Discussing the Demise of ObamaCare

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:35 PM

The legal system hasn't yet been completely corrupted by liberal activists. Consequently, the ObamaCare abomination is crashing like a wave against the rock our country was founded on — the Constitution. This has given rise to piteous moans among left-wing totalitarians, and more conversations at the water cooler:

Federal Judge Rules ObamaCare Null and Void

Posted by Dave Blount at 2:21 PM

We all knew that ObamaCare is an outrageously unconstitutional federal power grab, but given what FDR got away with, there's no guessing how judges will rule. So far, so good:

The full text of the decision from Federal Judge Roger Vinson is not available yet, but according to reporters who've seen the decision, he's ruled the entire Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act unconstitutional. … The judge ruled the individual mandate that requires all Americans to purchase health insurance invalid and, according to the decision, "because the individual mandate is unconstitutional and not severable, the entire Act must be declared void."

Pray for the health of the five grownups on the Supreme Court. This will reach them soon.

Global Warming Deniers Double in Britain

Posted by Dave Blount at 1:22 PM

Not even in moonbattery-addled Britain is the establishment media lie that cold weather is caused by global warming gaining any traction in all the ice and snow:

The number of climate change sceptics has almost doubled in four years, official research showed yesterday.
A quarter of Britons are unconvinced that the world is warming following successive freezing winters and a series of scandals over the credibility of climate science.
The figures suggest that a growing proportion of the public do not share the belief of all three major political parties and Whitehall — that climate change is a major and urgent challenge requiring radical and expensive policies. …
There were also setbacks for climate change advocates over flaws in UN reports on global warming and evidence that temperatures across the world have been falling.

Time for oligarchical collectivists to find a new lie to wrap totalitarianism in. Global warming is dead of hypothermia. The longer our rulers in the governmedia keep trying to push this farce down our throats, the less credibility they will have with anyone who isn't a glassy-eyed moonbat.

More Homosexual Indoctrination in Public Schools

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:50 AM

Due to the size of its market, California can largely dictate the contents of public school textbooks to the rest of the country. SB 48 gives an idea of the direction this is taking your child's education:

A bill recently introduced in the California senate seeks to mandate that all public schools in California teach history and social studies with a deliberate slant toward lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons (LGBT).
The bill, SB 48, was introduced in the new legislative session by longtime LGBT activist Sen. Mark Leno (D-San Francisco), who has also authored a number of bills in past sessions designed to attack traditional marriage. Among other things, SB 48 states, "Instruction in social sciences shall include the early history of California and a study of the role and contributions of … lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Americans, and members of other ethnic and cultural groups, to the economic, political, and social development of California and the United States of America, with particular emphasis on portraying the role of these groups in contemporary society."

California history is normally taught in the fourth grade, at which time our moonbat rulers deem children ready to be proselytized about the political righteousness of sexual depravity.

The excuse for this sickening outrage is that it will supposedly reduce the bullying of effeminate boys if all the other boys can be brainwashed into thinking effeminacy is a positive quality in males. Like most pretexts for imposing the liberal agenda, it doesn't pass the laugh test.

As for the fairness in which libs traditionally take such ostentatious pride, California Family Council notes,

In practical terms, SB 48 is not at all "fair" — not when it would promote one viewpoint, while denying and silencing another. Homosexuals would be presented as a positive, accepted norm without the mention of any negative health or moral concerns shared by medical experts, religious leaders, and parents. Schools have long been accused of re-writing history in order to support current culture. In this circumstance history would flagrantly be rewritten with propaganda favoring pro-homosexual messages in the schools. To add GLBT issues to the history of California and the United States further dilutes objective truth in public schools and misinforms children about the lifestyle.

Others will say that moonbat social engineers aren't pushing hard enough:

Yes, school children in the fourth grade desperately need to learn about the "contributions" of people who sodomize one another. While we're at it, shouldn't we include the "contributions" of adulterers, people who frequent prostitutes, who have relations with animals, who urinate on one another for sexual pleasure, or who revel in coprophilia? Why should these "minority groups" be left out from being recognized for their vital historical contributions? Why should our fourth grade children be deprived of the knowledge of the historical contributions of people with "special" sexual proclivities?

Have patience, moonbats. The strategy of Fabian socialists is to impose the agenda one step at a time.

Moonbat Tech: The Miswak

Entire Middle East Might Go Islamofascist

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:59 AM

It isn't just Egypt — with its control of the critical Suez canal — that we stand to lose while Obama parties and Shrillary vacillates incoherently. The entire Middle East may be ready to go up in flames.

In addition to Egypt, the pot is boiling over in Tunisia, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and Sudan.

With the Moonbat Messiah at the helm, America is the weak horse Osama bin Laden warned us Arabs wouldn't back. Any regime suspected of not being sufficiently hostile to the USA stands a good chance of being replaced by Muslim Brotherhood terrorists in the coming weeks.

Even this unfolding catastrophe has a silver lining: at least the government will let us drill our own oil, once the Muslim supply has been shut off. If it doesn't, the Obama Misadministration will walk its last mile in Hosni Mubarak's shoes.

But wait — Comrade Obama is showing some leadership after all. Look what he's just dispatched to the Middle East:

Missoula Children's Theater Calls for Beheading of Sarah Palin

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:12 AM

It looks like the "civility" piously demanded by elitist moonbats in the wake of the Tucson Massacre has made it to Montana, where a citizen reacts to what he saw onstage at the Missoula Children's Theater:

Now, I realize you play to a mostly liberal audience in Missoula and so, I am sure, felt comfortable in your calling for the beheading of Sarah Palin. I am painfully aware that most in the audience tittered with laughter and clapped because "no one would miss her" but there were some in your audience who took great offense to this "uncivil tone" about another human being.
We are in the midst of a crisis that took place in Tucson where many started pointing fingers at that horrible right wing with all their hatred and targeting and standing for the second amendment and on and on and on. So, here we are in a lovely play with beautiful voices serenading us and we have to hear that it is okay to call for the killing of Sarah Palin because we don't like her and no one would miss her. Unbelievable.

As the Wall Street Journal points out, Missoula is hardly the only place the infantile yet condescending artsy-fartsy community indulges in inappropriate attacks on its perceived enemies in the culture war. The lectures we've been receiving from moonbats about civility in political discourse are like having to listen to a sty full of pigs grunt through dripping mouthfuls of slop about the need for better table manners.

Radical Imam Caught Sneaking in From Mexico

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:14 AM

Whoever lost that book extolling suicide bombers in the southern Arizona desert has company in this country. Look what else has turned up at the under-defended border:

U.S. border guards got a surprise when they searched a Mexican BMW and found a hardline Muslim cleric - banned from France and Canada - curled up in the boot.
Said Jaziri, who called for the death of a Danish cartoonist that drew pictures of the prophet Mohammed, was being smuggled into California when he was arrested, along with his driver Kenneth Robert Lawler. …
Jaziri had allegedly paid a Tijuana-based smuggling cartel $5,000 to take him across the border near Tecate, saying he wanted to be taken to a 'safe place anywhere in the U.S.'

Now why would an Islamic radical who openly advocates violence want to sneak into the USA? Just to do the jobs millions of unemployed Americans allegedly won't do, no doubt.

Hopefully Jaziri isn't setting off a car bomb with that.

No One at the Wheel

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:28 PM

So what has the supposed President of the United States been up to while the Middle East spirals into chaos, and the lynchpin of our regional strategy going back to the 1970s threatens to become the next Iran? Here's what:

On Saturday, Obama spent the morning watching his daughter play basketball.

How nice that he has so much time for her. Afterwards,

Barack Obama spent Saturday night at a going away party for David Axelrod who is leaving the administration to set up Obama's reelection campaign in Chicago. The party was held at the Dupont Circle condo of former Obama aide Linda Douglass.
Douglass, who is now with the National Journal, played host to a gathering of cabinet secretaries … and prominent reporters including Major Garrett (National Journal), Jake Tapper (ABC), Chuck Todd (NBC) and John Harwood (CNBC/New York Times).
Obama spent nearly two hours at the party.
Greta Van Sustern appears to be the only one in the media to report on Obama's party with her colleagues. Were it not for her posting the pool reports by the National Journal's Rebecca Kaplan at Fox News' GretaWire, the public would not know that Obama spent Saturday night partying with the media while Egypt burns.

It's been at least a week since Obama's last extravagantly expensive vacation; maybe he needs another.

While Obama fiddles around, a key ally burns.

Islamic Book Found in Desert Near Border

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:44 AM

OTMs — many of them from terror-supporting Islamic countries — continue to pour across our deliberately undefended southern border. One of them dropped some reading material:

A book celebrating suicide bombers has been found in the Arizona desert just north of the U.S.- Mexican border, authorities tell Fox News.
The book, "In Memory of Our Martyrs," was spotted Tuesday by a U.S. Border Patrol agent out of the Casa Grande substation who was patrolling a route known for smuggling illegal immigrants and drugs.
Published in Iran, it consists of short biographies of Islamic suicide bombers and other Islamic militants who died carrying out attacks.

AIDS Aid up in a Puff of Whoonga Smoke

Posted by Dave Blount at 3:03 PM

Ever wonder what happens to the $millions upon $millions of our money that is poured down Africa in a futile effort to solve its AIDS problem? Some has been tracked down:

South Africa is in the grip of a dangerous new drugs craze that could threaten the country's battle against Aids.
The street drug called "whoonga" is a cocktail that includes the antiretroviral (ARV) medication prescribed to people with HIV.
Demand for the substance has prompted a wave of thefts of Aids drugs across the country.
Users crush the ARVs and smoke them with a mixture of rat poison, detergent and marijuana to get high.

If only everything purchased with our tax dollars were used so constructively.

[A local named Jomo] and his fellow whoonga addicts, huddled in the grounds of a church in one of Durban's side streets, smoke up to 30 "packets" of the drug every day at a cost of almost £100.
"I just rob people to get the money. I don't have a job, this is all I do," Jomo said, rolling another joint.
"I sell my body to get whoonga," a young woman said with a shrug.
When those sharing the joint refused to share it with her, she produced a crack pipe from her handbag and smoked that instead.

They shouldn't be so stingy toward the prostitute. She may be helping to spread AIDS, thereby increasing the flow of pricey ARVs from the do-gooding West.

We are the whoonga world.

Daily Kos Restores Deleted "Giffords Is Dead to Me" Post

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:51 PM

Remember in the aftermath of the Tucson Massacre, as the moonbats running the "mainstream" media bizarrely screeched that conservatives were to blame for using allegedly violent rhetoric, and the Daily Kos quietly scrubbed a post that had appeared just two days before the shooting by a Kostard who growled that Gabrielle Giffords was "dead" to him for not backing Nasty Pelousy to remain top Dem in the House? The post is back up again — with this guffaw-inducing explanation:

I initially deleted this diary out of sensitivity to the victims of Saturday's Tucson shooting, including my Congresswoman, Gabrielle Giffords, who is now courageously fighting for her life at UMC. I undeleted because this has been twisted and distorted by not only the right wing blogs, but also the mainstream media as an example of a vitriolic statement from the progressives that is somehow the equal of what Sarah Palin, Sharron Angle, Glenn Beck, Limbaugh, Boortz, and other far-right stokers of vitriol, anger, and hatred have said and written. Which I believe can and does influence people, especially the already unstable to carry out acts of violence… perhaps even the exact shooting in Tucson on Saturday.

Even now these creeps cling to the pathetic allegation that those who disagree with them are by some unexplained mechanism responsible for the killing spree of a decidedly non-conservative psychopath. Too bad none of the patriots listed above ever said "Gabrielle Giffords is dead to me." The media would scream itself so hoarse, we wouldn't have to listen to its lies for awhile.

Chicago Artist Could Get 15 Years for Recording His Own Arrest

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:58 AM

Chicago artist Chris Drew got his point across better than he ever intended when he protested government oppression by getting himself arrested for selling silk-screened patches without a permit and filmed the event:

An artist who used a video camera to record being arrested by police is facing up to 15 years in prison.
Chris Drew has been charged with Class 1 felony under the Eavesdropping Act in Chicago, Illinois.
The bemused activist said he did not know anything about the law when he was protesting about restrictions on where artists can sell their work.

Drew expected to be charged with a misdemeanor and released. But it turns out Big Government can be more repressive than he had realized.

Under the Eavesdropping Act, which applies in 12 states, all parties must consent to a recording being made.
Maryland, Illinois and Massachusetts are the only states where it is illegal to record conversations with the police.

What a coincidence: all three of are so totally dominated by Democrats as to be virtually one-party states.

The maximum penalty is three years for a first offense…

But anyone recording a judge, attorney general, state attorney or police officer can be sent to jail for up to 15 years.

Anti-Violence Activist Beats Up Woman

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:03 AM

It's better to practice what liberals preach, because only an imam would be barbaric enough to preach what some of them practice. For example, the "prime mover" of We Stop the Killings can't always be sermonizing about the evils of violence; sometimes he has to let off a little steam by pounding on women in front of babies:

Warren Jackson was charged with a misdemeanor count of domestic battery, said the Cook County State's Attorney's office.
Tinley Park Police were called to the Burlington Coat Factory at about 8:23 p.m. Jan. 21 after another shopper reported walking out of the store and seeing a man hitting a woman inside a car parked in the fire lane in front of the store, according to a police report.
The shopper reported seeing the man remove a toddler from the car and put him back in the front passenger seat of the vehicle before turning around from the driver's seat and punching a woman in the back seat, police said. The shopper told police she ran inside to call for help and when she exited again the car had relocated to a different part of the parking lot where the man continued to attack the woman, police said.

When the cops arrived,

The child was sitting in the front seat of the car without a child's safety seat, and the woman was in the back seat of the car with cuts on her face, police said.

Warren has had trouble with the law before:

Jackson is the subject of a lawsuit filed by Attorney General Lisa Madigan's office Dec. 2 seeking to shut down the Chicago-based organization We Stop the Killings, saying it is operating illegally while soliciting charitable donations.
The lawsuit seeks to stop Jackson and five others associated with the organization's website,, from managing a charitable organization in Illinois. The suit says the group solicited donations and falsely claimed the money would fund efforts to curb youth violence in Chicago.

Corruption, deception, hypocrisy, and bogus sanctimony in the city that gave us the Moonbat Messiah? Please say it isn't so.

Warren Jackson "is richly committed to creating solutions that assist with the issues of violence among today's youth."

More Than Half of Union Workers Exempt From ObamaCare

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:49 AM

Our Community Organizer in Chief will grind the rest of us under the heel of ObamaCare, but not his union friends:

Yesterday, the Deparment of Health and Human Services announced it had granted more than 500 new waivers to Obamacare's requirement that health plans have annual limits of no less than $750,000. This annual limit requirement climbs to $1.25 million next year and then to $2 million.
The reason these exemptions from the law are needed is that Obamacare forces all health insurance consumers to over-insure themselves and pay high premiums as a result. Without the waivers, many companies, non-profits and unions would simply drop their health plans. As of 2014, the waivers will no longer be available…
It is worth noting that there are 166 union benefits funds now exempted from this requirement, which account for about 40 percent of the exempted workers. This means that although there are only 14.6 million unionized employees in the United States, and 860,000 of them are already exempted from this provision of Obamacare.

Unions will destroy America as surely as they destroyed Detroit if Obama has his way. That's why they need to be kept healthy by sparing them from trauma as ObamaCare is used to bankrupt the private health sector.

Looking out for you — so long as you're a union.

Comrade Obama Coming After Guns

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:37 AM

Gun sales have been through the roof ever since America temporarily went off the rails and was duped into electing the Manchurian Moonbat, because our Second Amendment rights being the last line of defense against overreaching government, you had to know that the personification of statism would try to infringe on them. His teleprompter wisely refrained from milking the Tucson shootings at the State of the Union address…

But in the next two weeks, the White House will unveil a new gun-control effort in which it will urge Congress to strengthen current laws, which now allow some mentally unstable people, such as alleged Arizona shooter Jared Loughner, to obtain certain assault weapons, in some cases without even a background check.
Tuesday night after the speech, Obama adviser David Plouffe said to NBC News that the president would not let the moment after the Arizona shootings pass without pushing for some change in the law, to prevent another similar incident.

The only sure way to prevent a maniac from going berserk with a gun would be to make sure no one has any access to them. After that, Big Government will put an end to traffic fatalities by making sure no one has access to a car. We can deal with home invaders with conflict resolution techniques, and get around by government-approved high-speed rail.

Washington State May Stop Allowing Welfare Cards to Be Used at Strip Clubs

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:40 AM

Even the moonbats running the state of Washington can have a good idea once in awhile:

State. Sen. Mike Carrell of Lakewood is sponsoring a bill to prevent the use of Washington's welfare cash cards from being used at strip clubs, tattoo parlors, gun shops and taverns.
Carrell says an investigation by Seattle TV station KING found the benefit cards are being misused.

It's almost as if people spend money less wisely when they didn't work for it.

The station earlier found that about $2 million in welfare cash was withdrawn in one year at casinos. … Now, KING has found the welfare benefits — known as EBT cards — are being cashed at strip clubs and sex shops.

Wouldn't it be nice to think of this as a tiny step toward the authorities figuring out that they have no right to redistribute our money?

Thanks to Obama, Oil Disaster Isn't Over for the Gulf

Posted by Dave Blount at 4:57 PM

The BP oil spill has faded out of the news, but Comrade Obama's war on energy and employment continues:

Policy advisers for the American Petroleum Institute (API) warned that continued delays for deepwater drilling permits in the Gulf of Mexico would negatively impact deepwater Gulf development as well as Gulf region jobs and the nation's energy security.
…API policy advisors cited a Wood Mackenzie study released in December that found long-term Gulf of Mexico deepwater development could be seriously jeopardized if permitting timelines are extended. The study projects nearly one-third of U.S. deepwater production could be rendered uneconomic, which could significantly impact deepwater production, resulting in less energy production, less investment and less revenue to government.

Not to mention higher unemployment, higher gas prices, and more government debt.

"The potential harm is alarming," said Kyle Isakower, API's Vice President of Economic and Regulatory Policy. "We are talking about a transformation of the future relevance of deepwater Gulf development to U.S. domestic energy production — and a major threat to Gulf region jobs and to the nation's energy security. Based on the development impacts outlined by Wood Mackenzie, we believe as many as 125,000 jobs could be lost in 2015."
A slowdown in Gulf permitting has already cost jobs and will reduce Gulf oil and natural gas production and government revenue this year. Unless policymakers reverse course, 2011 could be the first year without a lease sale in the Gulf of Mexico since 1964.

Why should Big Government allow Americans to drill their own oil? The communist Chinese are still willing to lend us money to buy it from Muslims — for now.

"In light of the uproar surrounding the explicit content of MTV's new teen drama, Skins, and the show's resultant loss of sponsors, PETA is offering the network a chance to get some positive media attention as well as save animals' skins," the org said in a statement.

Captain Politically Incorrect Country That Shall Remain Unnamed

As promised by the moonbat chattering class, now that W has been replaced by a conspicuously unpatriotic citizen of the world type president, no one is envious of America anymore, and everybody loves us — but not so much that a Captain America movie can be shown in foreign markets with a title like Captain America:

How do you sell a movie called "Captain America" to an overseas market? In South Korea, Russia and the Ukraine, apparently, the answer is you don't even try.
The film "Captain America: The First Avenger" will have its title truncated to, simply, "The First Avenger" in those three overseas markets, according to Marvel Studios insiders. The choice was made by Marvel, Paramount Pictures' international team and distributors in those three countries based on market research results.

South Korea would have been enslaved by communist invaders long ago if America didn't invest blood and treasure in its defense. South Koreans wouldn't have to worry about being offended by movies with "America" in the title; they'd be to busy boiling grass and bark for soup like their neighbors in the socialist utopia to the north.

Fortunately, the vast majority of movies seeping out of Hollywood cast America in the most negative light possible, and therefore don't require any such changes for overseas distribution.

Next they'll take away the M1911 and put the UN logo on his shield.

Our neighbors to the south are already employing a similar concept, although with less advanced technology:

Drug smugglers trying to get marijuana across the Arizona-Mexico border apparently are trying a new approach — a catapult.
National Guard troops operating a remote video surveillance system at the Naco Border Patrol Station say they observed several people preparing a catapult and launching packages over the International Border fence last Friday evening. …
The 3-yard tall catapult was found about 20 yards from the U.S. border on a flatbed towed by a sports utility vehicle, according to a Mexican army officer with the 45th military zone in the border state of Sonora.
The catapult was capable of launching 4.4 pounds of marijuana at a time, the officer said Wednesday, speaking on condition of anonymity for security reasons.

The security reasons consist of him being killed by drug dealers if he draws their attention — a danger that will soon be spreading across the border with the rest of Mexico's problems.

As usual,

The smugglers left the area before they could be captured.

