Nancy Pelosi: Out of Control

Posted by Gregory of Yardale at December 1, 2009 1:13 PM

Botoxed Zombie Nancy Pelosi claims there is nothing in the Constitution to prevent the Federal Government from doing whatever she wants it to; in this case, forcing private citizens to enter into contracts with private entities on terms dictated by Congress (and send those who refuse to prison).

From her website:

MYTH:"Health insurance reform could be unconstitutional…or violate the 10th amendment."
FACT: As with Medicare and Medicaid, the federal government has the Constitutional power to reform our health care system. ... Since virtually every aspect of the heath care system has an effect on interstate commerce, the power of Congress to regulate health care is essentially unlimited. [Bolding and italics mine]

But they still try and claim that PelosiCare isn't a total takeover of the Health Care system and that such a takeover isn't their goal.

Your puny Constitution means nothing to me

Be careful Nancy. This can cut both ways. Perhaps there is nothing "unconstitutional" about barging into the House of Representatives, grabbing the speaker, putting her "on trial" on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and banishing her into some form of slavery (overseen by ACORN...since you still want to fund that organization which aids and abets child slavery).

How about THAT, you totalitarian thug? So keep talkin' Nan. 2010 awaits. You betcha.

Social Security and Medicare are voluntary programs. I know people who are past age 65 who refuse to deal with the government on any level and don't participate. Mandating that Americans will either buy healthcare or pay a fine is most certainly unconstitutional. The real intent of this bill is to cross match the Social Security index with the IRS and send out millions of bills for the $250,000 fine which will carry forward until retirement thereby wiping out any future Federal entitlements, Social Security and Medicare included.

Healthcare "reform" is nothing more than the massive expansion of the Federal government while using the IRS to levy fines that nobody can pay, nulling all future benefits, thereby cutting billions from the federal budget.

I am still baffled how health insurance can only be sold within a state is interstate commerce. Just emailed that question to her web site minions.

Also, the part about 'the general welfare' is not talking about the people of the United States but of the federal relationship of the states united.

I like Wyatt's idea.

Social Security and Medicare are voluntary programs.

No, they aren't. All wage earners must pay into these bankrupt quasi-Ponzi programs. All employers must also pay into these programs on behalf of workers (which pushes wages down).

The drag on workers comes out to 15.3%, subject to caps.

The only "choice" connected with these programs is a citizen's choice to not receive benefits - in effect, to turn down their own money.

The affluent can afford to turn down their own money to avoid dealing with the government, because they have enough money of their own such that dealing with the government on the government's terms is not a necessity.

The majority of middle class workers have no choice but to deal with the government, since the government has siphoned off such a great percentage of their wages as to effectively prevent them from becoming self-sufficient in retirement.

If you wish to opt-out of these screwball Ponzi schemes, you have to pay for your retirement twice - once for the forced government plan, then again for the strategy you choose.

The same will apply to the health care mandate. Most middle class families won't be able to afford private health insurance after the government has finished socking them with the burden of the public system.

The liberal jetset can afford to pay twice to avoid these government programs. Middle America can't.

It's voluntary to draw SS and Medicare, but it's certainly not voluntary having to pay into it.

Liberal demacrats have never ever allowed anything like the constitution to stand in their way of imposing big goverment on us all

Posted by: Spurwing Plover at December 1, 2009 2:52 PM

The regulation of interstate commerce has never meant telling companies what products they can sell except for agreed upon safety issues and even then I think that's on thin ice.

A Federal law against a clear and present danger is accepted by the Supreme Clowns and the public as 'okay'. Forcing me to buy something that is designed by some bureaucrat is not.

And BTW... that is exactly what SSA and Medicare/Medicaid are: forced product purchase. You don't have to use it, but you will buy it or go to jail. This form of insanity is not new, but it is out of control.

Posted by: chuck in st paul at December 1, 2009 2:54 PM

Tell me about it IOpian. The 15% FICA right off the top is brutal. Then you have the federal, state local too. I'm paying out over 40% of my income in taxes of one kind or another, and that's just going to go up.

And they will change rules to make increase the applicability of taxes and claim it wasn't a tax increase. Rangel has already tried to change the S-Corp rules that offer a very little bit of relief to self-employed people, and he will do it again.

Anyway, Nancy is a totalitarian and a kook. It's disturbing that she has so much power.

Posted by: forest at December 1, 2009 2:54 PM

She's a doll, isn't she?
The old hag has had so many face lifts that she now has to unbutton her collar to take a shit.

