Egyptian Army Opens Fire on Christians

Posted by Dave Blount at 3:04 PM

While the liberal establishment deliriously revels in the army taking control of Egypt, and even tries to give credit for this allegedly happy occasion to the bumbling Obama, here's what's happening to the handful of Christians who have managed to survive centuries after the catastrophic Islamic conquest in 642:

For the second time in as many days, Egyptian armed force stormed the 5th century old St. Bishoy monastery in Wadi el-Natroun, 110 kilometers from Cairo. Live ammunition was fired, wounding two monks and six Coptic monastery workers. Several sources confirmed the army's use of RPG ammunition. Four people have been arrested including three monks and a Coptic lawyer who was at the monastery investigating [the previous day's] army attack.
Monk Aksios Ava Bishoy told activist Nader Shoukry of Freecopts the armed forces stormed the main entrance gate to the monastery in the morning using five tanks, armored vehicles and a bulldozer to demolish the fence built by the monastery last month to protect themselves and the monastery from the lawlessness which prevailed in Egypt during the January 25 Uprising.
"When we tried to address them, the army fired live bullets, wounding Father Feltaows in the leg and Father Barnabas in the abdomen," said Monk Ava Bishoy. "Six Coptic workers in the monastery were also injured, some with serious injuries to the chest." …
Father Hemanot Ava Bishoy said the army fired live ammunition and RPGs continuously for 30 minutes, which hit part of the ancient fence inside the monastery. "The army was shocked to see the monks standing there praying 'Lord have mercy' without running away. This is what really upset them," he said. "As the soldiers were demolishing the gate and the fence they were chanting 'Allahu Akbar' and 'Victory, Victory'."
He also added that the army prevented the monastery's car from taking the injured to hospital.
The army also attacked the Monastery of St. Makarios of Alexandria in Wady el-Rayan, Fayoum, 100 km from Cairo. It stormed the monastery and fired live ammunition on the monks. Father Mina said that one monk was shot and more than ten have injuries caused by being beaten with batons. The army demolished the newly erected fence and one room from the actual monastery and confiscated building materials. The monastery had also built a fence to protect itself after January 25 and after being attacked by armed Arabs and robbers leading to the injury of six monks, including one monk in critical condition who is still hospitalized.

An American ally deposed and the last Christians violently purged — what's for a liberal not to like?

There's always the chance that Egypt's future government will be an improvement over Mubarak. But at this point it doesn't seem likely.

The Egyptian army denies this happened.

Ted Kennedy Hung Out With Communists and Prostitutes Abroad

Posted by Dave Blount at 1:22 PM

Good thing we have the British press. Without it, we would never know that Ted Kennedy spent his time with communists and prostitutes when traveling abroad:

The information came to light after a Freedom of Information request by Judicial Watch — the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption — who put pressure on the FBI to release the material. …
The statements previously withheld include accusations that during a tour of several Latin American countries he 'made arrangements to "rent" a brothel for an entire night, allegedly inviting one of the Embassy's chauffeurs to participate in the night's activities'.
In each country he visited he was also said to have 'insisted on interviewing "the angry young men" of the country as well as Communists who had extreme left-wing views'.

The likeminded leftists he wanted to meet with were so unsavory that Mexican officials refused his request.

All you need to know about liberals is that they called this treasonous, homicidal, cheating, degenerate creep "the Conscience of the Senate."

Brit Bureaucrats Ban Swimming Goggles

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:33 AM

It looks like the moonbats in charge of Britain's nanny state are running low on things to ban:

Children have been banned from wearing goggles during school swimming lessons for fears they could hurt themselves.
Pen-pushers have slapped the ban on the swimming aids amid "fears" a pair could "snap" onto a child's face too hard, injuring them.
Parents branded the ruling by Oxfordshire County Council's healthy and safety brigade as "nutty" and "extreme." …
Children will now need a medical reason for them to be allowed to wear the protective eye wear in the pool during school lessons.

The fact that chlorine hurts your eyes apparently doesn't count as a medical reason for British bureauweenies.

Oxfordshire is not alone in banning goggles.
Last year, Leicestershire County Council advised schools of the "dangerous" eyewear which it said could snap back in children's faces, or make them bump into one another due to reduced peripheral vision.
Hertfordshire County Council has done the same.
A spokesman for Oxfordshire County Council refused to divulge the specific reason why goggles had been banned from its swimming pools.

Given the absurdity of the pretexts, the fact that they can ban them and no one will do anything about it is apparently reason enough. Coercion is an end in itself for liberals. You might say that modern liberalism is the worship of coercion as embodied by The State.

Banned in Britain.

Pima County Moonbats Want to Secede From Arizona

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:24 AM

Democrat state senators in the Midwest aren't the only petulant losers who want to abandon their states. Kooks in Pima County — home of Arizona-haters Clarence Dupnik and Raul Grijalvaplan to secede:

A group of Tucson attorneys says our state legislature has grown so conservative that they want Pima County to secede from Arizona to form a new state!
The political committee, Start Our State, says they aren't joking and it's not a political stunt either. …
According to S.O.S.' Facebook page, their mission is "To establish a new state in Southern Arizona free of the un-American, unconstitutional machinations of the Arizona legislature and to restore our region's credibility as a place welcoming to others, open to commerce, and friendly to its neighbors."

By "friendly to its neighbors," they mean they will bend over backward even further to pander to illegal colonists from Mexico. Just as Texas soon joined the United States after gaining independence from Mexico, Pima County would be absorbed by its southern neighbor; demographically and politically, this is already happening, to the delight of resident moonbats.

Now if only California could get Los Angeles and San Francisco Counties to secede.

Homosexual Brainwashing on the Battlefield in Afghanistan

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:12 AM

Due largely to absurd rules of engagement that tie their hands and a "Commander in Chief" who is uncomfortable with the concept of victory, our troops in Afghanistan have been left hanging in the wind. They aren't allowed to win, but they can't come home either, because admitting defeat before the 2012 election would make Obama look bad. But they aren't dying for nothing. Their presence allows our moonbat rulers to experiment with social engineering conducted on the battlefield:

American combat troops will get sensitivity training directly on the battlefield about the military's new policy on gays instead of waiting until they return to home base in the United States, the senior enlisted man in Afghanistan said Thursday. …
Army Command Sgt. Maj. Marvin Hill, the top enlisted man in Afghanistan where 100,000 U.S. troops are deployed, said that the sessions on respecting gays' rights [i.e., privileged political status] will go right down to the forward operating bases, where troops fight Taliban militants.

Hill promises "to execute that training right here on the battlefield."

As for the many good soldiers who will leave the service rather than watch it degenerate into a combination make-work jobs program/San Francisco bathhouse:

"If there are people who cannot deal with the change, then they're going to have to do what's best for their troops and best for the organization and best for the military service and exit the military service, so that we can move forward - if that's the way that we have to go," Sgt. Hill said on the television show, "Washington Watch" in December.

No doubt there will be plenty of Bradley Manning types to take their place. If we're not trying to win wars anyway, what difference does it make?

Eco-NutMobile to Tour USA

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:44 AM

Apparently advertisers haven't gotten the word that most of us have been fed to the teeth with the politically correct eco-craze. The greenwashing of every imaginable product continues. Now Planters wants us to associate eating peanuts with saving the polar bears from their imaginary plight:

A new peanut-shaped NutMobile is the latest in the line of eco-friendly rides. Mr. Peanuts' new vehicle boasts of being environmentally friendly from its structure to fuel, and to usage of sustainable sources of energy to power lights and radio. …
The NutMobile is a modified version of an Isuzu NPR box truck that is powered by turbo-diesel of 5.2L capacity that can run on biodiesel made out of peanut oil. The fiber glass body of the NutMobile is crafted out of non-toxic epoxy, organic compounds and vinyl.
The doorframes, headlamps and glass are taken from old vehicles — hence, recycled. Wind turbine and solar panels are attached onto the vehicle producing energy for powering the LED lights and radio. The wooden flooring inside is also made out of recycled wood from an 18th century barn.

The NutMobile will set off on a tour of the USA this month, in hopes of convincing moonbats to become nuttier than ever.

All it needs is Jimmy Carter behind the wheel.

Moonbat Tech: Coral Reef Haitian Eco-Village

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:55 AM

Once again (see here and here and here) moonbats would like to exploit picturesquely squalid Haiti as a testing ground for concepts so insane, not even Democrats dare impose them closer to home.

As Haiti marches onward towards reconstruction, Vincent Callebaut continues to pump out amazing concepts for utopian eco villages for Haitians. Inspired by the organic form of coral, Callebaut proposes Coral Reef, a plug-in matrix for 1,000 Haitian families. Built upon seismic piers off the coast of the mainland, the prefabricated, modular units can be fit into a wave-like matrix as space is needed. Each family would have a plot of land to grow their own food, and their passive home would minimize energy usage, while renewable energy sources would make the entire project carbon neutral.

Why is Haiti allegedly marching "onward towards reconstruction"? Because last year it was devastated by one of the earthquakes that are common there — though not as common as hurricanes.

The hurricanes ought to set those windmills to spinning, at least until the entire architectural joke falls over on top of them.

British Taxpayers Pay Extravagant Legal Bills for Trespassing Foreign Squatters

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:57 AM

Is there a limit to the insanity that results when moonbats are allowed to run a society? Once again formerly great Britain demonstrates that the answer is no:

Squatters who broke into and occupied a £1million house have been given hundreds of pounds of taxpayers' money in legal aid to fight eviction.
The intruders from France, Spain and Poland have been living in the three-storey five-bedroom townhouse for a month.
Meanwhile, owner John Hamilton-Brown has been forced to rent a two-bedroom flat for his family while he battles to get the gang out of the house.

In a civilized country, all he would have to do is call the police. But Britain has rejected civilization in favor of liberalism.

When the press came around,

some of the squatters danced, waved flags, sang and played the guitar outside the property. They also bragged about how easy Britain's laws were in allowing them to take over homes.

The squatters aren't British subjects, but they are members of the EU and more importantly, unemployed, so they qualify for legal representation that sympathetic bureauweenies force others to pay for. The owner of the house observes:

"As I work and pay taxes, I'm at a disadvantage. I've saved up for ten years to move into this house and this is what I get."

Neighbors, who report that substantial damage has been done to the property, concur:

A neighbour said: "They have more rights than we do.
"They know what they're doing on the legal side of things as they've been in houses before in the area."

How's this for social justice?

A legal notice put in the front window by the squatters states that anybody who enters without their permission could face six months in jail and a £5,000 fine.

Liberalism is a criminal philosophy, the creed of thieves. A society under liberal management will naturally favor those who belong in jail. Coincidentally, lawyers make out very well with this state of affairs.

Stimulus Loot Wasted on Nanny State Anti-Food Propaganda

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:27 AM

While the economy staggers under the weight of our obese government, well-fed bureauweenies spend your children's money telling you what to eat and call it "economic stimulus":

If you live in New York City, or have even traveled there recently, chances are you've been inundated by anti-obesity ads that are plastered on the city's buses, subway cars and buildings. But while the New York City government is encouraging its more than 8 million residents to stop being so unhealthy, taxpayers throughout the country are paying for it.
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), headed by Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, has used $650 million in funds from the Recovery Act to pay for an anti-obesity program called Communities Putting Prevention to Work (CPPW).

How this is supposed to stimulate the economy is anybody's guess. But it will certainly stimulate the national debt.

Brits Blow £25,000 on Nonfunctional Eco-Classroom

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:16 AM

It's a good thing eco-kooks have an endless supply of other people's money to play with. Otherwise they would soon go broken on foolish projects like the Living Ark:

The much feted zero-carbon Living Ark classroom was opened three months ago to great fanfare.
It boasts laudable green credentials and is made from sustainable wood, sheep's wool and soil. The roof is made of mud and grass and it has its own 'rain pod' and solar panels.
But there is snag — its solar panels only provide enough energy to power a few lightbulbs.
As a result the classroom is bitterly cold and uninhabitable for lessons.

Apparently the eco-classroom has accomplished its mission of staving off global warming.

You wouldn't be laughing if you were paying taxes in Britain:

The Living Ark was built at Muswell Hill Primary School, North London, at the cost of £25,000.

While parents and taxpayers fume, educrats smile beatifically.

Headteacher Jill Hughes defended the project and said she hoped classes would be held in the classroom when the weather gets warmer.
She said: 'We're delighted to have the Living Ark — its a tremendous resource both for the school and the local community and is an important part of the Muswell Hill low carbon zone initiative.'

Besides, now that they have constructed this sacred shrine to eco-moonbattery, the unicorns are sure to arrive at any moment to blow the clouds away and make the solar panels work.

Maybe Al Gore will trade one of his mansions for it.

Vast Oil Reserves Go Unexploited in Alaska

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:58 AM

The skyrocketing price of oil will pull all other prices behind it, reducing the value of every dollar you've earned. Rising prices are a result of insufficient supply. In the case of oil, insufficient supply is a result of moonbattery:

A new study says drilling on Alaska's Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) could make Alaska the eighth largest oil resource province in the world — ahead of Nigeria, Libya, Russia and Norway.
The report — by the consulting firm Northern Economics and the University of Alaska-Anchorage's Institute of Social and Economic Research — says that developing Alaska's OCS could produce almost 10 billion barrels of oil and 15 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, create around 55,000 new jobs and produce $145 billion in new payroll nationally, generating a total of $193 billion in government revenue through the year 2057.

The Washington Post reported on Thursday that U.S. pump prices for regular gasoline jumped 4 cents a gallon overnight to $3.23, an 8-cent-per-gallon increase in the past week and 55 cents more than a year ago.

The solution is simple: Drill Here Drill Now. But the Sierra Club wouldn't like it, so our rulers won't let it happen. Besides, Comrade Obama wants energy prices to "skyrocket." He told us so before the country went insane and elected him anyway. Unsurprisingly, he has been putting off-shore drilling companies out of business.

Obama and Gaddafi: Old Pals

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:56 AM

Some have expressed amazement at how much quicker Obama was to condemn America's unsavory ally Hosni Mubarak than the far more unsavory enemy Muammar Gaddafi, who has killed Americans in terror attacks. After all, Gaddafi has used the military to suppress resistance far more brutally than Mubarak, who even in extremis only resorted to rough-em-up tactics comparable to those employed by the SEIU. But others are aware than Qaddafi and Obama are old friends. In September 2009, WaPo reported on a Gaddafi speech at the United Nations:

[W]hen it came to America's 44th president, Gaddafi offered only warm words, calling him "our son" and "our Obama," and saying, "The election of Obama is the beginning of change."
"We are content and happy if Obama can stay forever as the president," Gaddafi said during a rambling, 95-minute speech during which he read from notes, exhausted at least one of his interpreters, threw the U.N. schedule into disarray, and put much of his audience to sleep.

Replace the notes with a teleprompter and you can see why they hit it off.

Another reason is that they have close friends in common. In 1984 Jeremiah Wright — Obama's spiritual mentor for over 20 years — traveled to Libya to kiss Gaddafi's ring as part of an anti-American propaganda junket that also included radical pal Louis Farrakhan.

If America's foreign policy appears to make no sense whatsoever, just keep in mind that people like this are running the country now.

Best friends forever, or until Gaddafi absolutely has to go under the bus.

Tulsa Police Captain Paul Fields Investigated for Not Succumbing to Dhimmitude

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:55 AM

Let's hope God rewards Paul Fields for his integrity and courage, because the snivelingly politically correct bureaucratic establishment sure won't. When asked to order police officers to serve as props for an Islamic propaganda charade, Fields responded with the bravest word in the language: No.

The Tulsa Police Department is investigating a captain who refused an order to assign officers to attend an upcoming Islamic event because he said it would violate his religious beliefs.
Capt. Paul Fields was reassigned after he refused to order officers under his command to attend the Islamic Center of Tulsa's Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, a spokesman for the department said.
"It is my opinion and that of my legal counsel that forcing me to enter a Mosque when it is not directly related to a police call for service is a violation of my Civil Rights," Fields wrote in an internal police department memo obtained by Fox News.
"I have no problem with officers attending on a voluntary basis; however, I take exception to requiring officers to attend this event," Fields wrote in an e-mail to his superior officer obtained by Fox News. "I believe this directive to be an unlawful order, as it is in direct conflict with my personal religious convictions."

I'm guessing Fields won't order his men to attend satanic black masses either.

Naturally Islamic fifth-columnist are seizing on the latest pretext to play outraged victims:

Ibrahim Hooper, the spokesman for the [terrorist-affiliated] Council on American-Islamic Relations, called the incident an example of "anti-Muslim bigotry."
"It's a symptom of the unfortunately rising level of anti-Muslim sentiment we have in our society," Hooper said. "It sends a message of marginalization that somehow Muslims aren't part of American society."

On the contrary, Ibrahim, any patriot will admit that despite a rigid ideology violently opposed to American values, Muslims have left a major mark on American society.

Runaway Indiana Democrats Found

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:37 AM

Wisconsin Democrats aren't the only ones willing to throw a wrench into the gears of democracy to block the will of voters. Indiana has a similar problem:

A majority of the Democratic members of the Indiana House of Representatives have temporarily moved to an Urbana hotel in an effort to prevent votes on bills they consider to be bad for teachers, workers and families [or rather, bad for the pathologically greedy unions that bankroll their campaigns].
"This is not a walkout; it's a seminar that is taking place in a lovely place: Urbana, Illinois," said Indiana House Minority Leader Patrick Bauer of South Bend.

The escaped critters have been tracked down to their spider hole in lovely Urbana:

The purpose of the hide and seek is to prevent Republicans from passing right to work legislation that will ease unemployment but displease unions, as well as a voucher bill that would improve education at the expense of the NEA.

According to Bauer, the Indiana House has 100 members — 60 Republicans and 40 Democrats. He said a minimum of 67 members need to be present to have a quorum to vote on bills.

Since they are willing to go so far out of their way to impede the democratic process (which Bauer calls "the tyranny of the majority"), maybe we need a new name for Democrats. How about if we rename it the Shamelessly Irresponsible Union Toady Party?

Obama Flip-Flops, Backs Homosexual "Marriage"

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:39 AM

During the campaign, Comrade Obama swore that he believes in holy matrimony. But now he's in power, so the situation has changed:

The Justice Department has announced that it will no longer defend the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) because the president and Attorney General Eric Holder now believe the law is unconstitutional.

Not using the power of the state to undermine civilization's most fundamental institution by equating it with relationships between perverts is unconstitutional? That would have been news to James Madison.

DOMA allegedly violates the Constitution by defining marriage as being between one man and one woman, because according to the pro-terrorist sewer rat we're asked to regard as Attorney General, the Constitution prohibits "stereotype-based thinking."

Fortunately Congress, which unlike the executive branch is no longer dominated by leftist social engineers, can still defend DOMA in federal court. But give the Moonbat Messiah one more slot on the Supreme Court and any law deemed unfavorable to the militant homosexual agenda is finished.

So much for Obama's pre-election pro-marriage stance. If you want to know where the Manchurian Moonbat really stands on any issue, just ask yourself: What would best serve to undermine, weaken, pervert, rot, and destroy America?

Another Black Tea Partier Abused by SEIU

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:45 PM

If there's one thing moonbats can't stand, it's blacks who wander off the liberal plantation. Here's the reception a black Tea Partier received when he showed up at an SEIU rally in Denver today with a Gadsden flag:

"Do you have any children — that you claim?"