Apparently carrying drugs across the unsecured border is too much trouble, even in cool weather. Maybe Comrade Obama will put in a high-speed rail for them.

Say, if you sat an undocumented Democrat in one these, you could…

Profiles in Countermoonbattery: The M1911

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:32 AM

The tragedy in Tucson was predictably exploited to stoke anti-gun hysteria — but that isn't stopping patriots from acknowledging the honorable role firearms have played in our grand history. This is the 100-year anniversary of the great M1911 — the iconic sidearm that was standard issue in the US military from 1911 to 1985 and continues to be wildly popular to this day. Utah, home to its inventor John Browning, is rightfully proud.

A bill to make the M1911 the official gun of Utah blasted its way through a committee by a 9-2 vote. Moonbats are not pleased:

Gun Violence Prevention Center board member Steve Gunn told The Associated Press honoring the M1911 is wrong because the people who opened fire in most recent U.S. mass shootings used semiautomatic pistols. That includes the Jan. 8 Arizona shooting in which six people were killed and 13 — including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords — were wounded with a Glock pistol.
"It's an embarrassment to the state to have as a symbol that was used only a few weeks ago to kill innocent people," Gunn said.

This is the equivalent of screeching that the Ford Mustang shouldn't be used as a symbol because of a traffic accident involving a Volkswagen. Yes, the moonbat's name really is Gunn.

State Republican Rep. Carl Wimmer has been planning the bill for a year, and isn't about to back down. As he points out:

"There is nothing about the actions of a madman to change the fact that firearms have been used throughout our history to defend American values and traditions."

That will hardly endear them to Democrats. To make matters worse, the M1911 symbolizes America at its mightiest. The gun was designed to replace .38 service revolvers that didn't have sufficient stopping power against Muslim maniacs we were fighting in the Philippines. For decades, while Europeans plinked away with smaller caliber pistols, Yanks let loose with the awesome roar of the .45, the firearm equivalent of the muscular American cars that ruled the roads.

Nowadays we squeeze into government-mandated eco-friendly beer cans on wheels, and shoot multiple times with 9mm Glocks and Berettas to make sure some actual damage is done. But like the Single Action Army that tamed the Wild West, the M1911 will never be forgotten.

Symbol of American might and ingenuity.

As Comrade Obama revealed in his State of the Union address, he has found a solution to the Sword of Damocles that hangs over us in the form of massive government debt: pour still more money into 19th century technology to placate environmental extremists. It takes more than windmills to bankrupt a great nation; only when the country is criss-crossed by empty trains can we be sure to achieve socialist penury — aka, a green economy:

"Within 25 years, our goal is to give 80% of Americans access to high-speed rail, which could allow you go places in half the time it takes to travel by car. For some trips, it will be faster than flying — without the pat-down. As we speak, routes in California and the Midwest are already underway."

For most routes, it will be far slower than flying, which is why Amtrak has to be financed coercively with endless subsidies. At least terrorists will be pleased to hear about the absence of pat-downs.

Dennis Kucinich Bites Into the Jackpot

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:13 AM

We haven't heard from the former Boy Mayor of the Mistake by the Lake for awhile. Did his alien friends fly him away to a more progressive world? No such luck. He's in the District of Criminals, doing what Democrats do best: sanctimoniously looting. The vegan elf found an unpitted olive in his sandwich at the Congressional cafeteria. In the age of greedy lawyers run amok, that's the same as striking gold.

Rep. Dennis Kucinich has rapped a U.S. House of Representatives cafeteria with a $150,000 lawsuit for selling him a vegetarian sandwich wrap in 2008 that he says caused dental damage when he bit into an olive pit.

In addition to dental damage, the pint-sized parasite wants other people's money to compensate him for "pain, suffering, and loss of enjoyment."

"Said sandwich wrap was unwholesome and unfit for human consumption in that it was presented to contain pitted olives, yet unknown to plaintiff, contained an unpitted olive or olives which plaintiff did not reasonably expect to be in the food prepared for him, and could not visually detect prior to consumption," the lawsuit said.

Kucinich is also suing two companies that supply the cafeteria. Apparently providing the golden olive was a joint operation. Unlike the cafeteria itself, they probably can't fall back on the deep pockets of us taxpayers.

It's not easy running a business in a country where some greedy clown claiming an olive wasn't pitted will cost you $150,000 plus legal fees. But that's not Kookcinich's problem. The Democrat philosophy is to grab all you can, while you can, before it all collapses, after which we'll have socialist utopia. That's how we got a national debt so huge that it will never be paid off.

Olbermann's Cornell Exit Exam

It's true that Keith Olbermann was unceremoniously dumped from his MSNBC soapbox, but just because his habit of spouting moronic and obviously false opinions wrecked his career doesn't mean he isn't an educated man. According to the Chisago County Sheriff's Office, detectives began an investigation after a Child Exploitation Unit in Toronto, Canada advised them of a sexual abuse case they had uncovered through a peer-to-peer Internet file sharing network that is known for the rapid exchange of child pornography.

Unfortunately for Norby, society hasn't yet come fully to grips with pedophobia and bestialophobia. But by the time she gets out of jail, her "sexual orientation" will probably entitle her to hiring priority and privileged parking places.

Moonbats Rally Support for Knife-Wielding Maniac Casey Brezik

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:31 AM

What's the difference between an apolitical psychotic maniac like Jared Loughner, and a politically motivated psychotic maniac like Casey Brezik, who slashed a dean's throat thinking he was the Governor of Missouri? Brezik has the support of the political community he represents (i.e., moonbats). From Anarchist news dot org:

We now have the address of Casey Brezik, accused anarchist assassin. Please write to him and let him know that he's not forgotten. The jail he's in will only let him receive standard size postcards. If people want crazy shit to happen, then we should be supporting people when crazy shit goes down. Send him a postcard today!

Denver Anarchist Black Cross supportively adds:

Casey is and has been an anarchist for some time that was active off and on for the last couple years in the Kansas City area. Despite the attempts to discredit Casey in the media, members of DABC have known Casey as an active and passionate anarchist and revolutionary, and although he did indeed battle with mental health issues, he was nonetheless committed to revolutionary struggle and social justice.

Comrade Obama and his media support system are also committed to the coercive form of depravity that goes by the euphemism "social justice," which — combined with his race — explains why you haven't heard much about Brezik.

So where's the Tea Party's call to send uplifting post cards to Jared Loughner? Oh that's right, Jared Loughner has never had anything whatsoever to do with the Tea Party, its allies, or its goals. Given the Obamunist media's deliberately deceptive coverage, that's easy to forget.

New York Times to Facilitate Publishing Stolen Classified Documents

After derailing national security efforts by exposing overseas wiretaps and a program targeting networks that fund Islamic terrorists, and gleefully publishing gay military poster child Bradley Manning's classified leaks, the New York Times is so certain that it will never be charged with treason that it is installing a fast lane for illicit documents:

The New York Times is considering options to create an in-house submission system that could make it easier for would-be leakers to provide large files to the paper.
Executive editor Bill Keller told The Cutline that he couldn't go into details, "especially since nothing is nailed down." But when asked if he could envision a system like Al Jazeera's Transparency Unit, Keller said the paper has been "looking at something along those lines."

The New York Times follows the lead of Al Jazeera. Sorry, this isn't exactly news.

"A small group from computer-assisted reporting and interactive news, with advice from the investigative unit and the legal department, has been discussing options for creating a kind of EZ Pass lane for leakers," Keller said.

Moonbat Entertainment: The Last Supper

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:48 AM

While moonbats exploit the apolitical Tucson shootings to make pious calls for ascendant conservatives to water down their rhetoric, a play called The Last Supper gives an idea of what can be expected in return:

Five lefty graduate students in Iowa City gather for weekly dinners to revel in their shared (and sometimes smug) world view. The first dinner we witness ignites a surprising shared mission when one of the students invites the truck driver who offered him roadside assistance to join them. This young man, a patriotic Desert Storm vet, first startles the group when he insists on saying grace before the vegan meal and then goes on to praise Hitler, alarming and repulsing the other dinners. Threats and violence ensue, and one of the hosts stabs him.
As he lies bleeding on an area rug, the quintet, after some debate and initial hand-wringing, decide that they have done society a favor by eliminating him and silencing his dangerous words. They also decide that since participating in protests and sit-ins has been a futile way to fight the power, this new dinner party/murder method may be a more effective technique in coping with right-wing adversaries.
Soon a parade of special guests is invited to dine, and when their dinner conversation proves repellent, they are given poisoned wine and buried in the backyard. Our smarty-pants grad students toast themselves for making a difference each time and feel vindicated when they learn that their first victim, the trucker, was implicated in a heinous crime. The death toll grows, and the tomato plants seen through the patio door flourish.

For progressives, civility is using poison instead of a knife.

Do not accept dinner invitations from smug moonbats.

George Monbiot's Predicted Global Famine No More Evident Than Global Warming

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:12 AM

Eco-totalitarians have exactly one constructive use — they provide laughs with their shrill predictions of doom. Here's What George Monbiot was shrieking into the receptive ears of Britain's liberal elitists in 2002:

Within as little as 10 years, the world will be faced with a choice: arable farming either continues to feed the world's animals or it continues to feed the world's people. It cannot do both.

The 10 years will be up next year. Yet despite two years of Obamunism, there is still food on the shelves.

The impending crisis will be accelerated by the depletion of both phosphate fertiliser and the water used to grow crops. Every kilogram of beef we consume, according to research by the agronomists David Pimental and Robert Goodland, requires around 100,000 litres of water.

Only a proctologist could tell you where professional doomsayers come up with these statistics.

If you thought being a mere vegetarian could save us from the impending apocalypse, think again:

Many of those who have begun to understand the finity of global grain production have responded by becoming vegetarians. But vegetarians who continue to consume milk and eggs scarcely reduce their impact on the ecosystem. The conversion efficiency of dairy and egg production is generally better than meat rearing, but even if everyone who now eats beef were to eat cheese instead, this would merely delay the global famine. As both dairy cattle and poultry are often fed with fishmeal (which means that no one can claim to eat cheese but not fish), it might, in one respect, even accelerate it.

The only solution — veganism:

It's impossible to avoid the conclusion that the only sustainable and socially just option is for the inhabitants of the rich world to become, like most of the earth's people, broadly vegan, eating meat only on special occasions like Christmas.
As a meat-eater, I've long found it convenient to categorise veganism as a response to animal suffering or a health fad. But, faced with these figures, it now seems plain that it's the only ethical response to what is arguably the world's most urgent social justice issue.

Since the entire Western World is unlikely to voluntarily switch to a diet on lentils and bean curd to please George Moonbat, it will have to be imposed by Big Government — like everything else on the absurd and malignant liberal agenda.

Our rulers had better act fast: we've only got one year left before the global famine hits!

Let's go, George. It's medication time.

Manslaughter Charges for Defending Property From Cocaine-Crazed Derelict

Posted by Dave Blount at 4:06 PM

If you're in Canada and you find a drug-addled vagrant breaking into your car, maybe you'd better just hand him the keys. Don't defend your property — unless you want to wind up in prison:

A 22-year-old college student faces a manslaughter trial after punching a homeless drug addict who was trying to get into his car, a case that highlights the limits of how far people can go to protect their property.
The trial for Mark Curtis, which began Monday, deals with the death of Robert William Hiel, a 47-year-old sometime resident of a downtown Windsor Salvation Army centre who, the Crown prosecutor told a Superior Court, was just checking parked cars for unlocked doors to steal a bit of change when he was struck with a fatal blow.
Assistant Crown attorney Jennifer Holmes told the court that Mr. Curtis and a female friend were parked in the alley at 1:30 a.m. on April 16, 2008 after being out at a nightclub when they spotted Mr. Hiel walking down a row of cars. Mr. Hiel pulled open the door to Mr. Curtis's car and exchanged words with his friend. The two got into an argument and Mr. Curtis accused the man of trying to break into his car. Mr. Curtis punched Mr. Hiel, Ms. Holmes told the court, a fact that the defence does not dispute. …
Mr. Hiel "battled substance abuse," Ms. Holmes said. His blood and urine showed he had used cocaine in the hours before his death. He wasn't breaking into vehicles or intending to cause damage, she told the court.
"He was looking for spare change to get high," she said.

Oh, that's all right then. So long as the burglary was for a good cause.

Don't call Hiel a drug fiend. He was a noble victim, valiantly battling substance abuse. Maybe after the moonbat establishment avenges his memory, they'll erect a statue.

Genghis Khan, Eco-Warrior

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:45 AM

For centuries, Genghis Khan has been reviled throughout the world as one of the most evil tyrants who ever lived. But from the progressive point of view, he was just a little ahead of his time. Consequently, he's being rehabilitated:

Genghis Khan's Mongol invasion in the 13th and 14th centuries was so vast that it may have been the first instance in history of a single culture causing man-made climate change, according to new research out of the Carnegie Institution's Department of Global Ecology, reports
Unlike modern day climate change, however, the Mongol invasion actually cooled the planet, effectively scrubbing around 700 million tons of carbon from the atmosphere.
So how exactly did Genghis Khan, one of history's cruelest conquerors, earn such a glowing environmental report card? The reality may be a bit difficult for today's environmentalists to stomach, but Khan did it the same way he built his empire — with a high body count.
Over the course of the century and a half run of the Mongol Empire, about 22 percent of the world's total land area had been conquered and an estimated 40 million people were slaughtered by the horse-driven, bow-wielding hordes. Depopulation over such a large swathe of land meant that countless numbers of cultivated fields eventually returned to forests.
In other words, one effect of Genghis Khan's unrelenting invasion was widespread reforestation, and the re-growth of those forests meant that more carbon could be absorbed from the atmosphere.

Thus leading to more comfortable weather for the polar bears, according to unproven moonbat theory. Even Mr. Magoo could see where this is going.

Anyone who thinks today's environmentalists would have any difficulty stomaching tens of millions of corpses piled up on behalf of the animals is referred to University of Texas biologist Eric Pianka, who calls for an airborne strain of the Ebola virus to kill off 90% of us. Support in the academic community for Pianka and his genocidal views will raise the hair on the back of your neck.

Next up for rehabilitation: Adolf Hitler. Why not? He was an environmentalist, a socialist, and a reputed vegetarian, and he stopped millions of people from oppressing Gaia with their carbon emissions.

Plus Muslims like him.

Gabrielle Giffords and ObamaCare

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:34 AM

Best wishes for Gabrielle Giffords's continued recovery. American medicine certainly can work miracles. It's a good thing she's a member of Congress, and not a normal pleb under ObamaCare. Jeffrey Lord asks:

If Gabrielle Giffords were not part of the governing elite — the Ruling Class — with this serious of a wound, a gunshot to the brain — under ObamaCare would she be receiving this kind of A-triple plus treatment?
Or, would she instead be receiving the treatment President Obama himself insisted must be required for average Americans when he said:
"I don't think that we can make judgments based on peoples' spirit. That would be a pretty subjective decision to be making. I think we have to have rules…"
Rules. Government rules. And it is precisely Gabby Giffords' "spirit" that is being cited in news stories as evidence of her progress. A clear violation of the President's insistence that medical decisions can't be "based on peoples' spirit...we have to have rules." Unless, apparently, one is Gabby Giffords — or, in fairness to Giffords — Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. Member of the Ruling Class Gabby Giffords.

You don't have to look far to find clues as to where Giffords would be under ObamaCare if she didn't have a seat at the Big Government table:

At the other end of the scale in Arizona recently were two decidedly non-Ruling Class men, Francisco Felix and Mark Price, both denied government-financed procedures under the state's Medicaid program for cost purposes. Felix needed a liver transplant, Price a bone marrow operation. The government — in this case the state of Arizona — had to ration care for cost purposes. Precisely the death panel argument Sarah Palin has been mocked for making about Obamacare. So — with the government in charge of rationing care — the two men died. … What faced Francisco and Felix was death by government bureaucrat, a shocked Felix's wife saying: "How does one person have the right to decide who's going to live and who's not?"

Socialism works great — for the ruling class. It is pure hell for everyone else. The trick oligarchical collectivists play is convincing the gullible that they too can be part of the ruling class, just by agreeing with its ideology as spelled out by the "mainstream" media. But under ObamaCare, a subscription to the New York Times is not going to save you from just getting a pain pill when you find yourself in need. If you want first-class medical care, you'll have to run for Congress.

Under socialism, some animals are less equal than others.

British Children Not Allowed in British Playgroup

Britain under the rule of moonbats is not the best place to be British:

Emma Knightley, 25, and Kimberley Wildman, 27, turned up at the 'Making Links' playgroup with their children Imogen, 21 months, and Olivia, 18 months.
But they were stunned when organisers at the centre in St Neots, Cambs., ordered them to leave after being asked 'what country are you from' and they answered "British".
The best friends were told that only foreign mums and children are welcome at the council-funded playgroup…

Local mothers try to get their kids into the playgroup because it is free — i.e., financed through taxes by the very Britons who are not allowed to take part.

Making Links, which is based at the Priory Centre in St Neots, is funded by a £1,000 annual grant from St Neots Town Council. …
The aims of the project are to "develop cross-cultural friendships", "promote cultural identity and self-esteem" and "promote community relationships with local service providers".

Evidently "cross-cultural friendships" are not to include friendships with the Britons being displaced from their own country with the aggressive assistance of their own government.

Obama's Five-Year Plan: Build Stuff and Invent Stuff

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:59 PM

The important thing, now that we have abandoned freedom for a command economy, is to have the right pointy-headed experts in command. Fortunately Comrade Obama is a guy who knows just what it takes to make the economy hum:

"For America to compete around the world, we need to export more goods around the world," he said, in a city [Schenectady] where Thomas Edison, the inventor of the light bulb, founded the precursor to GE.

Ironically, the light bulb will be banned next year, at the behest of Obama's crony capitalist friends at the corrupt obscenity GE has deteriorated into.

BHO continued:

"We're going back to Thomas Edison's principles. We're going to build stuff and invent stuff."

Comrades, you are hereby commanded to invent stuff. As for building stuff, the EPA and unions have made that infeasible. Nonetheless, Obama has "vowed to double U.S. exports in five years." Bureaucrats command it; therefore, it will be done. That's what five-year plans are all about.

Van Jones Defines Social Justice

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:31 AM

Comrade Obama's former Green Jobs Czar, the admitted communist and "rowdy black nationalist" Van Jones, defines social justice, a favorite liberal euphemism for collectivist totalitarianism:

Would you be willing to take your life, write it on a card, throw it in a big pot with everybody else, reach in at random and pull out another life with total confidence that it would be a good life?

If so, society has achieved social justice. Note that the individual has been eradicated; one life is more or less the same as another. You can get up at 5:00 AM and work your fingers to the bone or you can roll out of bed at noon and eat cookies in front of the TV: no difference in outcome.

Don't bother working hard to give your kids an advantage; under social justice, all advantages are passed out by the government. If the kids are black or Muslim or grow up to have psychosexual identity problems, good for them. Otherwise they go to the back of the bus, and there is nothing you or they can do about it.

In such a world, there is no point to exerting any effort, because anything you make will be confiscated and redistributed, even assuming you are allowed to make it. All you can do is shuffle through life as a government slave.

It would be better to live in the forest as an animal than in liberal utopia.

Shooting Spree in Detroit Police Station

Imagine the 24/7 media circus it would set off if a white guy went into a police station in Provo and started shooting up the place, wounding four officers. But if a black guy does it in Detroit, it barely causes a ripple:

It was just before 4:30 p.m. Sunday when the gunman came into the police station and started shooting.
A female sergeant in a hallway was hit first. Commander Brian Davis raced out of his office, exchanged fire with the gunman and got shot in the back.
Then the gunman rushed the horseshoe-shaped front desk with his pistol grip shotgun. Sgt. Ray Saati and Officer David Anderson also were shot before the gunman was killed.
That's how terror unfolded in the Detroit Police Department's Northwestern District, according to interviews with police sources.

No doubt if Keith Olbermann were still around, he would find a way to tie this around the neck of Sarah Palin. In his absence, we are left to link it to Detroit's headlong plunge into primordial jungle.

Economies and societies will collapse in tandem. A look at this once great city's top 10 employers gives a clue as to why its economy has disintegrated:

Considering that Wayne State is a public university, and GM and Chrysler were essentially absorbed by the Obama Administration on behalf of the UAW, the only ones that aren't government entities are healthcare related — and the ObamaCare has set in motion the nationalization of that industry.

Who in the private sector is generating the tax revenue to meet the payrolls? In Detroit, hardly anyone. Big Government and unions have made it impossible to do business.

Once world famous as the industrial backbone of America, Detroit is now known for the term Detroitification, defined as "the long process of hollowing out a private economy to prop up an unsustainable government." It's as good a word as any to describe what happens when liberals are left in charge.

