Profiles in Countermoonbattery: Dick Cheney
Posted by The MaryHunter at December 23, 2009 3:50 PM
This post is intended to absolutely short-circuit our resident (was that redolent?) liberal trolls. Besides Sarah Palin and George Bush, what other name could possibly send socialist-Marxist lefties apoplectic other than Dick Cheney? Human Events has named the former VEEP their Conservative of the Year. Here is a distillation of their case for Mr. Cheney:
The newspaper named Mr. Cheney as their "conservative of the year" for his vehement defense of using "enhanced-interrogation techniques," which the liberal left has called "torture," and for the criticism he has directed toward the Obama administration for releasing previously classified memos and reports about it.
Former U.S. Ambassador John R. Bolton wrote an essay singing Mr. Cheney's praises for the paper that also lauded him as a humble public servant, undeterred from frequent attacks on his character.
"Cheney's quiet, inner-directed motivation is simply impervious to the attacks orchestrated against him by the Chicago machine-style politicians at the White House, a fact also plainly visible to his fellow citizens," Mr. Bolton wrote. "And it is yet another important reason to have confidence that Cheney's solid policy analysis will yet prevail in the national political arena."
Dick Cheney has spoken out bravely this year in defense of Bush era policies regarding foreign policy, national defense, and fighting terrorism (yes, they used to call it terrorism way back when). He has tied the hapless Obama Court Jester Joe Biden in rhetorical knots. He's got an awesome dog. Despite sustained character assassinations from the state-run media and political hacks in the Administration and Congress, he has maintained his dignity under fire and never wavered in his defense of conservative principles. All this, while simply speaking out as a former VEEP and current United States citizen, without the deep pockets of a lobbying firm or PAC.
Moonbats will gnash their teeth and howl a plenty, offering predictable party-line attacks on Cheney while sneaking in Halliburton references left and right. Ambassador Bolton's article pretty well dismisses them all, with aplomb.
Kudos to Mr. Cheney, Vice President (Ret.), for standing his ground in the name of liberty and freedom.
