Hillary's Brazilian Wax Job

Now that you're finished throwing up after reading the threadline...
It seems Hillary Clinton went to the leftist Brookings Institute and, sensing a friendly audience of like-minded dingbat elites, opened her pie-hole and started yapping about how Brazil had high taxes and a booming economy.
"Brazil has the highest tax-to-GDP rate in the Western Hemisphere and guess what -- they're growing like crazy," Clinton said. "And the rich are getting richer, but they're pulling people out of poverty."
This sounds like the kind of "fact" a lefty dimwit would spout in the comments of a right-wing blog, and it has just about as much as basis in reality. First of all, that thing about "growing like crazy" is only if by "crazy" you mean "a fraction of the growth experienced by a recession-racked United States."
Brazil's GDP grew 2.0% in the last quarter. The average rates for 2007, 2008 and 2009 were 1.61%, 0.39% and 0.96%, respectively.
And what growth there is comes from offshore oil development, which Chairman Zero is putting a stop to in the USA.
Also, as for dragging people out of poverty... meh, not so much. Somewhere between 20% and 25% of Brazil's population lives below its official poverty line (compared to 13% in the USA). And this isn't the American kind of poverty in $200 sneakers. It's the real kind.
Just, seriously, what is wrong with these people that they have to make up (stuff) like this?
