Time Reporter Has a History
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at November 9, 2009 12:59 PM
Time Magazine reporter Tim McGirk has posited the theory that Nidal Hasan --- who attended a radical mosque with the 9-11 hijackers, told colleagues that infidels should have their throats cut, and screamed "Allahu Akbar" as he killed 13 people --- was suffering from "secondary trauma," a sort of "contact PTSD," where hearing stories from combat soldiers who suffered from PTSD drove him to commit mass murder. Because it couldn't possibly have been Islamic jihad, and the media will grasp at any straw to deny that possibility.
Noah Pollak at Commentary has discovered that Mr. McGirk has a rather interesting history:
This shouldn’t be surprising coming from Tim McGirk. He went to Afghanistan after 9/11, had Thanksgiving with the Taliban, and wrote a long piece for National Geographic about what a great time he had and how we’re all just human beings doing our thing on this big blue marble, so let’s not judge. Then he went to Iraq and singlehandedly created the Haditha Massacre hoax. Then he went to Jerusalem and spent a few years slandering Israel. Now he’s trafficking in pop psychology on behalf of a likely domestic jihadist. It’s been quite a career.
Empathy for the enemies of the United States is the default position for Mainstream Media organs like Time Magazine. It's a good thing that they are dying.
BTW, here's yet another clue the MSM will ignore. Hasan's business card contains the notation "SoA" meaning "Soldier of Allah." Will they still claim this guy just needed a vacation?

Comments
Really? Look, it goes without saying that I am openly contpemtuous of all people who base their decision-making on religion. Muslims? Stupid archaic monsters. Of course I feel the same way about more traditionally "American" brands of crazy, too... but regardless...
SoA means "service-oriented aarchitecture" and SWT is "standard widget toolkit". The guy is clearly a developer in his training/spare time.
Are you really so desperate to make a (stupid) point that you deliberately make that shit up? Or are you actually sop abominably dumb that you really think that guy wrote 'soldier of allah" on his business card?
God I hate stupidity.
Posted by: snot/meh/anonymous at November 9, 2009 1:48 PM
Wrong. Leaving apart the fact that Service Oriented Architecture has nothing to do with psychiatry, the standard acronym for Service Oriented Architecture is SOA in ALLCAPS.

I pray this low animal will be executed, they are a perfect match. An hypocrital and cowardly religion pushing hatred and violence with the Obama administration whitewashing everything they do and did. Next building they will blow up, that retard we have as a president will be calling for dialogues and "Not rushing to conclusions" while the Islamics can't believe their damn luck.
Posted by: Jay B at November 9, 2009 2:06 PM
I think we're jumping the gun here (no pun intended).
SoA could means "School of the Americas"
SWT could mean (and this is a stretch, maybe he was enhancing his cred) Scout Weapons Team.
Just a thought. . .
Posted by: ReggieDunlop at November 9, 2009 2:09 PM
And suggesting that 'SWT' means anything other than, in Arabic, 'Allah is glorious', is sheer desperation.
What the hell does Standard Widget Toolkit mean in the context of the card?
Does anyone know anybody outside of a software engineer or something (and I can't believe even they would do it)would put Standard Widget Toolkit on their business card?
If it means otherwise than 'Allah is glorious' it probably means 'Shoot Without Trial'
Posted by: Jim at November 9, 2009 2:11 PM
Hey, I've got "Mohammed POS" on my card. Doesn't mean a thing.
Posted by: Jay Guevara at November 9, 2009 2:15 PM
From what I've read, the Army was cutting this guy all kinds of slack for the sake of political correctness. He would have nothing to fear from announcing his loyalty to 'Allah' on his business card. If anyone had objected, he could have sued for religious discrimination.

PTSD = Pre-Traumatic Stress Syndrome; I was wondering how long it would take some nimrod to come up with this excuse. It didn't take too long.
Posted by: ruddie at November 9, 2009 2:28 PM
A Google search reveals:
SWT:
Definition: When writing the name of God (Allah), Muslims often follow it with the abbreviation "SWT." These letters stand for the Arabic words "Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala," or "Glory to Him, the Exalted." Muslims use these or similar words to glorify God when mentioning His name.
http://islam.about.com/od/glossary/g/swt.htm
It makes perfect sense that after the SoA would be SWT. "Soldier of Allah (Glory to Him the Exalted)"

C'mon, Kevin, maybe he was just a really really committed developer. You know how passionate they can be. Maybe the guys at Fort Hood had found a bug in Hasan's code, and he snapped. Let's not jump to conclusions.
Posted by: Jay Guevara at November 9, 2009 2:55 PM
You convinced me, Kevin.

First, I gotta say WHO CARES? This is like the "birth certificate truthers" thing. I mean, yeah...I have questions about "O"s origins, his academic record, etc. But at the moment, seeing how he's already in office and trying to gut the Constitution, those things are low on my list.
Same here. I get the point, but let's focus on the undisputed facts: he's Moslem, he's connected to a radical mosque, he's made statements against western civilization, he shouts ALLAH'U AKBAR and then shoots almost 40 people.
Given all that, I'd say instead of "SoA", his card might now read "S.O.L."

