small states more power. Does that really make more sense than reweighting by age, education, race, income or some other demographic characteristic?

Weighting by race is a concept sure to find favor among our liberal rulers as they strive to reduce the concept of republican government to a farcical fig leaf on their oligarchical collectivist power structure.

Adult Baby Stanley Thornton Threatens Suicide if Thrown Off the Welfare Gravy Train

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:01 AM

Remember the welfare parasite and "adult baby" Stanley Thornton, who whiles away his work-free time crapping in his diapers, which are presumably changed by his room-mate, the fellow welfare parasite Sandra Dias, who pretends to be his mommy? His story can serve as an inspiration to liberals wondering just how far they can take their ideology. But a villainous Republican has cast a shadow on his domestic bliss:

A key senator has asked the Social Security Administration to investigate how people who live their lives role-playing as "adult babies" are able to get taxpayer-funded disability payments — after one of them was featured on a recent reality TV episode wearing diapers, feeding from a bottle and using an adult-sized crib he built.
Sen. Tom Coburn, Oklahoma Republican and the Senate's top waste-watcher, asked the agency's inspector general to look into 30-year-old Stanley Thornton Jr. and his roommate, Sandra Dias, who acts as his "mother," saying it's not clear why they are collecting Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits instead of working.
"Given that Mr. Thornton is able to determine what is appropriate attire and actions in public, drive himself to complete errands, design and custom-make baby furniture to support a 350-pound adult and run an Internet support group, it is possible that he has been improperly collecting disability benefits for a period of time," Mr. Coburn wrote in a letter Monday to Inspector General Patrick P. O'Carroll Jr.

Thornton reacted in character with an infantile tantrum:

Mr. Thornton threatened to kill himself if his Social Security payments are taken away….
"You wanna test how damn serious I am about leaving this world, screw with my check that pays for this apartment and food. Try it. See how serious I am. I don't care," the California man said. "I have no problem killing myself. Take away the last thing keeping me here, and see what happens. Next time you see me on the news, it will be me in a body bag."

George Soros Is Spending Fortune to Drive News Media Further Left

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:02 AM

If you think the journalism establishment is left-wing now, wait until the seeds sinister ultra-left financier George Soros has been planting begin to flower.

Since 2003, Soros has spent more than $48 million funding media properties, including the infrastructure of news — journalism schools, investigative journalism and even industry organizations.
And that number is an understatement. It is gleaned from tax forms, news stories and reporting. But Soros funds foundations that fund other foundations in turn, like the Tides Foundation, which then make their own donations. A complete accounting is almost impossible because a media component is part of so many Soros-funded operations.
…Soros' influence doesn't just include connections to top mainstream news organizations such as NBC, ABC, The New York Times and Washington Post. It's bought him connections to the underpinnings of the news business. …Soros naturally started with Columbia University's School of Journalism. Columbia is headed by President Lee Bollinger, who also sits on the Pulitzer Prize board and the board of directors of The Washington Post.
Bollinger, like some of Soros' other funding recipients, is pushing for journalism to find a new sugar daddy or at least an uncle — Uncle Sam. Bollinger wrote in his book "Uninhibited, Robust, and Wide-Open: A Free Press for a New Century" that government should fund media.

Once the news media is set on the same track toward Stalinization as healthcare, Soros's $zillions won't be needed anymore. Hard left social engineers will simply steal the money from you — as they are already doing for rabidly liberal NPR and PBS.

The idea is to create a situation where only non-leftist sources of information are burdened with the need to make a profit, since the rest can help themselves to the money of people who have no use for them. In a free market, Fox News can easily defeat its competitors by offering something other than mendacious moonbattery. For liberals, this is just another reason to end economic freedom.

With the free market gone, we'll be left to complain to bureaucratic apparatchiks if we don't like the propaganda we're fed. Those are getting bought up by Soros too:

Readers unhappy with Soros' media influence might be tempted to voice concerns to the Organization of News Ombudsmen — a professional group devoted to "monitoring accuracy, fairness and balance." Perhaps they might consider a direct complaint to one such as NPR's Alicia Shepard or PBS's Michael Getler, both directors of the organization. Unfortunately, that group is also funded by Soros.

As the farthest fringes of the lunatic left tighten their grip on the information establishment, expect renewed attacks on those who haven't been taken over by the oligarchical collectivist pod people: Fox News, AM radio, and conservative blogs.

93-Year-Old Woman Fights to Defend Her $4

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:02 AM

Someone didn't get the memo that according to the sort of people running the country, property is theft:

A 48-year-old Philadelphia man has pleaded guilty to two despicable robberies in center city: an attack on a 93-year-old woman in the elevator of her apartment building, and another on a young mother walking her infant in a stroller.
Both victims were in court today as defendant Michael Crump admitted to the crimes. There was an audible gasp from spectators in the courtroom as the prosecutor described how Crump had knocked the elderly victim to the ground and then kicked her before fleeing from the elevator.
Crump got four dollars from the woman, but not without a fight.
"You are supposed to, if you are being attacked, you're supposed to hand over your valuables and not make a fuss about it," the feisty elderly victim told the judge. "But my feeling is, damn it, I worked all my life for this money and you are not going to get it. It was only four bucks, let's be brutally honest about it. The whole robbery was only four dollars. But at the same time it's my money and I worked for it."

If Americans took this attitude on April 15, we might still pull back from the brink before following the Soviet Union into ruin.

Graphic Artists for Al-Qaeda

Guantanamo crucifixion, Luca Sergio Maci, Italy

Republican flag, Michaux Delphine, France

........, Reza Sheri, Iran

As for artwork suggesting that terrorism is bad, that resisting it is good, or that there's nothing particularly Christ-like about getting locked up for plotting to murder innocent civilians — there isn't any. Still More on the Allegedly Gutsy Call

What really would have been gutsy is having a chance to get Osama bin Laden and not giving the go-ahead — stupid beyond belief because it would be bound to get leaked before long, but gutsy. Commander Obama's green light was about as gutsy as stepping out of the way of an oncoming train. Nancy Pelosi and Livia Soprano (played by Nancy Marchand, RIP):

The parallels are eerie. From Wikipedia:

Livia Soprano, the family matriarch, seemingly derives little pleasure from life other than making the people around her miserable…

Similarly, Nasty Pelousy has served as the House of Representatives' matriarch, where she derived visible pleasure from making the whole country miserable.

Both are steeped in corruption. One is a fictional character; the other can't possibly be for real.

General Motors Sponsors Propaganda Film Promoting Genocidal Chinese Communist Regime

Posted by Dave Blount at 2:03 PM

Having allowed itself to be absorbed by our leftist federal government, the once proud General Motors is now reduced to building overpriced eco-mobiles that no one will buy and sponsoring propaganda films for the communist Chinese. The Washington Times reports:

In late 2010, General Motors agreed to sponsor a propaganda film celebrating the 90th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The CCP made film titled (translated to English) "The Birth of a Party" or "The Great Achievement of Founding the Party" is set to premiere all over the Communist nation on June 15 reported China AutoWeb last September. The auto website adds:
"According to an announcement posted on Shanghai GM's official web site yesterday, whose title reads "joining hands with China Film Group, Cadillac whole-heartedly supports the making of the Birth of a Party…"

Between Mao's Great Leap Forward, the Cultural Revolution, labor camps, and various purges, the Chinese Communist Party has killed more of the people under its control than any other government in the history of the human race, easily dwarfing the body counts of Hitler and even Stalin. But having alienated the American public by succumbing to socialism, Government Motors now sells more cars in China than it does here. Besides, the same US government that partially owns GM is partially owned in turn by the ChiComs, who have been buying up our massive debt.

When the inevitable war with China comes within the next generation, expect American forces to come up against tanks made by General Motors and financed by our interest payments.

Clownish Nobel Laureates Put Human Race on Trial

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:55 AM

This is a big day for the human race. It has been put on trial by a moonbat kangaroo court in Stockholm, with Nobel prize winners taking the side of Planet Earth against it:

"It's a civil court case to see whether we've breached our relations" with the planet, "and to see how to restore that relationship," symposium chair Johan Rockström told reporters at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
The "trial" will be one of the sessions at the third biennial Nobel laureate symposium on global sustainability — a three-day event that opened in the Swedish capital Tuesday.

An advisor to our own rulers will be piling on against humanity:

Mario Molina of Mexico, the winner of the 1995 Nobel Chemistry Prize who is a science and technology advisor to US President Barack Obama, told the news conference he hoped rationality, common sense and wisdom would strengthen the planet's case in the "symbolic" trial.

Other than the media, who could take this misanthropic farce seriously? The United Nations, of course:

The Stockholm Memorandum will be considered by the UN panel, which was appointed by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon[bat] and includes South Africa's President Jacob Zuma and his Finnish counterpart Tarja Halonen and has been tasked with putting together a "new vision" on sustainable growth.

The idea is to impose the kangaroo court's lunatic verdict at an international level. Don't expect anyone in our government to defend America against it.

Nobel laureates prepare to hold court.

Boston Herald Shut Out by Obama Regime for Running Romney Op-Ed

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:34 AM

As promised, the Obama Administration is the most transparent in history — if you define transparency as opacity to those who don't realize that, as Chris Matthews would say, it's the media's job to make this presidency a success. Let the Boston Herald be an example to those not content to be lapdogs:

The White House Press Office has refused to give the Boston Herald full access to President Obama's Boston fund-raiser today, in e-mails objecting to the newspaper's front page placement of a Mitt Romney op-ed, saying pool reporters are chosen based on whether they cover the news "fairly."

By "fairly" they mean aggressively pro-Obama and dismissive toward his challengers.

"I tend to consider the degree to which papers have demonstrated to covering the White House regularly and fairly in determining local pool reporters," White House spokesman Matt Lehrich wrote in response to a Herald request for full access to the presidential visit.
"My point about the op-ed was not that you ran it but that it was the full front page, which excluded any coverage of the visit of a sitting US President to Boston. I think that raises a fair question about whether the paper is unbiased in its coverage of the President's visits," Lehrich wrote.

As the 2012 campaign heats up, newspapers will be well advised to get their layouts okayed by the White House before going to press.

Affirmative Action for Illegal Aliens

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:31 AM

It's not enough for our liberal rulers to facilitate the invasion, colonization, and demographic obliteration of our country by illegal aliens from across the willfully undefended border. They have to grant the invaders special privileges and advantages over the rest of us.

This week, Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley signed a bill to require the state's public universities to give undocumented aliens — generally illegal — in-state tuition privileges.
The bill, known as the Dream Act, is already the law in ten other states, including California, New York, Texas and Illinois.
But critics argue that the bill will give illegal aliens better treatment than Americans and legal immigrants — thanks to existing diversity policies at universities.
University of Maryland (College Park) computer science Prof. James Purtilo told that, during his time as an associate dean, he frequently saw admission officers favor students because of their "undocumented" status.
"They favor students with special circumstances. 'Undocumented alien' would be one of these special circumstances… They help fill out the diversity picture for the admissions office."
"It was just the norm," Purtillo added, "that obviously we need more of these students [undocumented aliens]… 'this student has a real story to tell' would be a common thing the admissions officers would say. Or that 'they're enriching the College Park experience.'"

Illegal aliens are by definition criminals. The moonbats running our schools consider this to be an impressive credential.

Just being Hispanic gives you a huge leg up on everyone else (except hyper-privileged blacks):

A study of selective universities by Princeton sociologists Thomas Espenshade and Alexandria Radford found that listing one's race as "Hispanic" instead of 'White" increased the likelihood of being admitted by the same amount as scoring an extra 130 points on the SAT. Compared to Asians, the study found, Hispanics receive a 240-point advantage.

A Hispanic who is also a criminal and who is taking part in the conquest of America by the Third World goes straight to the top of the admission list. The message to everyone who doesn't belong to a group adored by liberals is clear: don't bother trying; we'll take whatever you have earned and give it to someone who doesn't deserve it.

Meanwhile, in Washington:

President Obama also renewed his push last week for a national Dream Act, which would go further and provide a path to citizenship [i.e., amnesty] for undocumented [i.e., illegal] students.

Maybe liberals will break our spirits with their unjust insanity, and America will go under. Or maybe there will be one hell of a backlash against Comrade Obama and the depraved ideology he personifies.

Where this lunacy will lead.

Lottery Winner Kills Landlord Over Daughter's Refusal to Pay Rent

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:31 AM

No amount of free money poured on the poor is going to improve anything, as illustrated by the case of homicidal millionaire Freddie Young of Detroit:

Three months ago, Freddie Young became a lottery millionaire.
Today, the 62-year-old Detroiter is residing not in a luxury home but in a jail cell, accused of gunning down the owner of an apartment complex for evicting his daughter.

The landlord was Greg McNicol, originally of Australia, apparently a saintly but misguided eccentric who thought it was possible to do business in Detroit.

Apartment resident Florida Benton said McNicol was more than a landlord — he was a person with a good heart who lived in the "worst apartment" in the complex while he made repairs on the other units.
She wonders why a newly minted millionaire would allegedly get so worked up over unpaid rent in a run-down complex.
"My question is: If (Young) had that type of money, what was his daughter still doing here?" Benton said. "It is just as easy to put someone in a new residence tomorrow as it is to come down here and shoot someone in cold blood."

As easy maybe, but not as natural.

Prior to moving into the clink, Young lived in a $15,000 house described as a "ramshackle dwelling." The lottery money apparently went into new cars.

Cashing in on the lottery didn't do fellow Michigander Leroy Fick much good either. A year after winning $2 million, he continues to collect food stamps. But at least he hasn't killed anyone that we know of.

The Audacity of Corruption

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:50 PM

It will still be possible to run a business under ObamaCare — provided you can afford the right friends in Washington:

Of the 204 new Obamacare waivers President Barack Obama's administration approved in April, 38 are for fancy eateries, hip nightclubs and decadent hotels in House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi's Northern California district. … Pelosi's district secured almost 20 percent of the latest issuance of waivers nationwide….

