Under Paterson, New York State Taxes Will Continue to Skyrocket

Posted by Dave Blount at January 20, 2010 8:18 AM

New York's economy is suffocating under an outrageously excessive tax burden second only to New Jersey's. So naturally Governor David Paterson plans to solve the problem by jacking up taxes by $1 billion. New taxes will include:

A $1 increase in the cigarette tax, raising the state tax to $3.75.
A new soda tax that will cost consumers 1-cent per ounce — a 16-ounce bottle will cost 16 cents more, a 64-ounce bottle 64 cents more.
The governor also plans to legalize and sanction [and tax, of course] cage fighting.

He also plans to introduce 50 speed cameras, to rake in fines up to $100. A similar program to raise revenues in Arizona has the public fuming — New Yorkers aren't likely to like it any better.

Just as the clueless moonbat Coupe Deval Patrick — a David Axelrod-designed Obama prototype — helped bring about the Brown Revolution with his incompetence, Paterson and other oblivious Dems are paving the way for the revolution to spread in November.