Onward Christian Soldiers etc
I have no quarrel with your denouncing the guy who raves about Taliban etc but why is it that you folks blame all mainstream media for what may or may not be one or more dopes who write for one or more papers or magazines? could it be that you do not but write for----the web, and so that makes you ok and them scum?
Blame the guy if you must. But stop calling everyone in the media dummies. That makes you a dummy.

Back in 1938 TIME named ADOLPH HITLER as their MAN OF THE YEAR back in 1989 TIME named GORBECHEV as MAN OF THE DECADE Its a wonder a leftists rag like SLIME is still going

Where did we blame the entire media? We are blaming the mainstream media, a/k/a the drive-by media, of which each outlet has written a nauseating apologist piece on this murderous jihadist.
This is why they get grouped together. They all spew the same liberal slant.
If they don't toe that line, then they aren't part of the MSM. In fact, if they don't toe that line, then the White House refers to them as not being a news outlet at all.
The moonbat messiah has drawn the line between news and not news. News is anything which reflects favorably on his agenda. We are calling out the outlets which fit that definition.
Posted by: Anonymous Countermoonbat at November 9, 2009 3:32 PM
Would that be every media outlet except Fox??

So...help us out here. What exactly are the MSM responsible for, if not the work product of their employees? Is there something else they do?
We're holding them accountable for their piss-poor job at their one and only task: reporting the facts, so we can draw our own conclusions, not just their opinions on what conclusions we should draw. In short, we want them to take their thumbs off the scales.

And who hires those idiot writers? Who publishes their idiocy day after day after day?

*sigh* I remember when "empathy for the enemies of the United States" was called simply TREASON, and punishable by death.
Gotta love Leftists: American Veteran Heroes who protect their sorry asses are "domestic terrorists", but a mass murderer who commits islamic jihad according to the tenets of their actual religion is simply misunderstood.
Leftists/Liberals/"Progressives" suck.

"...reporting the facts, so we can draw our own conclusions,..."
Would that be like Moonbattery??
Posted by: Lao at November 9, 2009 4:04 PM
These are opinions here, nitwit. Sorta like the MSM, except people are patriotic.
Posted by: Jay Guevara at November 9, 2009 4:13 PM
Would that be every media outlet except Fox?
That would be every media outlet that has abandoned their journalistic ethics to make news, instead of properly reporting it. That would be every media outlet that has abandoned their position as the fourth branch, and focused instead on spewing propaganda in blind support of the very politicians they are supposed to be watching on behalf of the people.
Put down the Kool-Aid, and you might be able to rid yourself of Fox Derangement Syndrome. The rebuttal to bad behavior by one media outlet is not another media outlet.
If a media outlet is behaving badly, then they need to be called on it, regardless of whether they advance conservative or liberal views. The liberal media has come unhinged, and your only rebuttal to that is what you perceive as the faults of their competitor.
If that is the case, what media outlets do you believe are unbiased, if, in your opinion, Fox does the same thing the MSM does but with a different direction to the slant?
Posted by: Anonymous Countermoonbat at November 9, 2009 4:17 PM
The point of a news organization in a democracy - you know, like we used to have - is to ask tough questions of those in power, not to give them wet slobbering kisses.
These worthless turds in the media are too busy gushing like schoolgirls about Michelle's arms, and the crease in the Messiah's pants (tells you where they look). Edward R. Murrow is lucky he didn't live to see this.
Posted by: Jay Guevara at November 9, 2009 4:30 PM
For example, why doesn't any reporter ask the Messiah why he didn't go to Berlin? Or Fort Hood? Or how he's going to pay for all his spending? Or how he responded to the Chinese when they warned not to dare inflate our currency to pay off our debts? Or whether he's aware that the Treasury is buying its own bonds – because no one else will at the offered price - and if so, why he thinks that is, and does that trouble him at all? Or whether he considers those opposing his plans to have valid criticisms, and if not, why not? Or was aware of the import of "teabagging," and if so, did he mean to use a vulgar sexual slur associated with homosexuals in describing his fellow Americans? Or what response he would make to Sarkozy's criticism of him? Or how he thinks the troops regard his failure to visit Fort Hood? Or what steps he's taking to ensure that another Fort Hood won't happen? Or has he considered what he'll do if negotiation doesn't work with Iran (which it obviously isn't)?
The list goes on and on. Instead, we get Michelle's arms. Sheesh.

I've never seen someone so desperate for attention than Lao.
Hey Lao do a cartwheel, or a jumping jack and shout "LOOK AT ME!" or shout something incoherent about "FAUX NOISE" that'll show em.
Posted by: xantl at November 9, 2009 6:02 PM
Point not being stressed is that one of the major problems with MSM is that they do not report news that they, or their god, does not wish to hear.
As Dorothy L. Sayers said over fifty years ago, the freedom of the press seems to be freedom to suppress.

The thing that really shoots the "He was a major tech geek and his card referred to Service Oriented Architecture" to hell is the fact that he had an aol.com email address. No self-respecting tech geek uses aol.

Kevin is correct up there about SWT. I know about such things, having been married to a muslim for 22 years.
I want any political correctness addict who is blaming this horror on anything but Islam to know: Everybody is laughing at you.
