Manbearpig Scammers Sunk by Their Own Hysterical Rhetoric

Steven Hayward notes that a big part of the reason the exposure of the Climategate emails is such a bombshell is because the credibility of the climate change scienticians (scientist+politician = scientician) was already strained to begin with.

The biggest hazard to serious climate science all along was not so much contrarian arguments from skeptics, but rather the damage that the hyperbole of the environmental community would inflict on their own cause.

The scammers knew that in order to accept the enormous costs and diminished standard of living their schemes would impost on people, they had to make it look like the Earth would burn, civilization would perish, and we'd wake up the day after tomorrow with CGI wolves in our backyard.

We were actually told, with straight and somber faces, the following things would happen unless everybody (except politicians, 'climate scientists,' and media shills of course) threw themselves on the altar of Gaia and reduced our standard of living to third world levels.

And they wanted us to believe that all of these catastrophes would be caused by a minor temperature fluctuation of the type that has occurred throughout the geological history of the Earth, and that it would be brought on by a shift of a few parts per million of CO2 levels in the atmosphere.

They had to push the big lie because only the left-wing would willingly subjugate their entire life to the control of politicians and environmentalists because night-time low temperatures in Siberia a hundred years might be -40 instead of -45. But sometimes, the biggest threat to the Big Lie is a little truth.