Chinese Stick Finger in America's Eye

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:00 AM

According to the invitations, the state dinner in honor of communist dictator Hu Jintao Wednesday night was supposed to be a "quintessentially American" evening. Via Michelle Malkin:

Instead, it was quintessentially Obamunist, with America getting spat on while Obama simpered cluelessly:

At the White House State dinner on Jan. 19, about six minutes into his set, [Chinese pianist] Lang Lang began tapping out a famous anti-American propaganda melody from the Korean War: the theme song to the movie "Battle on Shangganling Mountain."
The film depicts a group of "People's Volunteer Army" soldiers who are first hemmed in at Shanganling (or Triangle Hill) and then, when reinforcements arrive, take up their rifles and counterattack the U.S. military "jackals."
The movie and the tune are widely known among Chinese, and the song has been a leading piece of anti-American propaganda by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for decades. CCP propaganda has always referred to the Korean War as the "movement to resist America and help [North] Korea." The message of the propaganda is that the United States is an enemy — in fighting in the Korean War the United States' real goal was said to be to invade and conquer China. The victory at Triangle Hill was promoted as a victory over imperialists. …
"My Motherland" having been played at the White House will be seen as a propaganda triumph in China.

It's not as bad as building a mosque at Ground Zero, but it gets the message across.

"In the eyes of all Chinese, this will not be seen as anything other than a big insult to the U.S.," says Yang Jingduan, a Chinese psychiatrist now living in Philadelphia who had in China been a doctor in the Chinese military. "It's like insulting you in your face and you don't know it, it's humiliating."

The plan to play the song was known in advance, and must have been approved by the ChiCom leadership.

Liberals are no doubt pleased that we've restored America's standing in the world by replacing W with a 90-lb. weakling who gets sand kicked in his face as he rolls out the red carpet for our rivals.

Sorry Casey Brezik, the Media Doesn't Cover Your Kind

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:00 AM

The "mainstream" media must have tired itself out reinventing Jared Loughner as a Tea Party conservative. They didn't even bother trying to make Casey Brezik fit the template; instead they simply ignored it when he slashed the throat of a dean thinking it was the Governor of Missouri. Via American Thinker:

In September 2010 Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon was scheduled to speak at Penn Valley Community College in Kansas City.
At some point, wearing black clothes and a bullet-proof vest, 22 year-old Casey Brezik bolted out of a classroom, knife in hand, and slashed the throat of a dean. As he would later admit, he confused the dean with Nixon.
The story never left Kansas City. It is not hard to understand why. Knives lack the political sex appeal of guns, and even Keith Olbermann would have had a hard time turning Brezik into a Tea Partier.
Indeed, Brezik seems to have inhaled just about every noxious vapor in the left-wing miasma: environmental extremism, radical Islam, anti-capitalism, anti-Zionism and Christophobia, among others.
In his "About Me" box on Facebook, Brezik listed as his favorite quotation one from progressive poster boy, Che Guevara. The quote begins "Our every action is a battle cry against imperialism" and gets more belligerent from there.
On his wall postings, Brezik ranted, "How are we the radical(s) (left) to confront the NEW RIGHT, if we avoid confrontation all together?"

Like most on the Left, Brezik sides with Islam against Western Civilization:

In reference to an article about Terry Jones and his proposed Quran burning, Brezik posted on the day before his planned assault, "This is now a Holy war. Scriptures have been desecrated. War U can't handle. Make a choice and quick."

Unfortunately for Brezik, he won't be able to ignite a socialist revolution if his fellow lefties refuse to report his crime for fear it would expose liberalism as a sociopathic ideology.

Maybe we really do have a racist society. When a white guy goes berserk, the media grants him all the infamy he could ever desire. He doesn't even have to quote Ronald Reagan or refer to the Bible; "journalists" will spin him into a conservative no matter how much dishonesty is required.

Race did not work in favor of Brezik getting any media coverage.

Yet Another New Level of Shamelessness for Newsweek

There is zero reason to ascribe any patriotic motives to Jared Loughner whatsoever. But Newsweek isn't about to let the truth stand in the way of the media establishment's narrative. Wrapping the killer in an American flag is sure to push the desired impression into the heads of people who aren't really paying attention and don't know what's going on.

This Time for Real: The Demise of Keith Olbermann

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:16 PM

Last November it appeared the odious Keith Olbermann had finally been canned — but his indefinite suspension only lasted two days. But this time it appears to be for real:

Keith Olbermann, MSNBC's most successful and controversial personality for his outspoken liberal prime-time program, gave an abrupt goodbye to viewers and said Friday was his last show.
It was not immediately known if he quit or was fired. Olbermann did not address the question, and MSNBC said only that they and Olbermann had ended their contract. He signed a four-year contract two years ago.

The details aren't clear, but it appears that Olbermann is so obnoxious that not even MSNBC could stand him anymore.

Queef recently did a monologue in which he challenged the punditry to take a more civilized tone, while at the same time accusing conservatives of feeling "triumphant" over Gabrielle Giffords having been shot. Other lowlights of his execrable career include claiming that Pat Tillman was assassinated by American soldiers on behalf of George W. Bush.

Nothing could be too vile for Olbermann to sanctimoniously screech into a camera. The world will be a better place if he crawls back into his bathtub and stays there.

Dem Pols Obstruct Investigation of Global Warming Fraud

Posted by Dave Blount at 3:02 PM

Michael Mann, inventor of Al Gore's blatantly bogus hockey stick graph, was unsurprisingly found innocent by the educrats at Penn State of filling their coffers with taxpayer money by conducting "research" consisting of lies in support of the global warming hoax. But he's still not out of the woods for having committed similar crimes against the public trust at University of Virginia:

Not only did Mann participate in perhaps the greatest scam of modern times, but he may also have fraudulently used taxpayer funds to do so.
At least Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli thinks so, and has been diligently trying to obtain from U.Va. documents and e-mails related to Mann's work there. Mann reportedly received around $500,000 from taxpayer-funded grants from the university for research there from 1999 to 2005.
Cuccinelli is alleging a possible violation of a 2002 statute, the Virginia Fraud Against Taxpayers Act. The AG has said that he wants the documents, including grant applications and e-mails exchanged between Mann and 39 other scientists and university staffers, to help determine whether Mann committed fraud by knowingly manipulating data as he sought the taxpayer-funded grants for his research.
Mann was at the heart of the ClimateGate scandal when e-mails were unearthed from Britain's Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia. In one e-mail sent to Mann and others by CRU director Philip Jones, Jones speaks of the "trick" of filling in gaps of data in order to hide evidence of temperature decline:
"I've just completed Mike's Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (i.e. from 1981 onwards) and from 1961 for Keith's to hide the decline." It was that attempt to "hide the decline" through the manipulation of data that brought down the global warming house of cards.

However, the liberal establishment has too much invested to give up on the hoax just yet, so Mann still has friends in high places.

Attempting to block Cuccinelli and rising to Mann's defense are Virginia state senators Chap Petersen and Donald McEachin. They are backing legislation that would strip the attorney general's office of its power to issue "civil investigative demands," otherwise known as subpoenas, under the 2002 statute.

Meanwhile, Mann continues to spin lies into money:

After Mann left U.Va., he went to Penn State, which the Obama administration awarded with $541,184 in economic stimulus funds to save, according to, 1.62 jobs so that Professor Mann could continue his tree-ring circus fraudulently advancing the myth of man-made global warming that through equally bogus remedies like cap-and-trade and EPA regulations would bring the U.S. economy to its knees.

"Tree-ring circus" refers to Mann's laughably fraudulent "research" seeking to prop up the phony hockey stick graph by cherry-picking data from tree rings.

Informed people know that global warming is a deliberate hoax, fed to us by swindlers greedy for money and power. However, a liberal media that will try to blame Sarah Palin for the Tucson shootings is not above resorting to the most absurd lies imaginable to try to keep the farce alive a little longer.

Don't laugh or Mann will sue.

Obama Insider Patrick Gaspard of ACORN/SEIU Named Democratic National Committee Executive Director

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:06 PM

They say the appallingly thuggish SEIU (closely tied to Obama) and the disgraced, degenerate ACORN (closely tied to Obama) are two names for the same entity. After all, they have shared offices and staff. Actually this entity has three names, the other being the Democratic National Committee. After all, they share leadership:

In a letter Thursday, Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine announced that he had selected Patrick Gaspard to serve as the political party's new executive director.
The selection is certain to draw criticism from conservatives because of Gaspard's past association with activist organization ACORN.
Gaspard donated thousands of dollars to ACORN, The American Spectator has reported, and worked for New York's Working Families Party and labor union SEIU.

The Working Families Party is a front group for ACORN. Gaspard's SEIU ties run deep. He served it for nine years as the Executive Vice President for Politics and Legislation.

That Gaspard personifies the enduring bridge between ACORN and Obama has been noted before. His current job is Director of the Office of Political Affairs for the Obama Administration — i.e., he is Comrade Obama's Karl Rove.

The SEIU, ACORN, the Obama Administration, the Democrat Party — they are all the same entity. Gaspard's next job will probably be head of the news division for an alphabet network.

Comrade Obama Gets Tough With Hu Jintao

When dealing with the dictator of an emerging authoritarian rival, it sure helps to have a bare-knuckle negotiator like Barry Soetoro at the helm. Charles Hurt comments on the diplomatic fallout of the red carpet shindig for the world's top communist (unless you count Obama):

Who did you think would come out on top if you put a tiger and a dove in the same room together to work out their differences?
Yes, those were white bird feathers sticking out of the tiger's mouth at the lavish state dinner hosted by President Obama at the White House this week.
President Hu Jintao is a Tiger Leader. That's kind of like a Tiger Mother, only less nurturing and more demanding.
President Obama is a Dove Leader. He speaks endlessly and carries no stick. And he likes to do a lot of bowing and scraping. Kind of like the way Hu Jintao likes to do a lot of not smiling.

Bizarre Media Campaign to Link Sarah Palin to Tucson Shootings Actually Worked

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:33 AM

There is a reason the "mainstream" media relentlessly bashes Sarah Palin, even blaming her for a tragic event that had absolutely no connection with her whatsoever — it works:

After days of relentless attacks by media across the fruited plain, Sarah Palin's unfavorable rating hit an all-time high this week. …
From January 8 [the day of the Tucson Massacre] through January 16, CNN ran 80 stories that included the name of the former Alaska governor.
That's roughly nine pieces per day, during which her name was mentioned approximately 664 times or over 70 times every 24 hours!
As few if any of these mentions were positive, is there any wonder a new CNN/Opinion Research poll found 56 percent of all Americans now have an unfavorable view of Sarah Palin — an all-time high?

Not many people watch CNN anymore. But adding in the numbers for NPR, ABC, CBS, and NBC, plus the prime time weekday numbers for MSNBC, there were 179 reports on Palin in 16 days, mentioning her name 1,485 times. Screaming her name over and over again in the aftermath of a tragedy will inevitably form a link in people's minds, even if no rational connection has been proven or even suggested.

As moonbat congresscritter Steve Cohen might say, "repeat a lie often enough…"

When news of the shootings first broke, I warned, "Keep your eyes open; this will be exploited." But I had no idea it would be this shameless. There truly is nothing beneath the liars running the liberal media establishment.

Insanity of Britain's Equality Act Continues to Unfold

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:36 AM

If you want to work in Britain's public sector, it helps to be a pervert. Naturally Muslims and those of non-British origin are favored too:

Millions of teachers, nurses and policemen could be asked to disclose their sexuality, religion and race as part of a new Coalition equality drive.
Lib Dem equalities minister Lynne Featherstone says all public sector organisations should consider sending 'diversity monitoring forms' to staff to prove they are treating all sections of society fairly.

That is, to prove they are discriminating against normal British people.

If the numbers don't meet with Miss Featherstone's satisfaction, de facto quotas will inevitably follow. Job-seekers are advised to consider sex change operations:

Miss Featherstone supports sending staff a questionnaire about their sexuality and even whether they have had a sex change.

Meanwhile, meaningful requirements go out the window. For example, the minimum height for police officers will apparently be scrapped because it discriminates against women — and presumably dwarves.

According to Featherstone's office, complying with Britain's demented Equality Act "may involve treating some people better than others, as far as this is allowed by discrimination law."

I think that means if you are an average Briton looking for work, your government will plant a shoe on your face. But homosexual Muslim dwarves from Africa who have had a sex change operation need no further qualifications.

Featherstone determines who's "oppressed" enough to be hired.

Not Everybody Is Wearing a Party Hat for Hu Jintao

Posted by Dave Blount at 2:05 PM

Despite all the gala celebrations as the Obamination Administration rolls out the red carpet for communist tyrant Hu Jintao, some Chinese on the right side of the Bamboo Curtain are in a less than festive mood:

One activist, former Tiananmen Square student leader Chai Ling, pointed out, "As we gather here in Washington, over 35,000 forced and coerced abortions are taking place today in China."
Ling called the "brutal" enforcement of the one-child policy "the largest crime against humanity."
"It is the inhumane secret slaughter against mothers and babies," he said. "It is a Tiananmen massacre taking place every hour; and it is an unending holocaust that has gone on for 30 years."

Ling didn't explain why he would expect the most avidly pro-abortion president in our history to have a problem with this.

Principled congressmen haven't been caught up in the party spirit either. A Republican from New Jersey drew attention to the bleak irony resulting from Comrade Obama being a Nobel Peace Prize laureate:

Pro-life Congressman and human rights activist Chris Smith also used the press conference to criticize President Hu's treatment of this year's Nobel Peace Prize nominee Liu Xiaobo, who is imprisoned in China and was therefore unable to attend the award ceremony in Oslo. Hu also had Liu's wife and friends placed under house arrest for fear they would come to Oslo to receive the prize for him.
"President Obama, as the 2009 Nobel Peace laureate, has an obligation to call for Liu's release publicly and vigorously," said Smith, a longtime human rights advocate in Congress, chair of the House Human Rights Subcommittee and Executive Committee Member of the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission (TLHRC).
Smith said that over the years he has had the "privilege" of meeting many Nobel Peace laureates, and that "for the peace laureates, the idea that they could meet personally with and throw a White House state dinner for a political leader responsible for jailing another laureate and not demand publicly for their fellow laureate's release would be something absolutely unthinkable."
"I truly hope that in the next few days President Obama lives up to the award he received in 2009," said Smith.

That's unlikely, which may be why the moonbats in Oslo awarded Obama the prize before he had had a chance to accomplish anything — or mess anything up. Some laureates get Nobel prizes because they deserve them. Others get them because it advances the Left's agenda to pretend they do.

Water, Water Everywhere but Hardly a Drop for Farmers

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:37 AM

As the great Milton Friedman famously observed, "If you put the federal government in charge of the Sahara Desert, in five years there'd be a shortage of sand." Likewise, excessive rain is no cure for drought with Big Government at the helm. From Congressman Tom McClintock (R-CA):

California's precipitation this season has gone off the charts. Statewide snow water content is 198 percent of normal; in the all-important Northern Sierra snowpack is 174 percent of normal. This is not only a wet year — it is one of the wettest years on record.
Yet [Tuesday], we have this announcement from the Department of the Interior: that despite a nearly unprecedented abundance of water, the Bureau of Reclamation will only guarantee delivery of 45 percent of the California Central Valley's contracted water supply south of the Delta. This is the same percentage they received last year with barely average rainfall.
This is of crucial importance to the entire nation, since the Central Valley of California is one of the largest producers of our nation's food supply. California produces half of the U.S.-grown fruits, nuts and vegetables on the nation's grocery shelves and the prices you pay are directly affected by the California harvest.
The deliberate decision by this administration in 2009 and 2010 to divert hundreds of billions of gallons of water away from the Central Valley destroyed a quarter million acres of the most productive farmland in America, it threw tens of thousands of families into unemployment and it affected grocery prices across the country.
At the time, the administration blamed a mild drought, but never explained why a drought justified their decision to pour 200 billion gallons of water (that we did have) directly into the Pacific Ocean.

Why would our rulers behave as if they were utterly insane? Because they are moonbats.

The real reason for this irrational policy, of course, is that they were indulging the environmental Left's pet cause, a three-inch minnow called the Delta Smelt. Diverting precious water to Delta Smelt habitat was considered more important than producing the food that feeds the country and preserving the jobs that produce the food.

Now that libs' precious minnows have more than enough water for their habitat, can farmers have some water to grow food? No they cannot. The insanity continues:

At the same time this Administration is denying California Central Valley agriculture 1.1 million acre feet of their rightfully contracted water in one of the wettest years on record, it is dumping 1.4 million acre feet of additional water into the Pacific Ocean.

Maybe this isn't about useless minnows after all. Maybe it's about a government hostile to the people it rules that deliberately creates shortages so that it can hold more power over us by rationing.

There was a time when the principal objective of our federal water policy was to assure an abundance of water to support a growing population and a flourishing economy. But in recent years, a radical and retrograde ideology has taken root in our public policy, abandoning abundance as the objective of our water policy and replacing it with the government rationing of government-created shortages.

When applied to the healthcare industry, this strategy for imposing oligarchical collectivism is called ObamaCare.

It's about authoritarian power, not the damned delta smelt.

In light of the media campaign to effectively criminalize what liberals regard as vitriolic rhetoric, it's only a matter of time until authoritarian statists apply this concept to the First Amendment too. They could target those who have not yet engaged in unapproved rhetoric, but who are likely to do so based on predictors such as Internet usage, cable TV and satellite radio preferences, voter registration, political contributions, presence on Tea Party email lists, etc.

Border Patrol Reduced to Picking Up Trash

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:43 AM

If the Border Patrol isn't defending the border, what are they doing down there besides providing free police services to invading colonists and getting shot by Mexican bandits? National Border Patrol Council Local 2544 reveals the answer — picking up trash:

Teams of uniformed Border Patrol agents from the Casa Grande [AZ] station are being ordered to spend their duty shifts cleaning up trash on the Tohono O'Odham Indian reservation instead of performing the police work they were hired for. This is outrageous. Border Patrol agents are not dumping trash on the reservation, nor are we responsible for cleaning up the mess. Illegal aliens, smugglers, and reservation members are dumping trash on the reservation. For example, there are thousands upon thousands of empty quart beer bottles strewn about the reservation, dumped there by tribal members. Many tribal residents dump household trash wherever it's convenient. And as we all know, illegal aliens and smugglers could care less about littering in this country. Littering by tribal members and illegal aliens on the reservation has been going on for decades.

An update highlights the sophisticated equipment being issued to Border Patrol agents:

Our newest information indicates that agents showed up for muster at Casa Grande station and were ordered to report to the Tohono O'odham district office at Federal Route 19 and Baboquivari Park Road. They were issued sticks with nails in them and told to pick up trash along the roadsides. This was presumably in preparation for a meeting with tribal leaders at the District office so that certain BP managers could ingratiate themselves to the tribal leaders. We are disgusted by these actions.
There is a very high unemployment rate on the reservation, and in the country as a whole. The tribe is bringing in millions of dollars in casino revenue. How is it feasible that with an out-of-control border we are assigning Border Patrol agents to do work that many states and municipalities assign prisoners to perform? It is a minimum wage job that takes almost zero job skills, and this is how management decides to utilize Border Patrol manpower?

Of course. The idea is to keep their hands full so they won't interfere with the massive influx of undocumented Democrats.

Abortionist Kills Babies: Kermit Gosnell

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:48 AM

Abortionist kills babies? That's how they make their living. What else is new, butcher cuts meat? But in a world deranged by moonbattery, the everyday can be nightmarish, as the case of Kermit Gosnell makes clear.

When it comes to body count, he may not top the staggering 60,000 boasted by DHHS Head Kathleen Sibelius's generous friend George Tiller, aka "Tiller the Killer," and for ghoulishness no one can match the fetus-eating Krishna Rajanna, but Philadelphia's Dr. Gosnell certainly deserves a plaque in the Planned Parenthood Pro-"Choice" Hall of Infamy:

A doctor who gave abortions to minorities, immigrants and poor women in a "house of horrors" clinic was charged with eight counts of murder in the deaths of a patient and seven babies who were born alive and then killed with scissors, prosecutors said Wednesday.
Dr. Kermit Gosnell, 69, made millions of dollars over 30 years, performing as many illegal, late-term abortions as he could, prosecutors said. State regulators ignored complaints about him and failed to inspect his clinic since 1993, but no charges were warranted against them given time limits and existing law, District Attorney Seth Williams said. Nine of Gosnell's employees also were charged.
Gosnell "induced labor, forced the live birth of viable babies in the sixth, seventh, eighth month of pregnancy and then killed those babies by cutting into the back of the neck with scissors and severing their spinal cord," Williams said.

What kind of guy makes a living helping women to exercise their "right to choose"? This gives an idea:

Bags and bottles holding aborted fetuses "were scattered throughout the building," Williams said. "There were jars, lining shelves, with severed feet that he kept for no medical purpose."