People often times ask me why I seem so bitter about the democrats. I am not bitter, just getting even.
Bush and his associates were called Nazi's, Hitler, Chimp, and Monkey. Try doing that with Obama. Calling Obama a chimp is a hate crime to the left. Disagreeing with Bush was the highest form of patriotism. Disagreeing with Obama is instant racism.
And that's only the start. I think these people deserve the same treatment or worse when the Republicans come back to power.
Using the reasoning on the left, it is not only patriotic to call Pelosi an asshole, it is just plain fun.

Being self-employed I feel that pain. Actually my income tax isn't that big of a deal, I would even dare say it is fair but it is the payroll tax ( entitlements tax )that is killing me.

I can relate.

Us self-employed people also, on top of the extortionate FICA, have to pay FUTA and various state unemployment taxes.

You know, in case we should fire ourselves from our own companies.

Small business has become a cash cow for Big Government. It should come as no surprise that, for the most part, the only small businesses hiring are those in some way connected with Big Government largesse.

Entrepreneurs are sick and tired of taking risk and working hard only to be rewarded with an enormous tax burden and the knowledge that their burden includes not just themselves and their families, but every voter who approaches Big Government with his or her hand out.

We're getting awfully close to the point where small business needs to throw in the towel and go on strike.

Hey, if we qualified for unemployment benefits, there would be some people firing themselves right about now.

That's another drawback in being elf-employed - no UC parachute - not that I want it, but it kinda pisses me off when malingering people gripe that their UC is going to run out, or say, "hey just go on unemployment for a while..." or politicians increase the length of UC while continuing to tax entrepreneurs to death.

"or politicians increase the length of UC while continuing to tax entrepreneurs to death."

What would you like the government to do about unemployment benefits? Let them run out? If you are an "entrepreneur", you might want to rethink that. Most people do not earn alot in benefits, yet most are able to pay bills and maybe shop. If that is not happening, the economy slips deeper in the hole, and even your business could suffer.

But, you're a right-winger, C'mon! let's see more homeless, more foreclosures, more sick, more unemployed, more wars, more vacant businesses! Hell let's just scrap unemployment, social security, and medicaid too!

Yes, it is in the short-term interest of entrepreneurs to hope that the government keeps borrowing money from China and the Middle East to continue propping up the consumer-based economy which accounts for 70% of GDP, much to the benefit of small business.

No, it is not in the long-term interest of businessmen, their children, or their grandchildren for the government to continue subsidizing non-work or make-work with borrowed or printed money. Eventually, the lack of productivity will come home to roost; more UC just ensures that it will come home to roost with interest. The government can kick the can all it pleases, and take more Americans further from the habit of work, but no amount of government policy or printed money can overcome the fundamental economic problems caused by a falling currency, a ballooning trade deficit, or an inherent lack of production of the goods and services that make the American lifestyle comfortable and sought after.

It might come as a shock to you that small business owners are, generally, not recklessly greedy people who would prefer that the government tank their childrens' future by borrowing to keep their short term profits up.

I want to see people take responsibility for themselves and stop bitching to me about how they've been on UC for a year already and it might run out... Take a lesser job than you used to have and work yourself back up. People do it all the time.

Most people who are on UC for a long time either think they are entitled to a job in their local area and refuse move for work, think they entitled to a job just as good as the one they lost, or they are just plain lazy.

So in summary Anonymous, you're a pussy and your hyperbolic BS doesn't cut any ice with me.

Posted by: forest at December 1, 2009 5:48 PM

I'm a pussy because we disagree? I bet you win some debates with that one? You have to understand that many companies that "lesser jobs" do not hire overqualified people. It does not make them lazy or unskilled.

Posted by: Anonymous (German IP) at December 1, 2009 6:08 PM

I'm a pussy because we disagree? I bet you win some debates with that one? You have to understand that many companies that "lesser jobs" do not hire overqualified people. It does not make them lazy or unskilled.

It also doesn't make them entitled to handouts.

Skill is relative. There is always a set of skills which is in demand. Workers may need to adjust their skillsets from time to time in order to stay relevant.

Of course, if liberals had their way, the International Morse Code Telegraph Worker's Union Local 223 would still be on UC.

These supposedly "overqualified" people had ample time to save money for periods of sluggish earnings. Instead, many of them squandered their savings on granite countertops and plasma TVs, then when their savings ran out, they took out a second mortgage to pay for the RVs and jacuzzis.