Good thing a lefty asked that question; otherwise it would be unconscionably racist.

At least they didn't beat him up, like a high-level SEIU thug did to Ken Gladney at a town hall meeting in Missouri.

Tantrum-Throwing Unions Egged on by Uncivil Discourse

Posted by Dave Blount at 2:04 PM

Attempts to rein in the public sector union feeding frenzy before the entire nation is looted into bankruptcy have not elicited the civil discourse liberals keep preaching about. Here a Dem congresscritter eggs on union thugs to bust heads:

"I'm proud to be here with people who understand that it's more than just sending an email to get you going. Every once and awhile you need to get out on the streets and get a little bloody when necessary," Rep. Mike Capuano (D-Ma.) told a crowd in Boston on Tuesday rallying in solidarity for Wisconsin union members.
Capuano's comments come at a time when there is heightened sensitivity to violent rhetoric in the wake of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' (D-Az.) shooting in January.
Capuano is considered a leading contender to take on Sen. Scott Brown in 2012.

This is an escalation of rhetoric for Crapguano, who in the past has called for people to throw coffee at those they suspect of resisting the liberal agenda.

Moonbat band Dropkick Murphy is doing its part to enhance civil discourse with a new song

…released on union websites including the SEIU's, that screams such phrases as "take the bastards down!" and "we got to smash them to the ground!"
"As part of the band's efforts to support the workers, they are working with SEIU and other unions and labor federations to have the song available to be played at rallies across the country," a post on SEIU's website says.

Warning — the song isn't any easier on the ears than you would expect:

Maybe they'll study this at University of Arizona's new shrine to useless sanctimonious moonbattery, the National Institute for Civil Discourse.

hersha-howard.jpg  michelle-obama-2.jpg

When I saw the picture of Hersha Howard accompanying this story, I knew I'd seen the expression before:

A Florida woman allegedly went ballistic on her roommate because she believed the woman had gobbled her Girl Scout cookies.
Hersha Howard was arrested Sunday after a battle royale that ravaged the entire apartment, according to police.
The 31-year-old Naples resident allegedly first attacked Jasmin Wanke around 1 a.m. while she was sleeping — launching an angry rant about missing Thin Mints, Wanke told authorities.
The chocolate-coated mint wafers are one of the most popular of the Girl Scout varieties, and are only available once a year.
The two argued about the cookies, then Wanke claims Howard — who according to the police report weighs 400 pounds — jumped on her and hit her in the face.

She went on to menace Wanke with scissors, whack her with a board, "hurl her heft" at her again, strike her some more, and bite her breast.

Too bad Wanke didn't think to tell her that Comrade Obama will pass out free cookies for everyone, to go with the mortgages and gasoline.

Envirofascists Unveil Final Solution on Behalf of Spotted Owls

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:18 AM

Envirofascists will do anything to save the owls. Not only will they destroy tens of thousands of jobs, they'll even kill owls:

First they came for the loggers, destroying 30,000 jobs and countless lives. Now they're coming for the Barred Owl.
Anyone remember the Great Spotted Owl Controversy? Back in the late 80s and early 90s, it was the first major instance of the environmental movement (with the cooperation of Al Gore and the Clinton administration) using the Endangered Species Act to accomplish their stealth goal — in this case driving productive mankind out of millions of acres of federally owned old-growth forest.

They had to do it no matter the cost, we were told, to save the sacred spotted owl from extinction.

Fast forward 20 years. According to the Oregonian, the spotted owl (Strix occidentalis) wasn't served a copy of the court ruling, and has continued to die off. Turns out the major culprit in its demise was evolution — in the form of the barred owl, a closely related species that is bigger, more omnivorous, and generally all around superior to the spotted owl. Barred owls (Strix varia), also native to North America, seize spotted owl habitat and out-compete the endangered species.

Envirofascists are responding with characteristic hamfistedness:

They plan to use the barred owl's fierce devotion to its property rights against it. Barred owls attack other owls that invade its territory. So steely eyed, shotgun-toting environmentalists plan to play owl calls over loudspeakers, and when the evil barred owl comes to investigate — pow.

Barred owls and spotted owls are so closely related that they can produce fertile offspring, but barred owls have characteristics that make them more deserving to survive, according to the Darwinian principles so popular with progressives. So what's the point of spending our money to kill some owls on behalf of others?

This is no more about the spotted owl than the Iraq war was about Cindy Sheehan. The purpose is to tie up as much acreage as possible and prevent logging.
The spotted owl lobby can't just admit it was wrong and let nature takes its course. Assuming the barred owl pushes the spotted owl into extinction, there's no reason to keep 11 million federal acres free of logging. Unlike its federally subsidized cousin, the barred owl is neither endangered nor picky about where it lives — old growth, new growth, wherever.

No matter how noble its alleged intentions and sanctimonious its posturing, the environmental movement has only one objective: to make the world a worse place to be human.

Barred owls are marked for death by Big Environmentalism.

Texas State Rep. Calls for Dumping Illegals at Federal Legislators' Offices

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:56 AM

Maybe this will help motivate the giant tumor in Washington to justify calling itself our government by doing something about our invasion and colonization by Mexico's dregs. From Texas:

A measure filed by State Rep. Lois Kolkhorst (R-Brenham) would allow any law enforcement agency that has custody of an illegal immigrant to take the illegal to 'the office of a U.S. Senator or Representative' and leave them there. …
Kolkhorst concedes the measure is a 'cry for help' to convince federal officials to secure the border, but she says she is serious about getting the measure approved by the Legislature.

No need to wait for a response from Homeland Security. We've already been told that the border is "as secure now as it has ever been."

HuffPo Moonbats Side With Pirates

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:24 AM

The savagery of the darkest part of the world has once again cast its shadow over innocent Americans:

A pirate fired a rocket-propelled grenade at a U.S. Navy destroyer shadowing a hijacked yacht with four Americans aboard Tuesday. Then gunfire erupted, the military said. U.S. special forces rushed to the yacht only to find the four Americans fatally wounded.
The experienced yacht enthusiasts from California and Washington are the first Americans killed by Somali pirates since the start of attacks off East Africa several years ago. One of the American couples on board had been sailing around the world since 2004 handing out Bibles.
Their deaths appeared to underscore an increasingly brutal and aggressive shift by pirates in their treatment of hostages. …
"It's a black day for us and also the Americans, but they lost bigger than us," a pirate who said his name was Bile Hussein said.

If any good could possibly be found in such a horrific event, it's that it will unite us in sadness and outrage.

Or maybe not. Reader Air2air collected some comments from the largest liberal blog, Huffington Post:

I can't help wondering if launching a rescue attempt brought this tragedy about.

Here I was thinking the pirates brought it about.

ha ha… bibles to Somalia?

The yacht was hijacked off the coast of its destination Oman.

Who is going to pay the costs for rich yacht owners to go preaching their religion? I didn't see that listed in the Constitution?

After splurging the nation to the brink of bankruptcy, liberals have finally found government spending they object to.

Maybe you shouldn't boat around with a yachtful of bibles. Missionary madness.

Amazing how the pirates were able to smell the Bibles from almost 1,000 miles away.

Maybe you should keep your evangelical christianity in your pants instead of trying to ram it down people's throats.

The choice of metaphors provides more unwanted insight into the liberal mentality.

Can't say I a surprised nor can I really be arsed to come up with some sympathy for the people killed!

Except of course for the pirates killed.

US Response… Great. Another war. Just what we need.

The story didn't get around to mentioning that war had been declared.

Who Cares
Let's just declare war on the rest of the world and be done with it.

Warmongers are always picking on put-upon pirates in hopes of starting a fight.

It was their religion that put them in harm's way.

In a godless word, everyone will be safe from evil.

If they were off the coast of somalia and engaged in missionary self-righteousness in doing so, then I would call them irresponsible.

If moonbats spouted vile opinions without even knowing where the piracy occurred, I would call them irresponsible.

sailing in an expensive yacht in these waters put a bulls eye on their sail.

It was the victims' fault for having something worth stealing.

Seems like god didn't like what they were doing.

God hates sailing?

- ha ha ha!

Liberals have a gift for finding humor where no one else could.

Why don't you start by "snuffing out" the corporations such as big oil that have decimated that countries natural resources and his made it nearly impossible for any of these people to make a real living. What they did is totally unacceptable, but why do you think these pirates exist? They use to be fisherman, but their waters were destroyed by the multi-national companies who were there just to profit off of their resources. If you want justice in the world, restrict the greed of corporations and stop blaming people who are just trying to survive.

Big oil is to blame for piracy. Surprisingly, George W. Bush's involvement isn't mentioned.

I am sure they turned to piracy due to the lack of other options.

If only Obama could seize control of the student loan industry in Somalia too.

Much like the movement of Native Americans to Reservations many years ago, along with forced indoctrination into Christian beliefs… it seems we are repeating a failed and ugly part of our history. In many cases these "Christians" are destroying beautiful, long held (thousands of years old) customs, traditions and spiritual beliefs of elegant native people. It's sickening.

Spinning cut-throat pirates as "elegant native people" who are victimized by the Christians they sail hundreds of miles to kidnap and kill is sickening, all right.

I think religion had everything to do with it. They were 'on a mission from God' and probably felt that they had some sort of personal protection because they were on a mission to distribute bibles.

Blaming the victims is to be expected if the victims are Christian.

So according to WisconsinWalker… most of the states are broke… but there's enough money in the coffers to "wipe out every last pirate."

First, a gold-plated early retirement plan for all government workers. Last, basic protection for innocent American lives.

I'd rather Christian missionaries get it. Religion and it's intolerance causes more problems than it solves.

How many Christians are intolerant enough to wish for people's brutal death?

The recent history of colonization or post-colonial Africa, southeast asia and south america.. They go with the explicit desire to convert as many as possible, often with the sincere worry for unconverted souls, and just as often, for martial gains.

Comrade Obama is sure to agree that it's all the fault of neocolonialists.

It wouldn't be the first time attacks on Missionaries were used to justify US Military intervention.

The sailors were pawns, sacrificed as part of a clever ruse to justify invading Somalia.

there aren't a whole lot of practical differences between American "missionaries" and Islamic suicide bombers: They both tend to put themselves into situations where they're going to die without accomplishing much or anything.

No, there's not much difference between missionaries and suicide bombers — aside from the former being motivated by good and the latter by evil.

Liberals will always side with the bad guys. It's one of their fundamental defining traits.

Hezbollah Teams Up With Mexican Cartels

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:48 PM

It's a good thing that according to the head of Homeland Security, our border is as secure as ever — because just across it, Hezbollah has been working with blood-soaked Mexican drug cartels. Adam Housley reports:

"Hezbollah are absolute masters at identifying existing smuggling infrastructures," says former DEA Chief of Operations Mike Braun, adding that the group "is developing relations with those responsible for operating those smuggling operations and then forming close relations with them, so that they can move anything they have an interest into virtually anywhere in the world." That comment comes from former DEA Chief of Operations Mike Braun. He goes on to tell me that the Middle East terror group is "rubbing shoulders" with drug cartels around the globe.
My military and Department of Homeland Security contacts are insistent… it's not if Hezbollah operatives have been smuggled into the U.S..… but how many? They note that drug tunnels are becoming much more sophisticated and striking similar as tunnels being used by terror organizations to smuggle weapons into the Gaza Strip. My contacts also say they have real concern that bombing techniques used in the Middle East to promote terror are now also being used inside Mexico, as the cartels war with each other and anyone in their way.

Thanks to an electoral strategy that calls for demographically transforming America, there is little chance of the government taking border defense seriously. Consequently, what finds its way into Mexico will find its way into the USA.

We also know from DHS documents that over 180,000 illegal aliens from countries Other than Mexico were apprehended from 2007 through mid-March 2010 and the State Department Country Reports on Terrorism said that "smuggling rings have been detected moving people from East Africa, the Middle East, and Southwest Asia". I am told these people and drugs are then moved up through Central America and into the Unites States through Mexico.

They probably didn't come all this way just to vote for Democrats.

Top UN Moonbat Calls for Global Socialism

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:51 AM

Eventually we will have to stop laughing at the United Nations and start taking this absurd, contemptible, but menacing organization seriously as the greatest threat to global freedom since the demise of the Soviet Union. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moonbat is calling for Obama-style wealth redistribution on a global scale:

The United Nations, which marked a "World Day of Social Justice" on Sunday, Feb. 20, is calling for a "new era" in which all the people of the world have access to basic services and "decently" paying jobs.

"Social justice" is a euphemism for oligarchical collectivism, which also goes by the names socialism and communism.

According to the U.N., 80 percent of the world's people lack "adequate social protection."
To eliminate the problem, the U.N. is trying to establish what it calls a global "social protection floor." Such a "floor" would guarantee food security, health services for all, and old-age pensions for the 80 percent of the world's people believed to lack such protections.

The pensions of our own public sector employees are sinking entire states into bankruptcy. How are American taxpayers going to afford them for the whole planet?

Like a loan shark, Ki-moonbat couldn't care less where we get the money, so long as we cough it up.

In his message urging "social justice for all," U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said, "No one should live below a certain income level, and everyone should have access to essential public services such as water and sanitation, health and education."

Imagine being enslaved not just to greedy public sector unions and the vampires in Washington, but to the hostile kleptocrats who dominate the United Nations. Our standard of living would sink to Third-World levels to pay for new palaces for socialist dictators, while sanctimonious milquetoast-munching thugs congratulate themselves on PBS and NPR for approving of it all.

Preparing for the unlikely event that our own entitlement programs don't manage to collapse the US economy in the near future, the UN has come up with four global entitlements:

-- basic income security for children;
-- access to some social assistance for people of working age that prevents them from falling into absolute food poverty;
-- a basic old-age pension for people over a certain age;
-- and essential health services for all.

Not even Ben Bernanke could print money fast enough to pay for these utopian collectivist pipedreams. The objective is to cause America's death by exsanguination.

War on Middle Class Is Going Well — For the Enemy

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:14 AM

The primary goal of oligarchical collectivists (aka Obamunists) is to transform America into a two class system: an elitist cadre that runs the government and the impoverished proles who depend on it for existence. To accomplish this fundamental transformation, Comrade Obama must destroy the middle class, which constitutes the primary bulwark against totalitarianism. He's doing an excellent job. CA Political News lists 18 sobering indications that the middle class is not participating in the supposed economic recovery, but has been forced into a tailspin toward oblivion:

#1 According to Gallup, the U.S. unemployment rate is currently 10.3 percent. When you add in part-time American workers that want full-time employment, that number rises to 20.2 percent.
#2 According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of job openings in the United States declined for a second straight month during December.
#3 There are currently more than 4 million Americans that have been unemployed for more than a year.
#4 The number of Americans that have become so discouraged that they have given up searching for work completely now stands at an all-time high.
#5 Gasoline prices in the United States recently hit a 28-month high.
#6 During the 4th quarter of 2010, 4.63 percent of all U.S. home loans were in foreclosure. That matched the all-time high, and it was up significantly from 4.39 percent in the 3rd quarter.
#7 It is estimated that there are about 5 million homeowners in the United States that are at least two months behind on their mortgages, and it is being projected that over a million American families will be booted out of their homes this year alone.
#8 Almost 14 percent of all credit card accounts in the United States are currently 90 days or more delinquent.
#9 The average credit card rate in the United States had increased to a whopping 13.44 percent at the end of 2010.
#10 Americans now owe more than $890 billion on student loans, which is even more than they owe on credit cards.
#11 Average household debt in the United States has now reached a level of 136% of average household income. In China, average household debt is only 17% of average household income.
#12 U.S. life expectancy at birth is now three years less than Canada and four years less than Japan.
#13 New home sales in the state of California were at the lowest level ever recorded in the month of January.
#14 43 percent of all mortgages in south Florida are currently underwater.
#15 Prior to the most recent economic downturn, there were usually somewhere around four to five million job openings in America. Today there are about 3 million.
#16 When you adjust wages for inflation, middle class workers in the United States make less money today than they did back in 1971.
#17 One out of every seven Americans is now on food stamps.
#18 One out of every six elderly Americans now lives below the federal poverty line.

Progressivism is an alliance of the welfare class and limousine liberals against everyone in between. The government isn't crushing the life out of the economy with its own monstrous obesity by accident; as Obama's obscene "stimulus" spending makes obvious, it's by design — and it's working.

As promised, we are being fundamentally transformed.

Guardian Outs Overseas CIA Agent

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:06 AM

The CIA's Raymond Allen Davis is no Valerie Plame-type bureaucratic seat-warmer, but an overseas agent charged with protecting American lives in an extremely dangerous place. Now he may lose his own life thanks to the official soapbox of Britain's liberal elite, The Guardian.

An American jailed in Pakistan for the fatal shooting of two armed men was secretly working for the CIA and scouting a neighborhood when he was arrested, a disclosure likely to further frustrate U.S. government efforts to free the man and strain relations between two countries partnered in a fragile alliance in the war on terror.
Raymond Allen Davis, 36, had been working as a CIA security contractor and living in a Lahore safe house, according to former and current U.S. officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to talk publicly about the incident.

Here's what happened to his cover:

The revelation that Davis was an employee of the CIA comes amid a tumultuous dispute over whether he is immune from criminal prosecution under international rules enacted to protect diplomats overseas. New protests in Pakistan erupted after The Guardian newspaper in London decided to publish details about Davis' relationship with the CIA.

Not even the moonbats at AP would be that malignant.

The Associated Press learned about Davis working for the CIA last month, immediately after the shootings, but withheld publication of the information because it could endanger his life while he was jailed overseas, with at least some protesters there calling for his execution as a spy.
The AP had intended to report Davis' CIA employment after he was out of harm's way, but the story was broken Sunday by The Guardian.

Thanks to the same sanctimonious fools who see fit to publish the ravings of the very personification of moonbattery, George Monbiot, Davis's life hangs by a thread.

A U.S. official says Davis is being held at a jail on the outskirts of Lahore where there are serious doubts about whether the Pakistanis can truly protect him.

It's doubtful that Valerie Plame knows how Davis feels. It's also doubtful that the storm of sanctimonious outrage from the liberal media that followed her alleged outing will be repeated here.

We ought to strike up a deal with the Brits. If their left-wing press will stop outing CIA agents, we'll find a president who doesn't peddle their nuclear secrets to the Russians.

Maybe we could trade Plame to get Davis.

Socializing the Cost of Sexual Mutilation

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:57 AM

MSNBC triumphantly crows over the success militant perverts have had in strong-arming contemptibly politically correct corporations into forcing employees to finance bizarre sexual mutilation procedures by covering them under insurance policies as if they were medically necessary.

With little fanfare, more and more large corporations, including Coca-Cola, Campbell Soup and Walt Disney, have expanded their insurance coverage to meet the needs of transgender workers. The trend follows a concerted push by transgender rights advocates to get employers and insurers to see sex reassignment the way the American Medical Association does — as a medically indicated rather than an optional procedure.

If chopping appendages off of your body to indulge a delusion is medically necessary, next insurance plans will cover apotemnophilia, a comparably depraved psychiatric condition that makes crazy people feel compelled to cut off their own arms and legs.

