Robert Welch Tried to Warn Us
Posted by Dave Blount at March 14, 2010 1:50 PM
Unfolding history has validated what the John Birch Society was saying decades ago. In this vintage speech, founder Robert Welch outlines the top 10 progressive aims of America's enemy within:
1. Greatly expanded government spending for every conceivable means of getting rid of ever larger sums of American money as wastefully as possible.
Readers are referred to the pork-bloated outrage our rulers saw fit to call a "stimulus" package, which included spending our money on turtle tunnels and Marxist puppet shows.
2. Higher and then much higher taxes.
Unless Chairman Zero et al. plan to default on the debt, these will be hitting us soon. The Cap & Tax fiasco, which Dems may attempt to revive, has much more to do with massively raising taxes than it does with the debunked global warming hoax.
3. A increasingly unbalanced budget, despite the higher taxes.

4. Wild inflation of our currency.
The printing pressing are churning out increasingly worthless currency day and night. As soon as the economy gets back on its feet, the excess money will flood in to knock it on its back again with double-digit inflation.
5. Government controls of prices, wages, and materials, supposedly to combat inflation.
Why wait for the coming inflation? Our socialist rulers have already been closing their greedy fists around the automotive, insurance, banking, mortgage, and healthcare industries.
6. Greatly increased socialistic controls over every operation of our economy and every activity of our daily lives. This is to be accompanied naturally and automatically by a correspondingly huge increase in the size of our bureaucracy and in both the cost and reach of our domestic government.
The size and cost of the bureaucracy is exploding, as we find ourselves living under a liberal regime so grotesquely excessive in its authoritarianism that it may soon be illegal for chefs to use salt.
7. Far more centralization of power in Washington and the practical elimination of our state lines. There is a many faceted drive at work to have our state lines eventually mean no more within the nation than our county lines do now within the states.
The point of our federal system was to provide a bulwark against tyranny. Thankfully, some states are starting to wake up.
8. The steady advance of federal aid to and control over our educational system, leading to complete federalization of our public education.
All the better to advance not only leftist propaganda, but also liberal social aims, such as mainstreaming pedophilia.
9. A constant hammering into the American consciousness of the horror of modern warfare, the beauty and the absolute necessity of peace, peace always on communist terms of course.
Or on Islamic terrorist terms, as the case may be.
10. The consequent willingness of the American people to allow the steps of appeasement by our government, which amount to a piecemeal surrender of the rest of the free world and of the United States itself.
We already have a "Justice" Department staffed by lawyers who have volunteered to work on behalf of foreign terrorists. It would be hard to take appeasement much further without officially surrendering.
Welch's objective of reducing the size of our monstrous government by 50% may seem like a fantasy, but Thomas Jefferson did it. We'll need another Thomas Jefferson if this country is to be saved.