That is, Gosnell is a murderer and a ghoul — characteristics that can help you make a comfy living.

Gosnell charged $325 for first-trimester abortions and $1,600 to $3,000 for abortions up to 30 weeks. Abortions are legal up to 24 weeks gestation in Pennsylvania, although most doctors won't perform them after 20 weeks, prosecutors said. …
Few if any of the sedated women knew their babies were born alive and then killed, prosecutors said.

Why quibble over technicalities? Either it's wrong to kill your children or it isn't. According to our moonbat rulers it isn't — which opens the door for the likes of Dr. Gosnell.

Could Manchurian Moonbat Have Intestinal Parasites?

Our moonbat rulers and the special interest groups they serve are like tapeworms, parasites eating our country from within — which would make this explanation of Comrade Obama's scrawniness poetic justice:

The real reason behind President Obama's shocking weight loss — he's secretly battling stomach parasites, say sources.
The pencil-thin president caught the parasites on a trip last year to Hawaii, where he and his family also vacationed over Christmas, according to top political insiders. …
"Michelle is fearful he's close to a physical collapse," revealed an insider.
"He appears to be wasting away."

Actually, it's America's liberty, standing in the world, and long-term economic prospects that appear to be wasting away and are close to collapse.

Homosexual Sting Operation Nabs Psychotherapist Who Tried to Cure Disease Instead of Encouraging It

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:36 AM

We have sting operations to enforce laws against terrorism, why not have them to enforce the laws imposing the homosexualization of our culture? They're already underway in formerly Great Britain, the canary in the coalmine of authoritarian moonbat degeneracy:

In yet another instance of the growing conflict between believing Christian professionals and the homosexualist movement in Britain, a Christian psychotherapist who helps individuals overcome homosexual inclinations may be "struck off," or barred from practicing her profession.
Lesley Pilkington was the object of a sting operation by undercover journalist Patrick Strudwick, who approached her to ask her for help with his sexuality. He had told Pilkington that he wanted to leave the homosexual lifestyle and she informed him that she only worked within a Christian counseling framework.
Strudwick, who went to two counseling sessions with Pilkington and published the transcript of the meetings in The Independent newspaper, was awarded journalist of the year by the homosexualist organization Stonewall for the sting. After the sessions, he lodged a complaint to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy alleging that Pilkington had failed to respect the "fixed nature" of his homosexuality.

Therein lies Pilkington's thought crime. Under a regime of totalitarian moonbattery, we are not allowed to believe that sexual behavior is a matter of choice. The implications for pedophilia will become clear in the coming years.

Pilkington is scheduled to appear before a professional conduct panel and faces losing her accreditation with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. That's what she gets for responding to a plea for help with a severe psychosexual malady.

Chris Christie, Islamopanderer

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:48 AM

It's wonderful that Chris Christie stands up to teacher's unions, whose runaway greed is helping bleed the country dry. However, unions aren't our only enemies. New Jersey lost more lives than any state other than New York in the Muslim atrocities of 9/11. It was Ramzi Yousef's base of operations for the first World Trade Center attack in 1993, and home of Fort Dix, where an Islamic massacre was planned. Jihadists continue to find the Garden State a convivial home with Governor Christie at the helm. From Right Side News:

Passaic County [NJ] has the second largest Muslim population in the country. And the Islamic Center of Passaic County is the state's largest mosque, and it's the only one run by an an Imam who was a member of the Hamas terrorist organization. But when the United States government attempted to deport Mohammed Qatanani, New Jersey's pols and wannabe pols like Christie, quickly came to his aid. Despite the fact that Mohammed Qatanani was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, the organization that is behind both Al Qaeda and Hamas, despite his own guilty plea to being a member of Hamas, and despite the fact that even in the United States, he had defended a charity that provided funds to children of suicide bombers (this is done as an incentive to reassure terrorists that if they die their families will be taken care of), Qatanani was not deported.
This is less a sign of his innocence, then of the power and influence wielded by Qatanani and the American Muslim Union. There was hardly a top New Jersey public official who did not come out for Qatanani. And that included both of the major candidates in the governor's race, Governor Jon Corzine and Chris Christie. Christie called Qatanani, "a man of great goodwill" and "a constructive force" and allowed Charles McKenna, one of his associate attorneys to testify on behalf of Qatanani. Afterward Christie tapped McKenna to head New Jersey's Department of Homeland Security. McKenna had spent a good deal of time on Muslim "outreach" and made numerous statements echoing their talking points.
The pioneering terrorism researcher, Steve Emerson called it, "a disgrace and an act of pure political corruption". He stated, "I know for certain that Christie and the FBI SAC had access to information about Qatanani's background, involvement with and support of Hamas." Defending Qatanani required Christie to pit himself against the Department of Homeland Security, which wanted him deported.

It gets worse…

Now Christie has nominated Sohail Mohammed, Qatanan's former lawyer, to a Superior Court judgeship. Sohail Mohammed is a board member of the American Muslim Union, an organization that has interlocking leadership with groups that have fundraised for Hamas and hosted a Hamas speaker. The American Muslim Union is closely interlinked with Qatanani's Islamic Center of Passaic County. …
Sohail Mohammed defended suspected terrorist detainees and was the go-to man for local and national media looking for a good quote. He lobbied against the use of both 'Islamic' in descriptions of Islamic terrorists, condemned the television show 24 for depicting Muslim terrorists and made an appearance outside the Qatanani trial. After the massacre of a Coptic Christian family, Sohail Mohammed tried to have some Copts investigated for opposing Muslim attendance at their funeral. And most importantly, Sohail Mohammed was Qatanani's original lawyer when the government began its case against him.

This provides some perspective on Christie's extremely irritating stand on the Ground Zero Mosque obscenity. If you're an expansionist Muslim looking to use terrorism and our corrupt political system to gain a toehold in America, it helps to have friends at the top.

Hawaii Governor Tries and Fails to Find Obama's Birth Certificate

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:49 AM

Two years into the rule of the Manchurian Moonbat, we have finally established one thing about his mysterious background: despite pugnacious promises to quell the "birthers" (i.e., people who want to know why so much of Obama's past is kept secret from the public), not even the Governor of Hawaii can find his birth certificate. From an interview with Neil Abercrombie in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser:

Q: You stirred up quite a controversy with your comments regarding birthers and your plans to release more information regarding President Barack Obama's birth certificate. How is that coming?
A: …it has a political implication for 2012 that we simply cannot have.
(Abercrombie said there is a recording of the birth in the State Archives and he wants to use that.)
It was actually written I am told, this is what our investigation is showing, it actually exists in the archives, written down …
…What I can do, and all I have ever said, is that I am going to see to it as governor that I can verify to anyone who is honest about it that this is the case.

That is, if there is a genuine long-form birth certificate, not even the Democrat Governor of Hawaii has been able to gain access to it. A recording in the state archives is worth no more than the short form birth certificate that proves nothing. It seems unlikely that the Moonbat Messiah wasn't born in Hawaii, but it also seems unlikely that he would spend as much as $1.4 million to keep the birth certificate suppressed if he didn't have something interesting to hide.

We may never know.

Another Obamunist Busted for Violent Threats

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:13 AM

Uh oh, it looks like we've finally found an example of what the liberal media/political establishment has been warning about so stridently — a rabid right-winger spouting inflammatory rhetoric and threatening violence:

A New York money manager with a long history of legal battles with the government has been charged with threatening to kill 47 U.S. officials, including the nation's top securities and commodities regulators.
Vincent McCrudden, 49, last month allegedly posted online an "execution list" naming officials, including Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Mary Schapiro and Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chairman Gary Gensler.
Federal prosecutors said the threat came shortly after the CFTC brought an enforcement action accusing the former commodities trader and two of his companies with operating unregistered investments.
McCrudden threatened officials in emails and web postings at the SEC, CFTC, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and the National Futures Association, authorities said.
"Go buy a gun, and lets get to work in taking back our country from these criminals," McCrudden allegedly wrote, in a statement calling for the four regulators to be abolished. "I will be the first one to lead by example." …
McCrudden has worked on Wall Street for more than 20 years, specializing in commodities, derivatives and foreign exchange, according to his biography on the website of his company, Alnbri Management LLC.

Michael Moore: Having a Gun to Defend Your Home Is Racist

Posted by Dave Blount at 4:25 PM

Marshalling his entire array of intellectual resources, Michael Moore has finally found an answer as to why so many Americans exercise their constitutional right to own firearms to protect themselves, their homes, and their families. Coincidentally it's the same explanation used for everything else moonbats don't like about normal Americans — it's because we're racists.

Only those with strong stomachs and too much time on their hands are advised to watch the whole thing, but if you skip to 12:54 in this appalling video, you'll hear Moore actually castigate gun-owners for objecting to the idea of non-Caucasians breaking into their homes and killing them:

Remember, if some swarthy punk comes through your window to slit your throat for the change on your dresser and rapes your wife while he's at it, it's just social justice in action. Putting up resistance would be racist.

Britain Inundated by Pint-Sized Thought Criminals

Posted by Dave Blount at 1:58 PM

British bureaucrats have their hands full documenting the many thought criminals lurking in their schools:

More than 10,000 primary school pupils in a single year have been labelled racist or homophobic over minor squabbles.
Even toddlers in nursery classes are being penalised for so-called hate crimes such as using the words 'white trash' or 'gaylord'.
Schools are forced to report their language to education authorities, which keep a register of incidents.
This leads to at least 30,000 primary and secondary pupils per year being effectively classed as bigots because of anti-bullying rules.
The school can also keep the pupil's name and 'offence' on file. …if schools are asked for a pupil reference by a future employer or a university, the record could be used as the basis for it, meaning the pettiest of incidents has the potential to blight a child for life.
Figures for the year 2008-9 were obtained under the Freedom of Information Act by the civil liberties group, the Manifesto Club.
They show 29,659 racist incidents reported by schools to local education authorities in England and Wales. Of these, 10,436 were at primary schools and 41 at nursery schools.

Educrats who don't report enough thought criminals get in trouble for "under-reporting" this completely fabricated crisis.

Here's an idea: why doesn't Britain's moonbat ruling class just declare the whole country to be racist and flush it down the toilet? Never mind, they're already doing that.

Tucson Moonbat James Eric Fuller Calls for Torture and Severed Ears

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:54 AM

Finally, a link has been established between overheated political rhetoric and the Tucson Massacre. James Eric Fuller, who was wounded by Jared Loughton and who a week later was carted off by the authorities for yelling death threats at Tucson Tea Party leader Trent Humphries during an ABC town hall event, provides the connection the "mainstream" media tried so hard to fabricate:

James Eric Fuller, 63, who was shot in the knee, had told The Post on Friday, the day before his arrest, that top Republican figures should be tortured — and their ears severed.
"There would be torture and then an ear necklace, with [Minnesota US Rep.] Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin's ears toward the end, because they're small, female ears, and then Limbaugh, Hannity and the biggest ears of all, Cheney's, in the center," Fuller said.
Also on Friday, Fuller stopped by the home of gunman Jared Lee Loughner and told a neighbor he was going to forgive the shooter, The Associated Press said.

The question is whether the country will forgive the liberal media for its deliberate attempt to mislead the public into thinking that conservatives are the dangerous lunatics in this story.

A moonbat will receive much needed psychiatric attention.

James Hansen Calls for ChiCom-Led Boycott of America

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:37 AM

As the global warming hoax unravels, the masks are coming off its major profiteers. Disgraced propagandist James Hansen of NASA unsurprisingly reveals himself to be a treasonous authoritarian with delusions that may qualify as psychotic. In his alternate universe, the communist Chinese are the good guys; only they can save the planet from America by leading a worldwide boycott against us. He spewed this in the South China Morning Post:

"After agreement with other nations, e.g., the European Union, China and these nations could impose rising internal carbon fees. Existing rules of the World Trade Organization would allow collection of a rising border duty on products from all nations that do not have an equivalent internal carbon fee or tax.
"The United States then would be forced to make a choice. It could either address its fossil-fuel addiction … or … accept continual descent into second-rate and third-rate economic well-being."

That is, the WTO (largely funded by the USA) is going to destroy the largest economy on the planet so that the ecofriendly ChiComs can save the polar bears from the cold weather caused by global warming. So far gone is Hansen into his envirofascist fantasy world, he hasn't noticed that most everything in this country is manufactured in China, largely because they impose virtually no environmental restrictions.

Hansen has lost himself in lurid daydreams before:

In 1988, he reportedly told Bob Reiss, author of yet another apocalyptic screed, "The Coming Storm," that in the next 20 years, "The West Side Highway [in Manhattan] will be under water" and, "There will be more police cars" in New York because "well, you know what happens to crime when the heat goes up."
Well, there are more cops and less crime, and the West Side is high and dry. One out of three isn't bad for baseball, but it is horrendous for science.

But then, Hansen's politically and financially motivated ravings never did have much to do with science.

Not only nuts but hostile to the USA.

Emulsifying Dead Moonbats

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:24 AM

Even as the global warming hoax degenerates into absurdity, green scams continue — plaguing us all the way to the grave:

As some Americans push ever harder to leave a smaller carbon footprint on the environment, the funeral industry is taking a new step to help us go even more gently into that good night. Instead of a traditional burial, which takes up space six feet underground, or cremation, which uses a surprising amount of energy, the dead can now be dissolved.
"The public will at last have a true third choice to exit this planet," said Sandy Sullivan, the Scottish biochemist credited with adapting the so-called resomation technique to human remains. …
Resomation, derived from a Greek word meaning "rebirth of the body," is essentially a variation of cremation, done at far lower heat with the use of high pressure and chemicals that emulsify the body.

That is, the dead are reborn as sludge. This benefits the polar bears so much that resomatizers sell for $400,000 apiece, although sales have been slow because of the need for bureaucratic approval before flushing human remains into the public sewer system.

They ought to bring back the Buddhist/Zoroastrian practice of feeding corpses to vultures. Letting the "rebirth of the body" take the form of bird droppings wouldn't be any less reverent than "resomation." Dead moonbats could celebrate multiculturalism while saving the planet from carbon emissions.

Plus they don't cost any $400,000.

Father of Our Country Boxed Away

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:07 AM

Remember when a symbol representing the name of Jesus Christ had to be covered so that Comrade Obama could speak at Catholic Georgetown? Something similar happened yesterday during the MLK festivities. Via Free North Carolina:

The annual MLK observance at the state house in Columbia SC had an interesting twist this year. The event is held on the north side steps of the statehouse. Prominent at that location is a large bronze statue of George Washington. This year, the NAACP constructed a "box" to conceal the Father of His Country from view so that participants would not be offended by his presence.

It would be nice to think that MLK Day is all about striving toward a colorblind society. In reality, it is political correctness day, which means it represents the opposite. If the dream were about people being judged by the content of their character, would they blot out the one person in our national history whose character was beyond reproach?

The real dream appears to be to tear down America, and replace it with a race-based society in which the "victims" always get to be on top, regardless of merit, based on the color of their skin. Progress has been made. Is anyone clueless enough to think Barack Obama would be in office if both his parents had been white?

Study Calls for Eating Bugs to Halt Global Warming

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:11 AM

The experts are once again (see here and here and here) floating the idea of forcing us to eat bugs to save the planet from the imaginary global warming crisis:

Researchers from Wageningen University in the Netherlands say that insects produce far less greenhouse gases than cattle and pigs do, and would thus be a viable alternative to eating meat. Published in the journal PLoS ONE, the study found that pigs, for instance, produce up to one hundred times more greenhouse gases than the equivalent weight of mealworms.
Researchers compared the greenhouse gas emissions of mealworms, crickets, locusts and pigs. Particularly with methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O), the insects produced far lower emissions than pigs did overall. Ammonia emissions, which can pollute groundwater supplies, were also lower among insects compared to cattle.
Researchers did not verify that actually producing insect protein for human consumption is as environmentally-friendly as producing cattle and pig protein, pound for pound. So while the idea may sound beneficial in theory, it is unknown whether or not it would work in real life.

But then, have liberals ever imposed anything inspired by their favored theories that works in real life?

Traditional pasture-based methods of raising animals are actually good for the environment. But our progressive overlords have decided that eating meat is politically incorrect, making studies like this one a cinch to acquire funding.

Kangaroo Court Grants Cash Reward to Militant Homosexuals for Alleged Name-Calling

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:19 AM

Until recently, Canada was considered part of the free world. But then political correctness got completely out of control:

The Quebec Human Rights Tribunal has ordered a Montreal man to pay his gay neighbours $12,000 for allegedly subjecting them to "homophobic comments," death threats and invitations to fight, even though he was acquitted of the charges in a court of law nearly five years ago.
The tribunal ruled that Gordon Lusk, a married father of two, must pay the "moral and punitive" damages after his neighbours, Theo Wouters and Roger Thibault, accused him of addressing them as "faggots" during a June 2006, altercation.

Only George Orwell could have foreseen farcical "human rights" tribunals being used to grind the last of our fundamental liberties under the loafers of bureaucrats on behalf of powerful political factions like perpetually offended homosexuals.

The case against Mr. Lusk, a retired lieutenant colonel of the Canadian Forces, stems from an April 2004, incident in which Mr. Thibault is alleged to have driven recklessly down their street in the Montreal suburb of Pointe Claire while neighbourhood children, including Mr. Lusk's son, were playing road hockey.
A witness testified that Mr. Thibault had run a stop sign and driven at high speed toward one of the kids, nearly hitting the child.

Lieutenant colonels and their children don't count for much from the point of view of the liberal ruling class. Militant perverts count for so much that a mere accusation of name-calling is a "human rights" violation.

The homosexual neighbors have squealed "oppression" before:

[I]n 2001, they began complaining of harassment from a neighbour, Bob Walker, resulting in criminal charges and a 4,000-person anti-homophobia march through their neighbourhood. Mr. Walker was acquitted a year and a half later after the judge in the case encountered difficulty with the credibility of the two men. Six years later, the couple signed a letter of apology to Mr. Walker in which they stated all the complaints made against him were "baseless."

But another time, they raked in $10,000 over some mild pranks. Needless to say, they are "very happy" with the latest insane ruling.

They won't be so happy when continued abuse of perverts' privileged status inevitably leads to a backlash. Calling people "homophobes" might not always cause them to cringe in terror.

When will enough finally be enough?

Time Magazine Passes Off Pro-Terrorist Freedom Flotilla Stunt as Historic Naval Battle

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:55 AM

According to the moonbats rewriting history for Time magazine, the sinking of the Lusitania, which helped bring the USA into World War I, does not qualify as one of the all-time top 10 clashes at sea. Neither does the sinking of the Bismarck, which was key to establishing Allied naval superiority in World War II. What does make the list is a publicity stunt by a pathetic collection of pro-terrorist moonbats calling themselves the "Freedom Flotilla."

To give an idea of the level of progressive self-parody involved in the Freedom Flotilla, one of the ships was named after the martyred moonbat Rachel Corrie, who became Saint Pancake by standing in the way of an Israeli bulldozer whose driver had no way of seeing her as she agitated on behalf of Palestinian terrorists. So disreputable was the Freedom Flotilla, it even had links to Feisal Abdul Rauf, the jihadist imam behind the Ground Zero Mosque blasphemy. Obama's communist terrorist friends Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn were also involved, as was top Obama bundler Jodie Evans of Code Pink.

While violating a weapons blockade of the Gaza Strip, the maritime moonbats managed to goad Israeli security forces into killing nine of them. To call this one of the 10 greatest sea battles of all time is as absurd as the Flotsam Flotilla itself. Yet Time lists this at the very top, before Midway, before Trafalgar, before the defeat of the Spanish Armada. With the "mainstream" media, pushing a juvenile left-wing agenda always comes first.

Down goes the Bismarck; no big deal compared to the Flotsam Flotilla.

Elected Officials Know Less Than General Public About Constitution

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:41 AM

Alarmingly, elected officials have been found to know even less than the general public when it comes to our Constitution. According to a study by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute:

Elected officials at many levels of government, not just the federal government, swear an oath to "uphold and protect" the U.S. Constitution.
But those elected officials who took the test scored an average 5 percentage points lower than the national average (49 percent vs. 54 percent), with ordinary citizens outscoring these elected officials on each constitutional question. Examples:
• Only 49 percent of elected officials could name all three branches of government, compared with 50 percent of the general public.
• Only 46 percent knew that Congress, not the president, has the power to declare war — 54 percent of the general public knows that.
• Just 15 percent answered correctly that the phrase "wall of separation" appears in Thomas Jefferson's letters — not in the U.S. Constitution — compared with 19 percent of the general public.
• And only 57 percent of those who've held elective office know what the Electoral College does, while 66 percent of the public got that answer right. (Of elected officials, 20 percent thought the Electoral College was a school for "training those aspiring for higher political office.")

