Morning Briefs: Stuff You've Probably Already Read Somewhere Else
Posted by Gregory of Yardale at November 2, 2009 5:35 AM
Good Morning Campers and Whining Leftist Milk-Babies,
Item Number One: The MaryHunter said pretty much everything that needs to be said about Dede Scozzafava, who is defying conventional wisdom by letting the door hit her ass on the way out. I would only note that New York Waste of Times columnist Frank Rich is apoplectic that "GOP Stalinists" forced her to withdraw as though that's a bad thing. Historically, the New York Waste of Times was one of Uncle Joe Stalin's biggest fans.
Item Number Two: The National Education Association (NEA) has put two books by radical Marxist Saul Alinsky on its recommended reading list, including Rules for Radicals. If you do a search for "Federalist Papers" on the NEA website, the only thing that comes up is a link to a pdf file where they are mentioned by a Republican congressman. (Hat Tip: Michelle Malkin)
Item Number Three: William Kristol asks how the Obama Administration can handle nationalized health care when they can't even manage the H1N1 vaccine, as though this question even matters. The issue to the progressive left isn't whether the Government can do anything well, they just want the Government to do it. By the way, more people believe in aliens than believe that ObamaCare will be deficit-neutral.
On that note...

Something I was going to use as a Morning Brief Item metastasized into a blog post that I put on my other blog. "California's High-Tax Suckhole." Check it out if you want.

Dede had been a RINO all along, it was the only way to get elected, to put an R behind your name and then just do whatever the hell she wanted. It never really came out until now, because as Assemblywoman for NYS, the state politics are so murky and convoluted. Even if you tried to follow it, your eyes would glaze over after the first paragraph of an article. Votes on issues were never published. Now we know exactly what she is, and her career is toast.
BTW, the Hoffman campaign is telling me that ACORN and the SEIU have infested. I'm keeping my camera on me at all times. I'm also ferrying people to polling stations on Tuesday. If any thugs try anything, I'm raising holy hell.

Exactly as I predicted, the media are spinning this as an example of GOP intolerance toward “moderates.”
Note how this AP reporter soft-peddles Scuzzyfava’s positions as “pro-abortion rights, pro-union rights” without going into detail and without discussing her support of high taxes and high spending. David Axelrod is quoted extensively.

What have the Democrats managed to tuck into this 1,900 page healthcare bill? Well how about goodies like this ... uncovered by BigGovernment.com:
Section 2531, entitled "Medical Liability Alternatives," establishes an incentive program for states to adopt and implement alternatives to medical liability litigation. [But]...... a state is not eligible for the incentive payments if that state puts a law on the books that limits attorneys' fees or imposes caps on damages.
Well that's rather obvious, isn't it? Just what in the hell does this have to do with health care reform? How does protecting trial lawyer's contingency fees improve the delivery and quality of health care to the American people? It is a gift from Nancy Pelosi directly to trial lawyers ... trial lawyers who contribute tens of millions of dollars to Democrats in every election year. Any changes made on medical liability lawsuits will not be allowed to affect the livelihood for her beloved trial lawyers
