When Animal Rights Lawyers Attack

Posted by Gregory of Yardale at March 3, 2010 1:07 PM

The "A pig is a dog is a boy" crowd are up to their cruel and tragic shenanigans again. Wesley J Smith writing in NRO describes a referendum in Switzerland (normally, one of the less-batty Eurotopistanian countries) that would extend to animals the right to be represented in court by attorneys.

The real litigants, of course, would be animal-rights activists -- committed true believers who would use the raw power of litigation to force animal industries to their knees. Imagine the chaos: hundreds of animal lawyers, filing thousands of lawsuits, leading to hundreds of thousands of depositions, forcing industries to spend tens of millions of dollars on lawyers and legal costs defending their husbandry. No animal industry would be safe, and many would not survive.

Smith says the ultimate goal of the Animal Rights Left is to make animals equal to humans. Not quite true. Your average Animal Rights Activist goes ballistic at the thought of anyone eating eggs or veal, but also supports unrestricted "abortion rights."

South Park, of course, hilariously nailed the idiocy of Animal Rights Activists in the episode, Douche and Turd.
