Are the U.S. and Israel Heading for Divorce?

In short: probably. Just a week before Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu is to meet Bumbling Obama in the White House, Israel's ambassador to the United States is not all that up about the staying power of Israel's longest and closest relationship with another nation.

Michael Oren, Israel's ambassador to Washington, told foreign ministry colleagues at a private briefing in Jerusalem that they were facing a long and potentially irrevocable estrangement.
Sources said Mr Oren told the meeting: "There is no crisis in Israel-US relations because in a crisis there are ups and downs. [Instead] relations are in a state of tectonic rift in which continents are drifting apart."
[...]
According to Mr Oren, attempts to gain leverage over President Obama through some of his "pro-Israel" aides - believed to be a reference to Rahm Emanuel, the White House chief-of-staff, and Dennis Ross, a senior State Department official - had failed.
"It's a one man show," Mr Oren reportedly told his colleagues.

That "one man" -- indeed, The One -- simply doesn't care for Israel a wit and has peronally disrespected Netanyahu on at least one occasion. This grim assessment from the Israeli Ambassador comes only days after 87 senators signed a bipartisan letter begging Chairman Zero to support its only true ally in the Middle East. Even Al Franken signed on to this letter.

When they meet, expect to see our Dear Leader all chummy and vacuous with a stalwart and diplomatic Netanyahu. Expect shortened photo-ops with the Israeli PM (if he's even so lucky to have one). And in the end, expect no improvement in U.S.-Israeli relations for the foreseeable future.

What a pathetic waste of a relationship, in order to try an cultivate a fantasy love affair with the Islamic world that could only end in our defeat and dhimmitude.
