Morning Briefs for Odin's Day, Item #1: On Civility

Good Morning Conservative Patriots, Good Morning Left-Wing Typography Police,
R.S. McCain posts on how Republican "civility" is arguably soft treason.
"Civility" has been defined in such a way that Democrats routinely get away with rhetorical overkill, while Republicans are compelled to limit their discourse to terms acceptable to liberals.
You don't win arguments that way. I'm all in favor of conservatives trying to keep to the discursive high ground, but I'm sick of watching Republicans being thrown under the bus by conservative pundits for speaking out bluntly.
It's not hard to think of examples. Democrat Pete Stark said that George W. Bush enjoyed it when soldiers got their heads blown off. No Big Deal. Cynthia McKinney said that George W. Bush knew in advance about the 9-11-2001 Terrorist Attacks. No Big Deal. But let Joe Barton apologize to Tony Hayward and... well, you'd think he had stood on the house floor and advocated machine-gunning daycare centers.
Thoughts?
