When the Iranian regime was brutally murdering protesters in the street, our president responded by taking a drooling team of journalists fluffers along as he went out to buy ice cream for his dog.
This is what Chairman Zero and his Apparatchiks call "Smart Diplomacy." The theory behind it was that if the American president and state department stood by and did nothing while the Iranian government brutally repressed its people, the mullahs would be so grateful they would agree to cooperate in halting their nuclear weapons program.
Of course, the knuckle-dragging, Neanderthal right-wing scoffed that Iran's dictators would laugh at "Smart Diplomacy" and do whatever the Hell they wanted because in the end, nations will always act in their own self-interest and all the Hopey Changey bullcrap in the world will not change that.
So, who was right? The Iranians have given their answer:
Iran's president on Tuesday dismissed a year-end deadline set by the Obama administration and the West for Tehran to accept a U.N.-drafted deal to swap enriched uranium for nuclear fuel, and claimed his government is now "10 times stronger" than a year ago.
The international community can give Iran "as many deadlines as they want, we don't care," Ahmadinejad said in a speech to thousands of supporters in the southern city of Shiraz.
So, once again, Neanderthal Realism has pounded Hope and Change like the Giants pounded the Deadskins. And Chairman Zero retains his Detroit-Lions-like record of achievement in foreign and economic policy successes.
Expect our genius president and his team of smart diplomats to ... set another deadline. Maybe next year. Sometime. Hey, who's up for ice cream?