American Express, Kraft Foods, AT&T, Yahoo!, Eastman Kodak, Sears, Morgan Stanley, Price Waterhouse, General Motors and State Farm are among 85 large businesses and law firms that cover the cost of at least one surgery, according to a 2010 survey by the Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest gay rights group.
The number is expected to spike this year, when HRC adds availability of surgery-inclusive medical benefits for transgender employees or transgender dependents to the criteria in its annual corporate diversity report card.
To maintain the coveted 100 percent rating when the next Corporate Equality Index is published in the fall, companies will have to offer at least one insurance plan that covers at least $75,000 worth of surgery and other treatments recommended by a patient's doctor.

The Corporate Equality Index rates the obsequiousness of cowardly corporations in complying with the militant homosexual agenda. As for the $75,000 to convert dysfunctional men into crude facsimiles of dysfunctional women, it has to come from somewhere — namely from everyone else insured under the same policy. If the transsexuals improve psychiatrically to the point they want their own bodies back, no doubt others will get the bill for that too.

Is it any wonder that health insurance costs keep blasting through the stratosphere?

Normal Americans Not on Board With Marxist Revolution in Wisconsin

Posted by Dave Blount at 1:39 PM

Anecdotal evidence suggests that the proletarian revolution Obama's political machine has attempted to ignite in Wisconsin is not exactly catching fire. Commenter Donna V. at Ace of Spades HQ writes:

Today after work, I went grocery shopping and ran a few other errands near a busy intersection in Shorewood WI. Shorewood is a well-to-do, lily white and generally very liberal suburb of Milwaukee.
There was a small band of high school students, in obviously high spirits because of their extra long weekend, jumping around and waving signs saying "Support Worker Rights." They were accompanied by a few older people, teachers I assume, holding similar signs.
This is what struck me: it was rush hour, plenty of cars were going past and during the course of 15 or 20 minutes or so, I didn't hear one single honk of support from any passing cars. This is a 'burb where there is no shortage of Volvos with Obama/Biden and "Co-Exist" bumper stickers. I remember the anti-war rallies during the Bush years. The honks and cheers of support and encouragement the "Bush = Hitler" protesters got were constant. "Walker = Hitler" doesn't seem to be going over nearly as well. The silence of the rush hour crowd was very noticable.
I don't blame the kids for being clueless because they are kids, but their elders are another matter. Did any of those bozos pause to consider that even a wussy Volvo-driving Obama voter, driving home after a long, hard work week, might have glanced at those signs and thought "Worker rights? Hey, I'm a worker too — been busting my butt all week. Had to scramble to find sitters for the kids today and it made me late for work. Nobody will stand on the corner waving signs if I get laid off, or take a pay cut. Screw these people."
Some otherwise pretty apolitical friends were furious at having to take two days off to watch their kids. They've become big Scott Walker fans. Keep making friends and influencing people, lefties, it's working so well!

A basic rule of American politics is proven out again: the better we get to know leftists, the less we like them. Even our moonbat rulers are aware of this, or Comrade Obama wouldn't operate behind a smokescreen of euphemisms and phony moderation.

Michael Bloomberg Takes Nanny State Authoritarianism on the Road

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:11 AM

New York City's Mayor for Life Michael Bloomberg was not chastised when he shot himself in the foot with his Arizona gun show sting operation. Now he's launched a totalitarian tour:

No one can say that New York City mayor and anti-gun gadfly Michael Bloomberg doesn't support getting Americans back to work — at least those who don't operate snow removal equipment in New York City. But those who are concerned about global warming [conspicuously including the moonbatty Bloomberg himself] may take issue with how he's going about it. During an interview with ABC-TV's George Stephanopolous this week, Bloomberg announced he has hired a driver to tour the country in a large, fossil-fuel-burning truck, towing a billboard that other Bloomberg jobbers have covered with a poster or paint job claiming that 34 people are murdered with guns each day.

According to the FBI, the real number is 26, not 34 — and that's counting people who kill in self-defense.

Presumably the billboard will not feature stats on how many innocent lives are saved by criminals not being the only ones with guns. In a study for the National Institute of Justice, 40% of felons reported refraining from crimes due to fear of armed civilians.

Reader Wyatt's Torch passes along an interesting response to the uninteresting revelation that Canadian teenybopper pop star Justin Bieber favors socialized medicine:

"I think no musician or actor should be paid for their services by citizens. Music and movies are too expensive. All musician and actors should be paid by the government and get a small, fixed salary. Also, since the government is paying for it, bureaucrats should have total control over content. Protest to the government with the new slogan: "Free health care, free music, free movies!"

Union Goon Attacks Tea Party Sound System

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:13 PM

Socialist civility on display in Madison, along with typical leftist regard for the right of free speech:

Police officers in Madison detained and subsequently released a labor union operative who attempted, somewhat successfully, to destroy the speaker system at the Tea Party counter rally Saturday.
Police would not release the name of the man, or any more details, but eyewitnesses told The Daily Caller he ripped the wiring out of several different speaker systems. Part of the sound system went out for about five minutes.
When a Tea Partier, Luke Bacher, confronted the man ripping the speaker wiring out, Bacher said the man physically assaulted him. That caused police to get involved and detain the union operative.

Yanking a few wires loose is nothing compared to the carnage that inevitably results when these people seize control of governments, as they are edging closer to doing here.

Columbia Punks Heckle Hero Anthony Maschek

Posted by Dave Blount at 2:20 PM

The clogged toilet calling itself Columbia University has hit yet another new low, with the spoilt Marxist trustafarians who infest it heckling a hero who took 11 bullets on their worthless behalf:

"Racist!" some students yelled at Anthony Maschek, a Columbia freshman and former Army staff sergeant awarded the Purple Heart after being shot 11 times in a firefight in northern Iraq in February 2008. Others hissed and booed the veteran.
Maschek, 28, had bravely stepped up to the mike Tuesday at the meeting to issue an impassioned challenge to fellow students on their perceptions of the military.
"It doesn't matter how you feel about the war. It doesn't matter how you feel about fighting," said Maschek. "There are bad men out there plotting to kill you."

There are also bad men out there plotting to rot our minds and our souls; at Columbia they have been doing a first class job.

Several students laughed and jeered the Idaho native, a 10th Mountain Division infantryman who spent two years at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington recovering from grievous wounds.
Maschek, who is studying economics, miraculously survived the insurgent attack in Kirkuk. In the hail of gunfire, he broke both legs and suffered wounds to his abdomen, arm and chest.
He enrolled last August at the Ivy League school, where an increasingly ugly battle is unfolding over the 42-year military ban there.

The last excuse for forbidding ROTC was that the Don't Ask Don't Tell policy prevented the military from advancing the militant homosexual agenda. Now that Democrats have overturned it, moonbats predictably continue to push the envelope:

"Transpeople are part of the Columbia community," said senior Sean Udell at the meeting, referring to the military's current ban on transgender soldiers.

Horrifyingly if unsurprisingly, Columbia is home to arguably the most influential school of journalism in the country.

Good Thing This Isn't Egypt Under Mubarak

Careful — the video below could cause irony overload. Hillary Clinton was piously denouncing erstwhile ally Hosni Mubarak for limiting the free speech of protesters when 71-year-old Army veteran Ray McGovern silently turned his back in a protest of his own. Watch what happens next:

Here's why you'd better not turn your back on Shrillary Rotten:

According to Mara Verheyden-Hilliard, attorney with the Partnership for Civil Justice Fund, "For this peaceful expression of dissent, he ended up bruised, bloodied, arrested, and jailed. Secretary Clinton never paused, continuing her speech lecturing other countries about the need to allow freedom of expression and dissent, while Mr. McGovern was hauled out in front of her."
McGovern was later found to have his arm covered with bruises. The metal handcuffs were fastened so tightly that his wrists were cut and some blood flowed from the cuts.
After being held by local police, McGovern was told he was being charged with disorderly conduct.

Still more irony: McGovern is a member of Veterans for Peace — i.e., a moonbat like Shrillary.

Attempts to Rein In Teachers Unions Leads to Nasty Antics in Idaho

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:33 AM

Wisconsin isn't the only place where attempts to pry the golden spoon out of the mouth of teachers unions has resulted in ugly tantrums:

Gov. Butch Otter, longtime lawmakers and an Idaho professor say they've never seen political rancor boil into personal attacks like this in Idaho before.
So what is it about schools Superintendent Tom Luna's proposal for revamping Idaho education that brings emotions so close to the surface on both sides?

Ignoring the incongruous "on both sides" moral equivalency the left-leaning media always provides when their side is in the wrong, here's what's bringing out sinister emotions among union goons:

Luna's plan, which is still in the Senate Education Committee, would replace teacher tenure with rolling two-year contracts, force unions to prove they represent 50 percent of the teachers in a district, limit collective bargaining to salaries and benefits and not allow collective bargaining agreements to extend beyond the end of the state fiscal year.

The response:

On Saturday evening, Luna said, he encountered an angry man outside his mother's house in Nampa. The man reportedly identified himself as a teacher opposed to Luna's plans to increase class sizes and said he had planned to speak to Luna's mother. Luna reported the incident to Nampa police.
Late Monday or early Tuesday, someone slashed two tires on Luna's vehicle at his Nampa home and spray-painted the word "Luna" with an X through it on the white truck's passenger door. Nampa police are investigating.
After Luna reported the vandalism early Tuesday morning, he went to a Downtown Boise coffee shop for an appearance on live morning television. He was approached by a man who loudly called him "a liar and other choice words" before a police officer intervened and calmed the man down, Luna spokeswoman Melissa McGrath said.

What was it a famous community organizer said? "If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun."

If responsible leaders turn yellow and back down to Obama's union friends, their states will go bankrupt, because the money just isn't there to keep the feeding frenzy going. But if they don't, union behavior won't be getting prettier.

Tea Party Counterdemonstration in Madison

The Tea Party may not have the Executive Branch of the federal government behind it, like the communist hooligans throwing their extended tantrum in Madison, but that doesn't mean it can't turn out a crowd. It's time the voices of the Wisconsin people are heard.

As JSOnline points out, "Tea Party groups have held several well-attended rallies in the past in Madison." This one looks like another big success. Wisconsin readers would be hard pressed to find a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Sheila Jackson-Lee Explains Why ObamaCare Penalty Is Not a Penalty

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:31 AM

Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX) may have the IQ of a heifer, but when she opens her mouth, she sounds more like a duck. The other day she explained to the House Judiciary Committee why the penalty imposed under ObamaCare on those who don't buy health insurance is not a penalty.

The law itself states: "If an applicable individual fails to meet the requirement of subsection (a) [having a government-approved health-insurance policy]... there is hereby imposed a penalty with respect to the individual."
Elsewhere, in a section entitled "Payment of Penalty," it says that individuals failing to carry a government-approved health insurance policy must pay a maximum penalty of $750.

But that doesn't mean it's a penalty:

"I would make the argument, one, that instead it is an incentive to do right — that it is not penalizing because penalty is punishment," Jackson-Lee told the Judiciary Committee.
"You're not punished if you have health insurance, in fact. And so you are, in fact, incentivized to have health insurance, rather than take the negative which is to suggest that because we have a penalty you are being punished," Rep. Jackson-Lee said.

That wasn't quite clear. Let's hear some more duckspeak:

"I am helping you. I am helping you not to have 26 percent un-insurance in the state of Texas. I'm helping children be insured. I'm helping diverse minorities be insured," said Rep. Jackon-Lee. "And I know during the civil rights argument — even though we were arguing under the Constitution — there were many policy statements being made: Do we want to live in a nation that discriminates against a person for the color of their skin?"

Huh? One last chance to clarify:

"But I also need to say whether or not it is more an incentive than it is a punishment," said Rep. Jackson-Lee. "I am more inspired by incentive. And I welcome it being a parking ticket. We get parking tickets all the time, and no one complains about being required to do the right thing."

In addition to believing that no one complains about parking tickets, Rep. Jackson-Lee also thinks that Americans won the Vietnam War and planted a flag on Mars. We have let ourselves be ruled by people like this.

At least she didn't try to tell us that the penalty is a tax.

Obama's Organizing for America Behind Wisconsin Chaos

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:14 AM

You would never guess who is behind the communist-style shenanigans in Wisconsin:

The Democratic National Committee's Organizing for America arm — the remnant of the 2008 Obama campaign— is playing an active role in organizing protests against Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker's attempt to strip most public employees of collective bargaining rights.
OfA, as the campaign group is known […has been] riding to the aide of the public sector unions… OfA's engagement with the fight — and Obama's own clear stance against Walker — mean that he's remaining loyal to key Democratic Party allies…
OfA Wisconsin's field efforts include filling buses and building turnout for the rallies this week in Madison, organizing 15 rapid response phone banks urging supporters to call their state legislators, and working on planning and producing rallies, a Democratic Party official in Washington said.

In the clear choice between pathologically greedy teachers unions on one side, and the children who are going untaught and their bled-dry taxpaying parents on the other, where did you expect Comrade Obama to come down? In addition to whatever backroom machinations are taking place, the Manchurian Moonbat publicly splashed gasoline on the flames by denouncing Governor Walker's acknowledgment of fiscal reality as "an assault on unions." Elect a man whose only real political experience is as a "community organizer" (i.e., Marxist rabble-rouser), and you would be a fool to expect anything else.

Fortunately, thanks to the 2010 elections, part of the government is willing to side with the public against the slow-motion socialist putsch we've been witnessing:

House Speaker John Boehner sharply criticized President Obama on Thursday for "unleashing" Organizing for America in Wisconsin to pressure Gov. Scott Walker to abandon anti-union legislation.
"I'm disappointed that instead of providing similar leadership from the White House, the president has chosen to attack leaders such as Gov. Walker, who are listening to the people and confronting problems that have been neglected for years at the expense of jobs and economic growth," Boehner said in a statement. "I urge the president to order the DNC to suspend these tactics."
Citing news reports Boehner said OfA is spreading "disinformation and confusion in Wisconsin," prompting thousands of public employees to picket.
Boehner said GOP governors like Walker, Ohio's John Kasich and New Jersey's Chris Christie, each of whom have defied Obama on his infrastructure agenda, are "daring to speak the truth about the dire fiscal challenges" the country faces.

The Speaker is right to speak up. His own state Ohio is next in the Obamunist crosshairs.

Attention Al Gore. Bribing some scientists with government grants to prop up a hoax, while using the complicit media to shut out those with more integrity, does not constitute a consensus. Holland's Minister of Economic Affairs, Agriculture, and Innovation and Deputy Prime Minister can show you a consensus:

Christian Democrat leader Maxime Verhagen on Monday said the multicultural society has failed.

Verhagen noted that the Dutch no longer feel at home in their own country.

He follows his European colleagues in declaring multiculturalism a failure. German chancellor Angela Merkel, British prime minister David Cameron and French president Nicolas Sarkozy have all said the same…

Too bad liberal theory can't be laughed off at the pointy-headed posturing stage, before it is put into practice with inevitably ruinous consequences. No reasonable person could think that inviting and even subsidizing the colonization of your own country, discouraging assimilation, and giving foreigners privileged status in relation to the native-born would result in anything but disaster.

But then, you could say the same about the welfare state, which few will admit is just as much a failure, even as whole nations teeter on the brink of bankruptcy.

Dallas Commissioner John Wiley Price Denounces Citizens, Plays Race Card

Posted by Dave Blount at 2:04 PM

This pretty much sums up the relationship between American citizens and their arrogant rulers in the "post-racial" age of Obamunism:

Tuesday's Dallas County Commissioner's Court meeting erupted into an argument between Commissioner John Wiley Price and a citizen, ending with Price repeatedly telling several citizens to "go to hell."
The exchange started during the public speaking portion of the meeting, which happens after the commissioners have gone through their weekly agenda.

Price's ignorance of court rules resulted in the nasty exchange with constituents. When the meeting was adjourned,

As Price stood to leave, he looked at Turner and the five other citizens who addressed the court. Price said to them, "All of you are white. Go to hell!"
Price repeated "go to hell" three more times. An unknown member of the audience said, "You should be ashamed!"
"I'm not ashamed!" Price answered. "I'm not ashamed! Go to hell!"

For the icing on the cake, Price defended himself by denouncing the citizens as racists.

In the past, Price has revealed that the terms "black hole," "devil's food cake," "angel's food cake," and "black sheep" are racist.

The joke isn't funny anymore. It's time to revoke everybody's race card.

Priorities: Cuts for VOA, but More Cash for NPR

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:00 PM

Even as American influence declines due to our awful leadership, and that of communist China and radical Islam rises, Comrade Obama is moving to reduce our benevolent impact still further by pulling the rug out from under Voice of America:

The Obama administration will cancel shortwave radio broadcasts by Voice of America into China this year, as Beijing is expanding its propaganda operations in the United States and around the world.
Critics of the broadcasting cuts, announced Monday, said major reductions in staff and shortwave broadcasts will sharply curtail an important outlet for unfiltered news and information for large numbers of people in China, especially areas such as Tibet and western Xinjiang province, where pro-democracy forces are opposing Chinese rule.

At least the Manchurian Moonbat has found something he is willing to cut in the face of the looming government debt crisis. Or is he just shifting the money somewhere else?

As some Republicans on Capitol Hill try to cut, or even eliminate, its government funding, National Public Radio has sent a public thank-you to the Obama administration for proposing an increase in taxpayer funding for public radio.
"Public broadcasting received a vote of confidence today from the Obama Administration," NPR said in a statement Monday. "The President's FY 2012 budget submission to Congress included $451 million for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) for the two year advance appropriation for FY 2014, an increase of $6 million over FY 2013 funding."

We can't afford to transmit pro-liberty information abroad, but so long as moonbats hold the reins, there will always be coercively subsidized anti-liberty propaganda at home — even if we have to steal money from our grandchildren to pay for it.

UC Davis No Longer Defines "Religious Discrimination" as Being Christian

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:40 AM

The one nice thing about moonbat educrats is the spinelessness they have developed over decades of reflexively submitting to every demand shrieked by leftist radicals. Keep pushing them and they will move:

The University of California at Davis has backed away from a policy that defined religious discrimination as Christians oppressing non-Christians after more than two dozen Christian students filed a formal complaint.
The definition was listed in a document called, "The Principles of Community." It defined "Religious/Spiritual Discrimination" as "The loss of power and privilege to those who do not practice the dominant culture's religion. In the United States, this is institutionalized oppressions toward those who are not Christian."

For a list of contemporary examples of Christians oppressing people, refer to moonbats' imaginations, which is the only place they can be found.

Raheem Reed, an associate executive vice chancellor at UC-Davis, said he received the letter and removed the definition Wednesday afternoon.
"I certainly can see how a Christian student reading that definition might feel and that's why it was immediately disabled and taken down," Reed told Fox News Radio.

Immediately disabled?

[O]ne student said they complained to administrators last November about the policy and nothing was done. "Christians deserve the same protections against religious discrimination as any other students on a public university campus," [David] French [of the Alliance Defense Fund] told Fox News Radio. "The idea that a university would discriminate against Christians is a very old story, unfortunately, and one that we see played out every day." …
French said all of the students who complained are fearful of backlash if their identities became known. "This was amazing to actually enshrine in your non-discrimination statement — discrimination against Christians," he said.

Alan Brownstein, a law professor at the school, provides more insight into why the school backed down:

"It's always preferable to be as general as you can when you describe these kinds of unacceptable behaviors."

