The Democrat Party Died Last Night

Posted by The MaryHunter at November 4, 2009 4:25 AM

...Er, not really, but the headline sure grabbed you. We're not so ignorant here as to believe that these historic election losses for Pres. Obama and his Democrat minions will quell their thirst for power and perpetual need to oppress Americans rich and poor, young and old. But this is what one writer at CNSNews.com proclaimed:

If I owned a cable news network, the Mullings News Network, this is what I would demand every anchor, analyst, guest, floor director and cameraman say: The Democratic Party in America is officially dead.
It died in Virginia last night when Bob McDonnell the R*E*P*U*B*L*I*C*A*N won the election for Governor, beating the democratic candidate, Creigh Deeds by something on the order of 18 percentage points -- way, WAY more than even the most optimistic public polls had predicted.
The Democratic Party also died in New Jersey, when R*E*P*U*B*L*I*C*A*N Chris Christie beat incumbent democrat Jon Corzine by better than 100,000 votes in a State which hasn't voted for a Republican since … a very long time ago (it was 1997 when Christine Todd Whitman was re-elected Governor).
Hamid Karzai called Barack Obama to offer both condolences and advice as to how Obama might want to approach his own re-election in 2012 based upon Karzai's excellent showing in the Election That Never Was in Afghanistan.

Jokes aside: Our Dear Leader and his Hopey-Change Thaaaang actually got three losses last night: not only the Virginia and New Jersey races, but New York 23rd as well. Even though it appears that Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman has lost that race to Democrat Bill Owens, the whole Gingrich-Scuzzyawfula-RINO incident has done more than any race this election cycle, and perhaps the last as well, to lift the rock and expose the soft yellow putrid goo that will destroy the Republican Party, if it continues to fester.

The Conservative base of the GOP has been reinvigorated with the knowledge that it will not be ignored anymore, to the party's peril. Had a Hoffman-type candidate been chosen initially by local party apparatchiks to run for the NY 23rd seat, he or she would have had time, party money, and ballot exclusivity, rather than this messy three-way gang-bang that occurred. Even still, it is far better to have a liberal Republican lose a seat, than to win at the expense of basic party principles.

The question is whether local and national GOP leaders will heed the warning. Really, this time.

See today's Washington Times editorial for cutting commentary on the implications of this historic election.

In a turn of events, now Obama's chickens are coming home to roost.

Dierdre Scozzafava Trojan Horse got 6 percent of the vote in the hot NY 23rd election. 6 percent of the people voted (R) likely because they always have, and these people were duped.

The Democrat beat Conservative Doug Hoffman 49 to 46 percent. With Scozzafava Trojan Horse's points subtracted from the mix, the Dems barely pulled out their win - with subterfuge and chicanery.

Dede Scozzafava Trojan Horse is a member of the Working Families Party (WFP) and is a committed socialist. She posed as a Republican, and the GOP gave her a million dollars.
The GOP has been infiltrated by Leftists, and it's time to call them out.

(WHAT BARACK AND THE Working Families Party DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW)

The refounding has begun.

Posted by: Henry at November 4, 2009 6:13 AM

We havent seen the last of Hoffman, he will be back in the next primary. Better a Dummycrat in the seat for now than a RINO. That way as the Democrats agenda continues to implode it will be easier to take back that seat, the next time around.

Considering Hoffman was a nobody a month ago, he came darn close to winning. Next time, hopefully the local GOP there will have their heads screwed on straight.

The defeat of Jon Thorazine Corzine was the highlight of the evening and more than made up for NY23.

I'd call it a draw to slight GOP win...

NJ exit polls showed Obama was not a factor in 60% of the votes, and that 20% voted against him by voting Christie, 19% voted for him by voting for Corzine, and his approval rating was at 57 (he won the state with 57). Also, Corzine's approval rating was 39% heading into yesterday, and was actually lower than that heading into Obama's '08 election, so at least from this New Jerseyan's perspective, the Garden State's election was not a referrendum on Obama. More to the point, Dem base voters were not out in full force by any means (Newark had about 60% drop in turnout from '08 -- let's just say Jon Corzine is not an inspiring public servant). It also certainly did not help his cause.

I don't have exact VA numbers akin to that for NJ, but I do know his approval rating was 51% in the Old Dominion State.

And then at the federal level, the Dems won the only election, winning a seat they hadn't won since the Civil War. I actually disagree with the pundits who say this is an identity crisis for the GOP. Pawlenty, Palin, et al made clear that they wanted the party to stay conservative and they pushed back from the RNC. I don't think this is a bad thing for Republicans -- in 21st century politics, we are candidate-driven, not party-driven, so I don't think candidates dictating the direction of their party is a negative for said party. Having said that, losing that particular seat, and the only seat on the federal level last night, is not good either (although how much can you take from a sample of one?).

I think state issues and federal issues are discernible from one another. At the same time, it does not help the sitting POTUS to lose two gubernatorial races.

