Tax on, tax off.

The movie is already a hit over on Airstrip One, where the Bank of England has been monetizing 90% of the fiscal deficit.

In simple terms, that means they're printing 90 cents of new money for every dollar of shortfall.

Unfunded liabilities are skyrocketing above estimates, revenue is falling below (already poor) estimates, and the UK taxpayer will be eating a higher-than-expected loss on nationalized/guaranteed assets.

On top of that, the political class is rushing full speed to cripple the economy with carbon taxes, entitlement-consuming immigrants, an expanded benefits culture, more bureaucracy, and more barriers to productive work.

I've decided to short Airstrip One. The question is no longer where they're going, but rather, why are they in a handbasket.

Ack, that previous post should read: "90 pence for every pound of shortfall" even though they technically mean the same thing (as they are based on a unitless ratio).