The Pelosiland waivers prominently feature "luxurious, gourmet restaurants and hotels."

This is how socialism works to entrench businesses that are already established, preventing any new businesses from challenging them. Imagine trying to start a new business from scratch when you have to comply with ObamaCare's demented dictates, but your dinosaur competitors don't. You can see why unscrupulous corporations support statist thugs like Obama and Pelosi. The anti-corporation rhetoric is a lie, like Demorrhoids' piously expressed concern for the poor.

Boboquivari's restaurant in Pelosi's district in San Francisco got a waiver from Obamacare. Boboquivari's advertises $59 porterhouse steaks, $39 filet mignons and $35 crab dinners. …
Four-star hotel Campton Place got one too, as did Hotel Nikko San Francisco, which describes itself as "four-diamond luxury in the heart of the city." Tru Spa, which Allure Magazine rated the "best day spa in San Francisco," received an Obamacare waiver as well.
…Tru Spa's owner said new government health care regulations, both the federal-level Obamacare and new local laws in Northern California, have "devastated" the business. "It's been bad for us," he said, without divulging his name, referring to the new health care restrictions.

But they'll survive for now, because bureaucrats deigned to bestow the precious waiver.

To survive under liberalism, businesses need to buy friends like these.

Moonbat Tech: The Fab Tree Hab

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:45 AM

Only moonbats could make the age-old concept of the tree house this sanctimonious, pretentious, and absurd:

Our dwelling is composed with 100% living nutrients. Here traditional anthropocentric doctrines are overturned and human life is subsumed within the terrestrial environs. Home, in this sense, becomes indistinct and fits itself symbiotically into the surrounding ecosystem.
This home concept is intended to replace the outdated design solutions at Habitat for Humanity. We propose a method to grow homes from native trees. A living structure is grafted into shape with prefabricated Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) reusable scaffolds.

The Fab Tree Hab is "fully integrated into an ecological community," meaning you might share your bedroom with rodents, insects, and various critters. But it's a suitable habitation for moonbats, assuming no caves are available. Plus it only takes a generation to grow one.

Big Government's Latest Gift: The $50 Light Bulb

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:40 AM

Through taxation, regulation, and inflation, Big Government makes everything we buy more expensive, dramatically reducing the standard of living we would have were this still a free country. The reason we haven't rebelled is that this effect is normally almost invisible, like the fortunes the State bleeds from our paychecks. But the impending light bulb ban pushed through Congress by eco-fascists and crony capitalists like GE brings statism's effect on prices out in the open with $50 eco-bulbs:

Two leading makers of lighting products are showcasing LED bulbs that are bright enough to replace energy-guzzling 100-watt light bulbs set to disappear from stores in January.
Their demonstrations at the LightFair trade show in Philadelphia this week mean that brighter LED bulbs will likely go on sale next year, but after a government ban takes effect.
The new bulbs will also be expensive — about $50 each — so the development may not prevent consumers from hoarding traditional bulbs.

Our socialist rulers constantly remind us how much they care about the poor. Yet if it weren't for them, far fewer of us would be poor. Those who are will find themselves sitting in the dark when bureaucrats have priced lighting out of their reach.

Nothing could be more emblematic of excessive government.

Naked Moonbats Commune With Tree in Public Park

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:37 AM

Be careful when denying moonbats their petulant demands. You never know when they might take off their clothes, like they did in Charleston to express their opposition to human habitations and their reverence for a tree named Angel Oak.

Some 25 people disrobed and posed around the wide, gnarled trunk of the ancient oak as California-based photographer Jack Gescheidt and a documentary film crew recorded the moment in celebration of the tree, which is rumored to be 1,400 years old.
The guerrilla photo shoot was designed to draw attention to the oak's grandeur and raise concerns about a developer's plans to build apartments and shops on a larger tract adjacent to the small Johns Island park where the tree lives.

The development does not call for cutting down the tree; it will even increase the size of the 2-acre park by 6.5 acres. But moonbats will seize on any pretext to tear off their clothes and throw a tantrum.

A park staffer grew increasingly agitated as the group scouted out camera angles and possible poses in their initial "dressed rehearsal." But when the clothes came off, the stunned staffer screamed for them to stop.
"No, no, no, no, no!" she shouted. "You can't do that here! This is a family park!"

Gescheidt had no permit for the shoot, but his mission transcends the laws of mere men.

He contends the planned development will strip away much of the Angel Oak's surrounding forest, "desecrating" the land and changing its hydrology.
"I am moved to tears when I look at that tree."

Others are moved to tears at the thought of moonbats taking off their clothes in public parks.

Here's how this latest attack on civilization unfolded:

The group gathered at a small cafe beforehand and painstakingly went over their strategy. Be low-key, don't attract attention. Be courteous. Do nothing to harm the tree.
They carpooled over around 4 p.m., with a civil rights attorney in tow. Then, they spent some time communing with the tree, feeling its bark, doing yoga beneath its branches. After arranging themselves and trying out their pose clothed, they shed their garments and hustled back to resume their places. A dozen or so tourists, including a few kids, looked on. …
"It was amazing," said Tom Steenhuysen of Johns Island. "I was not aware of anyone on the outside. Literally, you became one with the tree for a moment."

Before long the police arrived and closed off the park to protect the innocent. No charges were filed. The moonbats were asked to refrain from running around naked in city parks.

Now let's cut down that tree so we can count the rings and see how old it is really.

Navy May Name Ship After Leftist Icon Cesar Chavez

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:37 AM

A free country requires civilian control of the military. Unfortunately, in our times that means top down moonbattery, as exemplified by the possibility that the Navy will name a new cargo ship after Cesar Chavez to pander to left-wing Hispanics.

James Gill, a spokesman for General Dynamics NASSCO in San Diego, said Monday the company suggested the name to honor its mostly Hispanic work force and the mostly Hispanic neighborhood, Barrio Logan, where the boat builder is located.

Given the political climate, there's no reason to think the Navy won't follow the suggestion. Why would it name the ship after a leftist union activist? Wikipedia explains:

After his death he became a major historical icon for the Latino community, and for liberals generally, symbolizing militant support for workers and for Hispanic power based on grass roots organizing and his slogan "Sí, se puede" (Spanish for "Yes, it is possible" or, roughly, "Yes, it can be done").

A slightly looser translation is the meaningless "Yes we can" mantra that swept the Moonbat Messiah into office. In the original Spanish, the incantation is ubiquitous at racially charged illegal alien rallies.

The Navy isn't there to fight for Hispanic Americans but for all Americans. Yet even in the military, balkanization is forcing its spreading roots into the cracks that are forming in the country's foundation.

Economists: Obama Stimulus Destroyed 500,000 Jobs

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:32 AM

Assuming that the purpose of Obama's economic policy is to drive up unemployment as quickly as possible without setting off armed rebellion, he really got his money's worth out of the "stimulus" looting spree known to bureauweenies as the "American Recovery and Reinvestment Act." A study (PDF) by economists Timothy Conley and Bill Dupor found the following:

We estimate the Act created/saved 450 thousand government-sector jobs and destroyed/forestalled one million private sector jobs.

Even with our stratospheric rates of taxation, it takes several wealth-producing private sector jobs to support a single parasitic government-sector job. Obviously, Obamunism cannot sustain itself economically. Soon bureaucrats will be paying themselves with Monopoly money backed by nothing whatsoever, because by sucking all the money out of the economy, they have allowed nothing to be produced. A graph from the study:

Notice the nosedive the manufacture of goods went into right after the Manchurian Moonbat took office. With Obama's union cronies and the demented EPA riding high in the seat of power, it won't be reversing that dive any time soon.

It isn't expected to. After the crash, when Americans are starving by the millions, the Left will be perfectly positioned to finish what FDR started by imposing totalitarian collectivism, per Cloward-Piven.

That's what people voted for when they voted for Obama. Some of them are even conscious of it.

Feds Started Texas Wildfire

Posted by Dave Blount at 1:20 PM

Not only has the Obama Regime refused to declare a major disaster for the devastating wildfires eating up Texas, while meanwhile giving assistance to Mexico to fight smaller ones — it even started one of the fires:

Tom Edwards, the county attorney in rural Motley County east of Lubbock, said on Friday that the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives was responsible on Tuesday for sparking a fire that consumed 150 acres.
"You can quote me on it: That bunch has a real corner on stupid," Edwards told Reuters.
Tom Crowley, a spokesman with the federal agency, said bureau officials were assisting four local bomb squads — at their request — to destroy some explosives. Firefighters were on hand, he said. The wind picked up, but the explosives were too dangerous to move, so the officials went ahead and destroyed the explosives.
"Unfortunately, a fragment ignited some grass," Crowley said.

That would be the same ATF that under Obama's rule has helped smuggle 1,700 guns into Mexico, for use by foreign criminal elements that are consolidating control of the Southwest. They've already been used to kill a Border Patrol agent.

Edwards is aghast at the cretinism of our Beltway overlords:

"We had high winds, we're under a burn ban because of extensive prairie fires, brush fires, and in they rolled with the idea of blowing up things."

Normally the government breaks your leg, then hands you an overpriced crutch that you have to pay for. But if you're Texas (or Arizona or South Carolina or any other state where voters have enough character not to vote for Obama), the overpriced crutch that you paid for goes to a neighboring state that is colonizing your territory with the government's help.

Newt Gingrich Endorses Socialized Medicine

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:31 AM

Anyone who would snuggle on a couch with Nancy Pelosi to promote the global warming hoax is either a moron or an authoritarian statist. Newt Gingrich confirms that he is the latter:

Newt Gingrich's appearance on "Meet the Press" [yesterday] could leave some wondering which party's nomination he is running for. The former speaker had some harsh words for Paul Ryan's (and by extension, nearly every House Republican's) plan to reform Medicare, calling it "radical."
"I don't think right-wing social engineering is any more desirable than left-wing social engineering," he said when asked about Ryan's plan to transition to a "premium support" model for Medicare. "I don't think imposing radical change from the right or the left is a very good way for a free society to operate."
As far as an alternative, Gingrich trotted out the same appeal employed by Obama/Reid/Pelosi — for a "national conversation" on how to "improve" Medicare, and promised to eliminate 'waste, fraud and abuse,' etc.

Not helpful, Newt — unless you're running as John McLame II, and your purpose is to be a stooge to facilitate Obama's reelection.

Unnoticed by Beltway bozos like Gingrich, the Tea Party movement proves there is a whole country out here that has had enough government bloat. We've also had enough of liberal Democrats mouthing occasional conservative platitudes and then running as Republicans.

It gets worse:

Gingrich also reiterated his previous support for a "variation of the individual mandate" for health care. "I believe all of us — and this is going to be a big debate — I believe all of us have a responsibility to help pay for health care," he said, insisting there is "a way to do it that make most libertarians relatively happy."

This small-l libertarian won't be happy until Newt and his like, with their Marxist assumption that they have a right to force some to pay for goods and services for others — i.e., to enslave them — have been hounded out of the public arena.

If the Republican Party is not a legitimate opposition party, but just a conjoined twin of the Democrats, voters will find an alternative. Remember the Whigs? People won't remember the GOP either if it nominates another squishy oligarchical collectivist of the McCain/Gingrich/Romney stripe.

Fined $45,000 for Not Cheering the Goon Who Raped Her

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:18 AM

What is a progressive legal system to progress to, now that it has largely decriminalized crime by treating criminals as victims of "social injustice"? How about treating their victims as the criminals? This story illustrates what a twisted web society weaves when serious crimes are excused:

The story starts in 2008 when a 16-year-old cheerleader for Silsbee (Texas) High School accused one of the school's star athletes, Rakheem Bolton (pictured), of raping her at a party.
Rakheem the Rapist.
Bolton and two other men would later be arrested and a grand jury would indict Bolton on a felony sexual assault of a minor charge. This charge was dropped when Bolton pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault. He received two years probation, community service, a fine and had to take anger-management classes. He was also allowed to return to school and rejoin his teammates on the basketball team. "I have no hard feelings toward the girl," Bolton told reporters. "It was a misunderstanding."

It takes a big heart to forgive the child you got a talking-to for raping.

In January of 2009, the victim was leading cheers at a basketball game Bolton was participating in, but when Bolton was about to take a free throw, the girl would stand silently with her arms folded refusing to cheer for the person she accuses of raping her. This got her kicked off the squad. "I didn't want to have to say his name and I didn't want to cheer for him," she later told reporters. "I just didn't want to encourage anything he was doing."

The spat ended up in court, where it was decided that as a cheerleader the girl was a "mouthpiece" for the school, which has no problem with Bolton raping children so long as he can throw a ball through a hoop, and had therefore surrendered her constitutional right to free speech.

Then they ordered her to pay the school $45,000 for filing a "frivolous" lawsuit.

Where are the shrieking feminists when you need them?

After more than a week of deliberation, the House overwhelmingly approved a measure honoring the intelligence community for the mission that killed Osama bin Laden.
The vote wasn't unanimous, however. Four liberal Democrats — Reps. Dennis Kucinich (Ohio), Barbara Lee (Calif.), Pete Stark (Calif.) and Lynn Woolsey (Calif.) — voted "present" on the measure, which was offered as an amendment to an intelligence authorization bill.

Here's the amendment that Kucinich and his California colleagues couldn't bring themselves to support:

(1) commends the men and women of the intelligence community for the tremendous commitment, perseverance, professionalism, and sacrifice they displayed in bringing Osama bin Laden to justice;
(2) commends the men and women of the intelligence community for committing themselves to defeating, disrupting, and dismantling al Qaeda; and
(3) reaffirms its commitment to using the capabilities and skills of the intelligence community to--
(A) disrupt, dismantle, and defeat al Qaeda and affiliated organizations around the world that threaten the national security of the United States;
(B) eliminate safe havens for terrorists in Afghanistan and Pakistan; and
(C) bring terrorists to justice.