Freakazoid Get Out of Jail Free Card

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:09 AM

Here's how you can escape doing prison time in a world run by liberals:

A transsexual drug dealer has escaped a jail sentence after a judge ruled it would ruin his chances of completing a sex change.
Ian Morris, 41, who changed his name to Jean in 2009, is due to start Government-funded hormone treatment next week.
He was on trial after police intercepted nearly 2kg of the hallucinogenic drug ketamine which was sent to his flat.
Mr Morris's lawyers pleaded with Judge Mark Horton to spare him a jail term because of his sex change operation and asserted that he would find it "difficult" in a male prison.
The judge agreed and suspended Mr Morris's eleven month sentence at Bristol Crown Court.

The case isn't unique:

In July a transsexual who downloaded pornographic images of children was spared jail because the judge said prison would be an "appalling experience" for him.

Social engineering first, justice later. Moonbats are using their control of the courts, their bleeding heart sanctimony, and our money to turn the world into a freak show.

NPR Celebrates Jared Loughner's Ethnicity

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:36 PM

The cartoonishly moonbatty NPR confirms once again that for the self-styled liberal "elite," absolutely everything is all about race. Here "All Things Considered" provides a soapbox for a Hispanic leftist delighted with Jared Loughner's ethnicity:

"It's safe to say there was a collective sigh of brown relief when the Tucson killer turned out to be a gringo."

Imagine if the killer had a z on the end of his name, and a radio program brought on some white guy to crow, "I'm sure glad a spic did it!"

Death Threat Against Tucson Tea Party Leader at ABC Town Hall Event

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:24 PM

The moment Clarence Dupnik attempted to blame the Tucson Massacre on conservatives and denounced the people of his state, the tragic event began to turn into a carnival. Obama coming to Tucson to launch his reelection campaign from a pool of blood — amid raucous cheers, souvenir T-shirts, and boos for Republicans — turned it into a three-ring circus. Bring in the dreadful Christiane Amanpour to host a local town hall meeting, and you have something that makes Mardi Gras look somber and dignified.

A local ABC affiliate reports on the behavior of moonbat J. Eric Fuller, who was wounded by Loughner:

When Tucson Tea Party founder Trent Humphries rose to suggest that any conversation about gun control should be put off until after the funerals for all the victims, witnesses say Fuller became agitated. Two told KGUN9 News that finally, Fuller took a picture of Humphries, and said, "You're dead."
When State Rep. Terri Proud (R-Tucson) rose to explain and clarify current and proposed gun legislation in the state, several people groaned or booed her. One of those booing, according to several witnesses, was Fuller. Witnesses sitting near Fuller told KGUN9 News that Fuller was making them feel very uncomfortable.
The event wrapped up a short time later. Deputies then escorted Fuller from the room. As he was being led off, Fuller shouted loudly to the room at large. Several witnesses said that what they thought they heard him shout was, "You're all whores!"
A Pima County Sheriff's spokesman told KGUN9 News that they charged Fuller with one count of threats and intimidation, and said they plan to charge him with at least one count of disorderly conduct. Humphries told KGUN9 News that he does plan to press those charges.
The irony could not be more pointed, or painful. One of the issues discussed in the town hall meeting was the question of why no police or mental health professionals had ever intervened with Jared Lee Loughner, despite his increasingly bizarre behavior that had included disruptive outbursts.

Congratulations to ABC. People are finally going to watch the floundering Amanpour's This Week program. But good luck getting anyone to swallow the preposterous "mainstream" media narrative that this horrible story is about Sarah Palin and the Tea Party encouraging violence. Even ABC's own affiliates are starting to choke on the irony.

Liberal Conception of a Prayer Vigil

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:10 PM

Other liberals face a challenge if they are to top the hyperbolic demagoguery of Roy Wilson, Program Director of the Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Center. Here he is at a "prayer vigil" (i.e., political rally) exploiting the Tucson shootings that continue to have nothing whatsoever to do with anything said by any conservative:

"Tens of thousands of African-Americans have been lynched in a sea of rhetoric dripping with racist blood."

The location is Oakland, where it is notoriously easy to set blacks rioting.

The staggering hypocrisy of liberals spewing inflammatory rhetoric in the context of accusing their opponents of spewing inflammatory rhetoric is too enormous to escape the notice of anyone but the most moonbattery-addled progressive fool.

If pets can be called to jury duty, why shouldn't they vote?

Sal the cat recently received a summons to appear at Suffolk Superior Court [in Boston] on March 23.

In her application, Anna Esposito said that Sal "is unable to speak and understand English," one of 10 statutory qualifications for disqualification from service. …
The Espositos believe Sal may have been mistakenly listed after they named him on a recent U.S. census in a question about pet ownership.

No doubt pets helped pad the Census numbers in Dem-leaning parts of the country — i.e., slums — so as to strategically increase Congressional representation and federal spending. Counting illegal aliens might not have been enough to get the numbers where the White House wants them.

MSNBC Exonerates Jared Loughner

Jared Loughner almost certainly had never heard of Sarah Palin back in 2007 when he first developed the psychotic fixation on Gabrielle Giffords that climaxed in mass murder. He did not follow the news, and there is no evidence whatsoever that he was motivated in any way by any conservative. But that's not going to stop MSNBC from exploiting the tragedy.

Spinning the news is behind this astonishingly vile network. Now they invent it out of whole cloth. Check out the graphic they've been running with Tucson stories:

That is to say, the words of those who don't agree with MSNBC's depraved political agenda caused Loughner to act. This isn't lousy analysis or even wishful thinking. It is a bald-faced lie.

The lie is working on those who choose to drink the Kool-Aid:

Who else would be to blame? Sarah Palin of course. Evidence of any connection whatsoever is unnecessary. Like Bush 43 and Emmanuel Goldstein before her, Sarah Palin is responsible for all things bad.

Even among Americans at large, an alarming 32% have been duped into taking seriously the "mainstream" media's surreal presentation of the killings as caused by conservatives being allowed to express their views.

Speaking of fostering political violence, death threats against Palin are through the roof since MSNBC and the rest of the liberal media establishment launched their grotesque campaign to pin the Tucson Massacre on her.

EU Erases Christianity From Costly Diaries

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:36 AM

A major part of the EU's agenda is to erase European Civilization and replace it with a mostly Muslim hodgepodge imported from other parts of the world. Toward this end:

The European Union has sent millions of diaries to schools which list the dates of Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, Jewish and Chinese festivals — but omit any mention of Christian celebrations.
In an extraordinary move, three million 2011 notebooks were printed at a cost of £4.4million to the taxpayer. Around 350,000 of the diaries have already been shipped to schools in the UK alone.
There is no record for Christmas, Easter or Lent - despite bureaucrats carefully listing the EU's self-styled 'Europe Day' on May 9.

Not to worry, it was just a mistake.

EU officials have described the diaries as 'a rather gross error' but were at a loss to explain how it might have occurred.

The gross error is allowing the pernicious and antidemocrat European Union to crush national self-determination and grind the last of Europe's greatness under the heel of authoritarian liberalism.

Israel's Liberal Fifth Column Bankrolled by Terrorists

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:23 AM

The Soviet Union bankrolled communist fifth columnists in the USA, why shouldn't Islamic terrorists fund useful idiots in Israel?

An independent investigation by the grassroots student group Im Tirtzu revealed that Israeli leftist groups receive money from Arab pro-terror organizations, Ma'ariv reports. The study connects the dots between 13 Israeli leftist groups — including B'Tselem and the Center for Protection of the Individual ('Hamoked') — and a Ramallah-based fund called the National Development Center (NDC), which is closely linked to a fund called the Welfare Association (WA). The WA, in turn, receives some of its money from the Al Aqsa Fund, which also gives money to the relatives of "martyrs" who carried out suicide attacks against Israelis.
The NDC gave a total of about two million dollars to 13 Israeli groups in 2008-2009 alone, the new research reveals. The largest donations were to Hamoked, which received $450,000, and B'Tselem, which got $400,000. The NDC, founded 2006, is officially funded by the governments of Switzerland, Sweden, Holland and Denmark. However, its website also says that its assets, systems and team of founders came from the WA. NDC's headquarters are based in Ramallah, and its directors are all from the Palestinian Authority. Five of the 13 board members are also representatives and members of the WA in Ramallah, which receives money from the Islamic Investment Bank, Arab countries hostile to Israel and the Al Aqsa Fund.
Israel's Foreign Minister, Avigdor Liberman stirred a huge controversy when his party, Israel Beiteinu, last week introduced a motion in the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset, to investigate the funding of a number of Israeli human rights organizations that are suspected to participate in delegitimization campaigns against IDF soldiers. According Israel Beiteinu representative Fania Kirshenbaum, one of these organizations went into schools to convince the students that joining the IDF is unethical. Other members of Knesset said this motion is a "shame on the Knesset," a way to stifle opposition, and a danger to the Israeli democracy.

Funding transparency is a danger to democracy. Sounds like someone has plenty to hide.

Milking the Tragedy Part 6,492: John Kerry Wants to Spend More on Green Energy

Posted by Dave Blount at 3:04 PM

Let's see, how else can liberals demonstrate their utter shamelessness by exploiting the tragedy in Tucson? I know: by using it to push infrastructure spending and budget-busting "green energy" boondoggles.

Congresswoman 's Gabrielle Giffords' (D-Ariz.) shooting in Tucson, Ariz., last weekend has brought up several questions about the partisan nature of our current political climate. But today Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) said in a speech at the left-leaning policy think tank Center for American Progress that working in a bipartisan manner on infrastructure and clean energy could help overcome the "divisive political rhetoric" in the wake of the Tucson tragedy.
"In the weeks and months ahead, the real issue we need to confront isn't just what role divisive political rhetoric may have played on Saturday — but it's the violence divisive, overly simplistic dialogue does to our democracy every day," Kerry said.

The preferred way to confront simplistic dialogue is to plunge ever deeper into debt by throwing money we don't have at politically correct, pie in the sky green energy projects, rather than extracting the efficient energy from under our feet.

Twin Boys Butchered for Not Being Girls

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:57 AM

"Safe, legal, and rare," the moonbats bleat, reading off their bumper stickers. Yet this is where abortion leads:

This couple are so desperate for a baby girl that they terminated twin boys and are fighting to choose the sex of their next child.
The couple, who have three sons and still grieve for a daughter they lost soon after birth, are going to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal to win the right to select sex by IVF [in vitro fertilization] treatment. …
So determined are the couple to have a girl that they recently terminated twin boys conceived through IVF.

"Terminated" is mealy-mouthed liberalspeak for "murdered in the womb."

Modern science allows us to know ever more about children before they are born. Already we can kill them for being boys. Soon we may be able to kill them for their eye color, or for being left-handed, or for having a birthmark.

In a progressive utopia, everything that is not mandatory is forbidden, so there may come to be laws demanding that certain undesirable features mark babies for death. Obama's Science Czar John Holdren has already floated the idea of forced abortions.

Once you set off down an evil road, you can be sure to reach an evil destination.

Rep. Peter King Attempts to Exploit Tucson Shootings With Nonsensical Gun Restrictions

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:08 AM

Not all threats to our liberty come from Democrats. Rep. Peter King (R-NY) has distinguished himself for his strong stand against Islamic terrorism and his open contempt for the verminous New York Times. Yet he lines up behind leftist congresscritters like Carolyn McCarthy and Robert Brady to exploit the Tucson Massacre as yet another opportunity to chip away at what remains of our constitutional liberties.

The chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee wants to ban people from carrying weapons within 1,000 feet of federal officials at public events.
Rep. Pete King (R-N.Y.) said he would propose a bill in the coming weeks that would ban the carrying of guns within that range for the president, vice president, members of Congress and federal judges.
King made the announcement accompanied by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, an outspoken advocate for tighter gun restrictions.

Mayor-for-Life Bloomberg, a totalitarian who has been pushing to repeal the Second Amendment not just in his own fiefdom, but for the whole country, added this gem of Orwellian doublespeak:

"That does not take away the Second Amendment, I think it protects it."

2+2=5 if our oligarchical collectivist rulers say so.

This will come as a big surprise to statist bureaucrats like King and Bloomberg, but not all problems can be solved by imposing still more onerous coercive restrictions. Who could possibly think this law would have prevented the Jared Loughner shootings? Maniacs don't worry about the law against murder, why would they care about a petty regulation like this? Not only would King's moronic attempt to exploit the tragedy not prevent it from happening again, it would make it more likely to happen again, by guaranteeing that no law-abiding citizen will be in a position to shoot the shooter before more innocents are killed.

This isn't about public safety. It's about tightening government restrictions each time there's an opportunity, like a python squeezing the life from its prey.

Tucson Tea Party Leader Receiving Death Threats From Moonbats

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:42 AM

As Ann Coulter wisely advises, if you want to know what lefties are up to, just listen to what they accuse you of. Given the frenzy of righteous but unsubstantiated denunciations of patriots for allegedly fostering political violence, you had to know that death threats were brewing in the liberal fever swamps. Tucson Tea Party leader Trent Humphries was advised by Sheriff Fife's I mean Dupnik's office not to attend the big memorial extravaganza in his home town yesterday, despite having praised Comrade Obama in the aftermath of Jared Loughner's shooting spree, because of death threats from moonbats.

"We had people say, 'too bad it wasn't your family that was killed,'" Humphries told me. Other angry calls have come in as well. "'The blood of that little girl on your hands,'" Humphries recalled one message saying.
But it was a new call that came in this week that Humphries said had him staying out of public view for a while.
"It was something like 'we hate you and we're going to stand against you and we're going to use our First and Second Amendment rights to stop you,'" Humphries told me. …
Humphries was reluctant to talk about the threats he's received, saying he didn't want to come off as though he was trying to steal the spotlight from the grieving families. One of Humphries' neighbors was shot on Saturday, and he said the event has hit him very hard personally.

There is still zero evidence that a pothead schizophrenic with a left-wing background who didn't even follow the news was influenced by Tea Party politics. But libs have their marching orders from the "mainstream" media. If something bad happens, the Tea Party did it.

If only the Tea Party were making the threats instead of receiving them, reality would come into alignment with what the liberal media establishment wants us to believe.

Utterly innocent, but targeted by progs.

Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders Milks Tucson Massacre for Cash

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:50 AM

It's not enough for liberals to capitalize on the Tucson Massacre by attempting to dupe the gullible into thinking conservatives are somehow responsible. Never letting a crisis go to waste also means milking it for cold hard cash. Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders may call himself a socialist rather than a Democrat, but his voting record was less left-wing than Obama's, placing him in the liberal mainstream. His reaction to the tragedy was a fundraising letter:

Given the recent tragedy in Arizona, as well as the start of the new Congress, I wanted to take this opportunity to share a few words with political friends in Vermont and throughout the country. I also want to thank the very many supporters who have begun contributing online to my 2012 reelection campaign at There is no question but that the Republican Party, big money corporate interests and right-wing organizations will vigorously oppose me. Your financial support now and in the future is much appreciated.

Spoken like a true vulture. Be extra sure to send Sanders money if, like America's worst sheriff, you blame Arizona for the actions of an isolated madman. Sanders asks,

is Arizona a state in which people who are not Republicans are able to participate freely and fully in the democratic process?

Of course, not all of the blame for the massacre can be laid at the feet of Arizona. No doubt Sanders would agree with the New York Times and MSNBC that any number of ideological opponents of the Left have blood on their hands:

Further, and equally important, the right‐wing media echo chamber of Fox TV and talk radio (Rush Limbaugh, Glen Beck, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, etc.) are becoming increasingly effective in transmitting a reactionary world view to the tens of millions of Americans who watch or listen to them every day.

Once again we see that liberals are so unfamiliar with who Glenn Beck really is and what he stands for, they don't even know how to spell his name.

That Jared Loughner is not a conservative was established immediately. There is zero evidence that conservatives influenced his delusions or his behavior. But that's irrelevant for the self-styled "reality-based community," which uses its control of most of the media to fabricate its own community-based reality.

Democrats' repellent exploitation of the Paul Wellstone funeral was almost tasteful by comparison to their attempts to profit from an apolitical killing spree. If there are any decent people who haven't yet been driven out of this increasingly repugnant party, they'll be heading for the doors in 2012.

A Thank You Call to America's Worst Sheriff

The worst sheriff in America, Pima County's irresponsible leftist jackass Clarence Dupnik, has accomplished notable achievements in the past. For example, he assisted in the non-prosecution of fellow moonbats who threw pies at Ann Coulter when she tried to speak at the University of Arizona. When SB1070 passed with the overwhelming support of Arizona citizens alarmed by the inundation of the state by illegal aliens, this sheriff of a border county refused to enforce it.

But only after ignoring numerous warnings that Jared Loughner's psychosis would explode into violence and providing no security for Gabrielle Giffords's Congress on Your Corner event, then covering his incompetence by incongruously blaming the ensuing bloodbath on conservatives and taking the opportunity to denounce his own state as "the Mecca for prejudice and bigotry" has Dupnik achieved the ultimate liberal honor — a personal call from the Moonbat Messiah himself to thank him for a job well done.

Libs Flock to Facebook Page Calling for Death of Sarah Palin

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:25 AM

Surreal as it may be that the liberal media has tried to blame Sarah Palin for the Tucson shootings, that she generates a climate of hate cannot be denied. However, any hate she inspires is on the Left. The Facebook site "I hate it when I wake up and Sarah Palin is still alive" now has 2,200 likes. Here's an example of what you'll see if you wade into this cesspool:

Maybe this explains the absurd and incongruous attempts to blame conservatives for the apolitical shooting spree of a schizophrenic with a left-wing background; liberals are trying to inoculate themselves against the day their shrill calls for violence against Sarah Palin cause some James Jay Lee type to crawl out from under his rock and produce tangible results.

No matter how low your opinion of progressives, it always turns out to be too high.

Abortion Body Count Climbs

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:13 AM

Given the recent election of the most fanatically pro-abortion president in history, a rise in the rate of Americans killed by their own mothers should come as no surprise:

The Guttmacher Institute, which periodically surveys U.S. abortion providers, reported Tuesday that there were 1.21 million abortions in 2008 and a rate of 19.6 abortions per 1,000 women aged 15-44.
Both figures were up slightly from the previous 2005 survey, ending a steady decline since 1990, when U.S. abortions peaked at 1.6 million and the abortion rate was 27.4.

Although some liberals seem to regard abortion as a holy sacrament, it is no help to them demographically.

The new Guttmacher report documented sharp variations by state — with abortion rates over 30 percent in Delaware, New York and New Jersey [blue states] and at or below 6 percent in Wyoming, Mississippi, Kentucky, South Dakota and Idaho [red states]. …
The new report did not provide demographic details on the ages, ethnicity and socio-economic status of women obtaining abortions, but Sharon Camp said it was clear that African-American and Hispanic women continued to account for a disproportionate share of abortions because they had relatively high rates of unintended pregnancies.

Even if business is booming, don't look for Big Abortion to stop glutting itself on the mountains of taxpayer money shoveled at it by the government.

Not for the squeamish: an abortion filmed with ultrasound.

Media Campaign to Pin Tucson Shootings on Conservatives Flops

Despite the best efforts of major liberal propagandists (Paul Krugman, Keith Olbermann, Bill Maher, Geraldo Rivera, et al.), the bizarre but heavily promoted notion that conservatives' allegedly overheated rhetoric caused Jared Loughton's psychotic killing spree is falling on deaf ears. Even CBS admits that the unconscionable campaign to exploit the tragedy in Tucson has failed:

As the facts become better known, these numbers will not move in liars' favor.

First they crammed the global warming hoax down our throats, then they hyped an unqualified leftist into the White House while refusing to publicize his alarming background, now this. Boston's Snow Police Hit the Streets

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:10 PM

In liberal Massachusetts, two things are unavoidable — snow and Big Government:

In a city where there is too much snow and no place to put it, Sergeant Steven Tankle enforces the rules.
He fines the shovelers, the snowblower operators, and the private plow drivers who push unwanted snow into a freshly cleaned city street. And if you don't shovel your sidewalk, prepare to receive a ticket.
Tankle works for the Boston Code Enforcement Police, officers who troll the streets looking for violations of city ordinances. After blizzards, that means they look for illegal snow dumping and unshoveled walkways. Think of them as the snow police: They wear badges, carry handcuffs, and make meter maids seem popular. Run afoul of them and face a fine of up to $200.

As is so often the case when rules and regulations squeeze tight around our necks, pathologically greedy lawyers are in part to blame:

The intensified ticketing follows a recent Supreme Judicial Court decision that holds property owners accountable for injuries linked to snow and ice on their land.
Some legal specialists say that means City Hall bears responsibility for injuries that occur on those sidewalks, so the city has a financial and legal incentive to enforce its ordinances and avoid lawsuits.

Disgraced ambulance chaser John Edwards should consider moving north.

To avoid a fine, your Boston sidewalk must be shoveled so that there is a path no less that 42 inches wide. No, they're not kidding.