I'm so sick over NY23 I could cry. What WarrenPeace said makes sense, though. Here's another thought. Bill isn't going to have a barrel of fun at this job. He's going to have a lot of people making life miserable for him, his phone constantly ringing off the hook, his email box clogged, his snail mail littering the place, angry people waving signs outside his office, a grueling race next year. Careful what you wish for.
I'm so pissed off at the 6% who voted for the cow, I feel like putting my house up for sale today and moving the f*ck out of this godforsaken state.

Posted by: Karin at November 4, 2009 6:35 AM

My hearty congratulations, however to the good people of NJ and VA. Well done!

Posted by: Karin at November 4, 2009 6:37 AM

It's kinda sad for Hoffman, I really liked the guy and he would have won if not for Newt's idiotic decision to endorse Dede. I hope he runs for another public office before 2012.

Posted by: Jay B at November 4, 2009 6:55 AM

Anybody else get "a thrill" up their legs last night as the returns were coming in?

Yeah, me either - just wonder what it feels like...BWAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHA!

Posted by: nancz at November 4, 2009 7:20 AM

Conservative purity loses in NY 23.

So waddayathink? Will this embolden the RINO's? Will it fire up the conservative right even more?

The conservative right brought in ALL their big guns, not to mention a ton of money, and poor old Rush was certain, CERTAIN, that Hoffman was going to win.

The right wing spin on this will be delightful to behold.

Posted by: Anonymous at November 4, 2009 8:02 AM

Talk about the right wing spin. How about CNN stating that this was NOT a referendum on Obama? Exactly how many visits did The One make to NJ and VA? Especially NJ, in the last few weeks/days? C'mon, Annonymouse, get serious! A spin for a spin!

As noted by TMH, Anonymook, if the GOP had nominated a conservative Republican from the get go (or at least not a freaking liberal cow Republican), things *could* well have been different. Hoffman didn't lose by much - if the Cow had been off the ballot, it's anyone's guess were those votes would have gone - I'm thinking, besides her family, therapist, and a few hippie friends, those RINO votes would likely have gone for the conservative.

Still, though this was a victory on principle over the nitwit Newts in the GOP, I seriously doubt that the GOP leaders really will extract the correct message from NY23-- not in spite of, but including, the VA and NJ results. It all fits together: Hope and Change? Now it's just Hope for a Change from Hope and Change.

As Laura Ingraham said this morning, "Republicans can screw up a one-car funeral."

Join the rest of the fed-up New Yorkers down in Florida. Perpetual sunshine, no income taxes, and no moonbat-run government. Rush and Coulter both moved to Palm Beach County to escape moonbattery, and have been pleased ever since. Supposedly, certain parts of PBC have become like NY due to all the NY refugees living there, but without the liberalism.

It isn't surprising to find that Rush never said he was "certain, CERTAIN, Hoffman was going to win." He said "I'm not going to predict the races. I'm going to predict the media to you..." and on Hoffman in particular: "If Hoffman wins -- and polls suggest that he will..."

This, coming from a master of the art.

Kevin R directly above is correct. I was listening to it at the time.

BTW, did you know that the NY23 congressperson now has to run for the regular election next year? It's not 2012. 2010.

Posted by: Karin at November 4, 2009 9:55 AM

Rush said: "(When Hoffman wins) the State-Run Media will say, "New York-23, the race is more about the demise of the Republican Party and anger on the right than Obama or his policies."

Posted by: Anonymous at November 4, 2009 10:28 AM

I see, he said "(When Hoffman wins)" in parenthesis. Does the parenthesis mean that Rush said something like "If Hoffman wins..." which was changed to a parenthetic "(When Hoffman wins)"? That's interesting, Rush said (When Hoffman wins) in parenthesis.

And then Anonymous takes this and SPINS IT to mean that Rush stated he was "... certain, CERTAIN, that Hoffman was going to win."

Well, it's easy to see that our master of spin, the troll posting as Anonymous, is at the job.

I'd call it a draw to slight GOP win...

Yeah, me too. Look at all the damage Soetoro's butt did to the GOP's foot. Pretty much even.

Posted by: Jay Guevara at November 4, 2009 11:41 AM

Kevin R. - taken directly off Rush's website:

"This is where conservative Americans are drawing the line. New York-23. This is where we are fighting, this is where we will take a stand against both the liberal wing of the Republican Party and Obama and the Democrat Party. And that's what's happened here. To the great distress of people like Lindsey Grahamnesty and the Rockefeller Republicans, the great distress of Obama, the Democrats in the media, that's exactly what has happened here. And Hoffman is now said to be in the lead. Now, whether he wins or not, what happened in New York-23 was a huge statement by conservatives and traditional Republicans against the left in both parties. And should Hoffman win, as I think he will, his campaign is gonna give confidence and energy to scores of others across this country where momentum will grow right up to next year's election. So that's the truth of New York-23."

Posted by: Lao at November 4, 2009 1:07 PM

I see.

So because Rush said, "...as I think he (Hoffman) will.." this must mean that everything Rush has every said or will say is invalid.

Because, as we all know, pundits never mis-call a race that could have gone the other way but for three percentage points.