Lee had a problem with eliminating safe havens for terrorists. The other three aren't talking.

Maybe they just wanted to honor the Community Organizer in Chief for his supposedly gutsy call. Voting "present" was Obama's hallmark during his extremely limited governmental experience, prior to the media putting him in charge of the whole country.

Rep. Lee favors safe havens for terrorists.

Brazil Grants Right to Masturbate to Internet Porn at Work

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:56 AM

With every passing day, the moonbats running this world further erode our basic rights to property, free expression, free association, and self-defense. We are granted coercive arbitrary decrees in exchange. For example, the Brazilian government infringes on your right to employ those you choose, but the employees have a "right" to masturbate at work:

This is the story of Ana Catarina Bezerra Silvares, an employee of an accounting firm, a divorced mother of three who lives in the village Vila Velha, Espírito Santo.
The woman suffers from a rare condition known as "compulsion orgasmic", caused by a chemical alteration in the brain region of the cortex, which leads her to masturbate several times a day to relieve the deep anguish that it causes.
Under this circumstance, Bezerra started legal proceedings with the company where she works that eventually won and that enables to masturbate for 15 minutes every two hours, besides using the computer to see erotic images that stimulate her desire.
The Brazilian newspaper North Regiao reported that the woman confessed, "There was a day I had to masturbate 47 times", adding: "I began to suppose that this could not be normal, and decided to seek help."
Currently, Bezerra follows a treatment that includes a potent cocktail of sedatives which gets her to "only" masturbate 18 times a day.

Victims of "compulsion orgasmic" may also find their condition aggravated by the comorbidity of feeling compelled to guzzle beer and munch Cheez Doodles while masturbating to Internet porn on company time. Rumors that this condition has already reached epidemic proportions among federal employees have not been confirmed.

Moonbat Tech: In Vitro Meat Habitat

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:45 AM

For generations moonbats have tossed and turned in the night, tormented by guilt over the trees that were cruelly sacrificed to built the structure sheltering them. At last there is a way for them to stay out of the rain while keeping their conscience clean — the In Vitro Meat Habitat:

This is an architectural proposal for the fabrication of 3D printed extruded pig cells to form real organic dwellings. It is intended to be a "victimless shelter", because no sentient being was harmed in the laboratory growth of the skin. …
As of now, the concept model consists of essentially very expensive fitted cured pork or articulated swine leather with an extensive shelf life. The actual scale of the non-perishable prototype is 11"x3"x7".

Unfortunately the In Vitro Meat Habitat is not a viable housing option for the truly politically correct, because the use of pig cells is offensive to Muslims. This problem is likely to be avoided in the future by using fetal stem cells. Unlike trees, unborn humans aren't sentient beings.

The In Vitro Meat Habitat: somewhat lacking in curb appeal.

Since allegedly oppressed homosexuals make up only a tiny percentage of the public, the idea probably isn't to pander to them, but to subliminally suggest that people can prove they aren't "homophobes" by using the browser.

A similar strategy explains why blacks are over-represented in television commercials by a good 400% in relation to their actual percentage of the population. Don't want to buy this product? What are you, a racist? The approach works so well, it was used to sell us a Marxist community organizer with no serious credentials as president.

Harry Reid Evokes Founding Fathers While Defending Authoritarian Outrage by Obama Administration

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:30 PM

Barack Hussein Obama's "fundamental transformation" of America means we now live in an authoritarian country where a two-bit dictator, acting on behalf of the union goons who helped put him in power, can use the thuggish National Labor Relations Board to kill a Boeing factory that would produce thousands of jobs in a right to work state.

The Founding Fathers devised an ingenious system to protect our liberty from tyrants like Obama, but it relied on our national character, which liberals must have succeeded at rotting into something with the consistency of decomposing suet for the Moonbat Messiah to have been elected — and for Harry Reid to have been reelected. See if you can hold down your lunch after watching Reid evoke those same Founding Fathers and their anti-statist strategy of checks and balances while defending Comrade Obama's intolerable violation of Boeing's right to do business even in states not run by unions:

The Audacity of Oligarchical Collectivism

Posted by Dave Blount at 2:38 PM

We haven't gotten much of the promised hope, but there's been plenty of audacity. After holding unemployment in the stratosphere with policies relentlessly hostile to any business that doesn't have a seat at his crony capitalist table, the Community Organizer in Chief demands that companies "step up" by hiring people just for the sake of hiring them, like the government does.

This will come as a surprise to collectivists, but employment is a side effect of a free market economy, not its purpose. Where there is freedom, a company hires people because it expects to get its money's worth out of the labor they provide.

The more the government intrudes, the more of an unreasonable commitment hiring becomes. The more Obama's ham-fisted socialist policies create a climate of fear, the fewer companies will find it sensible to take on such commitments. This is why socialist countries like France generally have unemployment rates two or three times those of America's.

Not to worry, liberals have the solution. Unemployment was never much of a problem in the Soviet Union, where two men would share the full-time job of watching a single cow graze. There was plenty of money too, because the government printed all the cash people could want.

There was nothing to buy with the money, since the economy didn't produce anything. But our progressive rulers tell us we shouldn't be such materialists anyway.

Chuck E. Cheese Sued for Gambling

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:29 AM

One reason for high unemployment is that it is increasingly expensive to do business in this country due to moonbattery run amok. For example, any business can be sued at any time for anything.

A San Diego mother is suing Chuck E. Cheese, the favorite pizza chain of kids across the nation, accusing the restaurant of illegal gambling.
Denise Keller, mother of two daughters, says Chuck E. Cheese has replaced its traditional games of skee-ball and whack-a-mole with machines that resemble slot machines, Capitol Weekly reported.
The lawsuit says that "many games found at Chuck E. Cheese's restaurants are illegal gambling devices that require little or no skill and are predominantly games of chance, much like a roulette wheel," according to the paper.
Keller's attorney, Eric Benink, said the games have flashing lights and bright colors just like slot machines.

As usual with preposterous lawsuits, the motive is a combination of cultural thuggery and naked greed:

Keller filed the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court in Southern California against CEC Entertainment, Inc., the Kansas-based company that owns Chuck E. Cheese. She wants restitution from CEC as well as an injunction that prevents it from offering the games in question to children in the future.

Every time a lawyer brings a suit, life becomes more expensive and less fun.

Federal Government Denies Wildfire Aid to Texas, Gives It to Mexico

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:11 AM

It would be hard to find a story more emblematic of Obamunism:

Just last month the U.S. sent two Air force cargo planes to help Mexico battle back wildfires in the northern part of its country, fires that burned 386 square miles. It's a move that West Texas Congressman Francisco Canseco (R-Fort Stockton) thinks is a hypocritical one by the Obama administration as Texas has requested the same sort of federal aid but has been denied it.
"386 square miles pales with the 2.5 million acres of land that have been burned and scorched beyond recognition," says Canseco.
And Former FEMA Director Michael Brown thinks that a "snub" like this reeks of politics as he believes Texas deserves a similar response from the federal government.
"I think what's going on is we see the Chicago style politics. I'm amazed that he's put FEMA in this awkward position of not allowing federal assistance," says Brown.

It may be amazing, but by now it's not surprising. With Obama in charge, America's interests will always come last. The interests of Texas — the heart of resistance to encroaching socialism — will be the last of the last.

Kid's Drawing of Old Glory Suppressed

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:58 AM

The American flag represents our country, our Constitution, our history, and our Armed Forces, yet it doesn't represent our government, which is dominated by people hostile to everything it stands for. This is why Old Glory strikes the eye as a jarringly artificial prop when used as a backdrop by our progressive rulers. It's also why the militant moonbats infesting government schools hate it so vehemently. From Taxachusetts:

A civil rights controversy is brewing at an elementary school in the Town of Orange, and it all surrounds an 11 year-old's drawing of the American Flag.
The family of Frankie Girard is claiming that their son's civil rights were violated after a teacher allegedly told him that hanging his picture of the American flag would offend another student.
The Butterfield Elementary School is at the center of controversy for the incident on Monday. According to Frankie Girard's father, John, the boy was in art class drawing a picture.
"He was denied hanging the flag up. And, he asked if he could just even hang it on his desk, and he was told no. He could take the picture that he drew and take it home and be proud of it there," Girard said.
So, that is where it is, among the hundreds of other family pictures and military honors that adorn the walls of the Girard family home.

The educrats running the school deny everything. But that hasn't stopped a local Air National Guard unit serving in Iraq from hanging a flag in Frankie's honor. Afterwards the flag will be sent to Frankie in tribute to his courage in standing up for his country against its enemies at a very young age.

Obama's Explanation of the Unemployment He Is Causing

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:03 AM

Mark Knoller of CBS reports that Obama is blaming the high unemployment rate on imaginary "huge layoffs of government workers" at the federal, state, and local levels. That is, the problem is that the government that has grown explosively for the past two years isn't vast enough.

Back on planet earth, it is the growth of government that is causing unemployment, because paying parasitical bureaucrats to regulate us costs money that is drained out of the free economy like blood from a vampire's victim, killing jobs that would actually produce wealth. Islam + Socialism = Dying in a Ditch

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:03 AM

The two greatest threats to liberty are socialism and Islam. Here's what you get when you put the two together:

The newspaper Asr-e Iran reported that passersby spotted two patients in a field outside of Tehran. The two patients were hospitalized in the state funded Khomeini Hospital. Despite being public and allegedly free, they were loaded in an ambulance and dropped in a field for not having the money to pay the bills.

Funny you never see that happening in cold-hearted capitalist America. All comers are treated, even those in the country illegally who regard emergency rooms as free family doctor offices.

Meanwhile, Iran is providing free healthcare in Lebanon through Hezbollah, to help it win over the population. Once control is absolute, sick Lebanese will join Iranians by the roadside.

There's a lesson here for Americans. It will be driven home after ObamaCare eventually results in total government control of the healthcare system as planned.

Energy-Saving Light Bulbs Burst Into Flames

Government-mandated flickering curlicue bulbs will help enrich bureaucrats' crony capitalist bankrollers at General Electric, and of course they modulate the weather on behalf of the polar bears, but in addition to containing toxic mercury they can set your house on fire:

After one of its lightbulbs started a house fire, Telstar has recalled 317,000 lightbulbs sold under the Telstar and Electra brand names. One of the lightbulbs also caused a fire in a light fixture. … Made in China by Telstar Products, the lightbulbs came in two configurations — spiral and 3-Us — and were sold in wattages ranging from 18 to 40.

Old Glory Deemed Impermissible by California Bureaucrats

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:08 PM

California's progressive rulers have decreed that the American flag is "impermissible":

In the town of Orcutt, California, thousands of dollars in donations have been gathered to create a monument to fallen soldiers and the branches of our military. The memorial would go between "a highway exit and a park-and-ride lot;" a pole would rise out of the center and display the American flag.
The California Department of Transportation was okay with the plan… that is, until it was revealed that our nation's flag would be flying. When CalTrans heard, they stymied the effort, declaring the display of an American flag an "impermissible act of 'public expression.'"
The panel that ruled that the American flag could not be displayed demanded "viewpoint neutrality" at the monument. In other words, they declared it illegal to solely fly the US flag, stating that other flags must also have the right to be flown at the memorial, be it "the British flag, the Nazi flag, or the Jolly Rogers."

Relativism — the liberal creed — dictates that there is no difference between those flags, even in the context of veterans who died fighting for what the America flag represented prior to Hope & Change. Consequently, according to their logic, Old Glory cannot be displayed unless every other flag that ever existed is also displayed.

An advantage of relativism is it only need be applied as appropriate to advance moonbat ideology. For example, all cultures are equal, except Western Civilization, which is bad. All flags are equal, but you won't see liberal bureauweenies suppressing this one:

Government Cameras Record What Kids Eat

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:59 AM

You can hardly blame Big Government for spending us to the edge of total economic collapse. It costs money to monitor and regulate every imaginable aspect of human behavior. For example, in a San Antonio elementary school, bureaucrats are installing high-tech cameras in the cafeteria to record what kids put on their lunch trays and how much they finish eating.

Digital imaging analysis of the snapshots will then calculate how many calories each student scarfed down. Local health officials said the program, funded by a U.S. Department of Agriculture grant, is the first of its kind in a U.S. school, and will be so precise that the technology can identify a half-eaten pear left on a lunch tray.

The kids will be paying for this themselves — plus interest, of course — since the money for this totalitarian lunacy was no doubt borrowed from the communist Chinese.

The point? Social engineering, as usual:

Researchers hope parents will change eating habits at home once they see what their kids are choosing in schools.

What they don't change voluntarily will eventually be changed for them by force — for their own good, of course.

San Francisco's "Social Justice" Contracts Are Expensive Farce

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:54 AM

There's a price to be paid for the sanctimonious idiocy liberals call "social justice." From the moonbat dystopia San Franfreakshow:

San Francisco's much-heralded "social justice" requirements for city contracts are costing local taxpayers millions of dollars a year in overcharges, according to workers in departments ranging from the Municipal Transportation Agency to the Department of Emergency Management.
In one case, a Muni worker said the city paid $3,000 for a vehicle battery tray. Such parts can be found online for $12 to $300, depending on the type of vehicle. …
Other city purchasing policies, if followed, would mean paying about $240 for getting a copy of a key that actually cost a worker $1.35 to get done at a hardware store on his break, the employee said.

As always when Big Government is involved, honest businessmen are punished, whereas the dishonest are rewarded.

Some vendors are suspected of being little more than middlemen who comply with San Francisco's very specific requirements for contractors — like disclosing historic ties to slavery and providing domestic partner benefits… — then turn around and buy the products from companies that don't meet the restrictions, city officials acknowledge.

But the law serves its purpose, which is to help the authoritarian bureaucrats running San Fransicko posture self-righteously. As for cost, taxpayers still have some money left.