Educrats can avoid inconvenient scrutiny if they use vague, lofty-sounding rules to methodically eradicate anything moonbats don't like, while quietly neglecting to apply the rules to their allies.

Walmart Heroes Fired

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:13 AM

In a nation shell-shocked by endless lawsuits, no act of heroism goes unpunished:

Four Wal-Mart employees have been fired after management said they violated company policy by disarming an alleged shoplifter who had pulled a gun inside the store.
Lori Poulsen, Justin Richins, Shawn Ray and Gabriel Stewart were all longtime workers at Wal-Mart's Layton, Utah, store. Poulsen was an asset protection coordinator, Richins and Ray were asset protection associates, and Stewart was an assistant manager.
On Jan. 13, employees allegedly witnessed a man identified as Trent Allen Longton take a netbook computer out of the package and stuff it under his shirt. When Longton attempted to leave the store, he was confronted by Poulsen, who escorted him to a nearby office. The two were joined there by Ray, Richins and Stewart, Salt Lake City's Deseret News reported.
Inside the office, Longton allegedly pulled out a loaded handgun and ran toward the office door, which was blocked by Ray, Richins and Stewart. Longton then allegedly grabbed Stewart and shoved the gun into his back. Concerned for their safety, the workers reacted forcefully and disarmed Longton.
In the police incident report, the investigating officer noted that the Wal-Mart employees acted in the "best interest and safety" of those around them. Longton, as it turned out, was a convicted felon who was prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Wal-Mart managers, however, disagreed. The following week, the four workers were fired for violating the company's "Investigation and Detention of Shoplifters Policy." The policy instructs employees to retreat if an individual brandishes a weapon.

FCC's Michael Copps Demands His Critics Be Silenced

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:55 AM

Most of the insidious bureauweenies eating away America from within remain as faceless as they are unaccountable. But a few distinguish themselves for their open belligerence toward our fundamental liberties:

Federal Communications Commissioner Michael Copps made a case for a government hand in media policy in a speech to the FCBA [Federal Communications Bar Association] on Tuesday.
"The commission can act now. It should have acted on the media before now. I am disappointed that it has not," he said.
The decline of "real journalism" justifies federal involvement, according to Copps. …
The Democratic commissioner pointed to Fox News' Bernie Goldberg and Bill O'Reilly as examples of the problem with today's media landscape, saying the pair has taken his own words out of context.

When you shine a light on a cockroach, you expect it to scuttle back under the stove. But Copps stands on his hind legs and wags his antennae aggressively, threatening those who expose him.

The key going forward, according to Copps, is "making sure there is media about, and originating from, the local communities a station serves."

When an FCC bureaucrat uses the word "local," hold tight to your copy of the Constitution. Localism is a "Hush Rush" strategy for silencing opposition voices with national audiences.

Congress has given the FCC power to get involved in the Communications Acts, according to Copps. It may want to give the agency more power to promote media diversity and competition, he said.

"Diversity" means you have to shut up because you're Caucasian. "Competition" means if you grow too tall, you will be chopped down — unless of course your point of view pleases folks like Copps.

The commissioner also reiterated his call for a "Public Value Test" as part of the broadcasting license renewal, a process controlled by the FCC.

In a free country, public value is determined by the marketplace. Under socialism, it is determined by dictatorial thugs.

The greatest threat to our freedom is bugs like Copps.

Maher: Lenin and Stalin Were Right Wing

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:36 PM

Radical leftist Adolf Hitler had this to say about capitalism:

"We are socialists, we are enemies of today's capitalistic economic system for the exploitation of the economically weak, with its unfair salaries, with its unseemly evaluation of a human being according to wealth and property instead of responsibility and performance, and we are all determined to destroy this system under all conditions."

However, his fellow lefties have managed the astounding propaganda feat of getting people to consider Hitler right wing, as if limited government and totalitarian government were somehow the same cause.

If they could disown Hitler, why not some of the more blood-drenched communists? Despite the near total blackout by the education and media establishments, people are becoming aware that the communist horrors inflicted by fiends like Stalin and Mao dwarfed Hitler's crimes, so more left = right revisionism may be required. The appalling Bill Maher has already stepped up to the task:

"I suppose people would say the Russian Revolution was hijacked by the left-wing. But I think when you go that far left, you're really the right-wing. I consider Lenin and Stalin right-wingers."

If you can believe that incandescent light bulbs cause global warming, which causes harsher winter weather, and that Sarah Palin bears responsibility for the Jared Loughner shootings, you can probably swallow this too.

Imagine the hoopla if W had had someone drawing a generous government salary who was also getting paid by a slavishly pro-administration magazine. Yet few in the media seem to find this revelation about Jay Carney interesting:

Despite leaving Time magazine shortly after the 2008 election to work for the Obama administration, Carney continued collecting payments from his former employer in 2009, Politico reported [yesterday].
According to newly released financial disclosure forms, Carney was paid $270,000 by Time while serving as Vice President Joe Biden's communications director, consisting of a $58,000 bonus for work during the 2008 presidential campaign and a $212,000 severance payment.
"The White House did not respond when asked whether Carney's severance payment stemmed from a buyout or was part of a different arrangement," noted Politico writer Kenneth Vogel.

Whatever the arrangement, I doubt if Slime will have access problems now that Corny has replaced Robert Fibs as Press Secretary – not that the left-wing establishment media and the Obama Misadministration aren't two heads on the same monster anyway.

What Time lacks in integrity it may make up in access.

Seahawk Drilling: Obama's War on Energy Claims Another Victim

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:51 AM

We can no longer say that B. Hussein Obama has never accomplished anything. His policy of restricting off-shore drilling is producing results:

Seahawk Drilling Inc. said it has filed for bankruptcy protection and plans to sell its fleet of offshore drilling rigs to a competitor for $105 million.
Seahawk, which announced the deal with Hercules Offshore Inc. Friday, has been hurt by a slowdown in Gulf of Mexico drilling after the BP oil spill last April. The government halted drilling in deep waters and imposed tough new rules that have curtained all energy exploration in U.S. waters.

Oil prices are high and will go much higher, if the spreading instability in the Middle East is any indication. Yet our government is forcing domestic oil producers into bankruptcy. Don't expect anyone in the establishment media to see a problem with this.

It's unclear what will happen to the company's 494 employees, spokesman Thomas Becker said.

Less than 500 thrown out of work? That's peanuts by Obama standards. He was willing to knowingly kick 23,000 into the ranks of the unemployed with his Gulf drilling moratorium.

At least the Moonbat Messiah is keeping one promise. He did say before the election that he would cause energy prices to skyrocket. Yet for reasons beyond my comprehension people voted for him anyway.

If only Obama's domestic policy were as ineffectual as his foreign policy.

Another casualty of Obamunism.

Like Crime, Humiliation Pays in Britain

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:12 AM

Whoever said that crime doesn't pay hasn't been to Britain since liberalism run rampant reduced it to a bizarre bleeding heart hybrid of A Clockwork Orange and a Monty Python skit. Here's how it pays to sell heroin:

A convicted drug dealer who claims he was left "humiliated" after he was named and shamed on a police leaflet is to sue the police.
Luke Walsh-Pinnock, 22, claimed the document breached his human rights after it was sent to neighbours in Kilburn, north west London.
The leaflet contained a police photo and details of his crime and was delivered to 1,500 homes.
He had previously been sentenced to four years at Wood Green Crown Court after he was convicted of dealing both heroin and cocaine.
But now his parents have complained about his "degrading" treatment.
A friend of his mother Linda Walsh told The Sun: "Luke's been humiliated in his local community, which is against his human rights. We'll take this to court."

Given the moonbattery that prevails in British courts, Luke ought to be sitting pretty when he gets out of the clink. If not, he can always switch from drug dealing to theft:

Furious that one of his staff had stolen hundreds of pounds from his business, Simon Cremer hung a sign saying "thief" around the man's neck and frogmarched him to a police station.
But while the employee, Mark Gilbert, was let off with a police caution, Mr Cremer spent three months facing a charge of false imprisonment until the case was dropped.
Now, in a further blow, the businessman has paid his former employee £5,000 compensation and covered his £6,000 legal fees in an out-of-court settlement to avoid a hugely expensive civil case for the "humiliation" he suffered.
Together with his own £2,000 lawyer's bill, the total comes to £13,000.

In short, it would have been much cheaper and easier to just let the thief steal what he wanted, which is the message British authorities have been broadcasting loudly and clearly to law-abiding government subjects and criminals alike.

Cremer didn't like paying a fortune to the lowlife as a reward for having robbed him. But he didn't have much choice:

"It would have cost me £25,000 just to go to court, so I had no option but to settle out of court."
"It would financially ruin me. I would lose my business and I would risk losing my home because I would have to remortgage it. I can't really afford a payout like this — times are hard for the business."

Why are they hard? Because of the massive taxes and strangulating regulations imposed by the same cancerous government that rewards criminals and punishes their victims.

[Gilbert] started legal action claiming he had lost two years' earnings because of the trauma and distress he suffered and the psychological help he needed after the incident. The case was due to be heard at Basildon County Court on Monday but Mr Cremer said he could not risk the expense of fighting the claim.
It is understood Gilbert's civil claim was funded under the terms of a medical policy.

Given that Britain has socialized medicine, I wonder if that means that the reason Gilbert had nothing to lose with the preposterous lawsuit is that taxpayers were picking up the legal bills.

Tragically, if Britain hasn't rebelled against its insane moonbat kakistocracy by now, it never will. The once great nation is dead on its feet, its putrid corpse rotting as it shambles like a zombie to its grave.

Sadly, the sun has pretty much set on the British Empire.

Socialism Summed Up in Two Pictures

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:46 AM

Here's how Zimbabwe's socialist dictator Robert Mugabe lives:

Here's how his subjects live — if living is even the word for it:

Zimbabwe's predecessor Rhodesia was a wealthy country, known as the Breadbasket of Africa. But then came social justice. Whites were abruptly removed from power, and their farms were confiscated. Now the country is starving, with 95% unemployment and an inflation rate involving numbers too large to comprehend. But Mugabe still makes out great, thanks to foreign aid from the same moonbat do-gooders who pressured Rhodesia to slink submissively into its grave.

More pictures can be found at Reaganite Republican, who asks:

Can you imagine the horror of living in a country where — in a headlong rush to correct long-standing injustices overnight — almost unchecked power is forked-over to an anti-democratic communist who admires the Soviet Union… a narcissist and vengeful racist control-freak who's economically clueless… dangerous… and unqualified for the job…?

That would be pretty scary, wouldn't it?

Homosexual Militants Lay Siege to Cathedral

Posted by Dave Blount at 5:25 AM

Monday wasn't only Valentine's Day. It was also Freedom to Marry Day, marked by the second annual siege of Holy Name Cathedral, the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago, by militant perverts who demand the Christian religion be altered to facilitate their deviancy.

If people who advocate abortion can have the nerve to blasphemously call themselves Catholics, why not degenerates who build an identity around sexual perversion? But this is about politics, not religion.

"If we're going to win marriage equality within this state, we'll have to be out in the streets like we are today," said Andy Thayer, co-founder of the Gay Liberation Network, which helped organize the protest.

The idea is to intimidate the Church into dropping opposition to the liberal agenda, which involves carrying on the war against the family by reducing the concept of marriage to a tasteless joke. That would remove a major speed bump on the road to progressive utopia, previously known as Sodom and Gomorrah.

ATF Gives Guns to Mexican Drug Cartels to Undermine Second Amendment

Posted by Dave Blount at 2:09 PM

Oh what a tangled web bureauweenies weave when they attempt to use their power to acquire still more power by supporting statist canards with phony data. This time we're not talking about NASA and the global warming farce, but the ATF's practice of smuggling guns across the border so that it will look like the Second Amendment's fault that Mexican drug cartels are violent:

A brewing scandal at the Department of Justice involving an illegal scheme to pad statistics on U.S. guns in Mexico threatens to erupt as U.S. Senator Charles Grassley of the Senate Judiciary Committee begins an investigation. ATF agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives — a DOJ agency — allegedly smuggled U.S. guns into Mexico in order to bolster the Department's disputed contention that Mexican drug cartels are armed primarily with U.S. guns. Whistleblowers within the ATF contend that one of these guns was used to kill Border Patrol agent Brian A. Terry in December of 2010.

Readers will remember Terry as the underarmed Border Patrol agent killed while providing free police protection to the illegal aliens colonizing Arizona.

This won't come as a surprise:

Rather than launch an internal investigation into the murder and the illegal scheme, the Department of Justice under Eric Holder, according to ATF whistleblowers, instead attempted a coverup. …
Denials are now part of standard operating procedure at the DOJ as the news media and Senator Grassley close in. Grassley's inquiries have been met with stonewalling. But it appears that Grassley's office so far isn't buying DOJ denials.

As always, our moonbat rulers mean well. They just want to protect us from our own guns:

As violence continues to erupt along the southern border due primarily to the dangerous activity of the Mexican drug cartels, the standard explanation of the Obama Administration has been that the mayhem of the cartels can be laid squarely at the feet of so-called 'lax U.S. gun laws' that supposedly enable armed criminal activity. Were it not for U.S. guns, so the explanation goes, then dangerous Mexican gangs would not be so dire a threat to the safety and security of citizens who live in border states.

Here's a better explanation: Mexican gangs would not be so dire a threat if it not for a federal government more interested in demographically reengineering the country to Democrats' electoral benefit than in fulfilling its fundamental duty to defend the border.

France Surrenders to Hamster

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:27 PM

Some prime specimens of moonbattery appear briefly in the news, only to vanish again. I wonder what happened to last spring's story of a French business development stalled on behalf of hamsters:

Environmentalists have gone to court to try to block the transformation of 120 hectares of farmland into a business park, warning that the project threatens the last colony of wild hamsters in western Europe.
The "Great Hamster of Alsace" (Cricetus cricetus), also known as the black-bellied hamster, is one of the most threatened mammals in Europe, the European Commission has reported. … The environmental group Alsace Nature and its allies claim the area in the Bas-Rhin region is a key "reconquest zone" for the giant hamster.

"Reconquest zone" means they couldn't find any hamsters there anyway, but with the land closed off from constructive use, the critters might return.

The nocturnal rodent spends 80 per cent of its life underground and hibernates for six months every year. Until the 1960s, it was considered a pest.

More recently, farmers were strong-armed into planting alfalfa, because the hamsters prefer it to corn. The European Commission has threatened French taxpayers with a €17 million fine for not doing enough to protect the elusive hamsters' Habitrail, I mean habitat.

A local mayor estimated that forbidding the development would cost 2,000 to 3,000 jobs.

In the latest black-bellied hamster news, European Union bureauweenies continue to grumble about massive fines for not doing enough to secure the creatures' comfort.

LEDs Potentially Cause Cancer, Ruin Environment

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:04 AM

Compact fluorescents contain toxic mercury that will turn your house into a Superfund cleanup site if you break one. But fortunately we will have an alternative, even after our rulers ban safe and affordable incandescent bulbs as of next year on behalf of crony capitalist bankrollers like GE. Let's not forget LEDs:

Those light-emitting diodes marketed as safe, environmentally preferable alternatives to traditional lightbulbs actually contain lead, arsenic and a dozen other potentially hazardous substances, according to newly published research.
"LEDs are touted as the next generation of lighting. But as we try to find better products that do not deplete energy resources or contribute to global warming, we have to be vigilant about the toxicity hazards of those marketed as replacements," said Oladele Ogunseitan, chair of UC Irvine's Department of Population Health & Disease Prevention.

Unlike global warming, the toxic threat of LEDs is apparently real:

Lead, arsenic and many additional metals discovered in the bulbs or their related parts have been linked in hundreds of studies to different cancers, neurological damage, kidney disease, hypertension, skin rashes and other illnesses. The copper used in some LEDs also poses an ecological threat to fish, rivers and lakes. …
"I'm frustrated, but the work continues," said Ogunseitan, a member of the state Department of Toxic Substances Control's Green Ribbon Science Panel. … "Every day we don't have a law that says you cannot replace an unsafe product with another unsafe product, we're putting people's lives at risk," he said. "And it's a preventable risk."

Why again are incandescent bulbs an "unsafe product"? Oh yeah, they make it be too hot outside, endangering the sacred polar bears.

Hundreds of Deportable Criminal Aliens Released

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:07 AM

As Janet Napolitano would say, the system is working — by releasing hundreds of criminal aliens onto our streets:

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) failed to identify more than 800 criminal alien convicts eligible for deportation before they were released from U.S. prisons, including "many" of "the most egregious criminal aliens, who pose a significant pubic safety risk," according to a report by the Inspector General for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
According to the report, released on Feb. 4, ICE's Criminal Alien Program, or CAP, "is responsible for identifying criminal aliens incarcerated in federal, state, and local prisons and jails who are eligible for removal from the United States."
In fiscal year 2009, CAP failed to identify 890 criminal aliens eligible for removal from the United States, according to the report. These criminals had been incarcerated in facilities in Texas and California and were released back into U.S. society.
A criminal alien eligible for removal is a person who is in the United States illegally and is subsequently convicted of a crime or was a legal permanent resident convicted of a removable offense, such as murder and other felonies.

It's reassuring that even if sneaking into our country illegally is not grounds for removal, at least committing murder after you've done so technically is — provided ICE does its job.

"Many of the 890 criminals are believed to have been Level 1 recidivist criminals," the report added. "Level 1 are the most egregious criminal aliens, who pose a significant pubic safety risk." …
The audit blamed the "non-identification" of the 890 aliens specifically on ICE agent "staffing challenges" …

The main "staffing challenge" is that no agency is likely to be functional when those at the top of the bureaucratic pyramid have been selected by Comrade Obama, who obviously has no interest in keeping Democrat constituencies out of the country.

According to the report, ICE may have missed vetting some incarcerated criminal aliens eligible for removal because agents are not required to record aliens' immigration status.

Without recording this information, ICE certainly won't be deporting all deportable Reconquistadors. But then, with the border unsecured, they would just bounce back anyway. Because our rulers don't want the border respected, the entire immigration bureaucracy is a sham, existing only so that the Obama Misadministration has a lame excuse to forbid states from enforcing the law.

Time Magazine Duped by Palin-Aguilera Gag

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:50 AM

It wasn't just the trashy gossip rag US Weekly; the once influential Time magazine was also taken in by a gag article in which Sarah Palin supposedly denounced Christina Aguilera in an interview with Sean Hannity.

Palin is alleged to have called for the deportation of pop star Christina Aguilera as payback for her botched rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" at Super Bowl XLV.

Aguilera was born and raised in the USA.

TIME mentioned the fake Palin comment in passing last Friday in a critique of TV celebrity Conan O'Brien, who apparently overreacted for real to Aguilera's embarrassing gaffe. The Palin reference, which judging from TIME's typically hostile reaction to the former vice president candidate must have had the editors salivating, is contained in a single sentence with a link to the Current TV article:
And you thought Sarah Palin went overboard by commenting that she wanted to deport the singer.

Later Time amended the article with a "clarification" admitting that what they had published earlier wasn't true. Fortunately no one who isn't stuck with a long wait at the dentist's office reads Time anymore anyway.

Lame jokes at Al Gore's Current TV pass for facts at Time.