Next: regulations on how many times you must chew each bite of food before you can swallow, lest the slip and fall shyster crowd sue on behalf of choking victims.

Under Villaraigosa, Los Angeles City Hall Infested With Rats

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:00 AM

It was clear from the beginning that the election of militantly racist MEChA Reconquistador Antonio Villaraigosa as Mayor of Los Angeles would have unpleasant consequences, but who would have expected fate to be so heavy-handed with the symbolism? City Hall is getting overrun by rats:

While there is no shortage of theories seeking to explain the infestation — ranging from leftover food to budget cuts — city officials say it's the recent rainy weather that has brought out the rats.
The situation has reportedly deteriorated to the point that officials have purchased electronic devices known as "rat zappers" designed to trap and kill the rodents.

Normally I would say this is nothing the next election can't cure, but given the return of Governor Moonbeam, the situation for those Californians who haven't escaped the ruin liberals are making of their state looks bleak.

Hasan Versus Loughner: The New York Times Has Jumped the Shark

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:45 AM

No wonder the New York Times won't renounce the Pulitzer Prize won by Walter Duranty for whitewashing the Holodomor on behalf of communism. When it comes to suppressing the truth in support of America's enemies and telling lies to advance collectivist politics, Duranty's crimes against journalism would still fit nicely with the editorial policy of the supposed "paper of record."

When a Muslim radical killed 14 people at Fort Hood while screaming "Allah Akbar," the Slimes absurdly pretended that the motive wasn't obvious:

In the aftermath of this unforgivable attack, it will be important to avoid drawing prejudicial conclusions from the fact that Major Hasan is an American Muslim whose parents came from the Middle East.
President Obama was right when he told Americans, "we don't know all the answers yet" and cautioned everyone against "jumping to conclusions."
…until investigations are complete, no one can begin to imagine what could possibly have motivated this latest appalling rampage.

But when a psychotic maniac kills for no comprehensible reason, the shady Gray Lady is less circumspect. From the next day's editorial:

[I]t is legitimate to hold Republicans and particularly their most virulent supporters in the media responsible for the gale of anger that has produced the vast majority of these threats, setting the nation on edge.

Blood was still wet as the Times's vile Paul Krugman specifically blamed Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, Glenn Beck, and Bill O'Reilly for the tragedy in an almost comically shameless attempt to milk it for political advantage. Rather than recoil in disgust from Krugman's juvenile ravings, the Times republished them the next day.

Winter and his Easy Company went on to fight in the Battle of the Bulge, the last-ditch Nazi offensive in western France. He also took part in the liberation of the Dachau death camp and numerous other battles.

Parents Neutered on Passport Applications

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:12 AM

Our liberal ruling class has been institutionalizing bizarre, child-warping mutations of the traditional family. It shows up in little ways — like the politically incorrect concept of children having a mother and a father being expunged from passport applications.

"The words in the old form were 'mother' and 'father,'" said Brenda Sprague, deputy assistant Secretary of State for Passport Services. "They are now 'parent one' and 'parent two.'"
A statement on the State Department website noted: "These improvements are being made to provide a gender neutral description of a child's parents and in recognition of different types of families."

After all, the child might have been adopted as a sex slave by homosexuals. Or the kid might have two mommies, one of which is also the daddy. Or the parents might have switched genders.

Sprague helps explain:

"We find that with changes in medical science and reproductive technology that we are confronting situations now that we would not have anticipated 10 or 15 years ago," she said.

Naturally militant homosexuals are delighted.

"Changing the term mother and father to the more global term of parent allows many different types of families to be able to go and apply for a passport for their child without feeling like the government doesn't recognize their family," said Jennifer Chrisler, executive director of Family Equality Council.
Her organization lobbied the government for several years to remove the words from passport applications.

We can only guess what words she will lobby for her fellow travelers in Big Government to remove next.

Jared Loughner Mugshot: Unreachably Insane

The purpose of pointing out that liberal accusations of inflammatory rhetoric would apply more to liberals themselves than to the conservatives they attempt to blame for Jared Loughner's homicidal outburst, and that the few comprehensible political views Loughner holds tend to be left wing, is to defuse a particularly despicable propaganda assault by Democrats. It is not to say that liberalism is responsible for his killing spree. Take a look at Loughner's mugshot and see if you don't reach a diagnosis of insane beyond the reach of even moonbat politics:

Overheated Rhetoric? Try Frances Fox Piven

Posted by Dave Blount at 2:42 PM

There's no shortage of the "overheated rhetoric" liberals are blaming for Jared Loughner's psychosis, but contrary to the propaganda spewed by the New York Times, MSNBC, et al., the worst of it comes from their own camp — including from someone who had a major influence on Comrade Obama's economic policy:

She's considered by many as the grandmother of using the American welfare state to implement revolution. Make people dependent on the government, overload the government rolls, and once government services become unsustainable, the people will rise up, overthrow the oppressive capitalist system, and finally create income equality. Collapse the system and create a new one. That's the simplified version of Frances Fox Piven's philosophy originally put forth in the pages of The Nation in the 60s.
Now, as the new year ball drops, Piven is at it again, ringing in 2011 with renewed calls for revolution.
In a chilling and almost unbelievable editorial again in The Nation ("Mobilizing the Jobless," January 10/17, 2011 edition), she calls on the jobless to rise up in a violent show of solidarity and force. As before, those calls are dripping with language of class struggle. Language she and her late husband Richard Cloward made popular in the 60s.
"So where are the angry crowds, the demonstrations, sit-ins and unruly mobs?" she writes. "After all, the injustice is apparent. Working people are losing their homes and their pensions while robber-baron CEOs report renewed profits and windfall bonuses. Shouldn't the unemployed be on the march? Why aren't they demanding enhanced safety net protections and big initiatives to generate jobs?"
Those are the questions that frame what can best be called a roadmap for revolution. And it's not long before those questions give way to directions. The first instruction: get angry.
"[B]efore people can mobilize for collective action, they have to develop a proud and angry identity and a set of claims that go with that identity," she writes. "They have to go from being hurt and ashamed to being angry and indignant."
And along with anger must come a denunciation of personal responsibility. Instead, workers must realize that others have put them in their current, uneasy situation: "[T]he out-of-work have to stop blaming themselves for their hard times and turn their anger on the bosses, the bureaucrats or the politicians who are in fact responsible."
Only then, once their rage has been properly stoked, can the angry take action. And when they do, she says, the "protesters need targets."

Too bad no one ever let go with this kind of ranting onstage at a Tea Party. The liberal establishment media could just run video of it over and over again, without going to the trouble of coming up with lies and baseless innuendos.

Influential lib Frances Fox Piven gives a green light to violence.

Tucson Blogger: Sheriff Dupnik Could Have Stopped Loughner

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:19 PM

As mentioned earlier, the unseemly eagerness of Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik to find people other than Jared Loughner to blame for Loughner's evil act could be explained in part by his own culpability. Tucson blog The Cholla Jumps reports that Dupnik knew from the beginning to pronounce Loughner's name Lockner because he was already familiar with the killer:

Jared Loughner has been making death threats by phone to many people in Pima County including staff of Pima Community College, radio personalities and local bloggers. When Pima County Sheriff's Office was informed, his deputies assured the victims that he was being well managed by the mental health system. It was also suggested that further pressing of charges would be unnecessary and probably cause more problems than it solved as Jared Loughner has a family member that works for Pima County. [His mother] Amy Loughner is a Natural Resource specialist for the Pima County Parks and Recreation. …
Every victim of his threats previously must also be wondering if this tragedy could have been prevented if they had been more aggressive in pursuing charges against Mr. Loughner. Perhaps with a felony conviction he would never have been able to lawfully buy the Glock 9mm Model 19 that he used to strike down the lives of six people and decimate 14 more.
This was not an act of politics. This was an act of a mentally disturbed young man hell bent on getting his 15 minutes of infamy. The Pima County Sheriff's Department was aware of his violent nature and they failed to act appropriately. This tragedy leads right back to Sherriff Dupnik and all the spin in the world is not going to change that fact.

Don't hold your breath waiting for this report to be confirmed by the "mainstream" media, since it doesn't implicate Sarah Palin.

Nonsensical Attempt to Tie Loughner to Conservatives Is Deliberate Strategy

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:11 AM

To the extent Jared Loughner's psychotic views have any political coherence, they are decidedly left wing. Yet liberals have raised a deafening chorus attempting to blame conservatives for the incomprehensible horrors he inflicted. This may be a reflexive reaction by truly unhinged moonbats like Hanoi Jane Fonda and Clarence Dupnik, who can be counted on to blame their ideological opponents for any and all misfortunes. But for others, it is part of a deliberate political strategy.

Timothy McVeigh brought Bill Clinton's first term back from the dead and made the second possible. The goal is to transform Jared Loughner into Obama's Timothy McVeigh.

One veteran Democratic operative, who blames overheated rhetoric for the shooting, said President Barack Obama should carefully but forcefully do what his predecessor did.
"They need to deftly pin this on the tea partiers," said the Democrat. "Just like the Clinton White House deftly pinned the Oklahoma City bombing on the militia and anti-government people."

There being zero evidence of Loughner having anything whatsoever to do with Tea Party politics is an obstacle that progressives hope to overcome with a barrage of the very overheated rhetoric they so piously denounce.

With a few loony exceptions, liberal propagandists are perfectly aware that there is no reason to blame conservatives for Loughner. But they are also aware that most people don't follow the news closely, and are swayed by general impressions of the kind being deliberately created when the media implies over and over again that the Tea Party is somehow responsible.

In politics, perception is reality — even if that perception is based on lies.

Rep. Robert Brady Wants to Exploit Tucson Shootings to Restrict Political Speech

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:08 AM

If liberals have their way, the Second Amendment won't be the only constitutional casualty of the Tucson shootings; Democrats are also going after the First:

Rep. Robert Brady, D-Pennsylvania, said he will introduce legislation making it a federal crime for a person to use language or symbols that could be perceived as threatening or inciting violence against a Member of Congress or federal official.

This is why the absurd attempts by unscrupulous liberals to blame conservatives for the deranged act of a lunatic are such an alarming development. If people who only half pay attention to the news take them seriously, they could be used to generate acceptance of draconian restrictions on freedom of speech. "Language that could be perceived as threatening" could be stretched to cover any criticism of politicians.

Brady said it is now time to put an end to the hyper-charged language.

The difference between "hyper-charged language" and "political speech" won't be easy to define.

"The rhetoric is just ramped up so negatively, so high, that we have got to shut this down," Brady said, noting that "I've had my share of death threats" over his many years in politics.

So has most everyone in public life. If you can't stand the heat…

As for support for the bill, Brady said, "Why would you be against it?"

No doubt pointing out how shameful and terrifying it is that someone sworn to uphold the Constitution would ask this question qualifies as "hyper-charged language."

Authoritarians like Brady smell an opportunity.

Anti-Second Amendment Extremists Exploit Tucson Shootings

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:05 AM

Sadly, anti-Second Amendment crusaders didn't wait for the bodies to cool before cashing in on the tragedy in Tucson.

One of the fiercest gun-control advocates in Congress, Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.), pounced on the shooting massacre in Tucson Sunday, promising to introduce legislation as soon as Monday targeting the high-capacity ammunition the gunman used. …
Many said that people with a history of mental instability, like the alleged shooter, Jared Lee Loughner, should not be able to buy a gun — and no one should be able to buy stockpiles of ammunition used by the 22-year-old assailant.

This is called passing from the acceptable to the dubious. Keeping guns away from violent lunatics is a great idea, so long as it can be done without trampling on the rights of the rest of us. Preventing normal Americans from storing ammunition is pure and simple tyranny. Only with the public whipped up in a highly emotional state would extremists stand the slightest chance of pushing through such an outrage, which is why McCarthy is acting so fast.

Regrettably she isn't the only opportunist:

Another vocal supporter for gun control, Illinois Rep. Mike Quigley, told POLITICO that he hopes "something good" can come from the Arizona tragedy — perhaps discussion on a new assault weapon ban, sales at gun shows and tracing measures.

As always, the New York Times is providing propaganda support for statist authoritarians. An excruciatingly moronic editorial by Gail Collins begins like this:

In 2009, Gabrielle Giffords was holding a "Congress on Your Corner" meeting at a Safeway supermarket in her district when a protester, who was waving a sign that said "Don't Tread on Me," waved a little too strenuously. The pistol he was carrying under his armpit fell out of his holster.
"It bounced. That concerned me," Rudy Ruiz, the father of one of Giffords's college interns at the time, told me then. He had been at the event and had gotten a larger vision than he had anticipated of what a career in politics entailed. "I just thought, 'What would happen if it had gone off? Could my daughter have gotten hurt?' "

This is like fretting that a truck might accidently start driving by itself and run someone over. You can drop a Glock all day; it won't go off until you pull the trigger. But all a NY Slimes columnist knows about firearms is that lawful citizens shouldn't have them. The unsubtle attempt to associate Loughner with the Tea Party despite any evidence or likelihood of a connection is contemptible, but to be expected from the erstwhile "Paper of Record."

Collins goes on to accuse the NRA of being motivated by capitalism. What more can you expect of this sad Marxist remnant of a newspaper?

The tragic events in Tucson Saturday were yet another opportunity for her to vent her hatred of patriots. Here's what she's been spewing on Twitter:

That she can't even spell Beck's first name is an indication of the general cluelessness of a Hollyweird liberal elitist, but also confirmation that she is not familiar with his show, his books, or probably even his message. He's a conservative, therefore if something bad happened, he did it.

Jared Loughner Was Known by Authorities to Be a Dangerous Lunatic

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:25 PM

No wonder Pima County's moonbat sheriff is so eager to point fingers of blame for a schizophrenic's violence. Jared Loughner was known to be deranged and potentially dangerous. From a statement released by Pima Community College:

Loughner was a PCC student from Summer 2005 through Fall 2010, when he was suspended for Code of Conduct violations. … From February to September 2010, Loughner had five contacts with PCC police for classroom and library disruptions at Northwest and West campuses. … Working with legal counsel, College administration issued a letter of immediate suspension on September 29, 2010. That evening, two police officers delivered the letter of suspension to the student at his and his parents' residence and spoke with the student and his parents. …
Loughner and his parents met Northwest Campus administrators October 4, 2010. During this meeting Loughner indicated he would withdraw from the College. A follow-up letter was sent to him October 7, 2010 indicating that if he intends to return to the College, he must resolve his Code of Conduct violations and obtain a mental health clearance indicating, in the opinion of a mental health professional, his presence at the College does not present a danger to himself or others.

Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik Denounces Arizona

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:53 AM

If there could possibly be a silver lining to yesterday's tragedy in Tucson, it's that Pima County's radical moonbat Sheriff Clarence Dupnik has exposed himself as an irresponsible jackass to such an extreme that it's hard to imagine even liberals reelecting him. And, unfortunately, Arizona I believe has become sort of the capital. We have become the Mecca for prejudice and bigotry."

If Raul Grijalva could get reelected after calling for a boycott of his own state, maybe Dupnik will manage it after accusing Arizona of fostering Loughner's psychosis by being the Mecca of Prejudice and Bigotry. Posted by Dave Blount at 4:04 PM

It didn't take long for Jared Loughner's motive in shooting Gabrielle Giffords to come to light: he is completely out of his mind.

Media moonbats have their work cut out for them when they inevitably try to portray Loughner as a Tea Party patriot. Rubber room psychosis has nothing to do with any coherent political ideology.

Via Unsettled Christianity, here's an example of what Loughner had been posting on YouTube:

Politically, this tragedy is no more meaningful than a car accident. But that won't prevent it from being used for political ends.

Gabrielle Giffords Shot

Posted by Dave Blount at 1:56 PM

There aren't many details yet, but whatever they turn out to be, they will be spun hard, and not in favor of liberty. From the WSJ's early report on Dem Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) being shot in the head in Tucson:

Tea Party Nation, the group started by Tennessee lawyer Judson Phillips, put out a statement to its supporters decrying the shooting. "Congressman Giffords was a liberal, but that does not matter now. No one should be the victim of violence because of their political beliefs."
The statement went on to say that "no matter what the shooter's motivations where, the left is going to blame this on the Tea Party Movement."

Giffords was recruited to run for Congress by Rahm Emmanuel, who famously said, "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste." Keep your eyes open; this will be exploited.

How Moonbats Spread Christmas Cheer in Winnipeg

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:50 PM

For moonbats, there's more to celebrating Christmas than sending out Christmas cards that don't say Christmas on them. Some pay their respects to the reason for the season with activities like this:

The Christian-based Centre for Youth Excellence in Winnipeg's downtown area, along with St. Margaret's Anglican Church and nearby Tall Grass Bakery, were plastered with pro-abortion and anti-Christian posters during the Christmas season.
The posters, which appear to depict Mary on a donkey being led by Joseph to a building with the words "Women's Health Care Services" on the outside, state: "We wish you a pro-choice because God raped Mary Christmas" and are signed "Youth Against Christ."
The posters appear to have been professionally designed and printed according to reports.
The Centre for Youth Excellence is a $13.2-million project of Youth For Christ that is under construction in what has been described as "one of downtown's dreariest corners, at Main Street and Higgins Avenue." It is intended to provide a recreation center for inner-city youth.

Why did the moonbats also target a bakery? They probably knew that it's owned by Christians.

Needless to say, if something like this ever happened to Muslims, it would constitute a hate crime — and receive front page coverage well into the new year.

Dede Scozzafava Collects Her 30 Pieces of Silver

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:08 AM

Remember Dede Scozzafava, the left-wing extremist who bizarrely tried to run as a Republican in a relatively conservative upstate New York district? Still more bizarrely, the Republican establishment backed her to the hilt, pouring money into her campaign and denigrating her Tea Party opponent Doug Hoffman. Pelosi couchmate Newt Gingrich was particularly outspoken in her defense. Then she dropped out of the race three days before the election and unsurprisingly endorsed the Democrat against Hoffman, very possibly costing the good guys a seat.

Now she's been rewarded with an appointment by New York's creepy new moonbat governor Andrew Cuomo to be deputy secretary for local government at the state Department of State.

As recently as late December, Scozzafava was still declaring herself to be a Republican. But then, last I knew even Colin Powell called himself a Republican. If you were a liberal Democrat, would you want to admit it?

Thank you Dede, for ramming home the lesson: no RINO should be trusted, supported, or funded by conservatives, ever.

Paul Ryan Promises to Eat His Tie if ObamaCare Reduces Deficit

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:18 AM

Of all the insolent falsehoods we've been fed by oligarchical collectivists lately, the most insulting to our intelligence may be the whopper that government seizure of the healthcare industry will, instead of adding even more massively to the deficit than other entitlement programs, magically reduce it. Fortunately there is at least one countermoonbat in Congress willing to call a lie a lie. On the Mark Levin Show, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) addresses the phony numbers pushed through the Congressional Budget Office:

"Whatever you put in CBO — in front of them — they have to score what you put in front of them. They put this health care, we put the health care bill in front of them; the health care bill is full of gimmicks and spending tricks. Ten years of tax increases to pay for six years of spending, for starters. They double-count revenue for Social Security. They double-count revenue for this new CLASS Act program. They double-count Medicare cuts. They ignore the 'doc fix.' They did not include the $115 billion in spending that would be required just to set the bureaucracy up to run this new program.
"If you take out all the double-counting — if you add the counting they didn't count — it adds a $701 billion deficit. So, what CBO cannot do is tell you 'we're not going to count the budget gimmicks that are in this legislation.' They just have to estimate the bill as it's written, with all the gimmicks included. So, people around here know how to write legislation to manipulate the kind of cost estimate you're gonna get from the Congressional Budget Office. I sent a letter to the CBO, I asked them 'Well, now look at these budget gimmicks, ignore these budget gimmicks. What then?' And it's what I just told you, this thing is a huge budget-buster. So, what they have is a piece of paper that they've manipulated to say this thing reduces the deficit.
"I will eat my tie if that is the outcome of this law."

As Chairman of the House Budget Committee, Ryan could be in a position to prevent ObamaCare from destroying our economy by killing it before it becomes entrenched — provided other Republicans stand firm beside him, as they will only do if we hold them accountable.

When the ACLU Defends Right to Bear Arms

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:44 AM

Surprisingly, the ACLU actually supports the constitutional right to bear arms — for noncitizens:

The ACLU of South Dakota filed the lawsuit this week on behalf of U.K. citizen Wayne Smith alleging the state's concealed weapons law is unconstitutional. Smith — who legally immigrated 30 years ago — was able to get a concealed license for years, but in 2002 South Dakota amended the law, making U.S. citizenship a requirement to carry a concealed weapon. When Smith went to renew his long-held permit last July, he was denied because he is permanent legal resident, not a citizen.
The ACLU says that's a blatant violation of the 14th Amendment which it says prevents states from being able to make such "arbitrary designations."