City Council Takes Control of Backyard Birdfeeders

The low-hanging fruit is long gone when it comes to finding new aspects of our lives for bureaucrats to micromanage. In Ohio, Cuyahoga Falls City Council is tightening its fist around backyard birdfeeders. The pretext is a parody of what you would expect:

Councilman Jerry James tells "There's a lot of seed that comes out on to the bird feeders, and they spill on to the ground, and the seeds that aren't eaten by the birds decay and then some birds will come and get them, and then they end up getting sick and dying."

Unregulated birdfeeders are hurtful to birds. What's the matter, don't you like birds?

James says his proposed ordinance would deal with the maintenance of the bird feeders, making sure that the overflow does not lay down on the ground, decay, and cause a problem.
Jerry James says odor is also a problem from the decaying bird seed.

Farmers Reduced by Obamunism to Using Oxen to Plow

Posted by Dave Blount at 2:03 PM

At the end of Atlas Shrugged, when runaway statist moonbattery has destroyed transportation, Americans are reduced to traveling by covered wagon. Also, farmers have to use oxen to plow their fields due to fuel prices having been driven through the stratosphere by government suppression of oil drilling. No wait, that second one is from reality under Obamunism:

When farmers Danielle and Matt Boerson realised they could no longer afford to run their tractors, they took the bull by the horns — and ditched them for oxen.
Soaring petrol prices had become so high that the couple, who run an 80-acre farm near Madison, Wisconsin, were forced to get rid of their two tractors, hay baler, plough and rotavator.

They learned how to plow with oxen from Dick Roosenberg, who developed the skill while working for the UN in West Africa. The idea was to help those Third World farmers who haven't been driven out of business by free food from do-gooders.

But his specialist knowledge is now enjoying a new wave of interest with farmers from Wisconsin to Alaska now joining his courses.
He is already teaching up to 20 farmers every weekend.

If only our return to 19th century technology were accompanied by a return to that era's respect for liberty and belief in Western Civilization. But we were on our way up then; as Barack Hussein Obama's election made clear, we're headed the other way now.

Obama Mocks Concept of Defending Border

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:04 PM

If the federal government has one legitimate duty that justifies its extravagantly expensive existence, it is to defend our national borders from foreign incursion. But here's what Barack Hussein Obama has to say on the issue.

President Barack Obama wants the Hispanic vote — and he wants it bad. How bad, and how far he is willing to go to pander to Hispanics was on full display yesterday as the president told a Texas crowd of supporters that those who want a secure American border, "…they'll never be satisfied." Obama went on to joke that those wanting a secure border might "…say we need a moat. Or alligators in the moat."

This smirking punk has been made President of the United States. Happy now, liberals?

What we need is not a moat, alligators, or snide jokes from an adolescent jackass but a government willing to defend our borders. Since we don't have one, but only a gang of Marxist looters who are spending the country into insolvency, the hostile colonization of the Southwest by Mexico will continue to escalate. Our rulers are fine with this; the more millions of Mexicans on welfare, the tighter their grip on power.

This is why they are planning to slam us with amnesty for the illegal aliens they allowed in, a step that will drive welfare spending into the stratosphere, increase unemployment, and officially open the floodgates to Third World colonists in search of a meal ticket at the expense of the dying remnants of America.

Obama Regime Moves to Kill Boeing Plant in South Carolina

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:29 AM

Anyone who doubts that Atlas Shrugged is not so much fiction as an alarmingly accurate prediction of where left-wing authoritarianism would take America needs to read the plea for sanity from Boeing President and CEO Jim McNerney in today's Wall Street Journal:

Deep into the recent recession, Boeing decided to invest more than $1 billion in a new factory in South Carolina. Surging global demand for our innovative, new 787 Dreamliner exceeded what we could build on one production line and we needed to open another.
This was good news for Boeing and for the economy. The new jetliner assembly plant would be the first one built in the U.S. in 40 years. It would create new American jobs at a time when most employers are hunkered down. It would expand the domestic footprint of the nation's leading exporter and make it more competitive against emerging plane makers from China, Russia and elsewhere. And it would bring hope to a state burdened by double-digit unemployment — with the construction phase alone estimated to create more than 9,000 total jobs.
Eighteen months later, a North Charleston swamp has been transformed into a state-of-the-art, green-energy powered, 1.2 million square-foot airplane assembly plant. One thousand new workers are hired and being trained to start building planes in July.

Naturally this sort of outrage against The People will not be permitted under Obamunism.

[T]he National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) believes it was a mistake and that our actions were unlawful. It claims we improperly transferred existing work, and that our decision reflected "animus" and constituted "retaliation" against union-represented employees in Washington state. Its remedy: Reverse course, Boeing, and build the assembly line where we tell you to build it.
The NLRB is wrong and has far overreached its authority. Its action is a fundamental assault on the capitalist principles that have sustained America's competitiveness since it became the world's largest economy nearly 140 years ago. We've made a rational, legal business decision about the allocation of our capital and the placement of new work within the U.S. We're confident the federal courts will reject the claim, but only after a significant and unnecessary expense to taxpayers.

I wouldn't be so confident. True, Boeing's union contracts expressly permit the company to locate new work at its discretion. True, no existing work is being transferred to South Carolina. True, in a free country it would be absolutely no business of federal bureauweenies where Boeing builds its factories.

But it's also true the courts are falling increasingly under the control of the same authoritarian leftists who issue demented dictates from the White House on behalf of the Democrat Party's union financiers. South Carolina is loathed by the left as a right to work state populated by racist redneck yahoos, as our liberal overlords characterize conservatives.

The implications go far beyond Obama killing thousands more jobs in South Carolina:

The world the NLRB wants to create with its complaint would effectively prevent all companies from placing new plants in right-to-work states if they have existing plants in unionized states.

The embers of liberty have not yet been completely extinguished in right to work states, so naturally Comrade Obama wants to punish them. But as with all government interventions, there will be unintended consequences:

[F]orward-thinking CEOs also would be reluctant to place new plants in unionized states — lest they be forever restricted from placing future plants elsewhere across the country.

The solution: build the plants overseas, where you don't have unions and the malevolent obscenity calling itself the federal government to deal with.

There's a reason people are dirt poor in crappy South American dictatorships. It isn't possible to do business in a country run by a Marxist thug like Evo Morales or Hugo Chavez — or Barack Hussein Obama.

This isn't a problem to the government, which learned from FDR that the higher it keeps unemployment, the more of our freedom it can get away with snuffing out.

High unemployment is part of the plan. Via Common Cents.

Dhimmi of the Month Award

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:29 AM

The award for dhimmitude below and beyond the call of political correctness goes to American Airlines, which offers this on its website under "Diversity & Inclusion > Our Employees > Featured Employee":

Adnan Syed believes that his primary purpose in life is to serve humanity, and that's what the Information Technology team leader at American Airlines strives to do. In his spare time, Syed serves on the national board of the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA). ICNA is a multicultural organization that addresses the basic needs of underserved communities in the United States, providing food, shelter, and disaster relief. "We did extensive work in New Orleans after Katrina," Syed cites as just one of ICNA's many efforts. One of ICNA's priorities is to create opportunities for families to lead productive lives, believing that when given the right tools, people will thrive and bring about positive change in their lives and communities. ICNA also provides education about the Islamic faith. Many families supported by ICNA in North Texas are refugees from other countries. Syed tells the story of a refugee boy, approximately six years old, who stole food for his family. When asked why, the boy said he and his family had not eaten in five days. "I thought, How can this happen in America?" Syed says. "We should be prepared to deal with hunger and homelessness. ICNA has a program called Feeding the Hungry, which includes community food drives and food pantries." The organization has opened a shelter for women in New York City and a free medical clinic in Atlanta, and Syed says the organization plans to expand to more cities. "My faith is Islam, which teaches that we are here for a purpose: to take care of others," says Syed. "When we go to sleep at night, we must know we have done something to provide for others, not just for ourselves." To learn more, go to

Like many Islamic "charities" with mawkishly politically correct public images, the Islamic Circle of North America has funneled money to the blood-drenched terror cult Hamas.

Two of the four airlines hijacked on 9/11 by Syed's Muslim brothers were American Airlines flights. What's next, posthumous awards for the hijackers?

Adnan Syed, cuddly Muslim.

Tangled in Red Tape, Government Workers Look on as Boy Drowns

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:31 AM

If you're in danger of drowning, hope that there's someone around to save you who doesn't work for the government. From Everett, Washington:

Witnesses say 13-year-old Austin Anglin was trapped underneath his family's boat for about 40 agonizing minutes before Coast Guard crews pulled him out of the water. For at least some of that time boats from several agencies could do little more than sit and watch, frustrating his helpless loved ones.
"I looked over at the game warden's boat and there were four people standing there in life jackets on the edge of the boat as I was telling them there's a boy under the boat," said Tony Edwards. "They did absolutely nothing."
The two other agencies on the water, Tulalip Fire and Washington Fish & Wildlife did not have divers on board their boats.
The Everett Police Department's Marine Unit — including two divers — was on the scene, but they didn't go into the water because they did not have dive gear, nor rescue training.

No doubt their union contract forbids getting wet without their dive gear.

Everett Police refused an on-camera interview but told us their marine unit is not a search and rescue team. It's a search and recovery unit.

So naturally they had to wait to be sure the boy was dead, so they could recover him.

Also, on Saturday the team was working an "enforcement detail," meaning they were out to write tickets as boating season kicked off around Puget Sound.

Too bad no one thought to tell them that Austin was drowning without a license. They would have pulled him up to write him a ticket.

This mentality will now be imposed in hospitals, as Big Government consolidates control over the healthcare system.

Moonbat Revisionism Targets Lone Ranger

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:28 AM

Running short of iconic comic book heroes to convert into moonbats (see here and here and here and here and here), our leftist cultural nomenklatura turns its attention to the Lone Ranger:

Actor Johnny Depp, who is developing the movie version of "The Lone Ranger" with his "Pirates of the Caribbean" director Gore Verbinski, wants someone other than the guy wearing a white hat calling the shots.
"I remember watching it as a kid, with Jay Silverheels and Clayton Moore, and going: 'Why is the f***ing Lone Ranger telling Tonto what to do?'" Depp told Entertainment Weekly about the durable black & white Western TV series that ran in reruns well through the 70s.

The Lone Ranger project would allow Hollyweird yet another opportunity to insult its audience and grind its repugnant ideology in our faces.

"When the idea came up (for the movie), I started thinking about Tonto and what could be done in my own small way try to — 'eliminate' isn't possible — but reinvent the relationship," Depp said. "To attempt to take some of the ugliness thrown on the Native Americans, not only in 'The Lone Ranger,' but the way Indians were treated throughout history of cinema, and turn it on its head."

Like Ward Churchill, Depp claims to be an Indian himself:

"I guess I have some Native American somewhere down the line," he said. "My great grandmother was quite a bit of Native American, she grew up Cherokee or maybe Creek Indian. Makes sense in terms of coming from Kentucky, which is rife with Cherokee and Creek."
Depp even believes that his Native American blood helped to shape his own mercurial personality. "(When you) go back and read the great books, Dee Brown's 'Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee' or (John Ehle's) 'Trail of Tears,' you have to think, somewhere along the line, I'm the product of some horrific rape," he said. "You just have that little sliver in your chemical makeup."

European blood is likely to form a far more substantial percentage of Depp's chemical makeup, yet that doesn't inspire any positive feelings toward Western Civilization.

Depp illustrates why no one has made a decent Western since Sergio Leone. The Wild West symbolized all that was great about America. Hollywood epitomizes all that's vile about what liberalism is reducing it to.

Tucson Moonbats Demand Their Own State

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:26 AM

Great news for my fellow Phoenicians — the moonbats dominating Pima County, Arizona are in such a petulant funk at finding themselves in a state that grows more conservative by the year that they want to secede:

A group of lawyers from the Democratic stronghold of Tucson and surrounding Pima County have launched a petition drive seeking support for a November 2012 ballot question on whether the 48th state should be divided in two.
The ultimate goal of the newly formed political action committee Start our State is to split Pima County off into what would become the nation's 51st state, tentatively dubbed Baja Arizona.

Fortunately for any patriots who find themselves behind enemy lines, the movement is only a juvenile gesture unlikely to produce lasting results — the political equivalent of a bratty child threatening to hold his breath until he turns blue.

State lawmaker Ted Vogt, a Republican who represents about one-fifth of Pima County residents, dismissed the breakaway movement as posturing by disgruntled Democrats who see themselves losing clout in state politics.

Even in Pima County, largely populated by Reconquistadors and University of Arizona coffee shop communists, Obamunism has been driving Arizona ever further to the right.

Tucson's best-known Democrat, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, had to fight tooth and nail to fend of a Republican challenge in her bid for a third term in November.

Similarly, the securely entrenched Rep. Raul Grijalva, co-chair of the ultra-left Progressive Caucus, was nearly unseated by the plucky but inexperienced conservative Ruth McClung. Considering that his treasonous impulses inspired Grijalva to call for a boycott of Arizona, he would make a suitable governor for the breakaway state.

The modern concept of Baja Arizona dates back to 1965, according to Hugh Holub, a local attorney widely credited with coining the term that year during anti-war protests at the University of Arizona. He supports the current effort.
"It sure sends a message to the rest of the world that we aren't like the folks in Maricopa (County)," he said, referring to the state's population center and capital [i.e., more conservative greater Phoenix].

That you aren't, Hullaballoo.

Homosexual Militants Present Their Charming Arguments

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:35 PM

If you've ever wondered why militant homosexuals and their supporters have pushed so hard to criminalize disliking them, this video makes it clear. Warning: it features little kids coached into dropping the F-bomb and moonbats so repulsive that only those with the sturdiest stomachs will be able to watch for more than a minute.

Now why would Tennessee want to limit the pro-homosexuality proselytizing that takes place in public schools?

