Blitzkrieg Remains Dems' Favored Tactic

If our Democrat rulers thought they were acting in the country's best interests, they wouldn't be in such a hurry to rush through unpopular legislation before anyone can stop them:
House and Senate Democrats intend to bypass traditional procedures when they negotiate a final compromise on health care legislation, officials said Monday, a move that will exclude Republican lawmakers and reduce their ability to delay or force politically troubling votes in both houses. …
Democratic aides said the final compromise talks would essentially be a three-way negotiation involving top Democrats in the House and Senate and the White House, a structure that gives unusual latitude to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada and Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California.
As for the bipartisanship we were promised:
The issue is so partisan that only one Republican, Rep. Anh "Joseph" Cao of Louisiana, has cast a vote in favor of the legislation.
A footnote: Cao represents an almost entirely Democrat district in the Big Sleazy. He was elected by accident, because few of his constituents were bright enough to realize that the Democrat primary wasn't the actual election. Cao squeaked past William Jefferson, the scumbag who diverted Katrina rescue operations for nefarious purposes and who had been caught with $90,000 in bribe money in his freezer.
Bypassing a formal conference committee enables Democrats to omit time-consuming procedural steps in the Senate and prevents Republicans from trying to delay the final negotiations.
There is a reason our system allows the minority party to slow down legislation: so that if radicals temporarily find themselves in control of the government, they don't exploit the opportunity to ram through extreme legislation that will cripple the country. What we are seeing is the methodical dismantling of such safeguards as our republic degenerates into a socialist oligarchy.