Strangled With Red Tape Outside Socialist Hospital

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:25 AM

If you're going to have an asthma attack, be sure not to do it in front of a hospital — at least not in a country with socialized medicine. Once again Britain lights to the way into our bleak collectivist future:

A student lay dying from an asthma attack outside a hospital after A&E [accident & emergency] staff refused to summon help, telling her friend to ring for an ambulance instead.
Melody Davis, 20, had been driven to casualty but her friends got stuck behind a barrier to a staff car park.
One of Miss Davis's friends ran 150 yards into the A&E department and asked a receptionist to summon help.
She was told she would have to dial 999 for an ambulance if she wanted emergency treatment.
The staff member refused to place the call and told the friend to use a phone in the reception area.

Rules are rules. The all-pervasive bureaucracy implicit in socialism reduces people to automatons who exist to obey them, oblivious to common sense.

By the time she returned to the car several minutes later, the Liverpool University student had collapsed and another friend was trying to resuscitate her.

Eventually the proper forms must have been filled out and the mandatory protocol complied with, because Miss Davis was finally taken into the hospital, where she died free of charge, compliments of socialized medicine.

Dead of socialism.

Moonbats Find New Excuse to Oppose Walmart

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:11 AM

Progressives loathe Walmart because it resists unionization, and is therefore in a position to offer goods at prices people can afford, as well as provide jobs to some who might otherwise be on welfare. Characteristically, they can't admit their true motives for opposing Walmart, so they have to come up with increasingly preposterous pretexts — like the threat of shoplifting:

Brenda Speaks, a Ward 4 ANC commissioner, actually urged blocking construction of the planned store in her ward at Georgia and Missouri avenues NW [in DC] partly because of that risk. Addressing a small, anti-Wal-Mart rally at City Hall on Monday, Speaks said young people would get criminal records when they couldn't resist the temptation to steal.

No stores, no shoplifting, no criminal records. We can just fence off poor neighborhoods and have the government drop free food on them from airplanes. Another problem has been solved by the wise bureaucrats who rule us.

Speak for Sheila Jackson Lee

Here's how moonbat congresscritter Sheila Jackson Lee responds to Republican attempts to slightly lessen the crushing burden of federal regulation:

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) said Friday that House Republicans were blocking the proper functioning of the lower chamber by debating a bill instructing committees to give closer scrutiny to regulations.
"What we will be doing is ignoring the people's business of creating jobs and frankly putting ourselves in the role of a clogged toilet," said Lee. "That means we are doing nothing. We are stuffed up."
Republicans, flush [yuk yuk] with election victory, however, responded that clearing unneeded regulation was one important way to kick-start the economy and create jobs.

Hurricane Ike: Yet Another Reason Not to Rely on Government

Posted by Dave Blount at 2:18 PM

Remember Hurricane Ike? It hit Galveston in 2008. Residents are still waiting for promised help from Big Government:

Jeff Collins and his wife might leave Galveston Island if things don't change. Frustrated with a federal housing program and living in a battered home, they might shutter their local linen business, cross the causeway and move away.
The Collinses are among 2,000 applicants for a multimillion-dollar disaster assistance program meant to repair or rebuild island homes damaged during Hurricane Ike.
They also are among an uncounted, but clearly large number, of islanders who've grown exasperated with a program that, 24 months after the storm, has begun repair work on fewer than a dozen houses.

Government bureauweenies are good at burying people in paperwork…

If applicants meet initial eligibility, they have to submit paperwork, such as title documents of ownership, utility receipts and employment verification…
Each applicant also has to prove household income by gathering six months of income information from those 18 or older living at the house.
Finally, residents have to submit duplication of benefits documentation, which includes any homeowner or flood insurance or Small Business Administration or Federal Emergency Management Agency funds.

…but not so good at actually getting anything done. Typically, they prevent anyone else from getting anything done either.

Repairs to Collins' house were estimated to cost about $70,000. He isn't allowed to make any major repairs himself — doing so could void his application. …
To add another challenge for Collins, his home is historic. Under national law, all federally funded work on buildings listed or eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places must pass a review from the state Historical Commission.

It would have been much faster and possibly cheaper to just fix the house himself, letting Big Government keep its free money.

"The air-conditioning ducts are under my house and just rusting away," [Collins] said. "My light bill is running $700 to $800 a month because the heater is just running constantly to heat the outside and inside."

At least now we know what's causing the ice caps to allegedly melt.

If only Mr. Collins had fixed his own air conditioning ducts.

Different Names, Same ACORN Moonbattery and Corruption

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:00 AM

Did you think the O'Keefe/Giles revelations of criminal degeneracy finally put a stake through the heart of Comrade Obama's alma mater ACORN? Think again:

As the remnants of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now regroup in order to bring chaos to the 2012 election cycle, ACORN's renamed New York chapter is teeming with activity.
The successor organization, called New York Communities for Change (NYCC), operates out of the same office on Nevins Street in Brooklyn that is home to ACORN and its partisan arm, the socialist Working Families Party of New York.
Longtime ACORN leader Jon Kest is executive director of NYCC. Kest is the brother of Steve Kest, former executive director of ACORN, who has joined fellow radical community organizer Van Jones as a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress, a liberal think tank that functions as a public relations firm for the Obama administration.
The "new" ACORN group has already held a glittering fund-raiser featuring "Sex in the City" actress Cynthia Nixon and U.S. Rep. Jose Serrano (D.-N.Y.), both longtime ACORN supporters.

Readers may remember Jose Serrano as the guy who wants to repeal the 22nd Amendment so that The Anointed One may sit upon his throne for as long as he lives, à la FDR.

Recent activities by NYCC include harassing Walmart for providing jobs and affordable goods while resisting unionization, teaming up with ACORN's twin sibling the SEIU on a phony but potentially lucrative PCB crisis, pushing for amnesty and "green jobs" boondoggles, and preventing children from escaping failed public schools.

Other local ACORN chapters have been renaming themselves and will soon refederate. Fortunately for Comrade Obama, who will be needing ACORN help in 2012, its voter fraud operations weren't even interrupted by the nefarious organization's supposed demise:

ACORN's fraud-plagued Project Vote affiliate, which used to employ President Obama, continues to operate. It ran a nationwide voter registration and get-out-the-vote drive during the 2010 election cycle. The 2010 effort was run by Amy Adele Busefink, a senior ACORN executive who was convicted in a voter-fraud conspiracy in Nevada in early January. Busefink received a two-year suspended prison sentence. ACORN itself is scheduled to go on trial in Las Vegas on April 25 for its involvement in the same conspiracy.

No doubt tax money is being funneled into ACORN-affiliated coffers even now, securing the framework for the Manchurian Moonbat's reelection.

Brits Warned Not to Defend Property With Wire Mesh

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:25 AM

In an attempt to defend their possessions from the rising tide of lawlessness engulfing moonbattery-ravaged Britain, some have been reinforcing garden sheds with wire mesh. But police warn that this only makes the situation worse — because if robbers cut themselves, they will use the deranged legal system to continue their thievery in court.

Thomas Cooper, of Tatsfield, Surrey, used wire mesh to protect three of his garden sheds after two break-ins over the past four years. He decided to take action after reports of a rise in garden raids in the area.
Mr Cooper said: "I reinforced my shed windows with wire mesh, but was told by the police I had to be very careful because thieves can actually sue you if they get hurt."

Another disadvantage of making it difficult to break into sheds is that the thieves might opt to steal the whole thing and break in at their leisure elsewhere.

Last month Samantha Cullum, a mother-of-three, of Brasted, near Sevenoaks in Kent, had her whole shed stolen when thieves lifted it on to a lorry.
She said: "We had some tools stolen every now and again, but this time they took the entire shed — I couldn't believe it."

With the useless thieves running the government stealing half of their income, what's really hard to believe is that anyone makes a fuss over a stolen garden shed.

Caution: if burglars scratch themselves, they'll sue.

Jan Brewer Fires Back at Obama–Mexico Alliance

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:45 PM

Incredibly, the White House has sided with a foreign power against a state that it is invading and colonizing, rendering the contract between the federal government and the states null and void — yet there has been no move to impeach our treasonous rogue president. But at least Arizona Governor Jan Brewer is putting up a fight in the courts:

Gov. Jan Brewer sued the federal government Thursday for failing to control Arizona's border with Mexico and enforce immigration laws, and for sticking the state with huge costs associated with jailing illegal immigrants who commit crimes.
The lawsuit claims the federal government has failed to protect Arizona from an "invasion" of illegal immigrants.

What's with the sneer quotes? You would have to be more clueless than Bureau of Land Management bureauweenies not to know that Arizona has been subjected to an invasion.

Just south of Phoenix, via Great Satan, Inc.

Brewer's suit serves as a countersuit to blockage of SB1070 by Obama's Injustice Department.

Arizona's enforcement law was passed amid years of complaints that the federal government hasn't done enough to lessen the state's role as the nation's busiest illegal entry point. Its passage ignited protests over whether the law would lead to racial profiling, and prompted lawsuits by the Justice Department, civil rights groups and other opponents [including the Mexican government] seeking to have it thrown out.

If Obama's alliance with Mexico against Arizona doesn't make it clear that he is not governing in the best interests of the United States, what would?

Enemy of our enemies, foreign and domestic.

Mandatory Insurance for Dogs

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:10 AM

What's next for government overreach, if Big Government is able to force us to buy medical insurance per ObamaCare? How about forcing us to buy insurance for our pets?

State Rep. Ruth Jones McClendon (D-San Antonio) has introduced a bill that would require any Texan who owns a male dog which weighs 20 pounds or more and is not neutered to have an insurance policy covering injuries or damage caused by that dog when it is off the leash or out of the dog's yard, 1200 WOAI's Michael Board reports. …
"This does not in any way penalize dogs, or prevent people from enjoying the benefits of dog ownership," she said.

Of course it does. Anything the government makes more expensive and complicated through regulation, it to some extent prevents. This why as Big Government grows still more gargantuan with every passing day, our lives get correspondingly smaller.

Even dogs are fed up with overregulation.

Canada Takes Tentative Step Toward Freedom of the Press

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:08 AM

Even in Canada, though it often gutters low, the flame of liberty is still alive.

A CRTC [Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission] proposal that could make it easier to broadcast false or misleading news has prompted confusion and criticism among opposition MPs and consternation in at least one of the unions that represents Canadian journalists. …
A little-watched committee of Parliament has been pressing the [CRTC] for many years to do something about a regulation that bans the broadcast of false or misleading news because the wording appears to contravene the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Yes, screech liberals, but what about our freedom to never hear anything that doesn't reinforce our point of view? The "accuracy" of information not being subject to approval by likeminded bureaucrats has smoke jetting from their ears:

"If implemented, this change will throw wide the doors to the lies and manipulation of Fox News-style television; if implemented, this change will usher in an era in which venomous, fact-eschewing news media will shape the destiny of Canada," writes one woman from Toronto.

The proposed new wording would make it illegal to report information only if those reporting it know it isn't true and it "endangers or is likely to endanger the lives, health or safety of the public." On top of this there are laws for libel and slander, not to mention the trouble people like Mark Steyn get in for offending privileged special interest groups like Muslims.

But this isn't good enough for open-minded liberals, who insist on the government having the power to suppress any information deemed to be "false or misleading." Canadians certainly can't have people watching "Fox News-style television" and then questioning the progressive establishment's narrative.

ObamaCare Will Kill 800,000 Jobs

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:01 AM

…unless we kill ObamaCare first. Here's what Congressional Budget Office Director Doug Elmendorf has to say about ObamaCare's effect on the already stratospheric unemployment rate:

Rep. [John] Campbell: Thank you, Mr. Chairman, we'll — and Dr. Elmendorf — and we'll continue this conversation right now. First on health care, before I get to — before I get to broader issues, you just mentioned that you believe — or that in your estimate, that the health care law would reduce the labor used in the economy by about 1/2 of 1 percent, given that, I believe you say, there's 160 million full-time people working in '20-'21. That means that, in your estimation, the health care law would reduce employment by 800,000 in '20-'21. Is that correct?
Director Elmendorf: Yes. The way I would put it is that we do estimate, as you said, that… employment will be about 160 million by the end of the decade. Half a percent of that is 800,000.

ObamaCare will have an even more catastrophic effect on the looming deficit crisis. It is not so much a healthcare bill or even a power grab as an act of economic sabotage. If America is ever to return to the pre-Obama days of economic promise, this abomination must be completely destroyed, and the malignant statists who tried to impose it removed from office at the soonest opportunity.

Compact Fluorescents Are Fire Hazard

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:30 AM

There's yet another reason to resent the overpriced, flickering, dim, and toxic curlicue light bulbs our moonbat rulers are imposing on us as of next year on behalf of their crony capitalist bankrollers:

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with the firm named below … announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
Name of Product: Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs
Units: 124,000
Importer: Eastern America Trio Products Inc. of Flushing, N.Y.
Hazard: Light bulb can overheat and catch fire.
Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received four reports of incidents, including two fires that resulted in minor property damage.

It is a known if underpublicized fact that using compact fluorescents in outdoor or enclosed fixtures can lead to fire, and that breaking one of them can lead to your home being declared a toxic waste site due to the mercury they contain. But as of next year, you'll have to use them anyway. It may not help the polar bears, but it will certainly help big corporations like GE, which won't have to worry about competition from small firms that can produce the simpler and cheaper incandescent light bulbs most people prefer.

Director of National Intelligence Describes Islamic Brotherhood as Peaceful and Secular

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:25 AM

At least now we know why the Obama Misadministration didn't see the Egypt situation coming and has no clue how to deal with it. Apparently by appointing people on the basis of leftist ideology rather than meaningful qualifications, Comrade Obama has put himself in the position of relying for information on folks like Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, best known for being completely unaware of a major terror plot that had recently been foiled in London. Here Claptrap informs us that the Muslim Brotherhood is "largely secular" and "has eschewed violence":

A more profoundly inaccurate characterization of the Muslim Brotherhood — which assassinated Anwar Sadat, spun off the blood-drenched Hamas as its Palestinian wing, and appears to serve as a sort of farm team for al Qaeda — would be impossible to imagine. This is the group's official motto:

Allah is our objective, the Prophet is our leader, the Koran is our law, Jihad is our way, and dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope. Allahu akbar!

Crapper probably couldn't find Egypt on map, but even so, the name Muslim Brotherhood would clue in anyone with an IQ above plant life that this is not a secular organization.

Not even an Obama official could believe something so preposterous. But for him to expect anyone else to believe it is even more absurd. Whatever, if anything, is going on in Claptrap's head, one thing is clear: our rogue government is maneuvering itself into position to facilitate Islamic radicals seizing control of the Suez Canal.

US Weekly Publishes Palin–Aguilera Spoof as Factual

Posted by Dave Blount at 3:01 PM

Some stories are too good to check — like any story that supports the liberal establishment's caricature of Sarah Palin:

Us Weekly has published what it claims are comments made by Sarah Palin, in which the former vice presidential candidate blasts Christina Aguilera's performance of the national anthem at Super Bowl XLV.
Except the over-the-top "quotes," which Us Weekly attributes to a Monday radio interview with Sean Hannity, were actually written for a satire website. …
The fake "Palin" … talks about wanting to "deport" Aguilera, because "spicy Latin princesses" shouldn't be allowed to sing at the Super Bowl.
"Unemployment is at nine percent, yet we have to suffer through a performance by a foreigner with a poor grasp of the English language," the fake "Palin" supposedly tells "Hannity" in the phony interview.

Christina Aguilera was born in Staten Island and grew up around Pittsburgh.

However badly Aguilera botched the anthem last Sunday, Us Weekly just did a hundred times worse.

Fortunately for US Weekly, its readership is too lost in a fog of moonbattery, intellectual sloth, and general cluelessness to ever know the difference.

Muslims and Moonbats Agree: Down With Valentine's Traditions!

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:59 PM

In a potentially rocky marriage like the one between Islamic fundamentalists and degenerate liberals, it's important to focus on the commonalities that bind the partners together — like hatred of Valentine's Day traditions.

As we've seen, this is the time of year for Muslims to storm gift shops, setting fire to anything that reminds them of the evidently non–sharia-compliant holiday.

For their moonbat allies, the problem is that Valentine's chocolates oppress Africans. Yes, they're serious:

As chocolatiers plan for one of their biggest sales weeks of the year, human rights activists are stepping up efforts to make consumers think twice before purchasing the traditional box of chocolates for their sweethearts for Valentine's Day on Monday.
One online campaign is aimed at raising awareness of the cocoa trade in Ivory Coast, which is helping to prop up the pariah regime of incumbent President Laurent Gbagbo, while another focuses on ending the alleged use of child labor by growers in West Africa, which produces about two-thirds of the world's cocoa.

Cocoa is one of the few things Africa has to offer the world economically. What will be the effect on the brown-skinned urchins progressives so piously champion if they manage to cripple this key industry with their sanctimonious boycotts? Who cares? Liberalism is concerned with making moonbats feel good about themselves, not with the damage inflicted on others.

Cupid meets the Muslim–moonbat alliance.

No Airborne Cows, Despite What You Read in the New York Times

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:15 AM

What a colorful world it must be for those who actually believe the risible nonsense published in the erstwhile "Paper of Record." Readers are advised to avoid the many corrections the New York Times must publish — those ruin the fun. Here's a classic example:

An article on Nov. 10 about animal rights referred erroneously to an island in the Indian Ocean and to events there involving goats and endangered giant sea sparrows that could possibly lead to the killing of goats by environmental groups. Wrightson Island does not exist; both the island and the events are hypothetical figments from a book (also mentioned in the article), ''Beginning Again,'' by David Ehrenfeld. No giant sea sparrow is known to be endangered by the eating habits of goats.

More recently:

An article on Jan. 16 about drilling for oil off the coast of Angola erroneously reported a story about cows falling from planes, as an example of risks in any engineering endeavor. No cows, smuggled or otherwise, ever fell from a plane into a Japanese fishing rig. The story is an urban legend, and versions of it have been reported in Scotland, Germany, Russia and other locations.

I'm still waiting for a correction on a still more preposterous story the Slimes ran claiming that this bitter cold winter has been evidence that the global warming hoax is actually real.

Maybe the Times should stop using fairy tales as sources.

Canadian Government Facilitates Heroin Addiction

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:53 AM

Going for the jugular: tax dollars at work.

If not for Big Government's warm and comforting arms, tail-spinning losers wouldn't be able to commit slow suicide with heroin in bureaucrat-approved safety, like they can at Vancouver's "safe injection site" Insite:

There, addicts get clean needles, which they are not allowed to share with anyone else.
In return, they are safe from robbery, which is common on the streets outside, and from arrest. Insite has a special exemption from Canada's narcotics laws.
They also know that if they overdose, they won't die. In Insite's seven years of operation, there have been more than 1,000 overdoses inside, but not a single death. (Mild overdoses are treated with oxygen, serious ones with Narcan, an opiate blocker.)
Also, the staff nurses give medical care: They drain and bandage abscesses from dirty needles, hand out condoms, offer gynecological exams and treatment for sexual diseases, refer addicts to treatment and offer AIDS tests.

The nurses also help them find veins to inject poison into. Addicts do have to push the plungers themselves, although it is asking a lot of them.