Poetry in the Age of Obama

Posted by Dave Blount at 3:03 PM

The Daily Caller recalls a poetry evening Laura Bush tried to hold as First Lady:

Back in 2003, First Lady Laura Bush held a poetry evening, and she invited several poets to reprise the work of Emily Dickinson, Langston Hughes and Walt Whitman. Although none of those poets had urged violence against a president, Bush canceled the event after left-of-center poets protested and threatened to disrupt the event.

No one is likely to cause disruptions now that the Bitter Half is in charge of such events.

First Lady Michelle Obama has scheduled a poetry evening for Wednesday, and she's invited several poets, including a successful Chicago poet and rapper, Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr., AKA "Common." However, Lynn is quite controversial, in part because his poetry includes threats to shoot police and at least one passage calling for the "burn[ing]" of then-President George W. Bush.

Here's an example of Common's "poetry" from the days of W:

A Letter to the Law
Dem boy wanna talk… [indistinguishable]
Whatcha gon do if ya got one gun?
I sing a song for the hero unsung
with faces on the mural of the revolution
No looking back cos' in back is what's done
Tell the preacher, God got more than one son
Tell the law, my Uzi weighs a ton
I walk like a warrior,
from them I won't run
On the streets, they try to beat us like a drum
In Cincinnati, another brother hung
A guinea won't see the sun
with his family stung
They want us to hold justice
but you handed me none
The same they did to Kobe and Michael Jackson
make them the main attraction
Turn around and attack them
Black gem in the rough
You're rugged enough
Use your mind and nine-power, get the government touch
Them boys chat-chat on how him pop gun
I got the black strap to make the cops run
They watching me, I'm watching them
Them dick boys got a lock of cock in them
My people on the block got a lot of pok* in them
and when we roll together
we be rocking them to sleep
No time for that, because there's things to be done
Stay true to what I do so the youth dream come
from project building
Seeing a fiend being hung
With that happening, why they messing with Saddam?
Burn a Bush cos' for peace he no push no button
Killing over oil and grease
no weapons of destruction
How can we follow a leader when this a corrupt one
The government's a g-unit and they might buck young black people
Black people In the urban area one
I hold up a peace sign, but I carry a gun.
Peace, ya'll.

This is the culture promoted by our government.

US Navy Suffers Crushing Defeat

Posted by Dave Blount at 1:04 PM

In the age of asymmetrical warfare, the US military's only defeats are inflicted from within. Unfortunately, that makes them all the more debilitating.

Anticipating the elimination of the military ban on homosexuality, the Office of the Chief of Navy Chaplains has decided that same-sex couples in the Navy will be able to get married in Navy chapels, and that Navy chaplains will be allowed to perform the ceremonies — if homosexual marriage is legal in the state where the unions are to be performed.
The advisory came in the form of an April 13 memo issued to all chaplains, in which the Chief of Navy Chaplains, Admiral Michael Tidd, said the Chaplain Corps was revising its Tier I training manuals, which had previously indicated that same-sex marriages are not authorized on federal property.

Fortunately the war isn't over quite yet:

Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, is concerned that, in its haste to "hustle-in homosexuality," the Navy may be violating federal law — the Defense of Marriage Act.
"Offering up federal facilities and federal employees for same-sex marriage violates DOMA, which is still the law of the land and is bound to the duties of our military, including chaplains," Steve Taylor, communications director for Akin, told

However, rule by liberals means that laws that don't fit the agenda are ignored. There are laws against illegal immigration, but they certainly aren't preventing the Southwest from being aggressively colonized by Mexico. Attempt to enforce these laws and the Justice Department will crawl down your throat. That same Injustice Department refuses to uphold DOMA.

Unfolding events were predicted well in advance:

Tom McClusky, senior vice president of government relations at the Family Research Council … said conservatives had warned months ago that the push to repeal the military ban on homosexuality would lead to efforts to introduce same-sex marriage — but were dismissed at the time.

You don't have to be Nostradamus to make a few more predictions. Next will come lawsuits by homosexuals demanding special treatment and promotions. Soon after will follow forced acceptance of transsexual grotesquerie. Not long after that, the communist Chinese military, financed by interest payments on our government's debt, will graciously put the obscenity we're deteriorating into out of its misery — unless we take our country back and put a stop to the moonbattery.

Still More Toilet Tomfoolery

Remember the high-tech public toilets Seattle raised utility rates to finance planting around the city? They cost $5 million to erect and $360 per toilet per day to maintain, served mainly for junkies to shoot up in, and soon ended up on eBay. Across the border, Victoria, British Columbia has come up with a thankfully less expensive version:

The $60,000 facility isn't so much a bathroom appliance as a piece of public art. An automatic-flush stainless steel receptacle surrounded by a swirl of light-green tubes, it's "an attraction in itself," says Bruce Carter, CEO of the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce.

Anti-Obama Street Art Seen in Brooklyn

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:05 AM

If Comrade Obama loses his inner city hipster base, the bloom is truly off the rose for Hopey Change. Urban Infidel saw this on a lamppost in Williamsburg, Brooklyn:

She comments:

Barack Hussein Obama, truly the Frankenstein Monster of the Democrat Party. An ideological demonic creation stitched together with the dead and decomposing parts of failed ideas.

Dr. Frankenstein was destroyed by the monster that he created. Likewise, the liberal elite establishment that used its control of the media to install an anti-American radical in the White House will be destroyed by its creation: by collectivist hard tyranny if Obama succeeds, by the same backlash that gave us the Tea Party if he doesn't.

Of course, the poster's creator is probably just annoyed that Osama bin Laden wasn't brought to Washington to be put in charge of a new Department of Muslim Outreach. But any slippage among Obama's base is encouraging, because if he feels compelled to remind them who he really is before 2012, he'll be reminding independents too.

Air Force Academy Opens Pagan Prayer Circle

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:04 AM

According to Politico, "military spending cuts are a top White House priority." But that doesn't mean there won't be funds for crucial projects, like a neo-Pagan prayer circle at the Air Force Academy in Colorado.

Rejoices the academy's superintendent Lt Gen Michael Gould:

'Nowhere except for the United States of America would this be possible.'

The world Alice found down the rabbit hole doesn't count, because it isn't real. But then, what liberal control will transform the military into isn't exactly real either, except in the bizarre fantasies of social engineers who imagine they can supplant Christianity with goofy New Age mysticism.

According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, the academy is home to about ten cadets who regularly attend 'earth-centred' worship groups which include New Age religion, paganism, Wicca, druids and ancient Norse beliefs. …
Security is tight at the site and there are several cameras surrounding the circle of stones with several signs warning that it is under surveillance.

The combination of fuzzy-headed flakiness and omnipresent surveillance reminds us that under progessives, the military is not for winning wars, but for testing out the future our moonbat rulers have planned for us.

Johnathan Perkins, Privileged Victim of Make-Believe Racism

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:55 AM

University of Virginia law school student of African-Americanishness Johnathan Perkins has made a contribution to the vast and ever-expanding store of phony hate crimes. His terrifying tale:

Perkins made his allegations in a letter to the editor of the U.Va. law school's student newspaper, Virginia Law Weekly. He sent a copy to the university's police department, which treated the essay as a formal complaint. Perkins described walking home from a bar review session and being stopped by the flashing lights of a University of Virginia police car. Two white officers, he said, questioned him, told him that he "fit the description of someone we're looking for," made fun of him as a law student, frisked and searched him, refused to give their names and badge numbers, and then followed him home after saying he was free to leave.

How awful. To quote Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) (when discussing American troops at Club Gitmo), "you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime — Pol Pot or others — that had no concern for human beings."

Fortunately, Perkins made the whole thing up.

As soon as the letter was published, the university's police department began an investigation, bringing in some outside experts to assist. […After the tall tale fell apart,] the university released a statement announcing that the investigation found that Perkins had made up the story. The university's statement (not available on the university's website, but posted on the Virginia Law Weekly's Facebook page) quoted Perkins (without naming him) as saying that he fabricated the story. "I wrote the article to bring attention to the topic of police misconduct," he said in a written statement. "The events in the article did not occur."

When moonbats of color are forced to invent such humdrum stories to remind us how oppressed we're supposed to pretend they are, it's time to drop the whole charade and turn our attention to the very real discrimination systematically imposed against those of us who aren't minorities.

Naturally no charges are being pressed against Perkins. It would be racist to expect the oppressed to answer for their behavior. Chief of Police Michael A. Gibson obsequiously bleated:

"I recognize that police misconduct does occur. Pressing charges in this case might inhibit another individual who experiences real police misconduct from coming forward with a complaint. I want to send the message just how seriously we take such charges and that we will always investigate them with care and diligence."

Police brass, like military brass, must be beholden to political correctness to reach the top. So the rank and file are always treated as if they are guilty.

The University of Virginia has an honor code. So much as telling a lie is grounds for expulsion, leave alone lying to the whole school and sending the police on a wild goose chase. But it would be racist to expect the oppressed to live by honor codes, so Perkins will not be expelled. More important to UV than its honor code is its commitment to Affirmative Action.

Hopefully no one is missing the irony of Perkins's stunt confirming that not only are blacks not oppressed, they are pampered with privileged treatment to the point of absurdity.

Johnathan Perkins.

Obama Regime Stonewalls Investigation Into Gun Running Outrage

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:21 AM

The "mainstream" media has been trying to suppress the story; but then, it initially tried to suppress Monica Lewinsky too. In the age of the Internet, nothing as explosive as the federal government attempting to cover up a program to undercut the Second Amendment by facilitating the illegal traffic of American guns into the hands of Mexican criminals can be hushed up forever — especially not when these guns have been used to kill a Border Patrol agent. Here's an update on Senator Chuck Grassley's efforts to get over the Clintonesque stone wall:

U.S. Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, has sent 10 letters to the U.S. Department of Justice seeking answers about how 1,700 firearms were allowed to be sold and smuggled illegally into Mexico.
He has received five letters in response, two of which contradict evidence he's received from whistleblowers in the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives who were involved in Operation Fast and Furious.
But earlier this week, the senator, ranking member of the Judiciary Committee, had the chance to face the department's head Attorney General Eric Holder and get the answers that have been lacking. Instead, he was left again feeling ignored.
"I didn't get a lot of answers from him either," Grassley said during a conference call with reporters after the hearing with Holder.
Grassley, who first raised this concern with the operation nearly four months ago, believes he's being ignored either because the Justice Department doesn't feel the need to respond to a member of the minority party or because if it did respond adequately, it would admit guilt.

Another reason Grassley is being ignored is that Holder and his boss Obama have the media on their side; otherwise the punk in the White House would be in the process of getting hounded out of office by now.

Grassley notes that apparently "our own government knowingly participated in arming criminals, drug cartels, and those who later killed federal agents."

Left-wing partisans have so thoroughly destroyed the establishment media that this is not considered newsworthy. But sooner or later this bombshell will become widely known to the public.

Why Saving Lives by Waterboarding Is Horrible but Blowing People's Brains Out Is Okay

Why is it okay to shoot the unarmed Osama bin Laden, but not okay to waterboard 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed? After all, most people would prefer a procedure that military personnel undergo as part of their training to having their brains blown out. Britain Defines Belief in Government Propaganda as a Religious Faith

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:11 PM

The moonbats dismantling Britain continue to push the envelope of absurdity ever farther beyond the limits of any normal person's imagination. Now they have ruled that support for coercively financed, government-controlled news media is a religious faith comparable to Christianity:

Rules to prevent religious discrimination can now also be used to protect a belief in the BBC's ethos of public service broadcasting, a tribunal has ruled.

This clears the way for a lawsuit by one Devan Maistry, who wails that he was fired because of his mystical faith that "public service broadcasting has the higher purpose of promoting cultural interchange and social cohesion."

This brand of insanity has been seen in Britain before:

Two years ago, a tribunal found that company executive Tim Nicholson, a firm believer in climate change, was wrongly dismissed after objecting to his company's use of flights and cars.
That case set a precedent and, this year, animal rights activist Joe Hashman successfully argued that he was wrongly sacked from his garden centre job after his activities were discovered.

The purpose is not only to reward moonbats and punish those who disagree with them, but to re-enforce the government's control over employer–employee relationships that are none of its business, and to officially degrade Christianity to the status of a moronic opinion — although in reality Christianity has been reduced to a much lower level:

Most recently, a couple were told they were unfit to foster children because they could not in conscience tell a child that it was OK to be homosexual.

The more power government has, the more it will be abused to advance malevolent social engineering.

Winnie the Pooh Found Guilty of Gender Inequality

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:06 AM

Education requires coercive public funding because academics address crucial issues that the free market would ignore — for example, the alleged gender incorrectness of Winnie the Pooh:

A comprehensive study of traditional children's book characters has determined that Pooh Corner may be rife with gender inequality.
Dr. Janice McCabe, a sociologist at Florida State University, examined nearly 6,000 children's books between 1900 and 2000 and determined the stories have a definitive gender bias and a disproportionate representation of genders.
"We found that males are represented more frequently than females in the titles and the central characters in the book," McCabe told Fox News Radio.

Professor McCabe has been doing more with her no doubt expensive time than reading children's books.

McCabe said the pattern also exists in other children's media including cartoons, coloring books, and G-rated films.

Speaking of proportional representation, I wonder if they'll ever do a study on the disproportionate levels of moonbats and nitwits on college faculties.

Careful, Prof. McCabe. Winnie has pull.

San Francisco Landlords Go Galt

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:52 AM

Believing that housing should be provided at someone else's expense, progressives are no friends of landlords, whom they persecute at every opportunity. Imagine how much fun it must be to provide people an opportunity to rent homes in a city completely run by moonbats — namely San Francisco. Some landlords have had enough:

In San Francisco, one of the toughest places in the country to find a place to live, more than 31,000 housing units — one of every 12 — now sit vacant, according to recently released census data. That's the highest vacancy rate in the region, and a 70 percent increase from a decade ago.

