Name for Radical Movement SOAR Already Taken

Posted by Dave Blount at June 28, 2010 9:57 AM

The progressive revolutionaries behaving like the cavechildren they are in Toronto are good at breaking windows and shouting leftist slogans, but less skillful at using search engines — or they would be able to come up with names that haven't already been taken. From the comically serious website "The Guerrilla Underground Network: Dispatches & Communiqués From the Frontlines of the Global Social War":

We are calling ourselves Southern Ontario Anarchist Resistance (SOAR), and this June, we want you to hop to Toronto. In the last decade, our movements have spent a lot of time arguing about summit hopping. This conversation has often been interesting and productive, but we feel that the time has come to stop talking, and to start causing some {EXPLETIVE DELETED}! SOAR is calling for three actions, between the afternoon of Saturday, June 26th and the evening of the 27th.

The author signs off with the line "Be the riot you wish to see," in case anyone doesn't know what an "action" is.

Here's the first comment in response to this foundation-shaking call for chaos:

Please be advised that we at Southern Ontario Animal Rescue (S.O.A.R.) request that you immediately cease and desist using the acronym S.O.A.R. in any form of media including, but not limited to, websites, news articles and on line blogs. This acronym is copyrighted and trademarked by us and has been in use since February 2005.
Southern Ontario Animal Rescue (SOAR) is a very dedicated group of volunteers in Southern Ontario, Canada, committed to rescuing all breeds of dogs in need.

Maybe the two SOARS could merge and provide kennel space and free hose-downs for anarchist squatter types. Better still, the moonbat SOAR could follow the advice of the next commenter:

Either go home to your rich parents, or get a job.

Don't accuse the Vladimir Lenin wannabes of deliberately stealing the name from Southern Ontario Animal Rescue. They were probably just angling for financing from George Soros, whose name means "will soar" in Esperanto.

A moonbat participates in an "action" in Toronto.