Cost to junkie lowlifes: nothing. As always, decent people who lead responsible lives pick up the tab for subsidizing degeneracy in places like Insite's Downtown Eastside neighborhood:

Even on a balmy fall afternoon, having 5,000 addicts concentrated in a small neighborhood can make a walk feel like a visit to the set of a zombie movie. On its core blocks, dozens of people are shuffling or staggering, flinching with cocaine tics, scratching scabs. Except for the young women dressed to lure customers for sex, many are in dirt-streaked clothing that hangs from their emaciated frames. Drugs and cash are openly exchanged.
The alleys are worse — people squat to suck on crack pipes, openly undress to find veins or lie down so friends can inject their jugulars — a practice, known as "jugging," that Insite discourages [but not very forcefully, judging by the picture above]. The puddles, smelling of urine and feces, are sometimes drawn up into syringes…

Welcome to the North America of our glorious socialist future. This is what progressivism is progressing toward: a world in which no one would ever vote for conservatives.

For now the grownups are still around, trying to spoil the fun. But liberal social engineers control the courts just as they do here:

Insite opened when the Liberal Party was in power. The Conservative-led government that came to power in 2006 has sued to shut it. Local courts have refused to close it, accepting the city's argument that an addict's need for opiates is like a diabetic's for insulin and that a citizen's right to health — recognized in Canada's version of the Bill of Rights — outweighs narcotics law.

Under the rule of moonbats, property is not a human right. Freedom of speech and self-defense are not human rights. Forcing someone else to pay for your medical care while you inject narcotics into your jugular vein — now that's a human right.

Berkeley to Roll Out Red Carpet for Club Gitmo Vacationers

The moonbats running Berkeley have made it as clear as they can that the US Marines are not welcome in their town. The worst-of-the-worst terrorists detained at Guantanamo Bay are another matter:

Berkeley officials are considering inviting Guantanamo detainees to live in the city.
The City Council is scheduled to vote next week on a resolution that would extend a formal invitation to any detainees at the U.S. naval base who have been cleared of wrongdoing. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the city is eyeing two detainees — Djamel Ameziane, an Algerian chef, and Ravil Mingazov, a Russian ballet dancer.

Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates might want to think twice about importing a Russian ballet dancer linked to Islamic terrorism. With that resume, Mince-a-zov could be competition in the next election.

More Code Pink Irony in Egypt

For these avidly antimilitary (examples here, here, here, here, here, here, and here) harpies, only one thing: to be rescued by a pro-American army officer. Code Pink cofounder Medea Benjamin reports her misadventures:

Soon we were surrounded by a dozen pro-Mubarak thugs who started yelling in Arabic and broken English that foreigners like us were causing all the trouble in Egypt.
They said they were policemen but none was wearing a uniform. They seized our passports and then four of these characters squeezed into our taxi to "take us to government headquarters." Frantic, we started calling everyone we knew — local lawyers and activists, friends back home, the U.S. Embassy.
Soon the car stopped at an intersection manned by about ten soldiers. The officer in charge peered into the car and asked us where we were from. "Americans," he smiled with approval. "I love America." He started chatting about his training in Ft. Eustis, Virginia, while we sat terrified. To our amazement, he ordered our kidnappers to get out of our taxi, return our passports and let us go.

What will Ms. Benjamin learn from her experience? I'm guessing nothing. After all, she's called on the military for help before.

Government Rail to the Edge of the Abyss

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:00 AM

Compliments of Cons.Underground.

From now until the day our entire economy collapses under the weight of government debt is a wonderful time to be a corrupt bureaucrat or crony capitalist, as made obvious by Comrade Obama's recently announced "high speed" rail boondoggle:

At Philadelphia's 30th Street Station on Tuesday, lifelong government rail promoter Vice President Joe Biden unveiled a $53 billion high-speed train initiative and half-joked: "I'm like the ombudsman for Amtrak." As with most gaffetastic Biden-isms, the remark should prompt more heartburn than hilarity. Just who exactly is looking out for taxpayers when it comes to federal rail spending?

Not government watchdogs. That could prove harmful to their careers.

In June 2009, longtime veteran Amtrak inspector general Fred Weiderhold was abruptly "retired" — just as the government-subsidized rail service faced mounting complaints about its meddling in financial audits and probes. He had blown the whistle on overzealous intrusion by the agency's Law Department into his investigations of $1.3 billion in rail stimulus money and exposed how Amtrak's legal counsel had usurped the watchdog's $5 million portion of federal stimulus dollars to hamstring his probes. Even more threatening to the Democratic attorneys' cabal, Weiderhold discovered that the federal rail bureaucracy was retaining outside law firms beyond the independent watchdog's reach and obstructing subpoenas issued to an outside financial adviser. …
Compounding matters now, cronyism runs rampant in the federal rail bureaucracy. Biden's lobbyist son, Hunter, sits on the Amtrak board of directors. Amtrak Vice President Eleanor Acheson is a close pal of — you guessed it — Joe Biden. She oversees the very Law Department accused of interfering repeatedly with the taxpayer advocates in the inspector general's office. Acheson hired Biden's former Senate staffer Jonathan Meyer as her deputy general counsel. Meyer called it a "happy coincidence."

Crony capitalist GE is recouping its investment in Obama's presidency in spades:

In another such fortuitous coincidence, one of the top beneficiaries of the new White House rail bailout is GE Transportation — the leading manufacturer of diesel-electric locomotives.

The Foundry notes that you shouldn't take seriously the rhetoric about the "high speed" rail being high speed:

The "high speed" adjective invokes thoughts of bullet trains speeding at 150 mph, 200 mph or more. The reality of Obama's plan is — at best — the 85 mph that is the average speed of America's fastest train, the Amtrak-run Acela.
When Obama claims his trains would reach 100 mph and more, he's talking about peak speed reached only for short stretches, not the average.

Let's hope Obama's rhetoric about giving unneeded and unwanted access to "high speed" rail to 80% of the country isn't to be taken seriously either.

Obama's $63-billion is just a drop in the bucket … when compared to the hundreds of billions — if not trillions — his ultimate plan would require (to "give access" to 80% of the country).
Except for our coastal areas, most of America lacks the population density that makes rail more feasible in places like Europe, Japan or China.

The $63 billion figure above includes $10 billion already allocated to this particular rat hole.

At least the unaffordable and infeasible medium speed rail will benefit the sacred man-eating polar bears. Or maybe not:

If you compare auto emissions on highways, they're no worse than rail emissions. Rail has an advantage only if you compare long-distance train trips with car emissions from stop-and-go driving in the city. …
The lack of energy or pollution savings leaves us with the key problem: Huge expense with little benefit.

We are approaching an abyss. But the frenzied looting by Obama and friends will not stop until either they are removed from power or our once great nation collapses into insolvency.

Social Scientist Discovers That Social Scientists Are Narrow-Minded Moonbats

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:33 AM

A social scientist has made a remarkable discovery — remarkable because a social scientist made it. To the rest of us it was already obvious:

Discrimination is always high on the agenda at the Society for Personality and Social Psychology's conference, where psychologists discuss their research on racial prejudice, homophobia, sexism, stereotype threat and unconscious bias against minorities. But the most talked-about speech at this year's meeting, which ended Jan. 30, involved a new "outgroup."
It was identified by Jonathan Haidt, a social psychologist at the University of Virginia who studies the intuitive foundations of morality and ideology. He polled his audience at the San Antonio Convention Center, starting by asking how many considered themselves politically liberal. A sea of hands appeared, and Dr. Haidt estimated that liberals made up 80 percent of the 1,000 psychologists in the ballroom. When he asked for centrists and libertarians, he spotted fewer than three dozen hands. And then, when he asked for conservatives, he counted a grand total of three.
"This is a statistically impossible lack of diversity," Dr. Haidt concluded, noting polls showing that 40 percent of Americans are conservative and 20 percent are liberal. In his speech and in an interview, Dr. Haidt argued that social psychologists are a "tribal-moral community" united by "sacred values" that hinder research and damage their credibility — and blind them to the hostile climate they've created for non-liberals.

According to Dr. Haidt,

"If a group circles around sacred values, they will evolve into a tribal-moral community," he said. "They'll embrace science whenever it supports their sacred values, but they'll ditch it or distort it as soon as it threatens a sacred value."

Liberals forming a moral community? Now that would be news.

Next big scoop: dog bites man.

Nancy Pelosi Calls for Ban on the Word Hate

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:57 AM

One of the many frightening aspects of George Orwell's 1984 is the way bureaucrats limit human thought by eliminating words from the language. Once again, liberals are using the book not as a warning, but as a Tyranny for Dummies guide:

Fired former Speaker of the House and current Minority Leader, Nancy Pelosi, is going on record as saying that she wants to use censorship to ban one, particular word that she does not like. The word? "Hate." To hear Pelosi tell it, she really hates it when other Americans use the word "hate" in a political context. Pelosi's overreaction is in response to the Bill O'Reilly Superbowl interview with Barack Obama, in which the host asked the president about the number of people who hate him. Pelosi's reply to the O'Reilly question was swift and confident: Simply stop using the word, and everything will be fine.

From the point of view Pelousy would like us to share, no one objects to Comrade Obama's forced collectivism; we just hate him for racial reasons, since anyone who doesn't identify with the liberal elite must be a bigot. But if our bureaucratic overlords confiscate the word hate from our vocabulary the way they confiscate our earnings, we won't be able to hate him anymore. Then we will embrace socialism and all be united under the heel of Big Government.

Political harmony could be further promoted by banning the words liberty, independence, dignity, and mine.

Not even the English language is safe from Nasty's ideas.

Mandatory Arabic Language and Culture Classes

Posted by Dave Blount at 1:02 PM

So that's what the US Department of Education is for — using our money to see to it that American kids are forced to take Arabic language and culture classes. From Texas:

Some Students at Mansfield ISD schools could soon be learning Arabic as a required language. The school district wants students at select schools to take Arabic language and culture classes as part of a federally funded grant.
The Foreign Language Assistance Program (FLAP) grant was awarded to Mansfield ISD last summer by the U.S. Department of Education.
As part of the five-year $1.3 million grant, Arabic classes would be mandatory at Cross Timbers Intermediate School and Kenneth Davis Elementary School. The program would also be optional for students at T. A. Howard Middle School and Summit High School. …
The DOE has identified Arabic as a 'language of the future.'

At least we're seeing some consistency from the Obamination Administration, which has been doing all it can on every front to see to it that Arabic rather than English is the language of the future.

B. Hussein could teach the culture classes.

British Court Rules Against Having Sex If You're Stupid

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:09 AM

A key component of progressive ideology — going back before Hitler to liberal deity Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood — is that Big Government must dictate who may reproduce, so that we don't get too many "human weeds." Here's one way they implement this policy in Britain:

In a case which is fascinating both legally and morally, a judge in the Court of Protection has ruled that a 41-year-old man with a mild learning disability did not have the mental capacity to consent to sex and should be prevented by a local council from doing so.

This means you'd better check the IQ score of potential partners. Intimate relations with someone deemed by bureaucrats not to be smart enough for sex could be considered rape.

Olbermann Hits Rock Bottom at Current TV

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:06 AM

Remember when the disgraced Dan Rather, having been caught trying to throw the 2004 election to Hanoi John Kerry with crudely forged documents, was reduced to crawling into an obscure pit called HDNet? Other than his remark about Obama not being able to sell watermelons, we haven't heard much from him since. Keith Olbermann, face of the Angry Left, has submitted to a still more undignified fate. Having been canned from MSNBC, he will soon spew his spittle on the unwatched adolescent farce known as Current TV:

Keith Olbermann, the former MSNBC anchor, will host a prime time program for Current TV, the low-rated cable channel co-founded by Al Gore. The one-hour program will begin sometime in the spring. …
The channel may be betting on Mr. Olbermann to put it on the cable map. The low-rated five-year-old channel needs the help. Targeting young people, it originally subsisted on YouTube-style submissions and video journalists. More recently it started producing and acquiring traditional television series, like repeats of "This American Life." …
Current TV is available in only about 60 million homes, and is usually provided only on the digital tier of cable television systems, which requires a separate receiver.

Look at the bright side, Queef: from here there's nowhere to go but up.

Gallup: American Public Becoming Extremely Dissatisfied

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:09 AM

They say Comrade Obama got caught with his pants down on Egypt; he should have seen that the country was ready to blow. You could say the same about another country I know…

Nearly 7 out of 10 Americans say they are dissatisfied with the size and power of the federal government and with nation's moral and ethical climate, says the Gallup Poll.

Fortunately, despite the disastrous consequences in 2008, we are still able to believe in our electoral system, so revolution here needn't feature violence in the streets.

However, our rogue government is so far out of control, people are losing faith. In January 2002, 76% were satisfied with our system of government and how well it works. That has dropped like a rock to an alarming 42%.

In addition to grotesquely inflating the size and power of the federal government, liberals have used their control of the media to poison our culture. People don't like it:

The greatest public dissatisfaction … is with the moral and ethical climate of the country. Today, 69 percent of Americans say they are dissatisfied with that climate, while 30 percent say they are satisfied.
There has been a ten-point shift on this question over the past three years. In January 2008, the last time Gallup asked the question, 59 percent of Americans said they were dissatisfied with the moral and ethical climate of the country, while 39 percent said they were satisfied.

The folks who brought us Hope & Change aren't winning hearts and minds.

Speaking of Hopey Change, here's what Obama's policy of "spreading the wealth around" is doing to our belief in the usefulness of trying:

In the most recent poll, 55 percent said they were satisfied with the opportunity for a person to get ahead by working hard, while 44 percent said they were dissatisfied. Three years ago, in January 2008, when George W. Bush was still president, 68 percent said they were satisfied with the opportunity for a person to get ahead by working hard, while 31 percent said they were dissatisfied.

A 13-point drop in just a few years makes it clear that the Moonbat Messiah really is fundamentally transforming America, just like he promised — and Americans want it transformed back.

The vast chasm between the decent, pro-liberty American people and the degenerate socialists who rule us creates an inherently unstable situation that can't be sustained. The revolt that began with the Tea Parties and the 2010 elections is only just beginning.

The spirit still lives.

Virginia Military Institute Celebrates Muslim Victory Over the West

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:50 AM

The disease called moonbattery kills from within by attacking the most vital centers. The Virginia Military Institute has been home to Stonewall Jackson and George Patton. Now it produces politically correct celebrations of Muslim victories over Western Civilization.

Next month [Jackson's] beloved Virginia Military Institute will be convening a celebration commemorating the 1300th anniversary of the invasion and occupation of Spain under the Muslim warlord Tariq ibn Ziyad in 711 A.D. The March 23-25 celebration entitled "711-2011: East Meets West" and organized by VMI's Center for Leadership and Ethics, is scheduled to feature standard Muslim apologists Reza Aslan and Akbar Ahmed. VMI Superintendent Gen. J.H. Binford Peay has even filmed an invitation to the celebration.

Next they'll rename December 7 as "East Meets West Day." But the Muslim conquest of Spain caused far more long-lasting damage than Pearl Harbor, despite the multiculti pabulum dished out by event organizers about how "Muslims, Christians, and Jews thrived side by side" under the thumb of Islamic rule.

Reza Aslan is scheduled to speak on a panel entitled "'Al-Andalus' — an ageless Model of Tolerance", but it is doubtful that Aslan and his co-panelists will be discussing the widespread persecution of Christians and Jews under Muslim rule that led to the establishment of an entirely new class of Roman Catholic martyrs, "the Cordoba martyrs", or the 1066 massacre of Jews and crucifixion their leader Joseph ha-Nagid in "tolerant" Cordoba. The great Jewish scholar Maimonides and his family fled "tolerant" Cordoba after the Muslim conquest of the city in 1148, when the new occupiers gave Jews the option of converting to Islam, death or exile. A similar persecution emulating the Almohad's "model of tolerance" prompted Maimonides to write his famous Epistle on Forced Conversion to the Jewish community in Yemen. The myth of "the Golden Age of Muslim Spain" has gained recent attention from the attempts by the Ground-Zero mosque promoters to appropriate the narrative in support of their "Cordoba Initiative".

Reconquering Spain is a stated goal of al Qaeda, which must appreciate the propaganda support provided by liberal useful idiots.

Jackson and Patton aren't the only ones rolling in their graves. Charles Martel — who prevented the Muslim conquest of France — and the many brave Spaniards who threw off Islamic rule during the Reconquista can't be resting easy either.

Celebrating Islam's long history of aggression.

HuffPo Moonbats React to AOL Deal With Shrieks of Despair

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:11 AM

The commie moonbats hanging from the ceiling in the dank and fetid cave known as Huffington Post are not reacting favorably to news that Arianna Huffington has sold them out to wicked corporate America. Air2air has gathered a few comments from her post announcing the sale of HuffPo to AOL for $315 million more than it's worth:

Jennifer Mead
Looks like the death of the Huffington Post as a good place to go read and blog.
Livin in Spin
It's a sad day to be a young progressive. I live in a red state, and I rarely find people who understand politics, let alone have the capacity to discuss the issues. I was promised free press when I was in grade school. Who can I trust to reveal the truth? Where can I go where corporate propaganda will not saturate the news?
aaaaaannnnnnd I'm done reading huffpost. One more media conglomeration.
well, it seems like just yesterday when corporate media consolidation was a bad thing.
Maybe Keith will start his own web site, or his own network.
If this turns out to be a "sell-out" which in my deepest heart I believe, it will terminate my relationship with HuffPo and imo, a whole host of others who are tired of 'corporate dominance'… :(

Welp, I won't have to worry about spending time here anymore. I can get corporate-funded news on every other network and website. Thanks while it lasted, Huff Post.
There's a basic contradiction with this merger. You can't have engaged political/social discussions on an MSM website.
First Keith, now this. What's next?!?!
Brad Majors
HP needs to run a poll to see how many will be leaving.
Calvin Ravenwood
Will there be anyone left to have a poll besides all the socks?
Curt Miller
So Disappointed… Any recommendations on another progressive site that won,t/hasn't sold out?
Julien Jimenez
I can't not believe this. This website was the beacon of hope that educated the people with actual facts, NOT FOX OPINIONS OR DRUDGE MISINFORMATION. Now that it has been taken by a corprate gian (like everything else) the hope of once living in democracy and not in corporate america have diminish.
This seems like a good jumping off point for me. I have been here too long as it is. This site has been going downhill for the last 2 years. Good luck Ms. Huffington.
This deal while probably good for Huufpo/AOL profits spells the end of Huffpo as we know it. Huffpo is now officially part of the Establishment Media. It's time for me to move on.
Farewell to huffpo and all the friends I made while I was a member of the huffpo community. My disappointment has turned to sadness and I'm at a loss for words.
I'm very upset this morning. Wish they would open a thread so we could all discuss and say goodbye to those who are leaving.
I'm one that will be jumping off this bus. As a matter of fact, after this post, I'm deleting my account. A company as god-awful as AOL will have access to my history/comments and will probably use them to build a profile of me to exploit in some way shape or form in the not to distant future… So, I must wish you the best and bid you farewell - ragtag is signing off…
Another bastion of courageous progressive journalism bites the proverbial dust. Like Olbermann and MSNBC, AOL will create a corporate culture where the company line of pro-business, pro-conservative talking points must be obeyed. A real shame.
To my understanding, at one time it seemed Arianna was against such mergers in media outlets…
Good Bye, fellow progressives.

On and on they snivel and whimper, as if George W. Bush had somehow been elected to a third term. They should be congratulating their former cult leader on getting such a high price for them. Considering how much of the content is provided for free by volunteer bloggers, the deal is proving Huffington to be much smarter than we had reason to believe — or AOL to be even dumber than we had reason to believe.

