The so-called FDA Food Safety Modernization Act isn't just about Big Government taking a page out of Stalin's playbook by consolidating control over the food supply. It's also about federal politics as usual — that is, corrupt bureauweenies voting to favor those who stand to gain from intrusive legislation in return for cash payoffs.