The reason: liberal bureaucrats place such absurd restrictions on raising rent and evicting tenants that property owners (if there is such a thing under liberal tyranny) are going Galt.

Increasingly, small-time landlords like [Wayne] Koniuk [who has been prevented by landlord restrictions from freeing up a room for his own son in his own building] are just giving up. One of his Divisadero Street neighbors has left two large apartments on the second and third floors of her building vacant for more than a decade, after a series of tenant difficulties. It's just not worth the bother, or the risk, of being legally tied to a tenant for decades.
"Vacancy rates are going up because owners have decided to take their units off the market," said Ross Mirkarimi, a progressive member of the Board of Supervisors. He attributes that response to "peaking frustrations in dealing with the range of laws that protect tenants in San Francisco that make it difficult for small property owners to thrive."
Perversely, that is hurting the city's renters as well, as a large percentage of the city's housing stock is allowed to just sit vacant, driving up rents that newcomers pay for market-rate housing.

Where you have government coercion, you will have ruinous consequences, even if they are often unintended. Where property rights are infringed, you will have injustice and waste. Yet no matter how many times this is proven, the liberal commitment to ham-fisted coercion remains inviolate. This is because coercion is not a means, but an end.

2 + 2 = We Must Raise Taxes Because White People Are Bad

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:20 AM

Since moonbattery is a totalitarian ideology, nothing escapes from its poisonous lies — not even mathematics. Teachers unsure how to pass off indoctrination in race-based Marxism (a.k.a. "social justice") as a math class can find resources to assist them at Radical Math:

There are at least two related ideas behind "Social Justice Math". The first is that you can use mathematics to teach and learn about issues of social and economic justice. The second is that you can learn math through the study of social justice issues….

A subspecies of Social Justice Math is "Ethnomathematics," defined as:

The study and celebration of mathematical practices from various countries and cultures from both historical and contemporary perspectives, including: symbolic systems, spatial designs, games and puzzles, calculation methods, measurement in time and space, architecture and design, problem solving, etc.

With all this important material to cover, it's no surprise if teachers don't get around to boring stuff like multiplication tables.

The Math Skills & Social Justice Topics Chart (Word doc) offers concrete suggestions for dressing up moonbat propaganda as math. For example:

Comparing how money spent on military operations could be used to support other important causes (ex: if a bomb costs $10 million and a it costs $10,000 to provide health care for an entire family for a year, how many families could get health care for the cost of this bomb).

Here's how geometry can be combined with "environmental justice":

Determine the density of toxic waste facilities, factories, dumps, etc, in the neighborhood.

By now it should be obvious why moonbats cannot be left in control of education. This means prying it out of the fist of Big Government and the unions that bankroll Democrat politicians.

Eventually progressive math will dispense with numbers altogether, replacing them with feelings.

The Democrat Party's manifesto has been set to music by a nuisance calling itself the Belle Brigade:

There will always be someone better than you
Even if you're the best
So let's stop the competition now
Or we will both be losers
And I'm ashamed I ever tried to be higher than the rest
But brother I am not alone
We've all tried to be on top of the world somehow
'Cause we have all been losers

That I spent so much time when I was young
Just trying to be the winner

I wanna make it known

Don't care about being a winner

No, no more, no
There will always be someone worse than you
Sister don't let it get to your head
'Cause you won't be on top of the world so long

This ain't about no one in particular
But I could list a few
I'm removing myself from the queue
Don't care about being a winner
Or being smooth with women
Or going out on Fridays

Don't care about being harder
Or being Daddy's favorite
Or if you think I'm a mimic
Or if I am a loser [etc. ad nauseam]

Don't try. Just lie in your crib like Stanley Thornton, sucking a pacifier and crapping in your diapers, and Big Government will take whatever you need from its rightful owners and hand to you with a ribbon on top. All you've got to do is vote.

Luntz Focus Group: Obama Deserves No Credit on Osama

To the "mainstream" media that installed Barack Hussein Obama in office: good luck getting the American people to credit the Manchurian Moonbat for the demise of his near-namesake; you're going to need it.

You can fool most of the people most of the time, but despite what our liberal elite rulers may think, we're not all idiots. Obama has gone out of his way to dismantle the Bush policies that led to lead through bin Laden's brain.

Condi Rice Punches Out Lawrence O'Donnell

MSNBC had better learn its lesson and not invite any more grownups on the air, so that they can't give the halfwit moonbat hosts a public drubbing like Condi Rice did to admitted socialist and smirking intellectual featherweight Lawrence O'Donnell. Via RedState:

RICE: You have just made a false statement. You said that we couldn't assemble a coalition. How many countries fought in the coalition in Iraq?
O'DONNELL: Actually fought and had casualties? Actually fought?
RICE: Yeah, how many.
O'DONNELL: Maybe half a dozen actually fought.
RICE: I see. So the Georgians who went there and the Japanese who went there and others —
O'DONNELL: Actually had soldiers firing weapons on the ground?
RICE: This was not part of the coalition. The people who — the British and the Australians and the Poles and all of those — the Canadians, all of those who were ultimately in Iraq, these were not part of the coalition?
O'DONNELL: Yes, they were.
RICE: Yeah. So your statement was just false.

Countries that contributed military forces to the American-led coalition in Iraq also include Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Romania, and South Korea.

Atlas Shrugged Rules Bestseller List

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:28 AM

Moonbats yelped with delight when Atlas Shrugged Part I — a relatively low budget effort with zero support from the entertainment establishment that was savaged or ignored by the liberal-controlled media — failed to shatter any box office records. Admittedly the movie fell flat in comparison to the hyper-charged book. But what gloating members of the looter class forget is that the book and the ideas to be found in it are the point; the movie was only a way of paying homage and drawing attention to them. To judge by the classic fiction bestseller rankings at Amazon, the mission was accomplished.

Of course, Barack Hussein Obama bringing the statist dystopia of Atlas Shrugged to life hasn't hurt sales either.

A Seat at the Table for Transgender Freakazoids

Posted by Dave Blount at 4:29 PM

Communist labor thug Andy Stern, Malik Shabazz of the New Black Panthers, and sinister ultra-left financier George Soros aren't the only ones with access to the pinnacle of power. There's also the militant transgender movement:

This past Friday, the Obama Administration became the first administration ever to host a meeting at the White House focusing exclusively on the discussion of federal policy related to "transgender" issues.

The Most Transparent Administration Ever refuses to say what went on at the meeting, but this gives an idea:

Mara Keisling, executive director of the National Center for Transgender Equality, revealed to the Blade that [his/her/its] organization had been invited to the meeting. [He/She/It] would not give any information about what specific policy issues [he/she/it] intended to raise, but commented that employment policy, access to health care, military policy and immigration detention standards were all issues of concern for [his/her/its] organization.

Employment policy means making it a federal crime to fire or even to refrain from hiring a weirdo who shows up for work in women's clothes. Healthcare means you get to pay for the pricey hormone treatments and choppadichophomy procedures the truly sick use to sexually disfigure themselves. Military policy means liberals will continue their campaign to reduce the Armed Forces to a grotesque social engineering laboratory. Immigration detention probably has to do with facilitating entry of degenerates spreading AIDS from abroad.

The Metrosexual Moonbat in Chief is on board with the agenda:

Obama has demonstrated his sympathy for transgender issues in the past, declaring June to be "National Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month." Last January, he also became the first President to select a transgender appointee when he named Amanda Simpson to the position of Senior Technical Advisor to the Department of Commerce.

Seeing transgender militants gather in the White House to collect leverage over the rest of us helps clarify what the Manchurian Moonbat means by the fundamental transformation of America.

Stanley Thornton, Liberal Avatar

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:16 AM

Just as the arrogant and unqualified oligarchical collectivist Barack Hussein Obama personifies the modern liberal politician, Stanley Thornton perfectly represents the increasingly infantile public that elected him:

Like any other baby, Stanley sleeps in a crib, wears diapers, and loves nothing better than being comforted by his mother as she bottle feeds him.
Except Stanley Thornton is 30-years-old - and his 'mother' is really his room-mate.
Mr Thornton seeks comfort in being treated like a baby, a condition known as paraphilic infantilism.
The 'adult baby' lives out his fantasies at his California apartment, where he has built himself a giant crib, play pen and even a man-sized high chair.
He spends his days playing with Lego as he sucks on his pacifier, and being spoon or bottle-fed by his room-mate Sandra Diaz, who willingly acts as his mother.

Who takes care of the bills? You do. Thornton lives off disability, claiming to have a heart condition.

That's okay Stanley. You don't need to work. Just suck on your pacifier, crap in your diapers, and Big Government will force someone else to pay for everything.

It's the Safety Net reduced to its purest essence.

Taking Out bin Laden: Dalai Lama For, Archbishop of Canterbury Against

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:57 AM

By reputation, Buddhists lean toward the flaky side. Yet even the Dalai Lama is far less of a moonbat than the dhimmi heading up the remnants of the Church of England. The demise of Osama bin Laden gave Rowan Williams another chance to side with Islam against civilization:

The Archbishop of Canterbury has said that the killing of an unarmed Osama bin Laden by US special forces left him with a "very uncomfortable feeling". … Asked about any moral justification for the al-Qaida leader's death in Pakistan, he [bleated]: "I think the killing of an unarmed man is always going to leave a very uncomfortable feeling, because it doesn't look as if justice is seen to be done."

In contrast,

On Monday a Vatican spokesman, Father Federico Lombardi, said that while Christians "do not rejoice" over a death, it serves to remind them of "each person's responsibility before God and men".

The Dalai Lama also struck a contrast to Williams:

Asked about bin Laden's death at an event in Los Angeles, where the Buddhist leader was at the start of a trip to five US states, he said the al-Qaeda chief may have deserved compassion and even forgiveness.
But, cited by the LA Times, he said: "Forgiveness doesn't mean forget what happened. If something is serious and it is necessary to take counter-measures, you have to take counter-measures."

The term counter-measures in this context means blowing the terrorist rat's brains across the wall. Well done, SEAL Team Six. As for Pigswilliams, he shouldn't be so sure that the Islamic crocodile will eat him last.

Taxing by the Mile

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:49 AM

The primary purpose of federal taxes is not to raise revenue. If it were, the Laffer Curve dictates that rates be lowered, as Reagan and JFK illustrated. Since Big Government prints all the money it wants, essentially taxing us through inflation, the only point of direction taxation is to exert control. That's why the Obama Regime has come up with a plan to tax drivers by the mile:

The plan is a part of the administration's Transportation Opportunities Act, an undated draft of which was obtained this week by Transportation Weekly. …
News of the draft follows a March Congressional Budget Office report that supported the idea of taxing drivers based on miles driven.
Among other things, CBO suggested that a vehicle miles traveled (VMT) tax could be tracked by installing electronic equipment on each car to determine how many miles were driven; payment could take place electronically at filling stations.

In addition to giving Big Government a pretext to install tracking devices on our cars, it will also give birth to yet another new bureaucracy devoted to looting us:

The CBO report was requested by Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad (D-N.D.), who has proposed taxing cars by the mile as a way to increase federal highway revenues.
The proposal seems to follow up on that idea in section 2218 of the draft bill. That section would create, within the Federal Highway Administration, a Surface Transportation Revenue Alternatives Office.

The liberal ruling class has made it clear at every opportunity that the less we drive, the better they like it. This is not because they are dumb enough to believe that driving your car makes it be too hot out for the polar bears, but because they are smart enough to understand that a mobile population is a difficult population to control. This explains why Comrade Obama has been driving up gas prices by going out of his way to suppress domestic production.

It also explains why the revenue raised would go toward Obama's high-speed rail boondoggle (PDF), which in addition to throwing our money at his union cronies has the advantage of allowing government to determine where we go and when.

No one traveled around the Third Reich or the Soviet Union without the proper papers. As our soft tyranny congeals into a hard one, transportation will become as critical an issue as disarming us and tightening control on the Internet.

Libraries Blow Money on Business Cards for Janitors in Illiterate Detroit

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:26 AM

Lyndon Johnson picked up where FDR left off in reducing the Land of the Free to a welfare slave state. An example of the ongoing damage that has been done by his malignant "Great Society" agenda is Detroit, a wealthy capital of industry prior to participating in his "Model Cities" program, which has been called America's "first great experiment in centralized urban planning." It is now a depopulated socialist hellhole that festers within the USA the way a metastasizing tumor exists inside a formerly healthy body.

News reports from the nation's most liberal city are like postcards from the future our progressive ruling class has planned for us. Recently we learned that the former Motor City was spending $1,092 apiece on chairs and $1,112.50 apiece on trash receptacles for a library. But what Detroiters would be doing in a library (other than gawping at online pornography) is a mystery, because now we learn that only half the population can read:

According to a new report, 47 percent of Detroiters are "functionally illiterate." The alarming new statistics were released by the Detroit Regional Workforce Fund on Wednesday.
WWJ Newsradio 950 spoke with the Fund's Director, Karen Tyler-Ruiz, who explained exactly what this means.
"Not able to fill out basic forms, for getting a job — those types of basic everyday (things). Reading a prescription; what's on the bottle, how many you should take… just your basic everyday tasks," she said.

Meanwhile, the obscene waste continues:

A purchase order from March 2010 showing the cash-strapped Detroit Public Library spent more than $6,500 to buy business cards for all its employees — including clerks and janitors who questioned why they need them.
Library spokesman A.J. Funchess said each employee got 250 cards "to be an ambassador to their communities."
"It shows everyone matters here at the library," Funchess said.

Liberal thieves are looting the world into destitution for the sake of the oozing warm treacle of their nauseatingly pious feel-good sentiments.

There's no reason to stop the maniacal spending, because when the last productive citizen escapes New Mogadishu, the state of Michigan will pick up the slack. When taxpayers run out of money statewide, Washington will step in. The Feds will never find themselves short of cash to waste, because they print their own.

