Radio Network Goes Belly-Up After Liberal Execs Dump Hannity
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at November 10, 2009 3:00 PM
In 2008, a fed-up Sean Hannity ditched Citadel (ABC Radio) networks for rival Premier Broadcasting. Apparently, Hannity was fed up with his treatment at Citadel/ABC. In one instance, a liberal executive refused to share a company jet with him out of pure contempt and spite.
As a direct result of Hannity's departure, Citadel/ABC's earnings plunged 31.5% year-to-year, its stock is down to 6 cents a share, and the network is now facing bankruptcy.
On a personal note, I'm not a big Sean Hannity fan. He seems to spend half of his airtime promoting his other shows, and his argument-fu is weak. But I do respect that he has done yeoman's work promoting conservatism, and he seems like a genuinely decent guy.
The larger point is this: We are constantly told by smug progressives that "corporate media" only cares about profits. Consider the example of Citadel/ABC networks as a datapoint to the contrary. Consider the entire MSDNC primetime line-up several million datapoints to the contrary.

This station is truly a progressive success story. The moonbat management stuck to their principles and liberated the entire station from evil profit.
Without profit in the way, they can take social justice to the next level.
Perhaps they can start giving away no-doc loans to disadvantaged caller #7.
If they can force revenue down enough, fast enough, they should be able to qualify for bailout money and never worry about running a business again.

Yeah, you'll never catch Air America making a profit.
Bwahahahaha!

Catch them ripping off inner city kids to pay their fat cat Reds, sure, but making a profit? Never happen.

I am on the road a lot and end up listening to these talk shows quite a bit and I agree with you Mr Yardale, Hannity spends way too much time self promoting. I really hate his overdone bumper intros (conservatism in exile) and his endless hype of the freedom concerts and hate that slogan of his "4 hours a day, that's all we ask", like we have that kind of time to listen to his radio show! And I agree that he's a likeable guy but intellectualy he can't keep up with Rush, Levin or Savage.

"We are constantly told by smug progressives that "corporate media" only cares about profits."
So what if they are, liberals?
Oh, wait. If weapons manufacturers/scientists, churches, insurance companies, and businesses in general try to profit, then they are immoral. If the liberal media, Big Science, or trial lawyers try to profit, however, then that's okay.
Then again, liberals are incredibly stupid as to knowing what constitutes 'profit'. In their eyes, one more Democrat voter is profit, regardless of the amount of money their business lost.

Contrarian, what is wrong with the Freedom Concerts? Just curious, as the intent is to pay for scholarships of dependents of military people killed on duty.

UpNorth..... I didn't mean to disparage the Freedom Concerts nor their value. I really was just pointing out how tiresome it was hearing the constant promotion on Hannity. Like I said I'm on the road a lot and probabley get more irritated than
most because of the repetition. Just soundin off on a slow nite. I'm a Vet and up for anything good for the military

Meh, not a big Hannity fan but he is a very decent guy. Had a chance to meet him a few years ago over at a book signing event. Even though I had long hair and a skull hoody on(as my friends would say, I was a "conservative that dressed like an anarchist"), he still took a few minutes out of his time signing to talk a bit while he was probably getting carpal tunnel with all the folks there in line. lol
I do like when he calls into the Levin show though and they banter back and forth. Pretty damn funny. But good for Hannity for going with his principles.

Name one thing liberal that has NOT gone belly up (and legs spread in the case of BJ Clinton's interns).
Google? Yeah - the bastards spew liberal out their butts but practice conservative capitalism. Which means any successful liberals are hypocrites.
Liberals preach failure.

I hope that executive idiot was forced to sell his gulfstream at a financial loss

Well played, moonbats! You really showed Hannity!

"Liberal talk radio" is an oxymoron isn't it? But, what awesome news. So well deserved. Makes my day.
