New York Bashing Part Deux: Priorities Fail

Posted by The MaryHunter at March 31, 2010 5:05 PM

One reason that Manhattan could be crawling with rats soon is this progressive enclave's sense of misplaced priorities. Another example: consider their latest fail on schools.

New York State failed to win federal education funds from the Race to the Top program, in part because of requests for designer furniture.
The New York Post reports the equipment requests totaled $200,000 and included $13,000 for two dozen executive chairs, and more than $61,000 for 24 desks. Three of the five judges who reviewed the application blasted the requests: "These inclusions compromise the state's narrative as a careful steward of public funds."

Yup, over $2,500 for a desk and over $500 for a chair is right up there on the list of "must haves" for a struggling school system. This isn't the only reason that New York lost the bid, but it certainly is a telling one.

This trend appears real and is only going to get worse in NYC and other paradises of reckless deficit spending, fueled by the Obot "I'll get a free pony" mentality. And it couldn't be any more heartbreaking to those of us out there who really used to love, or at least respect, New York City in its heyday.