When money has been inflated to worthlessness and the whole sickening spectacle collapses, America will be Detroit from coast to coast. Then the Democrat Party's work will be done; straightforward communists will take it from there.

Not All Pictures That Inflame Muslims Are Bad

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:37 AM

Mullah Obama has decreed that pictures of the dead Osama bin Laden shall not be released, lest Muslims be angered:

In explaining his choice not to release the photo, Mr. Obama said that "we don't need to spike the football." He said that "given the graphic nature of these photos it would create a national security risk."

But the Islamopanderer in Chief isn't always averse to releasing photos that might inflame Muslims. From last week:

President Barack Obama is to release up to 2,000 photographs of alleged abuse at American prisons in Iraq and Afghanistan in a move which will reignite the scandal surrounding Abu Ghraib prison in 2004.
The decision to make public the images sought in a legal action by the American Civil Liberties Union comes amid a political firestorm over alleged torture of detainees under President George W. Bush.
Some of the photographs, which will be released before May 28, are said to show American service personnel humiliating prisoners, according to officials. …
The Pentagon fears a backlash in the Middle East similar to the one provoked by pictures from Abu Ghraib prison, near Baghdad, in 2004 which became emblematic of American mistakes in Iraq.
Amrit Singh, an ACLU lawyer, said that "these photographs provide visual proof that prisoner abuse by US personnel was not aberrational but widespread, reaching far beyond the walls of Abu Ghraib".

Assisting the ACLU in demonizing the USA and whipping up Islamic bloodlust are par for the course with the Manchurian Moonbat. But pictures of a dead terrorist must be suppressed in the interests of security. Anyone who buys this deserves Obama for a president.

In lieu of pictures of dead bin Laden, we'll get 2,000 more of these.

Did Leon Panetta Send Order to Take Out Osama Rather Than Obama?

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:11 AM

Gutsy? Please. A White House insider offers a peek behind the scenes regarding the no-brainer decision to take out bin Laden:

President Obama was, in this case, as in all others, working as an absentee president. … [T]here had been a push to invade the compound for several weeks if not months, primarily led by Leon Panetta, Hillary Clinton, Robert Gates, David Petraeus, and Jim Clapper. The primary opposition to this plan originated from Valerie Jarrett, and it was her opposition that was enough to create uncertainty within President Obama. … Every time military and intelligence officials appeared to make progress in [getting Obama to take] a position, Jarrett would intervene and the stalling would begin again.

Once again Chairman Zero was voting "present" — present in a Chauncey Gardiner sense, that is.

CIA Chief Leon Panetta took initiative to make something happen before bin Laden could escape.

Panetta indicated to Obama that leaks regarding knowledge of Osama Bin Laden's location were certain to get out sooner rather than later, and action must be taken by the administration or the public backlash to the president's inaction would be "…significant to the point of political debilitation." It was at that time that Obama stated an on-ground campaign would be far more acceptable to him than a bombing raid. This was intended as a stalling tactic, and it had originated from Jarrett. Such a campaign would take both time, and present a far greater risk of failure. The president had been instructed by Jarrett to inform Mr. Panetta that he would have sole discretion to act against the Osama Bin Laden compound. Jarrett believed this would further delay Panetta from acting, as the responsibility for failure would then fall almost entirely on him. What Valerie Jarrett, and the president, did not know is that Leon Panetta had already initiated a program that reported to him — and only him, involving a covert on the ground attack against the compound. Basically, the whole damn operation was already ready to go — including the specific team support Intel necessary to engage the enemy within hours of being given notice. Panetta then made plans to proceed with an on-ground assault. This information reached either Hillary Clinton or Robert Gates first (likely via military contacts directly associated with the impending mission) who then informed the other. Those two then met with Panetta, who informed each of them he had been given the authority by the president to proceed with a mission if the opportunity presented itself. Both Gates and Clinton warned Panetta of the implications of that authority — namely he was possibly being made into a scapegoat. Panetta admitted that possibility, but felt the opportunity to get Bin Laden outweighed that risk.

The only way our "gutsy" president would stay out of the way long enough for the grownups to take action was if he had someone lined up to blame in case something went wrong.

[Obama] was not informed of the engagement order — it did not originate from him, and for several hours after the order had been given and the special ops forces were preparing for action into Pakistan from their position in Afghanistan, [White House Chief of Staff Bill] Daley successfully kept Obama and Jarrett insulated from that order. …
Leon Panetta was directing the operation with both his own CIA operatives, as well as direct contacts with military — both entities were reporting to Panetta only at this point, and not the President of the United States. — The operation was at this time effectively unknown to President Barack Obama or Valerie Jarrett and it remained that way until AFTER it had already been initiated. President Obama was literally pulled from a golf outing and escorted back to the White House to be informed of the mission. Upon his arrival there was a briefing held which included Bill Daley, John Brennan, and a high ranking member of the military. When Obama emerged from the briefing, he was described as looking "very confused and uncertain." The president was then placed in the situation room where several of the players in this event had already been watching the operation unfold. … The now famous photo released shows the particulars of that room and its occupants. What that photo does not communicate directly is that the military personnel present in that room during the operation unfolding, deferred to either Hillary Clinton or Robert Gates. The president's role was minimal, including their acknowledging of his presence in the room.

Anonymous sources deserve skepticism, but the report does ring true. If this is how it happened, it's a good thing we have a career bureaucrat with a little spine even if no intelligence experience prior to 2009 to make the call and set himself up to take the fall while our posturing Community Organizer in Chief vacillates and covers his scrawny behind.

A farce, like the rest of this presidency. Via Nice Deb.

NYC May Impose Necktie Ban

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:08 AM

The authoritarian nanny state of New York City has reached the point where it is almost impossible for bureauweenies to find new things to ban. They've become so desperate, they may resort to forbidding neckties:

Some New York lawmakers are proposing a law that would prohibit doctors from wearing neckties while working.
The proposal quotes a study that shows bacteria may build-up on neckties and lead to infection.
The Independent Democratic Conference in the state Senate is calling for the legislation to readdress what they consider a fashion emergency.

One place where bacteria really does build up is in the reusable shopping bags libs would like to impose. But being moonbatty, those will still be legal until after Demorrhoids have outlawed grocery stores.

Indians Finally Find an Excuse to Be Offended

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:53 AM

The SEALs used an apt code name for Osama bin Laden; they called him Geronimo, after the Apache warrior who was an enemy of the USA (and Mexico) and famously hard to find. But this isn't going over well with racial grievance snivelers, who have been waiting for so many generations for somebody to insult Indians that they're ready to burst into tears at even the most preposterous pretext:

Geronimo: The U.S. Senate Indian Affairs Committee didn't know when it scheduled a hearing on racial stereotypes that members would have such an emotionally charged name to discuss. But the use of the Apache leader's moniker as a code name for Osama bin Laden has appalled many Native Americans and drawn calls for an apology. …
Many Native Americans say that while they are angered, they are not surprised. They say the code name is yet another insult in a long, tumultuous history with the federal government.

Meanwhile, back in the funhouse that passes for reality in Washington, the House of Representatives passed a bill in 2009 honoring Geronimo for the bravery he exhibited while killing Americans.

Geronimo probably wouldn't have burst into tears.

Conservative Win in Canada Is Great News for Energy, Overall Economy

While Barack Hussein Obama's regime advances the radical left agenda by waging war on the American energy sector on multiple fronts (see here and here and here and here and here and here and here), Conservatives' big win in Canada means our northern neighbor will be headed in the opposite direction:

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, now backed by a powerful parliamentary majority, said on Tuesday the energy sector can rest easy that his government will not impede plans to vastly expand the country's oil sands output and ship some of the crude to Asia.
Harper, in his Western Canadian home base of Calgary on the morning after his Conservatives won big in the federal election, singled out the Western-based oil industry as being a beneficiary of his party's pro-business agenda, which will also include corporate tax cuts and deficit reduction. Investors greeted the result with relief.

Historically, it has been smelly hippies who left the USA for Canada, to avoid fighting for their country or because America isn't moonbatty enough for them. In the tape, recorded during a criminal justice class, Richards can be heard encouraging a female student to sign the recall petition even though she thinks she lives outside the district, and instructing students to sign using their campus address instead of their parents' home address. He also tells students to look for petition circulators all around campus and "in the bars."

Here's the audio.

At least Richards can bring some personal experience to his criminal justice class, being an ex-con. But students shouldn't expect to learn facts — at least, not true facts:

As the Professor discusses the various reasons he supports the recall efforts, he promotes several falsehoods about the effects of the budget repair bill, saying at one point "It will be a lot less, um, rewarding to be in law enforcement, because they're gonna cut all the police unions."

That is, the students who pay or whose parents pay big money for an education are being fed lies to advance a toxic left-wing agenda.

One has to wonder if this is an isolated incident or a more common occurrence in our state's classrooms.

You don't have to wonder — and it isn't just Wisconsin whose classrooms are rotten with moonbattery.

Liberals teach criminal justice from the criminals' point of view.

Obama Blows Our Money on Teleprompter Coach

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:30 AM

You would think that if there's one thing our Affirmative Action president really does well, it's read a teleprompter. But it turns out he needs help even here:

The White House is spending tens of thousands of dollars on a public relations firm headed by Democratic image maker Michael Sheehan - once dubbed by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton as an "extraordinary media coach" who helped her master the teleprompter.
Mr. Sheehan's firm, Sheehan Associates, could receive more than $100,000 under a current contract and has been providing occasional speech and consulting services to the White House since 2009, federal purchasing records show. …
Spending records show that the company was hired under three contracts since late 2009 and has received a total of $60,000. The records variously describe the company as providing "speech preparation training," "speech writing services" and "speech coaching services."

This isn't the only way your tax dollar finances the Moonbat Messiah's tedious speeches.

According to a 2010 payroll report, the White House employs seven speechwriters earning a combined $624,200. The team is led by Jonathan E. Favreau, the director of speechwriting, who earns $172,200, according to the report, which was released by the White House. Two other senior presidential speechwriters are paid $100,000 each. A pair of presidential speechwriters are paid $75,000 each, and a speechwriter and speechwriting assistant earn $60,000 and $42,000, respectively.

It's not clear whether unrepentant communist terrorist and suspected Dreams From My Father author Bill Ayers is one of the speechwriters.

Old Glory Hidden Away to Placate Terrorists

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:19 AM

If you think providing Osama bin Laden with an obsequious Islamic funeral at sea instead of feeding his corpse to pigs was irritating, how about this — at Club Gitmo, our flag is hidden away lest it offend the terrorists vacationing there. Richard Miniter, author of the new book Mastermind: The Many Faces of the 9/11 Architect, Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, reports to Big Peace:

I was stunned to learn while researching Mastermind that Guantanamo detainees succeeded in convincing prison officials to no longer raise the American flag anywhere they could see it. Each morning on every U.S. military base around the world, the American flag is raised to a bugle. But in the interests of not offending the detainees, it was stopped at Guantanamo.

The more we pander to these savages, the more we bow to their evil god and efface ourselves and crawl around on our bellies in the name of "sensitivity," the more weakness they will smell, the more they will attack us.

The EPA's War on Energy Producer Range Resources

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:16 AM

Even before America slit its wrists by electing him, Barack Hussein Obama gave us a preview of his energy policy by promising to use deliberately excessive regulation to bankrupt coal plants. The objective in destroying the energy sector is twofold: 1) devastate our still quasi-capitalist economy, creating enough hardship to pave the way for true socialism; and 2) pander to gullible morons in the Democrat base who actually believe that using energy makes it be too hot out for the polar bears. For the most part, this malignant agenda is carried out by what is emerging as the most pernicious and the most powerful agency in the entire federal behemoth: the EPA. Its war on Range Resources offers a typical example of how it operates:

Range Resources, fighting claims by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency that it "caused or contributed" to the contamination of two Parker County, Texas, water wells, says in court filings that the EPA's conclusions are "sheer guesswork" based on "threadbare-thin" reasoning. …
The EPA pinpointed two Range natural gas wells, drilled more than a mile deep into the Barnett Shale, as the likely sources of methane contamination in the residential water wells in far south Parker County that are approximately 200 to 220 feet deep. Methane is the chief component of natural gas.
Range said "there is 5,500 feet of the earth's strata separating the bottom of the private water wells from the subsurface horizontal sections" of its gas wells, and that the EPA order "does not even set forth a theory how gas could migrate from Range's wells to the aquifer."
Range says the EPA's order imposed costly and excessive requirements far beyond the scope required to ensure protection of the drinking-water supplies of the two contaminated wells, which served nine people.

The purpose is not to prevent the imaginary effect of the natural gas drilling on nine people's water, but to bleed energy companies until they can't afford to do business anymore.

David Poole, senior vice president and general counsel for Range, estimated that the company already has spent $1.5 million to $1.75 million defending itself against the EPA order.

Typically, once people start smelling a rat, the government is stonewalling…

The EPA continues to oppose Range's request to take sworn depositions of [Chris] Lister [an "environmental engineer" who was told by an agency chemist that there was no conclusive evidence backing the EPA's charges] and another EPA official, Jerry Saunders, who were involved in the contamination investigation.

…and hedging:

While the EPA says Range "caused or contributed" to the contamination, Range repeatedly has noted that John Blevins, the EPA official who signed the order, later retreated somewhat, saying in a Jan. 25 sworn deposition that Range "may" have caused or contributed to it.

As for what really caused the well contamination:

The Texas Railroad Commission found March 29 that the Range gas wells did not contaminate the water wells. The commission agreed with staff examiners and Range consultants that the gas in the water wells likely came from the shallow Strawn geological formation, which is only a few hundred feet deep and into which some gas wells were drilled in the early 1980s.