If the ACLU gave a hoot about the 2nd Amendment, they would be doing something about the onerous restrictions on gun-owning American citizens in liberal states like California. As always the purpose is to twist the Constitution into a weapon to be used against us — in this case by taking a step toward arming the armies of colonists pouring over the border the ACLU helps prevent from being defended.

Paul Mason, Socialism Incarnate

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:11 AM

The nice thing about socialism is that no individual is responsible for his own behavior. That means that if you screw yourself up, it's society's fault — and you can sue taxpayers:

A man who once weighed nearly 70 stone [980 pounds] is to launch legal action against the NHS [Britain's socialized medicine monolith], claiming they failed to help him as his size soared.
Former postman Paul Mason received life-saving gastric surgery last year [after] binge-eating his way to gargantuan size.
But the 50-year-old, who now weighs in at a comparatively small 37 [518 pounds] stone, said he should have been helped years ago.
Mr Mason, who was eating 20,000 calories a day at his heaviest, claims he sought help from his GP after ballooning to 30 stone [420 pounds].
Instead of receiving a treatment programme to manage his weight, he has complained he was told in 1996: 'Ride your bike more'.
He also says he was sent to a dietician, rather than the eating disorders specialist he had asked to see, after his weight hit 64 stone [896 pounds].

The poor victim. If only Big Government had chewed his food for him, he would have been fine. But Mason doesn't think of himself; he's only looting the treasury for the public good.

'I want to set a precedent so no one else has to get to the same size — and to put something back into society,' Mr Mason told The Sun.

That is, by robbing it. But he promises to do good works for overeaters with the money.

Mason's appetite has already cost taxpayers a pretty penny:

Mr Mason's care bill costs taxpayers an estimated £100,000 [$154,610] a year and is believed to have topped £1million [$1,546,100] over the last 15 years.

Meanwhile, legitimate medical needs go unmet. But in a world run by moonbats, you could hardly expect anyone to take responsibility for what they put in their own mouths. That's everybody else's job.

Under socialism, leeches get fat enough to burst.

Big Government Pays Google to Direct Searches to Pro-ObamaCare Propaganda

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:51 PM

If you type "ObamaCare" into Google, the first link that comes up is to, a government site extolling government control of the healthcare sector paid for with government money — that is, your money. Also paid for with your money was the link itself.

Politico's Ben Smith, in a post entitled "HHS Buys 'ObamaCare,'" quotes an official from Secretary Kathleen Sebelius's Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), who confirms that this clear attempt to influence what Americans read about Obamacare does, indeed, represent your tax dollars at work: "'We are using a bunch of search term[s] to help point people to [It's] [p]art of our online efforts to help get accurate information to people about the new law (i.e. [we] also use Facebook, Twitter, blogs and webcasts),' an HHS official confirmed by e-mail."
The "accurate information" that Americans will glean about the massive health care overhaul from this HHS website is of the same sort that President Obama has supplied all along — such as that Obamacare would lower health costs (only 17 percent of Americans believe this), increase the quality of care (only 22 percent believe this), and reduce deficits (only 17 percent believe this).
You won't find anything on the HHS site about how the Medicare chief actuary projects that Obamacare would bend the cost curve upward by $311 billion by 2019 in relation to costs in the absence of Obamacare; about how the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) says that, by 2016, in the non-group market, the average American family's health care premiums under Obamacare would increase by $2,100 per year in relation to what those premiums would be without Obamacare; about how the CBO projects that Obamacare would cost over $2 trillion in its real first decade (2014 to 2023) alone; or about how the administration's internal ("midrange") estimates are that more than half of all employer-provided health plans wouldn't be grandfathered in under Obamacare — and that, therefore, if you like your health care, that doesn't necessarily mean you'll get to keep your health care.
For that sort of information, you'll have to consult sites that — because they don't use taxpayer dollars to pay Google to list them first — appear somewhat lower in the pecking order.

The vicious circle turns and turns: the bigger government gets, the more of your money it has to promote its own growth.

A Tale of Two Congressmen: Peter King and Keith Ellison

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:54 AM

Countermoonbat Congressman Peter King (R-NY) has received the ultimate recommendation in the form of a denunciation by the Islamophiles of the New York Times, a publication that characteristically stands with Historic First Muslim Congresscritter Keith Ellison against anyone with the backbone to face the Islamic enemy within. If the militant moonbats at the Slimes thought they could intimidate the incoming Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee into backing off, they misjudged him:

"I'm absolutely delighted that The New York Times would attack me," he said in an interview with The Hill. "I have nothing but contempt for them. They should be indicted under the Espionage Act." …
King's proposal to hold one of his first hearings on the radicalization of U.S. Muslims and homegrown terrorism has brought a rash of criticism from those who argue it could turn into a McCarthy-esque witch hunt, fueling distrust among Muslim citizens of the government.

Whatever would we do if through insufficient obsequiousness we lost the trust of Muslims? Fortunately not everyone is drinking the Muslim/moonbat alliance Kool-Aid:

Former Democratic New York Mayor Ed Koch disseminated a commentary piece Tuesday wholeheartedly backing King and his hearing, calling it a "sensible act on his part that should be supported by the American public."
There is plenty of proof, King says, that the U.S. Muslim community has had a spotty record in cooperating with federal authorities on terrorism investigations. For instance, he said, when FBI agents asked parents of 15- or 16-year-old Muslims to cooperate with an investigation into whether Islamic extremists were trying to recruit their children, one imam instructed the parents not to. In another instance, King said a different imam warned the parents of a man who admitted to plotting to bomb New York subways about the investigation.
"This is a politically correct hysteria," King said. "These are very legitimate hearings."
King has a longstanding contempt for The New York Times, so his aggressive response comes as no surprise. When he said the newspaper should be tried for espionage, he was referring to an article it published a few years ago about the government's secret tracking of terrorist financing that relied on cooperation with U.S. and international banks. He said the policy was perfectly legal and effective at the time, but the Times article undercut the program because international banks became less cooperative.

As for the recent ankle-biting by the treasonous Slimes, King says:

"I'm certainly not going to take any political advice or direction from The New York Times. I have more contempt for The New York Times than anything or anyone I can think of."

Bare Naked Islam explains why Ellison and his allies might worry about a "McCarthy-esque witch hunt":

Ellison was an official of the National Lawyers Guild (NLG), cited as a Communist Party front organization by the House Committee on Un-American Activities. It remains the U.S. affiliate of the International Association of Democratic Lawyers, the old Soviet front. In that capacity, Ellison had been a vocal supporter — and attended a fundraiser for — Sara Jane Olson, a member of the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA), an off-shoot of the Weather Underground that is probably best known for kidnapping Patricia Hearst.
Olson served seven years in prison for involvement in the murder of a bank customer and the attempted murder of Los Angeles police officers by bombing their cars. …
An Ellison speech on behalf of Olson, in which he called the terrorist a freedom fighter, has been eliminated from most websites, including one devoted to her legal defense, but a Minneapolis blogger who followed the case saved and posted it. One notices the lavish praise that Ellison bestows not only on Olson, also known as Katherine Soliah, but [on] Bernardine Dohrn, the former leader of the communist terrorist Weather Underground.

Bernardine Dohrn — who invented the "fork salute" in honor of the implement left sticking out of Leno LaBianca's throat in the aftermath of a visit from the Charles Manson crew — may be known to readers as an old friend of Comrade Obama and, possibly going even further back, the Bitter Half.

Ellison also praised cop-killers Mumia Abu-Jamal, on death row in Pennsylvania, and Joanne Chesimard (aka Assata Shakur), who escaped the U.S. and is now living under the protection of the Castro dictatorship.

You won't learn all this from reading the New York Times, which can barely bring itself to acknowledge Ellison's association with rabid Caucasian-hater (and winner of a lifetime achievement award from Obama's church of 20 years) Louis Farrakhan. The Hamas-supporting radical leftist Ellison is the Muslim/moonbat alliance incarnate. There is nothing the liberal establishment's flagship publication wouldn't do to help him in his effort to bring down America from within.

Guess whose side liberal soapbox MSNBC is on.

Dem Rep. Jerrold Nadler Sneers at Republican Reverence for Constitution

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:38 AM

Just because the public has thrown them out of the leadership position is no reason for House Democrats to begin showing respect for the Constitution they are sworn to uphold, yet seem to despise. From their friends at the Washington Compost:

For more than 200 years, Americans have revered the Constitution as the law of the land, but the GOP and tea party heralding of the document in recent months — and the planned recitation on the House floor Thursday — have caused some Democrats to worry that the charter is being misconstrued as the immutable word of God.
"They are reading it like a sacred text," said Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), the outgoing chairman of the House Judiciary subcommittee on the Constitution, civil rights and civil liberties, who has studied and memorized the Constitution with talmudic intensity.
Nadler called the "ritualistic reading" on the floor "total nonsense" and "propaganda" intended to claim the document for Republicans. "You read the Torah, you read the Bible, you build a worship service around it," said Nadler, who argued that the Founders were not "demigods" and that the document's need for amendments to abolish slavery and other injustices showed it was "highly imperfect."

No doubt WaPo's adolescent sage Ezra Klein agrees with Nadler's characterization of the Constitution as "a long, dry, boring document." Fortunately, others still understand why it should be treated with reverence:

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), a frequent exalter of the Constitution, said Thursday's reading is a logical reaction to a campaign that was explicitly run on its principles. She said she believes the Constitution is a guide to paring down expansive government powers. "The words of the Constitution mean what they say they mean," she said. She described the Constitution as "the organic, original document" that "gives life to a nation."

When we submit to being ruled by a government that doesn't take the Constitution seriously, America is over.

Nadler is fed up with all this Constitution stuff.

Snow Replaced by Garbage as Bloomberg Continues to Flounder

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:07 AM

Michael Bloomberg — the mayor so ambitious that he dictates diet to his subjects and has attempted to squash Second Amendment liberties throughout the country — continues to prove himself incapable of attending to the basic functions of municipal government. The snow he couldn't deal with has melted away; now the problem is trash:

On block after block, residents look at hundreds of trash bags at a time, piled high and stretching for yards.
"It's really bad. All the rats come out, big, giant rats here at night," Domingo Colon said. "You could see them running all over the place."
Several Williamsburg residents said they're holding Mayor Michael Bloomberg accountable.
"Look at this, all the garbage everywhere," one resident said. "He's not doing anything for us, nothing at all."

That's the thanks New York's Mayor for Life gets for saving millions from the menaces of salt and trans fats.

In Manhattan, the stinking piled-up garbage reaches nearly seven feet high. But maybe given enough time, the rats will eat it.

Moonbat Family

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:03 AM

This grotesque mockery of a family provides a useful model for liberal social engineers of the type now running our military:

Dominik was a woman, Andrea was a man, and now after switching their genders they are a couple watching the son Dominik gave birth to, turn into a woman.
Fifteen years ago, Ilona Tomeckova, a woman living in eastern Czech Republic, left her husband and young son to move to Prague and become Dominik Sejda, a man, Czech Television said in a report on its website Tuesday.
After becoming a man, Dominik found it hard to find a partner for years, but two years ago he [sic] met Andrea Kajzarova, another transsexual who, before a sex change, was a man named Tomas Kajzar, a bodybuilder.

Dominick says she personally knows three other couples in similar relationships in the Czech Republic.

After meeting Andrea, Dominik decided to resume contacts with his [sic] former family, only to learn in awe that his [sic] son Radim was in the process of turning into a girl named Viktoria.
"I found a sexologist in May, she sent me to different checks, including genetics. My diagnosis was always 'transsexual'," said Radim, whose biological mother Dominik now insists on calling her son "Viki."

The good news is that a giant meteor might put an end to all this before it goes any further. In the meantime we have the makings of yet another reality show.

The Democrats in charge don't want to win the war in Afghanistan, but they don't want the blame for losing it either, so on it grinds senselessly, with troops' hands tied by surreal rules of engagement. That doesn't make the sacrifice any less heroic for those who don't come home. But honoring war heroes isn't a high priority for modern Dems.

After Sgt. Sean Collins of Yelm, Washington died in Afghanistan last month, his family received a condolence letter from Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) that referred to Sean as "Bryn." Apparently, no one bothered to update the form letter. Then his father, Lt. Col. Patrick Collins (Ret.) called the White House, requesting that our Commander in Chief take a few minutes to call Sean's mother.

He was told that Obama did not regularly make phone calls to the families of fallen soldiers.

Ninth Circus Condemns San Diego's Mount Soledad Cross

Posted by Dave Blount at 1:04 PM

The perversion of our Constitution by left-wing judicial activists continues:

A war memorial cross in a San Diego public park is unconstitutional because it conveys a message of government endorsement of religion, a federal appeals court ruled Tuesday in a two decade old case.
A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals issued the unanimous decision in the dispute over the 29-foot cross, which was dedicated in 1954 in honor of Korean War veterans. …
Gina Coburn, spokeswoman for the San Diego's city attorney's office, which was once a defendant in the case, said the cross will have to be removed from Mt. Soledad unless the federal government appeals and sends it back to a full panel of Ninth Circuit judges or the Supreme Court agrees to rule on it.

As usual, our black-robed moonbat overlords impose their decree in stark opposition to the will of the people:

City officials have argued that the cross is part of a secular war memorial, and the cross has been embraced by San Diego residents who in 2005 overwhelmingly approved a measure to preserve it by donating it to the federal government. A judge declared the measure unconstitutional.

The ACLU and its fellow travelers have hit three birds with one stone. They get to suppress Christianity while simultaneously dishonoring American troops who died abroad defending the freedoms that now face their greatest threat here at home. The third bird is our precious Constitution, which they continue to twist into meaninglessness.

The clause of the First Amendment used to justify this outrage reads as follows:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…

To deliberately misinterpret a clause intended to protect freedom of religion as a license to suppress any reflection of our Christian heritage on public property isn't merely absurd — it's willfully perverse.

George Monbiot Decries Spacious Housing

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:28 AM

It could be that even George Monbiot is ready to give up on the thoroughly exposed global warming hoax, because he is searching hungrily for a new crisis to exploit — like Big Government's failure to prevent us from having too much space:

The issue is surplus housing — the remarkable growth of space that people don't need. Between 2003 and 2008 (the latest available figures), there was a 45% increase in the number of under-occupied homes in England. The definition of under-occupied varies, but it usually means that households have at least two bedrooms more than they require. This category now accounts for over half the homes in which single people live, and almost a quarter of those used by larger households.

What could have caused such a crisis? Moonbat finds

just one likely explanation: money. My guess, though I can find no research or figures either to support or disprove it, is that the richest third of the population has discovered that it can spread its wings. A report by the International Longevity Centre comes to the same conclusion: "Wealth … is the key factor in whether or not we choose to occupy more housing space than is essential."

If wealth is the problem, the solution must be socialism.

While most houses are privately owned, the total housing stock is a common resource. Either we ensure that it is used wisely and fairly, or we allow its distribution to become the starkest expression of inequality.

Moonbat is enraged that even Britain's bloated progressive government should "let the rich occupy as much space they wish." Like most neocommies, he justifies his hatred of economic success with environmentalist rhetoric:

I suggest a new concept: housing footprints. Your housing footprint is the number of bedrooms divided by the number of people in the household. Like ecological footprints, it reminds us that the resource is finite, and that, if some people take more than they need, others are left with less than they need.

You might argue that housing is not a finite resource, because we can always build more of it — but only if Big Government lets us, which it wouldn't were it up to Moonbat. Housing oppresses the environment.

Like all crises invented by liberals, it boils down to coercion for the sake of coercion.

Those who use more than their fair share should pay for the privilege, with a big tax penalty for under-occupation. If it prompts them either to take in a lodger or to move into a smaller home in a lower tax band, so much the better.

Even the authoritarian collectivists at The Guardian seem to have realized that they should be more subtle about their power lust unless they want to scare people into putting up resistance. The subheading of the article now reads:

The hidden truth about our housing crisis is that it is driven by under-occupation.

The original:

Those who insist on under-occupying their homes should be forced to pay for the privilege, or take in a charity lodger.

Because big houses cost more than small houses, they already have paid for the supposed "privilege" of living in a house of the size they can afford. When Moonbat sputters about making them pay, he's expressing a sadistic urge to punish them for not being sufficiently unsuccessful.

After punitive taxes and government-imposed lodgers fail to achieve total equality, the next step will be the abolition of private housing, which is a short jump from Moonbat's assertion that "the total housing stock is a common resource."

Ever been to a government housing project? If so, congratulations on making it out alive. You've seen everyone's future if progressives have their way.

Goodbye and Good Riddance, Speaker Pelosi

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:19 AM

Nancy Pelosi finished her disastrous stint as Speaker of the House with the same eerie disconnect from reality that she has made her trademark.

Speaker Pelosi was asked, "Do you have regrets that you didn't use the 2 years that you had total Democratic control of government to focus more on jobs and especially the debt which we did not hear much at all from you?"
Pelosi, speaking on her last day as Speaker of the House, said, "No, we have no regrets. … Deficit reduction has been a high priority for us, it is our mantra; pay as you go."

Meanwhile, back in reality:

According to official debt figures published by the U.S. Treasury, the Democrat controlled 111th Congress added $3.22 trillion ($3,220,103,625,307.29) to the national debt — more than the new debt accumulated by the first 100 Congresses combined.
The 110th Congress added the second largest amount to the national debt — $1.957 trillion…

That's over $5 trillion in Nasty Pelousy's catastrophic 4 years as Speaker.

One day historians trying to make sense of America's self-inflicted demise will wish they could go back in time to unlock the mystery of why malignant kooks like Pelosi and Obama were allowed to destroy the economy with obviously unsustainable debt. But the only answer we would be able to give them is "because of moonbattery."

Early Ties Between the ACLU and Soviet Communism

Posted by Dave Blount at 9:20 AM

Beneath the feel-good rhetoric about civil liberties, the ACLU has been an authoritarian organization from the beginning. More information has been coming to light about its early ties to Stalin's Soviet slave state:

Noted author Paul Kengor has unearthed declassified letters and other documents in the Soviet Comintern archives linking early leaders of the ACLU with the Communist Party.
Kengor found a May 23, 1931 letter in the archives signed by ACLU founder Roger Baldwin, written on ACLU stationery, to then American Communist Party Chairman William Z. Foster asking him to help ACLU Chairman Harry Ward with his then-upcoming trip to Stalin's Russia.
The letter suggests Ward intended to visit the Soviet Union to find "evidence from Soviet Russia" that would undermine the capitalist profit motive.
Baldwin wrote the letter at a time when Stalin was deporting 1.8 million Ukrainian peasants to Siberia under his policy of the forced collectivization of agriculture, which resulted in the deaths of up to 10 million Ukrainians in the two years that followed.

Baldwin went to the right guy. The American Communist Party was under the direct control of the Soviet Union, a country prepared to vaporize us with nuclear weapons, until 1989.

Although Baldwin eventually backed away from communism, as the horrors it makes inevitable became evident, he was quite the Red in the 20s and 30s:

Baldwin's radicalism caught the eye of the FBI, which quoted him in a 1924 report as having said: "The right to advocate a violent revolution, assassination, and proletarian Red guard, are all clearly within scope of free speech …"
The ACLU founder traveled to Stalin's Russia in 1927 and wrote a book titled "Liberty Under The Soviets" the following year, which defended Lenin's and Stalin's repression of dissent because they "are weapons in the transition to socialism."

Just as in 1984, leftists name everything the opposite of what it really is. Its very name makes clear that the American Civil Liberties Union was founded to be not just anti-American, but anti-civil liberties.

Mark Twain's Great Works Rewritten to Conform to Political Correctness

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:50 AM

Inevitably, the squishy soft form of totalitarianism known as political correctness has reached the point that great works of literature are being rewritten to conform to current ideological orthodoxy:

Mark Twain wrote that "the difference between the almost right word and the right word is really a large matter." A new edition of "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" and "Tom Sawyer" will try to find out if that holds true by replacing the N-word with "slave" in an effort not to offend readers.
Twain scholar Alan Gribben, who is working with NewSouth Books in Alabama to publish a combined volume of the books, said the N-word appears 219 times in "Huck Finn" and four times in "Tom Sawyer."

Under liberalism, watering down Twain's masterpiece into lukewarm mush may be the only way to get it back into schools.

Published in the U.S. in 1885, "Huck Finn" is the fourth most banned book in schools, according to "Banned in the U.S.A." by Herbert N. Foerstal, a retired college librarian who has written several books on First Amendment issues.

Despite failing to conform to contemporary thought codes, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a key part of our culture. Here's what Ernest Hemingway had to say about it:

"All modern American literature comes from one book by Mark Twain called 'Huckleberry Finn.' … All American writing comes from that. There was nothing before. There has been nothing as good since."

Better our bleeding heart overlords should ban the book outright than twist it into something else. At least then we could memorize it, like the characters do in Fahrenheit 451. But it's not enough for progressives to suppress our civilization; they want to erase it by replacing it.