You sure are determined to hang around here and put us all in our place, aren't you Lao?

Posted by: Cylar at November 4, 2009 2:01 PM

Soetoro is finished. Done. Kaput. Toast. He'll never get anything through Congress now. He's powerless because it's apparent that he can't help candidates, and so has no hold over them. They vote with him, they're done in 2010. They vote against him...they have a chance.

From hero to zero, Messiah to lame duck, in less than a year. Gotta be some kinda record.

Posted by: Jay Guevara at November 4, 2009 2:20 PM

Too funny. The conservative right threw pretty much everything and everyone they had at NY 23 and they managed to lose a district the Republicans have held for ages.

Naturally, this doesn't cause any of you to question the wisdom of that strategy. You want to keep on working hard to drag the Republicans further right and purge their moderates. Please, parachute unknown, but conservatively pure, candidates into districts in the future. I'm sure it will work next time.

Posted by: Lao at November 4, 2009 2:34 PM

lao,
obooboo threw all of his weight into NJ and Virg and his boys lost big. What does that tell you.

Posted by: Farmer Ted at November 4, 2009 2:44 PM

Whistling past the graveyard, lao. Until a month, nobody had ever heard of anyone involved in the NY election. Now Corzine is looking for cardboard boxes, and Deeds can go back to whatever he was doing before. Thanks, Barack!

Posted by: Jay Guevara at November 4, 2009 3:03 PM

And Hoffman won't have to worry about returning as a loser to NY 23 because he doesn't live there in the first place. I guess he can pack his parachute for his next attempt.

Posted by: Lao at November 4, 2009 3:16 PM

And Owens will get to do this all over again...in less than a year. Good luck, comrade!

Meanwhile, Christie and McDonnell will still be in office when the Messiah's political career ends in 2012, and he can start working for Habitat for Humanity. Or maybe on Air America! Bwahahaha!

Posted by: Jay Guevara at November 4, 2009 3:20 PM

Far be it from me to dash your dreams. Let's touch base a year from now and see how it is going.

Posted by: Lao at November 4, 2009 3:22 PM

The reason Owens won was because "Republican" candidate Scozzafava, who withdrew, still pulled 5.5% of the vote. Had this vote been consolidated around the one, true Republican candidate, Hoffman would have won. This is what happens when a few folks get together to choose a nominee. Have a full-blown primary, and let the voters decide. Had this occurred, Hoffman would soon be a congressman.

The loss also shows that the two major parties still lead in the organization department. Had Hoffman been the Republican nominee, he would have had the resources and organizational infrastructure of the party. Owens had the unions and ACORN backing him up. The Republican machine came in too late, and Hoffman was done.

The race does show that Republican voters have a set standard as to what they think a "Republican" candidate should represent. Scozzafava was not that candidate. In addition, the national party should still receive the same message regardless of whether Hoffman won or lost. He pulled enough votes combined with the Republican to have won. The message is that Republicans want and need conservatives as their candidates. When a solid conservative message is presented, Republicans win. Just look at New Jersey and Virginia. Great job!

,blockquote>Posted by: Lao at November 4, 2009 1:07 PM

I've read and reread the quote you posted which is supposed to contain what you originally posted and still can't find this in that quote:

Rush said: "(When Hoffman wins) the State-Run Media will say, "New York-23, the race is more about the demise of the Republican Party and anger on the right than Obama or his policies."
Posted by: Anonymous at November 4, 2009 10:28 AM

(That quote was supposed to back up the troll's post where it said that Rush was "certain, CERTAIN that Hoffman was going to win.)

That statement isn't anywhere in the quote you used above to back it up. It simply isn't there. Does anyone see it there? It would be a perfectly legitimate thing for Rush to have said but it simply isn't there, Lao.

Lao, you're a very sloppy troll.

Posted by: Kevin R. at November 4, 2009 4:27 PM

Did I say that first quote was there? No.

I provided a DIFFERENT quote that indicates Rush thought Hoffman would win.

Quite simple really.

Posted by: Lao at November 4, 2009 4:37 PM

I see Lao, first you stated:

... and poor old Rush was certain, CERTAIN, that Hoffman was going to win.

I called you on that, and then I called you on what you used to back up your assertion, and then finally you come up with a lengthy quote whose only tie to your assertion is:

And should Hoffman win, as I think he will...

which is supposed to back up your original post, a post which you wrapped up with:

The right wing spin on this will be delightful to behold.

I hope the irony of you of all people, saying anything about spin, isn't lost on you, troll.

Posted by: Kevin R. at November 4, 2009 5:02 PM

Bottom line, the conservative candidate lost a long-time Republican district, despite the "liberal" candidates splitting the "left" vote between them.

Is that spin?

Posted by: Lao at November 4, 2009 5:12 PM

Yes troll, the way you present it is spin.

That's all you're good for, isn't it.

Posted by: Kevin R. at November 4, 2009 5:37 PM

I have an idea Kevin. How about you detail what happened in NY 23 in your own words. See if you can describe it in one line like I did.
