Another Dem Bites the Dust: Eric Massa (D-New York)

Posted by The MaryHunter at March 3, 2010 12:23 PM

More rats are fleeing the sinking ship.

Rep. Eric Massa (D-NY) is finished with Congress after a single term, he plans to announce in a press conference call today, sources confirm to Hotline OnCall.

Massa, a former top aide on the House Armed Services Committee and aide to ret. Gen. Wes Clark, will cite health reasons in his announcement, the New York Daily News, which broke the story, reported today, though Massa warned a source for the paper about "hearing things that aren't true," a seemingly veiled reference to embarrassing information that may emerge.

"Embarrassing information" might emerge? What could be more embarrassing than being a Democrat in the 111th Congress?

The GOP is excited about Corning Mayor Tom Reed (R), and without Massa on the ballot the party has an excellent shot to take back the seat [Randy] Kuhl held for 4 years. Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) won the district by a 51%-48% margin, one of just 4 districts he won in the 29-district Empire State.

Nobody's counting chickens quite yet, but there sure are a lot fewer viable jackasses in view.

This is starting to become insulting to legitimate jackasses.

UPDATE 14:53 EST/12:53 MBT: Turns out, according to Politico.com, Rep. Masa may have had a boy toy on staff.

According to several House aides - on both sides of the aisle - the House ethics committee has been informed of allegations that Massa, who is married with two children, sexually harassed a male staffer.
Asked about the sexual harassment allegations, Massa said: "When someone makes a decision to leave Congress, everybody says everything. I have health issues. I'll talk about it [later]."