It will get much worse before it gets better. Next year the EPA will tighten its regulatory fist around power plants and oil refineries in the name of the disintegrating global warming hoax. Maybe Sped Begley had the right idea with his bicycle-powered toaster — so long as the EPA doesn't find out about it.

Joke Biden: Using the Technique That Found bin Laden Should Never Be Allowed

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:13 PM

Despite obsequious attempts by the media to let Barack Hussein Obama take credit for Osama bin Laden's demise, if it were up to the fools currently running the country, he never would have been found. Rep. Peter King confirms that waterboarding produced information that directly led to his discovery. Yet in this appearance on Deface the Nation, Joke Biden provides a sample of the sanctimonious malarkey we've been hearing from the Dems for years:

Michael Moore: Bin Laden Won

Posted by Dave Blount at 2:06 PM

Like everything else that occurs, the demise of America's worst external enemy is an opportunity for the obscenity named Michael Moore to display the gangrenous infection that festers inside him where his patriotism should be. Fox Nation has collected a few of his tweets on the occasion, including these heartwarmers:

"The monster we created-yes, WE-in the 1980s by ARMING, FUNDING, &TRAINING him in the art of terror agnst the USSR, finally had 2 b put down."
"Which reporter has the courage to say it? 'American-armed terrorist from the 80s, Osama bin Laden, was killed earlier today by America.'"
"He may be dead, but in a way, he won. We gave up our rights. We passed a PatriotAct. We spent trillions on needless wars. Fear now rules us."

To the extent that fear rules us, it's fear of what kind of future we're going to have with vermin of his stripe running the country.

Hats Off to Canada

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:52 AM

Even as Barack Hussein Obama tries to force the center-right USA to the left by ramming through exceedingly unpopular legislation like ObamaCare, Stephen Harper is leading more liberal Canada in the opposite direction:

Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper won his coveted majority government in elections that changed Canada's political landscape with the opposition Liberals and Quebec separatists suffering a shattering defeat.
Harper, who took office in 2006, has won two elections but until Monday's vote had never held a majority of Parliament's 308 seats, forcing him to rely on the opposition to pass legislation.
While Harper's hold on Parliament has been tenuous during his five-year tenure, he has managed to nudge an instinctively center-left country to the right. He has gradually lowered sales and corporate taxes, avoided climate change legislation, promoted Arctic sovereignty, upped military spending and extended Canada's military mission in Afghanistan.
Elections Canada reported preliminary results on its website, giving the Conservatives 167 seats, which will give Harper four years of uninterrupted government.

The Liberals earned their worst defeat ever, costing them more than half their seats in Parliament.

Four years won't be enough to undo generations of moonbat mischief, but at least Canada is moving in the right direction.

In contrast,

Twenty-one percent (21%) of Likely U.S. Voters say the country is heading in the right direction, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey taken the week ending Sunday, April 24. It's the fourth week in a row that the measurement has gone down, with confidence in the nation's course now reaching the lowest point of the Obama presidency.

However, we started to turn the ship around in 2010. If we finish the job decisively in 2012, we can join Canada in pulling back from the edge of the same abyss the Soviet Union disappeared into.

We may still have time to come around.

Obama's Office Bravery

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:10 AM

Comrade Obama's unseemly attempt to take credit for the bullets Navy SEALs sent through Osama bin Laden's brain is drawing guffaws even at the edges of the liberal media establishment that put him in power. From the LA Times:

Osama bin Laden dead: Yes, SEALs were in on the raid, but aides hail Obama's office bravery

According to another one of those White House briefings of reporters designed to suck up all available credit for good news, President Obama's homeland security advisor reveals that it was a really tense time in the air-conditioned White House as unidentified U.S. Navy SEALs closed in on the world's most wanted man after midnight a half a world away.
"Minutes passed like days," says John Brennan, who bravely stood with press secretary Jay Carney before reporters and TV cameras today chronicling his boss' weekend heroics. …
"The concern was that bin Laden would oppose any type of capture operation," said Obama's Sherlock Holmes. So U.S. troops were prepared "for all contingencies."
In fact, this weekend was such a tense time in the White House that Obama only got in nine holes of golf. But he still managed to deliver his joke script to the White House Correspondents Assn. dinner Saturday evening.
Sunday was, Brennan revealed to his eager audience, "probably one of the most anxiety-filled periods of times in the lives of the people assembled here." Poor poor bureaucrats. Extra Tums all around. Did someone order dinner? …
"There was nothing that confirmed that bin Laden was at that compound," Brennan related as if such uncertainty is uncommon in war.
"And, therefore," Brennan continued, "when President Obama was faced with the opportunity to act upon this, the president had to evaluate the strength of that information and then made what I believe was one of the most gutsiest calls of any president in recent memory."

If giving the green light to the guys who found bin Laden thanks to George W. Bush's policies was "gutsy," imagine how courageous it would have been to hold them back indefinitely.

No doubt the heroes who repelled from helicopters through a swarm of bullets to pull off the operation are content to bask in Obama's reflected glory.

Government Waste

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:14 AM

As government expands, the policy of pandering to the officially privileged will cost all of us ever more. Here's one example of how it works:

The Flight Extender II allows pilots to relieve themselves into a bag containing a special polymer mix. The mix solidifies the liquid, preventing odor and spillage.
After a decade of use by the military, a nonprofit group based in New York developed the Piddle Pak. Because the group employed disabled workers, the federal government — by law — had to award the contract to the group.

The difference between the products is that the original costs half as much as the pirated version.

[Flight Extender creator] American Innotek, which produces a similar product for ground troops, tried to work something out with the nonprofit, but they said the group would not agree to a licensing agreement.

Why should they? As a nonprofit that employs disabled workers, they have the whip hand. This makes it easier for them to steal other people's designs rather than develop their own.

When the group made a play for another American Innotek item, a mobile bathroom, [American Innotek President Niki] Kopenhaver said, "This is our last resort."
American Innotek sued the federal government for lost profits, alleging it allowed patent infringement.

Imagine the fun lawyers will have denouncing the greedy capitalists for wanting to defend their assets from the sacred "differently abled."

Those who pay taxes or own intellectual property aren't the only ones who suffer from this brand of moonbat insanity. Eventually the "nonprofit" profiteers will run out of other people's ideas to steal. Then society will find out how many innovations are produced as a result of hiring people based not on their abilities, but their disabilities.

The Economy of Spain Goes Mainly Down the Drain

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:11 AM

Barack bin Obama and other militant moonbats hold up Spain as a model country for advancing the green agenda through government coercion. Let's check in on how this approach to economics is working out for the Spaniards:

Spain's unemployment rate rose nearly a point to 21.29%, with 4.9 million jobless for the first quarter of 2011, the government reported Friday, as the prolonged economic crisis continues to squeeze the nation. …
All major sectors — industry, construction, services and agriculture — shed jobs during the quarter. The number of Spanish households in which no adult had a job increased by 58,000, to a new total of 1.38 million, the government said.

One of the reasons unemployment is so high is that each "green job" Spanish bureaucrats piously create costs the economy more than 2.2 real jobs.

The good news is that Socialist Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero will not be running for reelection. The slightly less extreme liberals who pass for conservatives in Europe will be taking the helm of this sinking ship after the elections next March.

Cringing Liberal Throws Wet Blanket on bin Laden Celebrations

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:58 AM

Liberals didn't like all the flags that spontaneously appeared after 9/11. Now that Osama bin Laden has finally gotten what he had coming, they aren't liking the patriotic celebrations. WaPo's Petula Dvorak sanctimoniously gripes about displays of national joy, which she denounces as "vulgar":

When I saw that folks were celebrating in the streets at the news of bin Laden's death, my first reaction was a cringe. Remember how we all felt watching videos of Muslims dancing in celebration on Sept. 11, 2001?

In place of a sense of right and wrong, liberals are guided by a form of depravity called "moral relativism." Here we see it taken to the point of obscenity. According to Petula, the mass murder of 3,000 innocent civilians is the equivalent of taking out the guy behind it.

Once again we're fed the insane liberal refrain that resisting Muslim aggression only encourages it:

Are we simply creating star-spangled recruitment tapes for a new generation of terrorists killing in the name of their new martyr?

Then she goes on to bleat about how mean Americans allegedly are to Muslims, whom she absolves of bin Laden's terrorism without mentioning his widespread support among them.

Nice try, Petulant. But you moonbats aren't going to ruin this happy event for patriotic Americans.

Thank Bush, Not the Moonbat Messiah

Posted by Dave Blount at 1:08 PM

Wouldn't it be nice if Osama bin Laden's richly deserved demise put an end to the sanctimonious bleating by Barack bin Obama and his supporters about how awful America used to be back when we interrogated terrorists? The Muslim atrocities of 9/11 where planned not by bin Laden but by Club Gitmo detainee Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the guy Obama's Attorney General wanted to grant a NYC show trial that could have resulted in his release, a farce that would have put George W. Bush and America on trial for harsh interrogation techniques rather than KSM. Guess who spilled the beans that led to bin Laden and why:

Current and former U.S. officials say that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, provided the nom de guerre of one of bin Laden's most trusted aides. The CIA got similar information from Mohammed's successor, Abu Faraj al-Libi. Both were subjected to harsh interrogation tactics inside CIA prisons in Poland and Romania.
The news is sure to reignite debate over whether the now-closed interrogation and detention program was successful. Former president George W. Bush authorized the CIA to use the harshest interrogation tactics in U.S. history. President Barack Obama closed the prison system.

The only downside to bin Laden's hopefully excruciating death is that now we have to listen to the media giving credit to the terrorism-facilitating fool whose policies wouldn't have allowed it to happen.

Bloomberg Calls for Banishing Immigrants to Detroit

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:05 AM

This could be the closest thing to a good idea NYC's Mayor for Life has had yet:

Detroit needs residents. Immigrants want to live in America.
Michael Bloomberg says he's got a simple solution for both needs — send all new immigrants to Detroit.
In a novel approach to immigration reform, the New York City mayor said Sunday that if he could have his way, he'd use the immigrant workforce to jump-start the Motor City's economy by requiring Detroit residency.
"The population has left. You've got to do something about that," Bloomberg said on NBC's "Meet the Press." "And if I were the federal government, assuming you could wave a magic wand and pull everybody together, you pass a law letting immigrants come in as long as they agreed to go to Detroit and live there for five or 10 years. Start businesses, take jobs, whatever."

This would have the beneficial effect of limiting immigration to those who truly love America, because who else would be willing to endure 5 years of Detroit to get citizenship? On the down side, a highly secure fence would have to be built around the city to prevent the immigrants from escaping the way native Detroiters have done. How dumping millions more welfare dependents on a city that high-tax, pro-union Democrats have reduced to a wasteland would "jump-start" the dead economy is not explained.

Immigrants wave hello from Bloomberg's vision of Detroit.

Liberal Energy Policy: Make All the Lights Go Out

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:14 AM

If you think Obama's energy policy of suppressing our own oil industry while giving other countries taxpayer money to develop theirs is insane, just hope he doesn't inflict some of the truly deranged ideas being floated by moonbats like Daniel Weiss, senior fellow and director of "climate strategy" at the liberal think tank Center for American Progress:

"There's a few things we have to do to fight the recent spike in oil prices. … First, we need to crack down on speculators — make sure that they're not intentionally driving up prices in order to make a quick buck. Second, let's eliminate the $40 billion in subsidies [over 10 years] for big oil companies that are going to make overwhelming profits anyway." … Additionally, Weiss is pushing for more fuel-efficient cars, specifically vehicles that would get 60-plus miles per gallon by 2025. He's also advocating a limit, starting in 2013, on the amount of foreign oil the U.S. imports each year and reducing that total by 5% a year.

Cracking down on "speculators" was a favorite sport in the early days of the Soviet Union. It meant eradicating the last traces of free enterprise. Eliminating subsidies sounds good, but it sure won't lower prices. Any subsidies should be converted to permanent tax breaks, as the price of gasoline consists more of taxes than of profits for oil companies. Making cars more fuel-efficient means turning them into ever more dangerous death traps. Mandating a limit on imports while domestic supply remains suppressed means deliberately imposing economic recession or worse.

According to Weiss, making oil impossible to obtain will make inefficient and extravagantly expensive technologies like wind and solar "more economical than they are today" — not because they will cost any less, but because everything else will cost even more. The effect on our sputtering economy could be predicted even by a Democrat.

There's more:

Weiss has also recommended that the White House consider selling up to 30 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and then invest the proceeds in public transportation and energy alternatives.

That is, we should cash in our emergency insurance policy and flush the money down useless boondoggles that enrich crony capitalists like Government Electric, who in turn bankroll Democrat politicians.

If you want to see where liberal energy policy inevitably and deliberately will lead, just have a nighttime look at the Korean peninsula:

Remember Weiss is the "climate strategy" director. According to the make-believe beliefs of our liberal rulers, only by making the lights go out can we protect the sacred polar bears from changes in the weather, like they are doing in North Korea, where leftist ideology has reached full flower.

Reconquistadors Overrun Tucson School Board Meeting

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:29 AM

As the campfire of civilization gutters low, the savage beasts creep forward from the darkness ever more boldly. In Tucson, public school students have been fed an "ethnic studies" course advancing rabid anti-American propaganda in support of the ongoing Reconquista at taxpayer expense. State officials have attempted to pull the plug on this treasonous outrage, but predictably the liberals running the courts intervened. Some local officials want at least to make anti-Gringo studies an elective instead of mandatory. Here's the reaction to that suggestion:

Good thing the police were there to make sure things "did not get out of hand."

Adelita Grijalva, the school board member who openly sided with the savages and absurdly spun their mob coercion as a defense of "civil rights," is the daughter of ultra-left Congresscritter Raul Grijalva — the guy who called for a boycott of his own state and yet was reelected anyway. This gives an idea of what kind of representation we will have in parts of the country that are demographically annexed by Mexico, which is why the malignant Obama Regime has openly sided with Mexico against Arizona to advance the invasion and colonization.