Propagandists Attempt to Transform Both Reagan and Obama Into Gerald Ford

Cold weather is caused by global warming, which is caused by your light bulbs. Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia. Obama is just like his antithesis Ronald Reagan:

There is nothing so preposterous that liberals won't have the arrogance to ask you to believe it.

Peggy Noonan, who wrote speeches for Reagan, attempts to set the record straight:

If progressives have their way, staunchly pro-liberty Ronaldus Magnus and radically anti-liberty B. Hussein Obama will both be remembered as middle of the road moderates, indistinguishable from each other. Coming Apart

Posted by Dave Blount at 1:32 PM

More ominous info on our historic First Adolescent President from NewsFlavor's regrettably anonymous D.C. Insider:

Obama is clueless. Totally clueless. I am not talking a little out of step here. I am talking the man has no idea what is going on around him. This is not coming from me. I am relaying it from some still around him on a regular basis. These people are getting increasingly concerned over just how "out of it", that is the phrase repeated to me, Obama has become. His primary focus is now getting elected in '12. Everything else has been given over to Jarrett and her group. Everything. The president has no interest in policy. None. No interest in working legislation. None. No interest in forging a specific agenda. None. He is being told what he needs to say and that is it. That is the extent of his interest. "Just make it look good." Exact words right there. President Obama is obsessed 24/7 with just "looking good". If something goes well, he gets happy and outgoing. If something makes him look badly, he lashes out and pouts. The man is bouncing off both of those extremes even more now than he used to and it appears to be getting worse and worse. The word "manic" is being used more and more regarding his moods these days.

Why shouldn't The Anointed One focus on "looking good"? It was exclusively his most superficial aspects that enabled the left-wing media establishment to install him in office.

As for running the country, Valerie Jarrett can handle it — or at least we'd better hope so.

Now for the good news. Despite all the derision, Obama's handlers are fretting that the "birther" issue will derail his reelection. If enough states demand a birth certificate before he can appear on the ballot, even some liberals may start to wonder why he won't produce one. During discussion of this issue at a high-level meeting that was supposed to be about Egypt, the Manchurian Moonbat "just sat there with a weird little smile and didn't say anything."

More good news:

As stated before, Geithner is leaving.

If this turns out to be true, it will be a blessing and a curse: a blessing for obvious reasons, and a curse because it will validate the D.C. Insider, who has been telling tales of terror about Obama's potentially catastrophic unfitness for the job.

Code Pinkos Rescued by Big Oil

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:30 AM

With chaos erupting in Egypt, Donna Boyd, a 55-year-old moonbat from Portland, set off on an ill-fated trip with a friend from Seattle, planning to meet up with Code Pinkos in Cairo so they could throw their weight behind the revolution before traveling to Gaza to agitate in support of terrorists. Unsurprisingly, they found themselves in a situation way over their heads. Soon all they wanted was to get back to their Left Coast Starbucks, but escaping Egypt proved difficult. Fortunately…

They found a group of other Westerners and stayed with them. Turned out they were a group of Shell Oil employees who had chartered a flight out of Egypt.
In the end, the two women left Cairo on that flight to Amsterdam.
"We were treated like royalty," Boyd said.
Shell put the two women up in a hotel in the Netherlands, where they plan to stay until Wednesday when they have a flight home.

UK Columnist Melanie Phillips Gets Death Threats for Opposing Homosexual Agenda

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:31 AM

We all know that homosexuality is hazardous to your health, as the disgusting practices it entails spread all manner of horrific diseases, prominently including AIDS. But as it turns out, resisting the push to mainstream homosexual depravity can also be unhealthy — if militant moonbats follow up on their threats:

A prominent conservative UK columnist has said she received death threats after she criticized plans to insert homosexual materials into all subjects in the curriculum in Britain's schools. … Melanie Phillips said that she had been expecting a reaction, "which would amply bear out the truth of what I had written."
"The response, however, exceeded even my expectations. … I have been subjected to an extraordinarily vicious outpouring of hate and incitement to violence" through emails, the internet and in mainstream media.
"If the gay lobby had set about trying to prove my point, it could hardly have done a better job."
Phillips had asserted that homosexualists are now attempting to suppress any public opposition to their political goals. The reaction to this statement, she said, reveals a basic "totalitarian mindset" that is behind the homosexualist agenda.
"Indeed, the total inability of those who subjected me to such abuse to realise that they are, in fact, spewing out the very hatred, intolerance and incitement to violence of which they are accusing others would be hilarious were it not so terrifying."

Hypocrisy and projection of their own worst attributes are among the most salient characteristics of moonbats. Their usual hysteria is going into overdrive as they push the envelope right over the edge with plans to impose an all-homosexual curriculum in British public schools, which will entail pro-perversion brainwashing of children even in math, geography, and language classes. If you don't approve, you are a homophobe and must be silenced in the name of tolerance.

Incarcerated Criminals Collect Tax Credits for Driving Moonbatmobiles

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:34 AM

Big Government has been using tax credits to bribe people to drive dorky-looking death traps that supposedly benefit the sacred man-eating polar bears by running on electricity (generated mostly by burning coal) rather than gasoline. As always when bureauweenies fling money around, the result has been fraud. TaxProf Blog refers to a report from the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration:

Approximately $33 million in credits for plug-in electric and alternative-fueled vehicles credits were erroneously claimed by at least 12,920 taxpayers through July 24, 2010. … That means about 20% of the $163.9 million in credits claimed by taxpayers from January 1, 2010 to July 24, 2010 for plug-in electric and alternative motor vehicle credits were claimed in error. …
According to TIGTA's review, approximately 29 prisoners also received $49,926 in vehicle credits even though they were in prison all of Calendar Year 2009.

Apparently Democrats' most loyal constituency, convicted criminals, have been going online to collect their enviro-cash from behind bars. But what difference does it make if they are hardly in a position to putter around in Chevy Dolts? It's not as if electric cars benefit the environment one iota anyway. The important thing is to make noble gestures indicating how much our liberal rulers care about spotted owls and delta smelts.

AOL Plunges Into the Deep End of Moonbattery With HuffPo

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:12 AM

AOL finally ended its disastrous marriage to moonbatty Time-Warner, but apparently learned nothing from the experience:

Online company AOL Inc. is buying online news hub Huffington Post in a $315 million deal that represents a bold bet on the future of online news. …
Perhaps just as important as picking up a news site that ranks as one of the top 10 current events and global news destinations, AOL will be adding Huffington Post co-founder and media star Arianna Huffington to its management team as part of the deal.
After the acquisition closes later this year, Huffington will be put in charge of AOL's growing array of content…

Technology analyst Rob Enderle is quoted as saying that the $315 million is "really just the hiring fee to get Arianna," and that she could end up running the whole company.

Having an obnoxious screwball like Arianna Huffington in charge of all content should be alarming enough for any remaining AOL stockholders. Huffington Post's success is due to having become the primary online source of hard core leftist propaganda. Now AOL content will inevitably cross the increasingly thin line between establishment liberalism and spittle-spewing moonbattery. Given that conservatives outnumber liberals more than two to one, this strategy amounts to alienating normal people by pandering to a shrinking lunatic fringe. It should work out for AOL about as well as it has for Newsweek and MSNBC.

At the outer edge of the left-wing lunatic fringe.

No wonder the circus calling itself MSNBC fired its top clown Keith Olbermann. Its ratings are low and sinking fast:

According to data from Nielsen Media Research, MSNBC has dropped to third place among cable news networks during coverage of the Egyptian political crisis.
MSNBC's decline against CNN is particularly pronounced in the 25-54 year old demographic. Tuesday night data from Nielsen, as reported by Mediaite, shows CNN with a resounding lead over MSNBC in the key demographic.

The hapless CNN is beating MSNBC in nearly every time slot. Despite the perpetual boycott by liberals terrified of threats to their community-based reality, Fox News clobbers them both easily, in many slots attracting more viewers than CNN and MSNBC put together.

Why Immigration Doesn't Help World Poverty

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:23 PM

We already know that Third World immigration does nothing but harm to the United States, by importing poverty, illiteracy, government dependency, crime, disease, pernicious ideologies, ethnic balkanization, and worst of all, Democrat voters. But does it at least help the Third World? Not in any significant way:

There is only one way to help the poor where they live, and it isn't by looting us until we're poor too. Who helped the USA become wealthy? Nobody, and nobody could have. Our economic freedom and our work ethic created our wealth, not handouts.

Spreading the wealth around Obama style only spreads poverty around. Spreading countermoonbattery around is poverty's only cure.

Obama Turns Over British Nuclear Secrets to Russians

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:50 AM

At least the WikiLeaks revelations have made it crystal clear why no one in his right mind should want an unvetted community organizer with a radical background in charge of the country, no matter how "historic" his skin color. Possibly motivated by his malignant anticolonialist ideology, the Backstabber in Chief has once again demonstrated his hatred of our closest ally (and colonizer of his ancestral homeland Kenya), this time by offering British nuclear secrets to the Russians.

Information about every Trident missile the US supplies to Britain will be given to Russia as part of an arms control deal signed by President Barack Obama next week. …
A series of classified messages sent to Washington by US negotiators show how information on Britain's nuclear capability was crucial to securing Russia's support for the "New START" deal.
Although the treaty was not supposed to have any impact on Britain, the leaked cables show that Russia used the talks to demand more information about the UK's Trident missiles, which are manufactured and maintained in the US.
Washington lobbied London in 2009 for permission to supply Moscow with detailed data about the performance of UK missiles. The UK refused, but the US agreed to hand over the serial numbers of Trident missiles it transfers to Britain. …
While the US and Russia have long permitted inspections of each other's nuclear weapons, Britain has sought to maintain some secrecy to compensate for the relatively small size of its arsenal.

As the eagerness to knife the admittedly unsavory Mubarak in the back made clear and this revelation reinforces, America can no longer be trusted by its allies. The long-term consequences of this catastrophic state of affairs will be devastating.

Toy Gun Hysteria From Hawaii to New Jersey

Posted by Dave Blount at 3:13 PM

British airports aren't the only places that apply zero tolerance insanity to toy guns. The moonbats running Hawaii may ban their sale to minors. From HB 432:

It shall be unlawful to sell, attempt to sell, or offer for sale a toy gun to a minor under eighteen years of age… Any person who violates this section shall be subject to a fine of not more than $2,000, imprisonment of not more than ninety days, or both.

That is, selling a squirt gun to a 17-year-old could get you thrown in prison. If they want to get along in Hopey Changey America, toy store owners are advised to sell children condoms and anal lubricants instead.

Meanwhile, half a world away in Hammonton, NJ, a 7-year-old faces criminal charges for firing a Nerf gun:

Hammonton Police began an investigation into the "suspicious activity" at the Hammonton Early Childhood Education Center Jan. 18 after school officials alerted them to the incident.
The "gun" the child brought to school was a $5 toy gun, similar to a Nerf gun, that shoots soft ping pong type balls, according to the school's superintendent.
Officials also say that there was no evidence of anyone being threatened.

No kidding. However…

Police charged the 7-year-old with possessing an imitation firearm in or on an education institution — a misdemeanor and a minor juvenile offense in New Jersey.

Firearms represent individual empowerment, so oligarchical collectivists hate to see them in private hands. But the Constitution has so far prevented a total ban. GE Gets Exemption From Backdoor Cap & Trade

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:04 PM

You won't find a more naked example of the corruption inherent in crony capitalism than Comrade Obama's symbiotic relationship with GE, which used its control of MSNBC to create a pro-Obama megaphone conspicuous even among the liberal media for the servility of its partisan propaganda. The devotion of GE/MSNBC talking heads and executives has been reminiscent of groveling toadies in fascist and communist regimes.

In return, Obama has pushed green energy boondoggles from which GE stands to make massive fortunes at the cost of affordable energy for the public. He has appointed CEO Jeffrey Immelt head of his economic advisory board. Now this:

Last month, the Obama EPA began enforcing new rules regulating the greenhouse gas emissions from any new or expanded power plants.

Nasty Pelousy managed to ram these new rules through the House as Cap & Trade. But they are so onerous, pointless, and economically destructive that they couldn't get through the Senate, despite Democrat control. So Obama is imposing them through the unaccountable EPA bureaucracy instead.

However, as the unions granted exemptions from ObamaCare can tell you, rules don't apply to Obama's friends. The Washington Examiner quotes subscription only Environment & Energy News:

The Obama administration will spare a stalled power plant project in California from the newest federal limits on greenhouse gases and conventional air pollution, U.S. EPA says in a new court filing that marks a policy shift in the face of industry groups and Republicans accusing the agency of holding up construction of large industrial facilities.
According to a declaration by air chief Gina McCarthy, officials reviewed EPA policies and decided it was appropriate to "grandfather" projects such as the Avenal Power Center, a proposed 600-megawatt power plant in the San Joaquin Valley, so they are exempted from rules such as new air quality standards for smog-forming nitrogen dioxide (NO2).

Why the sudden reasonableness toward Avenal Power Center, despite Obama's promise to make energy prices skyrocket by choking off supply? Probably because it plans to use turbines purchased from GE.

The bigger Big Government gets, the more essential it is to have the right friends if you expect to be allowed to do anything constructive.

Tiny Toy Gun Confiscated at British Airport

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:02 AM

It doesn't matter that Britain is allowing itself to be colonized by Muslims, because citizens are kept safe from the inevitable terror attacks this entails by a zero tolerance policy at airports:

A couple has been left stunned after airport security told them their seven centimetre toy gun was a "firearm".
Ken Lloyd and his wife bought a toy soldier figurine — complete with the tiny rifle — during a visit to the Royal Signals Museum at Garrison, Blandford, UK.
However the pair was shocked when airport security barred them from passing the checkpoint with the tiny toy.
At just seven centimetres long and made of plastic, the device could hardly be mistaken for the real thing.

Likewise, the abusive absurdities of confiscating toys and groping genitalia that pass for security at airports could hardly be mistaken for the real thing.

No need to profile; just confiscate toys.

British Public Schools to Push Homosexual Curriculum

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:56 AM

The totalitarian moonbattery that holds sway in British public schools has taken the final plunge into absurdity with a curriculum that features gay math, geography, and science. No matter what the subject, kids will be taught to revere the depraved and disease-spreading homosexual lifestyle. Examples:

Maths — teaching statistics through census findings about the number of homosexuals in the population, and using gay characters in scenarios for maths problems;
Design and technology— encouraging pupils to make symbols linked to the gay rights movement;
Science — studying animal species where the male takes a leading role in raising young, such as emperor penguins and sea horses, and staging class discussions on different family structures, including same-sex parents;
Geography — examining the transformation of San Francisco's Castro district in the 1960s from a working-class Irish area to the world's first "gay neighbourhood", and considering why homosexuals move from the countryside to cities;
Languages — using gay characters in role play scenarios, and teaching "LGBT vocabulary".

At least that last one should clue kids in as to what "mainstream" media figures like Anderson Cooper mean when they smirkingly denounce patriots as "teabaggers."

As for tikes too young to comprehend these lessons,

the plans will suggest using images of same sex couples and also promoting books such as "And Tango Makes Three", which is about two male penguins raising a young chick, inspired by actual events at New York's Central Park Zoo.

It goes without saying that no one who isn't profoundly sick would want to promote homosexual perversion to children. But in the final ghastly stages of cultural suicide by liberalism, profoundly sick is the new normal.

Gitmo Terrorist Dies of Fun

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:55 AM

A put-upon foreign terrorist vacationing at Club Gitmo has died — from overdoing it on an elliptical trainer:

A 48-year-old Afghan prisoner at Guantanamo Bay collapsed and died, apparently from natural causes, after exercising inside the jail, the U.S. military said Thursday.
Awal Gul fell in the shower Tuesday night after working out on an elliptical machine in Camp 6, a communal section of the Guantanamo reserved for well-behaved prisoners, said military spokesman Army Col. Scott Malcom. The prisoner was taken to the base hospital, where he later died.

Cause of death according to the autopsy was heart failure or pulmonary embolism. At least he died happy, taking advantage of fancy exercise equipment and the leisure to play around on it while others are working to generate taxes to pay for it.

Speaking of finances, for about the same price as a nice elliptical trainer you could purchase an M60 and enough ammo to allow Comrade Obama to close Gitmo as promised. But times being as they are, we'll have to wait for suicide and natural causes to claim those who aren't just set free.

A wiser use of funds.

Jimmy Carter Sued Over Pro-Terrorist Lies

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:55 AM

There may be a price to be paid by the execrable Jimmy Carter for the pro-terrorist lies so often spouted by the Nobel laureate:

More than four years after its publication, five disgruntled readers have filed a class-action lawsuit against President Jimmy Carter and his publisher, Simon & Schuster, alleging that his 2006 book "Palestine Peace Not Apartheid" contained "numerous false and knowingly misleading statements intended to promote the author's agenda of anti-Israel propaganda and to deceive the reading public instead of presenting accurate information as advertised."
The five plaintiffs named in the lawsuit are seeking at least $5 million in compensation. The hard cover edition cost $27.
The suit accuses Carter and his publisher of violating New York consumer protection laws because they engaged in "deceptive acts in the course of conducting business" and alleges that they sought enrichment by promoting the book "as a work of non-fiction."

In fairness to Simon & Schuster, anyone who takes a book by Jimmy Carter for non-fiction might just as well sue their own mothers for smoking too much dope during pregnancy.

In a press release, one of the attorneys, Nitsana Darshan-Leitner stated: "The lawsuit will expose all the falsehoods and misrepresentations in Carter's book and prove that his hatred of Israel has led him to commit this fraud on the public. He is entitled to his opinions but deceptions and lies have no place in works of history."

If the suit is successful, all they have to do is replace "history" with "journalism" and they can use it against the liberal news media.

My eyes glazed over as terror-promoting imam Anjem Choudary of London jabbered breathlessly on and on on Hannity last night. But at last the Great American had had his fill:

"You're one sick miserable evil S.O.B but thank you for coming on anyway."

Well put.

Anjem Choudary is best known for praising the Muslim atrocities of 9/11/01 and 7/7/05; calling for the imposition of sharia law in Britain and the assassination of the Pope; and giving his stamp of approval to murder and rape by Muslims.

But he's also made a positive contribution to public discourse. For example, he has openly spelled out the Muslim strategy of using demographics to conquer Britain. Having been warned, if the British don't prevent it from happening, they will have only their own feckless moonbattery to blame for their annihilation.

Choudary also helpfully laid to rest belief in a chimerical entity called the "moderate Muslim" with this remark:

You cannot be a non-practicing vegetarian. Therefore, similarly, if you're a Muslim, you submit to the Sharia.

By extension, if you don't support killing any infidels who won't submit to dhimmitude, you aren't a Muslim. Only by recognizing that this attitude is a key component of Islamic ideology can the world defend itself.

EPA's Lisa Jackson Backing Away From Global Warming Hoax?

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:53 PM

If you are looking for the most extreme envirofascists on our supposedly endangered planet, the best place to start would be the Environmental Protection Agency, which Comrade Obama is counting on to impose authoritarian restrictions on the economy so pointlessly malignant that Harry Reid couldn't get them through the Dem-controlled senate. Yet even at the EPA, the apparatchiks appear to be giving up on the disintegrating global warming hoax:

Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson has again evaded answering a question about whether she agrees with one of the world's most prominent climate scientists that there has been no statistically significant global warming since 1995.
On Capitol Hill [yesterday], asked Jackson, "Do you agree with Phil Jones of East Anglia University that there has been no statistically significant global warming since 1995?"