Before entitlement and bailout mentality reigned supreme, people actually had to demonstrate financial responsibility by saving money in good times to prepare for bad times. Now, when you fall on hard times, you vote Democrat and pick your neighbor's pocket.

Throughout the past few decades, from state to state, the UC eligibility period has varied widely, as have the benefits. The best predictor of reemployment, across all states, was the expiration of benefits - roughly 3 in 4 workers on UC who reenter the workforce do so within 3 weeks before the scheduled end of benefits.

Big Government, through its excessive taxes, heavy regulation, misguided labor policies, and reckless monetary policy is the driving force behind the abnormally high levels of job loss.

The proper solution is to get it out of the way and let small business create jobs. Mortgaging our children to China to continue the orgy of debt, UC being among the many problems, is another indefensible act of generational theft.

Posted by: Anonymous Countermoonbat at December 1, 2009 6:22 PM

Hypothetically speaking, if people couldn't rely on unemployment benefits, what would they do?

Most likely, they'd have to reachback to families and communities.

If people knew their social safety net was based on personal relationships, and not an impersonal bureaucracy, I think society would probably be a lot more civil than it is.

Just thinkin'...

Posted by: V the K at December 1, 2009 6:28 PM

First off, UC (Unemployment Compensation) should be there for those who need it, but it's at least halfway lower so people can work for more money. Granted the job market sucks (thanks to the raping of the economy), but as forest said, maybe take a lesser paying job and work back up. It's all about self-reliance. You claim that many companies don't want to hire overqualified people.... I just don't buy it. Especially with employers knowing what's up with the economic situation.

And if you don't wanna be called a pussy, maybe a name might help instead of just "anonymus".

"What would you like the government to do about unemployment benefits? Let them run out? "
Posted by: one of the Anonymous's

Sounds like this Anonymous is advocating for the usual liberal open-ended, on-into perpetuity...business as usual, entitlement/benefit/welfare giveaway plan.

Point being: what length of time is appropriate for UC? 6 months? 12 months? The length of the recession? Up to time the recipient gets another job?

The "government" as you put it, is funded by the check I just very painfully wrote out to support it and your sentiment. How many more times do you expect me to write out these checks before I take my business elsewhere?

Posted by: Fiberal at December 1, 2009 7:38 PM

Posted by: xantl at December 1, 2009 5:02 PM,

Just an observation, if he had not have done what he did back then he most certainly would have done it during this administration. Give this administration some more time, I am sure they'll be looking to fry some more people ala waco. Maybe they'll make tea party protests illegal and open fire on unarmed protesters, that'll really get some juices flowing now wouldn't it? I'd bet a dollar on this; we'll have another Timothy before the end of this current administration and for similar reasons. Care to bet me?

Posted by: Moonbat Skullcracker at December 2, 2009 4:40 AM

Our current economic and political situation is a direct result of our government 'largess' passing out unearned benefits such as tax credits and refund checks to people who pay ZERO federal income taxes, giving 'subprime' and 'first time' borrowers the 'right' to own government subsidized homes, former 'clunker' owners driving new cars... the list goes on and on - benefits for a significant number of others at the ever increasing cost of those dwindling 52% of us who still pay federal income taxes, state income taxes, and too numerous to count excise taxes, property taxes, fees and other misappropriations.

That being said, the rape and pillaging of our financial system, the lack of available credit for small business owners, and the devasting loss of employment has destroyed families and communities across this nation. Did these people deserve to lose their jobs? Maybe not, but it is a forseeable consequence for those who continue to vote and support LYING, CHEATING, & WHORING politicians who continue to rob Peter (the taxpayers) to pay Paul (non federal taxpayers) with subsidized housing, subsidized food, subsidized education, subsidized healthcare, and augmented income for NON PRODUCTIVE RESIDENTS (notice the intentional use of the gentle, non judgemental and more inclusive term of RESIDENT and not the much maligned, stingy, racist and devalued term of CITIZEN so despised by those of leftist persuasion).

Getting to 1st Point: The small business owner is carrying a bag of rocks. Every tax, fee, unfunded mandate, and regulatory adds 'rocks' to our bag. At some point, we can carry that bag no further or the business dies. At some point we have to empty the bag. Raise employment taxes? After cutting all other expenses, we have to lay people off. Mandatory healthcare benefits? Some people will have their hours reduced to part time or their jobs eliminated through out sourcing. More environmental rules, regulatory expenses or legal risk? Manufacturing jobs go to China, India, Mexico... NEVER TO COME BACK.