Exsecting the blasphemous "N-word" will be only the beginning, as has already been confirmed.

In addition to replacing the N-word, Gribben changes the villain in "Tom Sawyer" from "Injun Joe" to "Indian Joe" and "half-breed" becomes "half-blood."

Maybe next the genders of Petruchio and Katherina will be reversed in Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew lest anyone find it sexist. Then characters will be changed throughout literature to meet race and "sexual orientation" quotas, making the works more "inclusive." After that, the authorities might rewrite great books so that the "historically disadvantaged" find them easier to read.

Encouragingly, even the moonbats at NPR are appalled. A poll currently finds that 96% are opposed to imposing 1984-style political revisions on Twain's great work.

Dim Bulbs at IKEA Jump the Gun on Government Ban

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:11 AM

Unless you want your house designated a hazardous waste site when a flickering curly-cue eco-bulb inevitably breaks and spills its toxic mercury, you'd better stock up soon on normal light bulbs. We are right behind Britain in the march into ecofascist insanity:

Home decor and furniture company IKEA is no longer stocking or selling incandescent light bulbs in its U.S. stores, instead offering longer-lasting and energy-efficient bulbs.
The retailer began phasing out the sale of the light bulbs in August. IKEA's action comes ahead of federal legislation that would mandate more efficient light bulbs starting in 2012. …
"Eliminating incandescents is just one simple way for IKEA customers to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gases," Mike Ward, U.S. IKEA president, said in a statement Tuesday.

Apparently corporate suits still believe that sanctimonious green rhetoric and complying with intolerably onerous regulations even before they have to will endear them to a public that has been fed to the teeth with pernicious ecomoonbattery. Either that or they are congenital bootlickers, eager to display submission to their bureaucrat masters.

Tour of Detroit, City of the Future

Posted by Dave Blount at 6:26 PM

Liberals were so excited to elect our Historic First Black President, it didn't bother them that Obama had no other qualifications. But Detroit, our most liberal city, is well out in front of the nation as a whole. The last 5 mayors in row have been black, starting with Coleman Young in 1974 and continuing through Dennis Archer, Kwame Kilpatrick, and Kenneth Cockrel Jr. to the current retired basketball player Dave Bing. The odds of the streak continuing look pretty good. Here's how it's been working out:

Maybe politically correct skin color isn't the only qualification required for effective leadership.

Commander of Nuclear-Powered Aircraft Carrier Thrown Overboard on Behalf of Gays

Posted by Dave Blount at 1:22 PM

The homosexualization of the military represented by the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell has already begun to destroy careers:

The Navy will likely remove the commander of the USS Enterprise from his post after bawdy videos in which he denigrated gays and made other vulgar references became public, a defense official said.
The Navy announced it was investigating Capt. Owen Honors, the Enterprise commander, after a newspaper published excerpts of videos he recorded in 2006 and 2007.

His higher-ups knew about the childish but harmless videos for years. Why use them to destroy his career now?

[T]he military is under pressure to show that will not tolerate slurs against the sexual orientation [of] service members after last month's congressional repeal of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" law that barred gays from serving openly in the military.

That is, a high-level example had to be set, to make clear that homosexuals are now an elite class. Their disease-spreading, morale-rotting perversions are sacred to liberals, and therefore must be revered.

Presumably courage is still considered a positive attribute in the military. But our progressive rulers aren't going to tolerate anyone this courageous:

In one video, Capt. Honors uses a derogatory term for gays and jokingly acknowledges the skits are likely to offend some sailors. "This evening, all of you bleeding hearts … why don't you just go ahead and hug yourselves for the next 20 minutes or so, because there's a really good chance you're gonna be offended," he said.

Offending overt homosexuals and the bleeding hearts who egg them on will not be tolerated under authorities who are concerned not with winning wars but with advancing their sickening sociopolitical agenda. As the situation continues to degenerate, anyone with enough character to be disgusted will seek employment elsewhere, leaving the armed forces to rot into a make-work jobs program and social engineering laboratory.

Sure enough: Honors has been relieved of duty.

ObamaCare Already Preventing Hospital Construction

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:40 AM

ObamaCare is already doing its work — depriving us of healthcare, destroying jobs, and suppressing free market competition:

Under the headline, "Construction Stops at Physician Hospitals," Politico reports [yesterday] that "Physician Hospitals of America says that construction had to stop at 45 hospitals nationwide or they would not be able to bill Medicare for treatments." Stopping construction at doctor-owned hospitals might not seem like the best way to boost the economy or to promote greater access and choice in health care, but that exactly what Obamacare is doing.
Kenneth Artz of the Heartland Institute explains, "Section 6001 of the health care law effectively bans new physician-owned hospitals (POHs) from starting up, and it keeps existing ones from expanding." Politico adds, "Friday [New Year's Eve] marked the last day physician-owned hospitals could get Medicare certification covering their new or expanded hospitals, one of the latest provisions of the reform law to go into effect."
This little-noticed but particularly egregious aspect of Obamacare is, by all accounts, a concession to the powerful American Hospital Association (AHA), a supporter of Obamacare, which prefers to have its member hospitals operate without competition from hospitals owned by doctors. Dr. Michael Russell, president of Physician Hospitals of America, which has filed suit to try to stop this selective building-ban from going into effect, says, "There are so many regulations [in Obamacare] and they are so onerous and intrusive that we believe that the section [Section 6001] was deliberately designed so no physician owned hospital could successfully comply."

But on the positive side, cronies with a special seat at the Big Government table (like the AHA, the AMA, and established giants in the pharmaceutical and insurance industries) stand to profit, at least in the short-term, at the expense of the rest of us.

Cuban Commies Slash Government

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:16 AM

Since we learn from our mistakes, and fools make a lot of mistakes, it's often possible to learn from fools. For example, the commies running Cuba:

The first layoffs have begun in the communist government's program to cut the jobs of 500,000 state workers, according to the head of the Cuban Workers Confederation. …
The layoffs are to affect 10 percent of Cuba's government work force and are supposed to finish by March. The job cuts are part of an economic overhaul aimed at slashing government expenditures.

Obama Plans Massive Land Grab

Posted by Dave Blount at 8:58 AM

Nothing better sums up the Left's antidemocratic and antihuman agenda that the Obama Administration's policy of circumventing Congress to seal off our own land from use.

An Obama administration directive designed to preserve more public lands as wilderness is stirring anger in the West, where ranchers, sportsmen and energy companies say they could lose access to acreage they count on for their recreation and livelihood.
The regulatory change … directs the Bureau of Land Management to survey its vast holdings stretching between Alaska, Arizona, California and Colorado, in search of unspoiled back country. The agency can then designate these tracts — potentially millions of acres — as "wild lands."

"Wild lands" are lands expropriated from the human race on behalf of the lizards and chipmunks. If we aren't allowed to use them, they may as well have fallen into the sea. Not only development, but drilling, mining, cattle grazing, and even recreational activities may be forbidden.

Obama's latest power grab does not require legislative approval, but there is something Congress can do, in the unlikely event Republicans show some spine.

House Republicans, who will hold the majority in the new Congress that arrives next week, say they plan hearings on the new policy and perhaps seek to cut funding to the BLM for identifying and managing wild lands.

They had better. Like the nefarious EPA, the BLM exists to grow the government and shrink the economy.

Given moonbats' disdain for cowboys and for eating the meat we require for proper nutrition, it's unsurprising that ranchers stand to take a beating.

Jim Hagenbarth, a Montana rancher who leases BLM land to graze cattle … fears he might lose some of his leases to wild lands designations, or be barred from such practices as burning off sagebrush to clear room for the grasses that cattle prefer. He also frets that more protected wilderness will mean more habitat for wolves, grizzlies and other predators who occasionally raid his herds.

Libs don't much like the energy industry either…

Kathleen Sgamma, a director of the Western Energy Alliance, which represents 400 oil and natural-gas companies, said the new policy could block promising lands from drilling. The Obama administration has opened several million acres to leases by energy companies but has revoked or restricted other plans to drill on public lands. Ms. Sgamma said that had forced the industry to cancel nearly $4 billion in investment this year alone.

Like the scale of the unaffordable spending Comrade Obama has indulged in, the land grab could be massive.

[F]ears are heightened by a draft BLM memo that became public earlier this year outlining strategies for protecting up to 140 million acres of BLM land — an area the size of Colorado and Wyoming combined.

It's hard to measure just how much moonbattery costs us, because you don't miss wealth Big Government never allowed to be created in the first place. But imagine the economic consequences of two productive states disappearing from the union.

Some worry that American land is being used as collateral, and will end up being seized by the communist Chinese when it becomes clear that there is no way we can ever pay back the massive sums of money Obama has been borrowing and squandering. But if ChiComs owned the land, at least the resources wouldn't be completely wasted.

Before the income tax, land sales to the private sector constituted a major source of revenue for the government. Now it works the other way; the government eats up land, growing ever larger as America grows smaller.

While Teachers Are Laid Off, Fortunes Spent on School Butterfly Gardens

Posted by Dave Blount at 7:43 AM

Teachers have been getting laid off right and left in Florida's Broward School District. Despite all the taxes, the money just isn't there to pay them. This gives an idea of where it went:

For years, Weston developer Roy Rogers planted gardens designed to lure butterflies to Broward schools, using volunteer labor and donated supplies. His generosity and commitment to teaching kids about nature drew plaudits as did his signature act: placing a butterfly on the tip of a delighted child's nose.
Beginning in 2004, however, the gardens and Rogers' services were no longer free. The district began paying for them.
Ultimately, over the next four years, Rogers' firm collected more than $394,000 from the school system, mostly for butterfly gardens but also to aid a school in the hunt for grant funding.
Rogers could have been paid more had the district not run into towering deficits. A three-year contract he agreed to in 2007 was worth up to $1 million.

Does it really cost that much to make a butterfly garden? Not for everyone:

This year, an Eagle Scout at Sunset Lakes Elementary School in Miramar raised funds and installed a butterfly garden complete with benches, fountain, hummingbird feeder and pathway for about $600, using donated and discounted supplies and volunteer labor.
In 2009, at Coconut Creek's Monarch High School, an English teacher and the school's environment and geometry clubs built a butterfly garden for $390.

To get the big money, it helps to have connections. Rogers has no formal training in entomology, but he does chair the Florida Commission on Ethics. More importantly,

Rogers had long business ties to school district leaders, including the construction chief, Michael Garretson. Garretson, who is now deceased, awarded some district work to Rogers' company, including four no-bid jobs worth $25,000 each from 2004 to 2008.

Green mania has helped him too:

In addition, in 2007, Rogers answered a call from the district for proposals from landscape consultants. The effort was part of the district's "Go Green" initiative, championed by now retired School Board member Bob Parks, to plant native trees and plants on school grounds and promote water conservation.

Once built, the butterfly gardens go quickly to seed.

For Cooper City High School, Rogers submitted two invoices, each for $3,350. The district paid them both. "We went back twice," Rogers recalled. "District maintenance slaughtered what we had done."

Others fill up with trash, or dry out because they aren't watered. But the important thing is the noble environmentalist gesture of building these little shrines to Gaia. That, and raking in as much taxpayer money as possible before bankruptcy closes the spigot.

Getting put in touch with nature doesn't come cheap.

If "Asian" means "Muslim of Pakistani origin" in the British press, what does "unruly young people" mean in the American press?

Mayfair Mall [in suburban Milwaukee] closed down early on Sunday afternoon as New Year's weekend shoppers were told to leave after witnesses reported seeing groups of unruly young people shouting and running in the Wauwatosa shopping center.
There also were unsubstantiated reports of gunfire.

Free money and a ride to the mall won't close the gap between civilization and savagery.

Holder Explains Letting New Black Panthers Skate

Posted by Dave Blount at 3:07 PM

Finally, Eric Holder explains why his Injustice Department dropped a voter intimidation case against the New Black Panthers that had already been won:

Asked about the prospect of oversight hearings and subpoenas involving the New Black Panther case, Mr. Holder said, "there is no 'there' there."
"The notion that this made-up controversy leads to a belief that this Justice Department is not color-blind in enforcement of civil rights laws is simply not supported by the facts," he said.

Unfortunately for Holder and friends, the "made-up controversy" was caught on video:

Here's NBPP head maniac Malik Shabazz, apparently following a highly productive personal meeting with Obama, implying that Holder threw out the case on racial grounds:

Confirmation that squashing the New Black Panther case was all about race:

Not only does Todd Gaziano (Congressional appointee to the United States Commission on Civil Rights) claim that the 2008 Election Day voter intimidation charge against the Philadelphia New Black Panther Party was "open and shut," but that Deputy Assistant Attorney General Julie Fernandes ordered, "Never bring another lawsuit against a black or other national minority, apparently no matter what they do."

Here's what former Justice Department official J. Christian Adams has to say about the "made-up controversy":

On the day President Obama was elected, armed men wearing the black berets and jackboots of the New Black Panther Party were stationed at the entrance to a polling place in Philadelphia. They brandished a weapon and intimidated voters and poll watchers. After the election, the Justice Department brought a voter-intimidation case against the New Black Panther Party and those armed thugs. I and other Justice attorneys diligently pursued the case and obtained an entry of default after the defendants ignored the charges. Before a final judgment could be entered in May 2009, our superiors ordered us to dismiss the case.
The New Black Panther case was the simplest and most obvious violation of federal law I saw in my Justice Department career. Because of the corrupt nature of the dismissal, statements falsely characterizing the case and, most of all, indefensible orders for the career attorneys not to comply with lawful subpoenas investigating the dismissal, this month I resigned my position as a Department of Justice (DOJ) attorney.

If the new Republican Congress has the backbone to launch aggressive investigations into Holder and the rest of the militant leftists comprising the Obama Administration for gross misfeasance, there will definitely be a "there" there.

Bush played golf 32 times over two terms. This was enough golf to incur the snide wrath of the mainstream media.

Light Bulb Prices Due to Triple

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:41 AM

It looks like GE and Philips Lighting are going to get their money's worth for whatever they spent "lobbying" (i.e., bribing) bureaucrats to ban normal light bulbs. Once again, formerly Great Britain serves as the canary in the coalmine of moonbattery:

The price of energy-saving light bulbs will treble as the final supplies of traditional bulbs dry up, industry experts have warned.
The Government has ordered energy companies to scrap the subsidies that have kept the price of eco-bulbs artificially low for the last few years.
At the same time, manufacturers are increasing wholesale prices to take advantage of the European ban on 'energy guzzling' old-style bulbs.

The soon-to-be-illegal affordable bulbs are going up in price too, thanks as always to Big Government:

Retailers also claim bulbs that currently cost only 33p are expected to sell for more than £1 within three months. Some will cost £3 or more.
The move comes as Britain is gearing up to phase out the last incandescent light bulbs in an effort to meet climate change targets.
The EU has already banned shops from buying stocks of 100watt bulbs and stopped them stocking up on any type of frosted incandescent bulbs.

The politically correct eco-bulbs trigger migraines and epileptic fits, cost too much, flicker, and contain poisonous mercury. But our rulers tell us they will improve the weather.

Governator Exits Clinton Style

Arnold Schwarzenegger finished his disastrous stint as Governator appropriately — with a final act of pandering to the Democrats who have been ruining California and whom he was elected to confront:

"We are totally outraged," said Fred Santos, the father of Luis Santos [the murder victim]. "For the governor to wait until the last day in hopes it would fly under the radar is an absolute injustice."

Santos needs to understand that Fabian Nuñez isn't just any California Democrat pol, but a special ally:

Fabian Nuñez, a Democrat, grew close to the governor while speaker. The two worked together to pass the state's landmark global warming law, which was a signature achievement of Schwarzenegger's time in office.

If Schwarzenegger, Nuñez, and the rest are ever held accountable for what they did to California's economy in the name of the global warming hoax, pardons will definitely not be in order.

New Black Panthers Cash in on Green Economy Wealth Redistribution

Katie Couric Calls for Muslim Version of Cosby Show

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:01 PM

In case there is anyone left who doesn't loathe Katie Couric and the rest of the clueless yet condescending liberal elite media, here she is denouncing Americans as bigots over opposition to the victory mosque at Ground Zero and calling for a Muslim version of the Cosby Show to teach us that jihad is cuddly and warm:

Transcript via NewsBusters:

"I also think sort of the chasm, between, or the bigotry expressed against Muslims in this country has been one of the most disturbing stories to surface this year. Of course, a lot of noise was made about the Islamic Center, mosque, down near the World Trade Center, but I think there wasn't enough sort of careful analysis and evaluation of where this bigotry toward 1.5 billion Muslims worldwide, and how this seething hatred many people feel for all Muslims, which I think is so misdirected, and so wrong — and so disappointing. …
"Maybe we need a Muslim version of The Cosby Show."

Meanwhile, Islam continues the war of annihilation it has been waging against the West since the 6th century. As soon as they have the technological means, Muslims will kill us by the millions, as they have made inescapably obvious at every possible opportunity. While the repugnant Miss Cupcake clicks her tongue in disappointment and her fellow moonbat Mo Rocca admits he knows nothing about Islam, 1,987 Islamic terror attacks took place in 2010, killing 9,175 and critically injuring 17,436 according to Islam: Religion of Peace.

But Katie is right about hatred of Muslims being misdirected. After they were turned back from the gates of Vienna in 1529, Muslims were not able to make serious headway against the West for almost 500 years due to their cultural inadequacy. They are only a threat again now because liberalism has made us vulnerable. Muslims are an opportunistic infection. Our progressive rulers — perfectly personified by Katie Couric — are the underlying disease.

MSNBC: W's Book Selling Well Because People Hate Him

Posted by Dave Blount at 10:54 AM

How does the liberal media explain why W's book has sold much more quickly than Slick Willie's? Because W "was hated by so many people."

Yet the moonbats at MSNBC are widely hated, and that doesn't seem to be helping their ratings.

Marine and Wife Attacked by Punks

Posted by Dave Blount at 4:37 PM

America's worst enemies are closer to home than Afghanistan. Fortunately for now we still have the Second Amendment to keep them at bay. Here's what happened when a Marine home from the war tried to take his wife out to the movies on Christmas night in Bradenton, Florida:

The reason this wasn't a racial incident is the victims were white, and the attackers evidently black.

Free Market Is No Friend of Moonbats

Posted by Dave Blount at 12:41 PM

No wonder liberals hate the free market so much. It keeps punishing them for being such moonbats. A case in point is the preposterous Christiane Amanpour:

It was with great fanfare and a measure of controversy that ABC News named Christiane Amanpour to anchor its Sunday morning show "This Week" after George Stephanopoulos moved on to host "Good Morning America."
Since then, the former CNN correspondent's ratings and audience reception have been underwhelming as the international reporter attempts to take on the network's flagship Washington-based politics show. The show debuted at No. 3 among network Sunday talk shows, behind perennial leader NBC's "Meet the Press" and CBS' "Face the Nation." Nine weeks after she took the helm, the show's ratings fell to their lowest level since 2003. …
Indeed, a review of the high-profile hire's five months on the air yields a variety of biased, tortured, and downright silly questions that don't exactly have the ring of Tim Russert-like expertise about them.

But Amanpoor is enough of a moonbat to compare Palestinian terrorists to the Dalai Lama, explaining how she got the job.

Meanwhile, on the more successful side of the information industry:

Fox is the most trusted television news network in the country, according to a new poll out Tuesday.
A Public Policy Polling nationwide survey of 1,151 registered voters Jan. 18-19 found that 49 percent of Americans trusted Fox News, 10 percentage points more than any other network.
Thirty-seven percent said they didn't trust Fox, also the lowest level of distrust that any of the networks recorded.

The libs at Politico try to spin the story by including this:

"A generation ago you would have expected Americans to place their trust in the most neutral and unbiased conveyors of news," said PPP President Dean Debnam in his analysis of the poll. "But the media landscape has really changed, and now they're turning more toward the outlets that tell them what they want to hear."

We certainly can't have people deciding for themselves which are the "neutral and unbiased conveyors of news." That's what experts like Debnam are for. Since the free market listens to the public rather than to an elitist cadre of condescending blowhards, Big Government needs to step in for our own good and force us to pay for pretentious liberal pigswill via the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

WaPo's Ezra Klein: Constitution Is Confusing, Has No Binding Power

Posted by Dave Blount at 11:57 AM

Now we know why liberal elite intellectuals have no respect for the US Constitution — since it was "written more than 100 years ago," they can't make any sense of it. Ezra Klein of the Washington Post explains on MSNBC:

So the Constitution "has no binding power on anything" and pretending otherwise is a "gimmick." That must be what liberals mean by a living, breathing Constitution.

Separated at Birth?

The Socialist Unity Party of Germany, which ruled East Germany on behalf of the Soviet Union, may have shared a womb with Newsweek Magazine:

That might explain Newsweek's fiscal inefficacy.