In response Jackson quacked:

"I agree with the scientists who have reviewed and re-reviewed the e-mails and data and made a determination — several well-respected bodies, including the national academies, including independent groups — [and] put together that the information that came to be known as Climate Gate has not changed the fact that man-made emissions are changing and degrading our atmosphere, piling up carbon in our atmosphere, and if left unaddressed leaves us — endangers public health and welfare — and puts us, once again, behind the ball in trying to deal with, in trying to move into the clean energy economy."

The preposterous notion that cars and light bulbs make it be too hot out is notably absent from her blather. Here's what she quacked when asked her the same question a year ago:

"I believe all the new information we have doesn't lead to any different conclusion than what we reached in the Endangerment Finding. And that is that climate is changing and that mankind is responsible in part for that change, and that we need to move aggressively."

When even the top commie at the EPA quietly backs away from anthropogenic global warming, it's time for moonbats to market a new brand of snake oil.

Jackson: "Quack quack quack."

Pigford Pigout Is Illegal

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:09 AM

When Comrade Obama promised to "spread the wealth around," he didn't mean indiscriminately. The idea is to take it from those who create it, and spread it among the groups that support him most loyally, namely unions and blacks. He has to spread fast, before the country goes bankrupt. An example of how he does it is the Pigford Pigout, which as it turns out is illegal:

When Congress was stampeded to pass unprecedented legislation in 1998 to facilitate the Pigford v. Glickman suit against the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), some wise but unknown person included a limiting provision in that bill to minimize participation by phony claimants.
But, when the Clinton Administration agreed to a settlement of the case in 1999, that provision was carefully evaded in the consent decree, opening the door to massive fraud. Judge Paul Friedman, a Clinton appointee, quickly approved the deal, resulting in payment of more than $1 billion to nearly 16,000 black claimants, virtually none of whom met that statutory requirement.
Now the Obama regime is on the brink of settling a second Pigford suit for another $1.25 billion, and the proposed settlement again subverts and ignores the law to encourage and reward massive fraud — this time by as many as 80,000 prospective claimants.

The idea is to pass out free money to blacks pretending that the liberal bureauweenies running the USDA are racists who discriminated against them between 1981 and 1996. A complaint is supposed to have been filed with the Department of Agriculture before July 1, 1997. This requirement has been illegally thrown out the window, allowing anyone who shows up with the right skin color to cash in. There are records for less than 1,000 civil rights complaints involving the relevant programs during the period in question, yet legions of claimants have stepped forward, costing taxpayers a massive fortune.

Next Pigford will be expanded to Hispanics and women. Potentially millions will step up to receive their payoff for pretending to have been discriminated against by the USDA. Anyone who objects is a racist and a sexist.

Liberalese for this form of blatant mass theft is social justice. It's one way Democrats buy votes with your money.

Step right up for your social justice.

Too Much Jesus

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:17 AM

Christianity is not quite illegal yet, not even in California public schools:

Los Angeles Unified School District officials announced Tuesday that they will no longer prohibit a 5th-grade student from performing to a Christian song at a Feb. 4 elementary school talent show. Alliance Defense Fund attorneys had filed a request for a temporary restraining order earlier in the day against the district, following their filing of a lawsuit against district officials on Friday.
The principal of Superior Street Elementary School had told the student's mother that the song "We Shine" was "offensive," allegedly violated the so-called "separation of church and state," and suggested that her child pick a song that "does not say 'Jesus' so many times."

Offensive can be defined as "targeted for repression by liberals." When an educrat like SSES Principal Jerilyn Schubert blathers piously about the "separation of church and state," she is probably attempting to refer to the First Amendment — which ironically upholds the very freedom of religion she was trying to squash.

Fortunately, the mother didn't take it lying down:

The concerned parent replied to Schubert by explaining that the song represents her child — who personally selected the song and practiced for months — and not the school, and that there were no restrictions on what students could perform in the show. Schubert then asserted that other students performing songs with profane and vulgar lyrics were also told to select different songs, in essence equating religious lyrics with profanity and vulgarity.

In the end the educrats backed down, muttering as they slunk back to their holes that they would let it go this time because talent show attendance isn't mandatory.

Finally a kid has learned something in a public school. When they push you, push back. It works.

WikiLeaks Nominated for Nobel Prize

How to top granting the prize to slimy terrorist Yasser Arafat, treasonous clown Jimmy Carter, communist dictator Mikhail Gorbachev, greedy scam artist Al Gore, and Affirmative Action post turtle Barack Hussein Obama? Here's an idea:

A Norwegian lawmaker has nominated WikiLeaks for the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize, saying Wednesday that its disclosures of classified documents promote world peace by holding governments accountable for their actions. …
Snorre Valen, a 26-year-old legislator from Norway's Socialist Left Party, told The Associated Press he handed in his nomination in person on Tuesday, the last day to put forth candidates.

Also nominated is Bradley Manning, the poster twink for repealing Don't Ask Don't Tell, who in a snit over that policy and in a funk over a homosexual relationship committed treason by releasing secret documents to WikiLeaks.

Detroit's City Council Still Raking It In

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:07 AM

Even with Detroit in ruins, and nature reclaiming the abandoned wasteland that was once a great city, the Dems who destroyed it continue to make out like the bandits they are:

Detroit's City Council is one of the most expensive in the nation, according to a survey released Wednesday of the nation's largest cities.
Detroit spends about $13 million for its nine-member council and staffers. That's less than other cities such as Los Angeles [which is run by a Reconquistador and has been going broke], but it represents 1 percent of Detroit's total general fund budget — the highest percentage of all 15 cities studied by the Philadelphia-based Pew Charitable Trusts. In comparison, New York's council represents just 0.1 percent of its city spending. …
Detroit also ranks near the top when spending is measured on a per-capita basis. The panel costs Detroit taxpayers $14.53 per resident — higher than all other cities except Washington, D.C., which costs $32.41 per resident but performs state and county functions because of its special status…
Phoenix, which has a part-time council, is the cheapest at $2.10 per resident.

Cheaper and less intrusive government is why Phoenix is now the fifth largest US city, as Detroit once was. Now Detroit is 11th and falling like a cinderblock from an overpass.

On the positive side, at least former mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and City Council member Monica Conyers (wife of former Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee John Conyers) are in jail where they belong. Two down, the rest of the moonbat kleptocrats running America's most liberal city to go.

Bill Would Make Public Works Employees More Equal Than Other Animals

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:12 AM

In Wayne, New Jersey, snow-bound residents who have finally dug themselves out from under all the global warming have been getting annoyed at public works employees who plow them back in, occasionally resulting in altercations. These days not even the smallest crisis is wasted as an opportunity to increase government power:

Assemblyman Scott Rumana is sponsoring a bill to make any attack against a public works employee an aggravated assault. If the bill passes, the penalties would be up to 3-to-5 years in prison and $15,000 in fines.

Why is attacking a public works employee worse than attacking anyone else? Because they work for the government. Similarly, congresscritter Robert Brady (D-PA), exploited the Tucson shootings to call for a ban on "language or symbols that could be perceived as threatening or inciting violence against a Member of Congress or federal official" — i.e., a ban on saying or printing anything they deem as hostile.

A new class structure is emerging: those who work for the government on top, those who don't on the bottom. If we were all equal, who would finance the public sector's lavish pensions?

Anderson Cooper Attacked by Egyptian Mob

CNN producer Steve Brusk Tweeted, "Anderson said he was punched 10 times in the head as pro-Mubarak mob surrounded him and his crew trying to cover demonstration."

Ecofascist Teacher Makes Example of Six-Year-Old

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:35 AM

To instill eco-obedience, our moonbat rulers have to start young, before we're capable of realizing that their rules are arbitrary and meaningless, serving only as an excuse to exercise coercion for the sake of coercion. For example:

A couple in Laval, Que. has sparked a fierce debate over how far schools should go to teach children about environmental responsibility after their six-year-old son was shut out of a kindergarten draw to win a stuffed animal because he had an environmentally unfriendly sandwich bag in his lunchbox.
Marc-André Lanciault said he hadn't heard of the school's draw or any environmental policy until his wife, Isabel Théorêt, was making their son Félix a sandwich and he begged them not to put it in a plastic bag.
"He said, 'No mommy, you can't do that. Not a Ziploc,'" Mr. Lanciault said.
Through tears, the boy told his parents that the school had held a draw to win a stuffed teddy bear and only children who didn't have any plastic sandwich bags could enter. The family normally uses Tupperware, but it was all in the dishwasher, and so they had packed their son's ham sandwich in a plastic bag.
When Mr. Lanciault questioned his son's teacher, she confirmed the school had staged the draw at a lunchtime daycare and that any student with a plastic sandwich bag was excluded. "You know Mr. Lanciault, it's not very good for the environment," the teacher told him.

It doesn't matter whether reusable containers that have to be washed are any better for the environment than plastic bags, which is under debate. The point is to single out those whose parents don't conform to the latest moonbat fad as eco-sinners.

Mr. Lanciault nearly grasps the essence of enviromoonbattery:

"At the end of the day my son doesn't know why he shouldn't use a Ziploc bag. It's not only the bag, it's the whole idea that we're being brainwashed from everywhere. They told us Ziploc bags are bad, so we've stopped thinking about it and just started applying the rule."

There is no reason not to use plastic bags, other than the high priests of political correctness having proclaimed them to be sinful. The point is the same as for religious dietary restrictions: to obey for the sake of obeying in a show of obeisance. Does even a New York Times reader really think that forbidding affordable light bulbs will improve the weather, or that sentencing millions of Third World children to death by malaria is less harmful than essentially harmless DDT?

The targets of environmental proscriptions are chosen more or less randomly. Why not declare that the color orange makes ice caps melt? Or that the letter R threatens the habitat of the delta smelt? It would make as much sense as singling out a small child for ostracization over a sandwich bag.

Good thing for Félix he didn't bring his lunch in one of these.

Al Gore Screeches That Global Warming Is Causing All the Snow and Cold

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:14 AM

It's too late to back out now. Liberal totalitarians have to ride the farcical climate change hoax all the way to the end of the line, which will be reached when everyone with an IQ over 60 guffaws at the very mention of the term global warming. Our cooling climate has reduced Al Gore, the P.T. Barnum of climate catastrophe, to hawking the risible lie that all the snow and cold are caused by global warming:

Last week on his show Bill O'Reilly asked, "Why has southern New York turned into the tundra?" and then said he had a call into me. I appreciate the question.
As it turns out, the scientific community has been addressing this particular question for some time now and they say that increased heavy snowfalls are completely consistent with what they have been predicting as a consequence of man-made global warming

The Goracle goes on to quack, essentially, that all weather is caused by global warming. That would explain why mild, dry winters recently caused Gore's fellow Demorrhoid's to call for urgent authoritarian action in the name of global warming:

Like the late Senator Kleagle and colleagues, the liberal media was recently screaming that global warming would soon make snow disappear.

Already no one who has been paying attention can take this swindle seriously without making a deliberately irrational leap of faith. When awareness of the absurdity inevitably filters past the moonbat-controlled media, Gore will have to soundproof one of his mansions to keep from being deafened by the derisive laughter.

Already too wise to buy global warming.

Comrade Obama's Egyptian Involvement Goes Way Back

Posted by Dave Blount at 2:31 PM

New evidence has come to light in support of RedState's assertion that the American Left had a role in setting off the potentially disastrous chaos in Egypt. It gives the lie to the impression Obama has created that he is once again vacillating uselessly on the sidelines as a world that cannot be explained by his sophomoric ideology spins out of control. Actually, he has been very much engaged, going back farther than anyone would have imagined.

This photo was taken at the pyramids. See if you can spot a familiar pair of ears:

Planned Parenthood Offers to Facilitate Child Prostitution

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:07 PM

James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles rocked Obama's close friends at ACORN by posing as a pimp and prostitute and going undercover to ascertain that ACORNistas across the country were more than happy to facilitate child prostitution. Ever wonder if the comparably reprehensible pillar of the left-wing establishment Planned Parenthood would take the same attitude? Wonder no longer:

This video reveals a top-level Planned Parenthood worker, the manager of Planned Parenthood of Central New Jersey's second largest clinic, making a secret deal with a pimp. Watch and listen as the Planned Parenthood manager, Amy Woodruff, advises the pimp how to make the trafficking of underage girls look "as legit as possible" (her words). Watch and listen as the manager advises the pimp how to ensure that his 14-year old victims of trafficking can still make money for him after secret abortions by performing sex acts "waist up" (her idea). Watch as she advises the pimp to instruct his girls to lie on the paper work about their ages, and identify themselves as "students" to get cheaper contraception and avoid mandatory reporting laws.

If you think this scene doesn't typify Planned Parenthood, read more at Big Journalism.

Despite the abortion industry being highly remunerative, Planned Parenthood receives hundreds of $millions per year in funds stolen from American taxpayers, much of which mysteriously disappears. You would almost get the impression that folks who kill babies for a living can't be trusted with mountains of other people's money.

As both Planned Parenthood and ACORN make undeniably obvious, the Left is a moral cesspool. If we keep allowing it to steer our country's course, all of us are going to end up in hell.

British Foreign Office Provided Legal Advice to Free Lockerbie Bomber

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:59 AM

Surprise surprise. Britain's Islamophiliac government provided Libya with legal advice to free Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset al-Megrahi, who murdered nearly 200 Americans:

A Foreign Office minister sent Libyan officials detailed legal advice on how to use Abdelbaset al-Megrahi's cancer diagnosis to ensure he was released from a Scottish prison on compassionate grounds.
The Duke of York is also said to have played a behind-the-scenes role in encouraging the terrorist's release.
The Libyans closely followed the advice which led to the controversial release of Megrahi — who was convicted of the murder of 270 passengers on Pan Am Flight 103 — within months of the Foreign Office's secret intervention.
The disclosure seriously undermines British Government claims that is was not complicit in the release of al-Megrahi, and that the decision to free the convicted terrorist was taken by the Scottish Executive alone.

Don't blame the British people for this. Their government is as hostile to them as it is to us — as is our own government; Mullah Obama green-lighted setting Megrahi free to his hero's welcome in Libya.

Hopefully this at least makes it clear why captured Islamic terrorists cannot be imprisoned. Once they have stopped providing useful information on other terrorists, they must be put to death immediately, before their allies — our liberal rulers — can set them free.

Our rulers don't seem to see this as a problem.

London to Edinburgh Faster by Stagecoach Than Electric Car

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:06 AM

Our progressive rulers have been marching us into a future that is no improvement on the past:

In its obsessive desire to promote the virtues of electric cars, the BBC proudly showed us last week how its reporter Brian Milligan was able to drive an electric Mini from London to Edinburgh in a mere four days — with nine stops of up to 10 hours to recharge the batteries (with electricity from fossil fuels).
What the BBC omitted to tell us was that in the 1830s, a stagecoach was able to make the same journey in half the time, with two days and nights of continuous driving. This did require 50 stops to change horses, but each of these took only two minutes, giving a total stopping time of just over an hour and a half.
Considering that horse power was carbon-free, emitting only organic fertiliser along the way, isn't it time the eco-conscious BBC became more technologically savvy?

Not to mention, horses function much more effectively in cold weather than electric cars — which is becoming ever more important now that we know global warming makes it be cold.

Stagecoaches also had more room for passengers.

Libs Find an Islamophobic Patriot Terrorist — Almost

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:02 AM

Congratulations, media liberals — your long wait is over! A veteran stands accused of trying to use fireworks to blow up a mosque in the Muslim colony Dearbornistan. Now we all see what menaces Islamophobic patriots can be.

But wait — Roger Stockham sounds a lot like a Muslim convert moonbat. He served prison time for threatening to kill George W. Bush; once declared a "jihad" against the VA office in White River, Vermont; says his Muslim name is Hem Ahadin; and was suspended from a VFW post in Imperial Beach, California for smoking marijuana.

A psychiatric evaluation found that Stockham is nutty as a Snickers bar. But at least he's Caucasian; that's all the media needed to portray Jared Loughner as a Sarah Palin fan.

Another sociopathic kook who will be exploited by libs.

NYC Mayor Invades Arizona

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:59 AM

New York's Mayor-for-Life Michael Bloomberg's lust for totalitarian control over other people's lives knows no bounds, so you could hardly expect him to limit himself to attacking the Second Amendment liberties of those unfortunate enough to live under his jurisdiction. Now that all problems have been resolved in NYC, he has been conducting sting operations in Arizona:

Weeks after the shooting in Tucson, sellers at an Arizona gun show allowed undercover investigators hired by New York City to buy semiautomatic pistols even after they said they probably couldn't pass a background check, Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Monday. …
Bloomberg has authorized similar sting operations around the country as part of a push for tougher federal laws to help keep guns off the streets of New York.
But in the sensitive aftermath of the shooting Jan. 8 that killed six people and critically wounded Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, the mayor was questioned about the time and place of his hidden-camera investigation, a $100,000 operation conducted almost clear across the country.

Bloomberg's big bust was a just that — a bust.

Jim Cavanaugh, a retired agent for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, where he was in charge of the Nashville division, said he didn't believe the sales described by the mayor were, in fact, illegal.
"It's not a prosecutable offense" because the purchasers were not truly felons, minors or drug abusers and because they didn't tell the sellers definitively that they were, Cavanaugh said. As for Bloomberg, he said, "ATF has asked him not to do it and to please coordinate with ATF if he thinks a violation is occurring."

Bloomie has been warned before about his ham-fisted overreach.

In 2007, the U.S. Justice Department warned in a letter to City Hall that such civilian operations risk "legal liabilities" and can "unintentionally interrupt or jeopardize ongoing criminal investigations."

But he just couldn't resist exploiting the Jared Loughner killing spree.

The mayor conceded that most illegal guns in New York City are coming from states along the East Coast, but said the rampage in Tucson would bring national attention to the investigation.

Loughner bought his gun at a sporting goods store after passing a federal background check, making his case irrelevant to Bloomberg's gun show sting operation, except when it comes to wringing every last drop of hysteria from the tragedy.

I moved from New York to Arizona specifically to escape authoritarian liberalism. Looks like I didn't go far enough.

Meanwhile New York is sure to be in for more global warming before winter is over. Hopefully the streets will get plowed next time.

Moonbat Tech: Portland Turns to the Tricycle

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:03 AM

Congratulations to the moonbats running Portland for their ingenious three-wheeled solution to the imaginary plight of the polar bear:

Officials in Portland are having paper and office supplies delivered on giant tricycles to cut out harmful tailpipe emissions, the city said on Thursday.
Under a deal signed last week with Office Depot, the company is subcontracting with a local firm called B-Line that has riders pedal giant tricycles mounted with cargo containers.
It's in those cargo containers that B-Line riders are carrying the Office Depot supplies, to nine city offices in the traffic-congested downtown area.
"It's important for the city of Portland to set an example and be a leader to other businesses in the Portland area and use sustainable business practices whenever possible," Mayor Sam Adams said in a statement.

If America survives to see the end of the Obamination Administration, this ought to open up a job for which the Moonbat Messiah will actually be qualified.
