Gavin Newsom Does His Broken Clock Impression

Posted by Gregory of Yardale at January 19, 2010 10:08 AM

As a drunken, philandering Democrat from the left fringe of his party, San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom feels a special kinship with Ted Kennedy, and appears to have his antennae more finely attuned to the implication of the Brown-Coakley race than his fellow Demonrats.

"We better get our act together - and quickly," Newsom said. Voters "are so angry. They don't feel that we're paying attention to their needs, in terms of their jobs, and what's going on at the grassroots, in their neighborhoods."
"This is real," he said. "At our own peril, we dismiss these tea parties as ... some sort of isolated extremism. ... It's not."

He's got the right diagnoses, unfortunately, he will conclude with the wrong prescription; more government programs and more taxes to pay for them.

Later in the article, Nanny Rictus Botox Pelosi says she's not worried, because the Democrats have confidence in their 2010 campaign strategy of smearing Republicans 24/7; the same strategy that worked so well for Governor Corzine, Governor Deeds, and Senator Coakley.
