Profiles in Countermoonbattery: Michael Crichton
Posted by The MaryHunter at December 1, 2009 5:42 PM
This posthumous profile lauds Michael Crichton, one of the most outspoken defenders of sensibility in the arena of science vs. moonbat environmentalism. In his classic speech "Environmentalism as Religion", he deconstructed the mindless, religious approach to environmentalism and explained how that lunacy actually can bring about the opposite of what the zealots seem to want most: protection of the natural world.
Even just this 4-minute video gives a great example of Crichton's triumph of reason over reaction, of think good over feel good. At no time has this been more important to understand than now, as the global warming/climate change "debate" flails in its final death throws. Perhaps this is what the CRU hacker/whistleblower had in mind when he/she went for the jugular of that seemingly unstoppable leviathan Manmade Global Warming and sank it in to the hilt.
What better time to celebrate this notable AGW skeptic.

I know very little about this guy but these answers are very good. Darn near right on in fact. Shame he's dead we could still use a good man on this subject. I don't know if I would go with the proverbial death throws just yet.

I truly cannot imagine the Warming-Hoax will die. Liberals will never simply acknowledge the facts and crawl back under the slime. They will continue to proclaim the water's rising, Gaia is suffering, polar bears can't swim, CO2 is killing the world, Al Gore is the emperor, etc., and will continue with the usual name calling.

The political Left proclaims itself to be 'fact based', yet this cultlike pseudoenviromentalism is based on emotion.....very shrill and irrational emotion.
At best, they're a bunch of well-meaning but ill-informed crybabies that really do want to "save the planet". Keep in mind that hiding behind them are those truly evil and sinister individuals that want to use this "crisis" for financial gain, political and economic power, and social reengineering.

Mr. Schroeder, I would highly recommend you read "State of Fear" by Crichton. It's a fun read with a sh*tton of references. RIP MC! He was a brilliant man.
Tony, you are so right. They are what the communists call usefull idiots. They'd be the first to go, and they have no idea.

Too bad he didnt live long enough to see the reality of what he said unfold.

Well said John T. He would have been such a strong voice at this point considering how hard he fought. I also think all the countermoonbats out there feel some vindication with climaquiddick. I wish MC could have felt that way more than simply knowing he was right.

His speeches on science, global warming, and UFOS are absolute must-reads--they're all on his website. Crichton was an incredibly brilliant man: I loved the fact that while he wrote pulpy thrillers, they always had pages of bibliography at the back. The man knew his research.