2nd Point: Small business owners risk EVERYTHING with personal loan guarantees to finance the operation of their business. They are the LAST ones to get paid - IF they get paid. Employees are expensive and difficult to deal with, having to pay due consideration to all of the federal, state, and local 'rules', providing employees with rights without significant personal financial risk. The business owner is ALWAYS the 'bad guy', which is why we have accommodate, provide 2nd, 3rd, and 4th chances for irresponsible & unprofessional behavior, and poor work ethic, all the while having to provide excessive documentation of that counselling and attempts at rehabilitation. When times get bad - and these are VERY BAD TIMES, employment suffers. So why is Obama, Pelosi and Reid hellbent on making things worse??? What small business is going to hire people in this hostile economic, punitive tax, and anti-business political environment? The situation is going to get worse. A massive $ 12 Trillion debt (quadrupling the first 3 months of this year and totalling more than ALL the cumulative debt of our entire nation's 200+ year history), a rapidly devaluing dollar (more than 16% this year), and a marxist takeover of our nation's economy. We are in danger of becoming Cuba...

3rd Point: Over the last 40 years, had every 'employee' been a 1099 worker, .ie. a self employed person, in reference to AND crediting the contribution of prior posters, ALL of the above job destruction could have been avoided. Why?

(1) Because EVERY worker would bear the cost and be attentive to excessive government spending and taxation.

(2)Every worker would be committed to the success of the business they were working for, so we could have avoided the destruction of our steel industry, our electronics industry, our auto industry, our textile industry and the majority of those jobs would be here today.

(3) The quality of our products and services would be better because the lifetime success and earnings of each worker would be dependent upon the depth of their knowlege and experience, the application of their skills, the growth of their talent, the quality of their service, the strength of their ethical and moral values, and the "can do" attitude that America was founded upon, and once famous for. There would be no benefit or financial gain for negative, unproductive or anti-social behavior. Because bad things happen, there would be a safety net for our citizens, because we are truly a generous nation. BUT - there would be NO massive 'free ride' society as exists today, who give their votes to LYING, CHEATING, & WHORING politicians ... who bankrupt our cities, our states, and our nation.

4th Point: To restart the creation of jobs, we need to massively cut federal, state, and local government spending. We need to significantly cut excessive government regulations and public sector employment. We need to significantly lower taxation on the productive sector of our society and reduce the size and scope of the free ride society. The fundamental problem we face is this: The Voter IS NOT The Federal/State Income Taxpayer. There is ZERO incentive for a Free Rider to pick up a single 'rock' from the bag of the Tax Federal/State Income Taxpayer. 48% of our adult population is A LOT of Free Riders... nearly a voting majority, and a significant part of the Democratic Party constituency. For perpetual marxist government, all the Democrats have to do is reach 50% - hence the fanatical push for 'stimulus' spending, higher taxes on 'the rich' (ie. those of us already paying federal income taxes), 'Cap and Trade' and a host of other schemes to destroy our economy, accelerate job losses and create more citizens desperate for financial support.

5th Point: If it is fair and just for proportional taxation, then it must be fair and just for proportional voting. Those of us who are tasked and obligated to "pay our fair share" must be given the right and obligation to "vote our fair share". Whether your view point leans Left or Right, the productive sector creates the jobs and pays the taxes. The productive sector should have a significant say in how tax money is spent and what society we live in. Both houses of Congress is not being held accountable for being LIARS, CHEATS & WHORES and has no respect and feels no constraint from such a worn out piece of paper such as the U.S. Constitution.

Therefore let it be declared and implemented that every U.S. Citizen are accorded a single vote in local, state, and federal elections AND in recognition of the contribution to our society and obligation for our society, ALL Federal/State Income Tax Paying Citizens are accorded a number of votes based upon their tax contributions to the government of the United States. Henceforth, for every $ 10,000 paid to the government of the United States between election cycles one vote will be accorded to the Federal/State Income Tax Paying Citizen. Thus, all citizens who have not been obligated to pay up to $ 10,000 in taxes to the U.S. Government, during the last two year election cycle, shall be accorded a single vote. Other citizens who have paid $ 10,000 or more in taxes to the U.S. Government, during the last two year election cycle, shall be accorded 1 ADDITIONAL vote for EVERY $ 10,000 paid. Consequently, and as an example, a citizen who has paid the U.S. Government $ 60,000 during the past two year election cycle, shall be accorded 7 votes - 1 as the citizens constitutional right, and 6 for being a productive & contributing member of society who has paid "their fair share" and deserves a "fair say" in the governance of their locality, their state, and their nation.
