Government Moves on Food Supply

Using malevolent policies to maintain stratospheric unemployment enabled FDR to wield nearly dictatorial power for a dozen years, explaining every major government initiative since Comrade Obama took power. Seizing control of the food supply allowed Joseph Stalin to rule still more repressively, explaining S. 510, the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act:
The government is deliberately moving power into the hands of faceless, unelected bureauweenies in regulatory agencies like the FDA and the EPA, where voters will not be able to get at them.
Meanwhile the lame ducks in the House are working on ramming through their own related mischief:
Its House companion Bill, HR 2749, empowers federal bureaucracies to totally prohibit the movement of any and all foods into or out of a given area (Section 133b, "Authority to Prohibit or Restrict the Movement of Food," sponsored by Congressman Dingell). Sure, sure, the idea may be to prevent the spread of dangerous foods, but once the camel's nose is under the tent, you know what can happen.
Nothing could be more predictable than our liberal rulers going after food, particularly in light of the hype surrounding the phony "obesity" crisis. We couldn't stop them from sowing the seeds of destruction for the housing and healthcare industries. If we don't stop them this time, whether your family eats will be determined by the whim of socialist bureaucrats.
